A complicated plot line that was tricky at times to follow and stick with.
However, the book itself had enough of a hook in it to keep me reading and was enjoyable.
A cool, fun romance meets adventure thriller. I do wish there was a bit more relationship development between Elias and Miller. But a solid read.
3.5 stars.
*I received a review copy from the publisher/author via NetGalley in exchange for my honest review.*
Great story by Liliana Hart. Really thrilling read, great characters and an enjoyable story. Highly recommend to others!!
This was such an awesome idea and a great execution!!! I.Loved everything about this book! Refreshing and inrptriguing!
Though I liked the book, I made the decision at the time I finished not to review it on my site. Maybe in the future I will include it in a book list post or another article.
A terrific second book in the Gravediggers series! This book is versatile in terms of what is has to offer. I experienced a wide range of emotions while reading it, and couldn't turn the pages fast enough devour more of it!
This one sat on my Kindle for much too long. I don't know why. The series is fun and sexy and Gone to Dust didn't disappoint. Action filled with only a couple of twists but the chemistry between the characters keep you turning the pages.
I loved the Mackenzie's series and I think that this is another series that I will like as much. This second installment of the series was as good as the first and I was hooked. Elias and Miller's story was a fast read as it was action packed and hot to boot. I enjoyed the return of the characters from the previous book and I can't wait to see where the series will go next. I would recommend this book to others.
Book 1, "The Darkest Corner", suffered from the first book syndrome, with info dumps, and a lot of time devoted to world building. It slowed the book down. Happily, "Gone to Dust" was able to jump off from where book left off and it was much more enjoyable. Part of it's appeal for me was the treasure hunt story line. I enjoy action and adventure movies and this had much of the same appeal - long lost treasure, conspiracies, danger, star-crossed lovers, romance, even a jungle. And yet, it suffers from uneven pacing, just like book though it's a smoother flow. The first chapter had me laughing; Miller was adorably cranky, and she's a bit of a wreck when she's on deadline. Do not come between her and her unfinished book, lol. She's a successful romance author, and a good friend of Tess, the heroine from the first book.
Miller and Elias have had the hots for each other for months now. Two months ago, they hooked up. Except they didn't. Elias left Miller high and dry. But he still keeps an eye on her so when her brother's escapades pull her into his not-entirely legit world, Elias is right there, ready to help. We get some fast-paced action and then it screeches to a halt when Miller's world collides with that of the Gravediggers and we get lots of exposition and details, so many detauls. Eve, the woman in charge of the Gravediggers, is still a mystery figure. I'd love to know more about her and I hope Hart will give us more insight in the next few books. I'm not entirely convinced she's one of the good guys.
I loved Miller and Tess's interactions and Miller and Elias's interactions, especially the humor. There was strong character development, a little more world building, and lots of action and tension. The ending was a bit of a let down however. Close to the end of the book, Elias screws up and with only a few pages to go, I couldn't see any chance for a happy ending. Then, out of nowhere, Elias sort of apologizes, with not nearly enough groveling, and boom! HEA. It was rushed, it was weak, and it was unsatisfying. I was happy they got their HEA, just not happy with how it happened. Up until then I was enjoying the book, it was fun and exciting. "Gone to Dust" was an entertaining book, good for a lazy summer day.
This fabulous book is second in the Gravediggers series and it features Miller Darling and Elias Cole. WHAT A CRAZY ADVENTURE! With one hot and heavy make-out session between them and then he walked away, she thought he didn't want her. He wants her but his priorities are backwards and revenge is front and center in his mind. Miller is awesome! Her personality is hilarious! That poor UPS man.
It's difficult to write about this story without giving too much away but I love the Gravediggers! Bravo Liliana Hart for another fantastic 5-star read! I can't wait for the next one.
Loved the story but the plot falls a little short after reading the first book. Miller and Elias' story did suck me in, so I still enjoyed it, but I missed out on the suspense and larger-than-life sense of adventure from the Darkest Corner. I am a sucker for stories with writers who meet their own fictional heroes in real life, and in this, Hart did very well. Read it for the romance but don't expect much from the adventure.
Gone to Dust (Gravediggers #2)
by Liliana Hart
Liliana Hart has made a captivating sequel to her Gravediggers series, taking the secondary characters from her original book. She adds to the dimensions of the characters adding a back story as appealing as the original legend she bases the adventure off. Miller is stuck in a book deadline, not knowing how or when she would raise her head from the pages of her book due in a week. The assault of her peace by the carrier who needs a signature. She is encapsulated into the mystery of her past and the burden of her inheritance. The story is based on idea of accepting love, and responsibility of the nature of the people we love. The longing and desire of Miller and Elias is palpable, and leaves you remembering the loves that have consumed you and left you wanting. The final pages giving the reader resolution to that ache and desire.
