I love this series so much. And it was great getting to know more about Issac and nicco through their own perspectives. I just wish that their perspectives we're labed because it got confusing in the beginning of each chapter to figure out who it was. And that ending was devastating can't wait to read cities of the dead.
A great sequel and a fun read! Filled with magic and perfect for young adults
I really enjoyed this sequel to The Casquette Girls. It was fun and kept me guessing until the very last page. The Romeo Catchers is action packed, and it ends on a (sort of) cliffhanger...so I need book 3 asap! I loved the character development of Isaac and Adele and how their coven grew.

This did not end where I wanted it to, or rather in the way I wanted it to end. I am heartbroken. Book three had better be coming out next year and curse you Arden for making me care so much about witches and vampires again.
I really liked the Casquette girls. It was one I read on a whim earlier in the year expecting comforting familiarity. Which I certainly got mixed in with a dash of the truly strange, exciting paranormal adventure, historical mystery, beautifullt detailed sense of place and characters that suprisingly and completely stole my heart. Yes it's witches and vampires in New Orleans and ordinarily I'd day to any author making that attempt 'good luck coming up with something Anne Rice hasn't already done.' Arden not only tooj that challenge and ran with it, she excelled at it, redefining thay sub genre for a new generation. Her plots are always clever and action packed, and her narratives is always compelling.
The Romeo Catchers continues where book one left off and I think it's even better. I loved this book even when I was hating some of the things that happened in it. And Isaac - who sort of irritated me as a bolshy, too good to be true love interest in book 1, grew on me here to the point where I just wanted good things to happen for him. It's incredibly rare for me to connect with a male love interest character like this but he took off in this book -almost like he had wings.
It's harf not to feel some sympathy for Nici too altjoufh as Isaac's love rival I really don't want him to get anywhere.
Adele is touchingly human, relatable and occasionally very frustrating. I felt for her but I also wanted to shake her. Love her relationship with her father.
Would love to see more Dee and Cody felt a little underused but hopefully that's coming in book 3 - which I desperately need.
Two points here ; It gets on.my nerves that now love triangles are out of fashion so maby people sneer so vocally about them, putting an author down when what she's actually done is not a live triangle but a realistic portrayal of what it's like to loce one person but feel a compulsive loyalty to another. These things hapoen. Veing a teen and negotiating that emotional minefield is hard. This was cleverly and sensitivly done.
Second point: this has a depth and emotional honesty that you find in so few YA novels now and absolutely needs to be sung out about.
Loved this book even as it killed me. Will reanimate in time for book three which can't cone soon enough.
I would give this book 4.25 out of 5 stars
I enjoyed this book even more than I did the first in the series, this is probably due to my connection to the characters. I am just so invested in these characters and what's going on with them. There is a lot going on in the story and the plot could get convoluted at times but I enjoy the story so much.
I did think the dual POV added to the story but I definitely still prefer Adele's POV.
I have so many unanswered questions and it is going to absolutely kill me waiting for the next book to come out who knows when.
I really really enjoyed this.
THAT WAS A RIDE OMG. I swear that ending gave me whiplash I was so shocked. Surprisingly even better than the first. I especially loved the alternating POVs between Adele and Isaac. A true superpower of a job by Arden, as always. I, of course, always want more Desiree and am excited to see what'll happen with her storyline in the next book (of which I am so beyond ready for). I'm also excited about the introduction of new character Codi. I'm just excited. The ending left me in the lurch I swear with those cliffhangers. For 600+ pages it sure went by fast even if I gave myself a while to enjoy it and make it last. I just need to know what happens next.

I enjoyed this novel! Clearly I needed a reread of book 1 but this book was a better followup and kept me hooked throughout!
I give this 4 1/2 stars. I had looked forward to this book as soon as I ended the first one last year. I loved the characters and the description on New Orleans even in post storm. I was rooting for Nicco in the first book and still am rooting for Nicco. You really need to read the first book to follow along in this book. This book has more magic, more saving New Orleans on many different levels and vampires. My only two problems I had with this book was when she used a different language, most of the time you knew what was being said but there were times that I would have liked a translation. The other thing I didn't like was the ending, there were way to many questions left at the end, I hope that means more books.
This book was amazing, I loved both book and have already been suggesting them to people. I will be reading any book ever written by the author
Enjoyable story. I preferred the first installment of the series to this one,. I found that this plot was very slow and predictable. I also has some issue with the dialect. The use of French and Southern accents in modern day New Orleans off putting. I will continue to read the series in hopes the next book may be as good as the first,
Such a magical ride! I loved Casquette Girls, so I had high expectations for this one and it definitely lived up to the hype
These books just keep getting better and better. What the first one lacked (more developed characters) this one made up for it. The romance is more rounded and not so "insta" as in The Casquette Girls (at least the boys didn't annoy me as much, hah); and still preserves that amazing southern atmosphere.
OMG I loved this book. I love the series and I can't wait for the next book! I need it now.
The Romeo Catchers is the second installment of The Casquette Girls series. I highly recommend that those interested in this book read the first book, The Casquette Girls, before picking up this one since this book picks up right where the last one left off (plus the first book offer a very unique approaches to telling a story featuring vampires). This book focused on continuing a number of themes from the first book - the other side of the love triangle introduced in the first book through Isaac and Adele's relationship, understanding magical abilities, discovering unknown family histories - but introduced new ones as well. Readers are provided with stories of the Medici's sordid past in Florence, Italy which presented elements of not just historical fiction and the supernatural, but some medical history and alchemy as well.
In terms of the writing, Ms. Arden continues to paint scenes of post-Katrina New Orleans throughout the book. The city itself played a vital role in character development. The characters stayed true to themselves from the first book. The author did a good job of tying this story back to the unanswered questions in the first book, especially through Nico's pasts. While I felt that the casquette girls aspect was featured predominantly throughout the first book, I didn't quite get this from The Romeo Catchers. I also didn't find myself getting that level of creativity and uniqueness that I got from the first book. The story behind the creation of vampires was pretty standard. The witches' side of the story was also somewhat standard but there are still some unanswered questions. I would be very interested to see where the author takes things in the next book.
This is the kind of sequel you want. It draws you deeper into the characters, expanding relationships and the world they live in. This novel is so well crafted and complex and beautiful. It shows you the real horror of everyday post-Katrina New Orleans and what the people who live there went through. Can't wait for the third novel.
interesting. had a lot going on and it was inclusive enough to catch my attention. really high-quality self pubbed book!

OMG!!!!!! This book was fantastic! I enjoyed it, not as much as the first but it was still amazing!!!! I loved the fact that we got to see issac's POV. I will admit the first half of the book was kinda boring, it took a while to really get into it. But man that second half killed me. Sadness, rage, hate and frustration but all in a good way. I was on the edge of my seat while reading!!! My question now is, is there gonna be another book? I'm not done! I'm addicted and I want more!!!!!