A wonderful second installment to the "Gravediggers" series. I Lovvved the chemistry between Elias yum) and. Miller who was his equal in every way.
Ms. Hart has given life (no pun intended) to a a group of unique and extraordinary soldiers and I can't wait for the next book.
Gone to Dust is the second book in "The Gravediggers" series. I ended up liking this book a lot more than the first one. It was a fast paced adventure that I flew through and was very reminiscent of Romancing the Stone. (One of my favorite 80s movies) I felt like I really got to know this couple a lot more in this book than I did Deacon and Tess in the first one. I enjoyed the chemistry and banter between Elias and Miller. Miller was hilarious and I loved her straight forward, dry sense of humor. Her affinity for comparing everything she saw to a scene in a movie was funny. Normally, all of the pop culture references would drive me nuts, but it just went so well with her personality that I found myself not minding it. Elias was a great match for her and I really bought into their HEA. I loved Elias and hope he gets his revenge some day!
I definitely recommend this one. It wouldn't hurt to read the first book, The Darkest Corner first, however. I really think you need to read that book to understand The Gravediggers and their purpose. There is a little explanation in this one so you won't be totally lost, but to fully get it all, read the first one as well.
This is the second book in the author's Gravedigger series, but the first in it I have read. First- the books is definitely for ADULT reading, due to sexual innuendo, dialogue and scenes! Secondly, you do not have to have read the previous book, as the author gives you the background you need ONLY, to make reading this book enjoyable, You WILL have to go back and read book 1 ( The Darkest Corner) if you want ALL the background on the team!. It is a very quick read, full of snappy dialogue that helps move the plot along. Admittedly, the plot isn't real deep, but with characters that are so charming and funny, you really don't mind, as you rapidly turn pages to see what happens next. And of course that also leads to making it a good beach read! If you want something light, funny, full of romance and action, this is the book for you!
If you like the book, book 3 in the series, Say No More, will be out next week!
Gone to Dust picks up right where book one leaves off. The Series opens back in Last Stop Texas, were the dead haven’t exactly been read their last rites. Miller Darling, a quirky romance novelist receives a ominous package, leaving her fearful for her brother’s life. Elias Cole, the love/hate interest, former Navy Seal and member of the Gravediggers, accompanies the author on a treasure hunt reminiscent of good ‘ole Indiana Jones.
I enjoyed this installment of the series much more than the first. I was vested in this couple, loved their interactions and banter. Miller could be a tad whiny at times, but Elias found his way to my heart. I found myself laughing out-loud on numerous occasions. There was a decent build in this plot, and I found myself pulling for their HEA. Unfortunately, I felt the resolution was rushed and sudden, which leaves me disappointed and let down. The ending of book two left me with more questions than answers. I can honestly say I am on the edge of my seat waiting for book three. I am dying to get answers, and finally be able to put the illusive pieces of this cast together.
This story tries really hard to have a "Romancing the Stone" vibe, but our characaters are no Kathleen Turner not Michael Douglas.
Instead we have a man of mystery, and author of romance stories, and a lost man and treasure. Glib talk that seems woefully out of place for the scenes happens with regularity. It's not really cute, it seems more like it's ill-fitting.
I tired hard to like the story but I just don't much care for it.
Liliana Hart is absolutely one of the best authors out there! All of her books are fantastic, and this series may be the best yet!! I have read both of the books released so far in this series, and they are both exceptionally well written. You will not be disappointed!! Read it!!
This was a good book. It had a good blend of romance, suspense, and historical information. If I had to pick a style to compare, it would be the Deep Six series by Julie Ann Walker. I love the characters. They are endearing, and their interaction is great. I can't wait to read the third book!
I dont think I have ever read a book quite like Gone to Dust so I was very intrigued see what it was about just based on the lovely blurb , so when I got the chance to read an Arc of this book I was so excited and read it as soon as I could and Omg this book was , fantastic. We follow Elias and Miller , Miller ( I just want to say that I love that she romance novelist !! ) is on the search to find her brother after getting a very disturbing package in the mail and Elias comes with her . Now Miller and Elias shared a hot kiss in the past so its obvious that there was something brewing between them, however as we get deeper and deeper into this story you see there relationship bloom into a spectacular romance . I loved them together , there where times where I worried it wouldn't work out between them, but I had nothing to worry about because this story reminded me again that love will find away no matter what. There was so much going on this book between the romance and the hunt for millers brother Liliana Hart had me hanging on to every single word needing to know what would happen next . Iam just so fascinated by the Grave diggers and I cannot wait to get my hands on the next book in this series .If you are looking for an sexy , unique, thrilling story you should definitely pick up a copy of Gone to Dust
