The Playboy Bachelor by Rachel Van Dyken is an amazing five star read. Really loved this sweet, sexy story.
Highly Recommend it to all readers.
**My thanks to Netgalley and Forever (Grand Central Publishing) for providing me with a free copy for an honest review**
Margot has isolated herself ever since she was a teenager at the wheel and she got into an accident with her parents in the back of the car and they did not survive, while she lost her lower leg.
Bentley is a twin who has the weight of his family on his shoulders, he suffers with anxiety and also helps to keep his brother happy.
When Margots grandmother bids on his at an auction, he finds that it is his former best friend and person he ghosted after her accident that he has to spend the weekend with if he wants the VP job in marketing at the family business, but when he gets there, other plans have been put into place.
This book has two people facing up to their past and confronting the hurt that neither of them have come to terms with and also growing up and helping each other and stepping out of their comfortable place to help the other.
I really enjoyed this book and cannot wait to read Brants book.
Margot and Bentley are ex-best friends that haven't seen each other in a long time. Both set up by their respective grandparents at an auction. Bentley has to spend the next 30 days dating Margot and soon being just friends is too hard. The lines seem to blend between friends and lovers. The past is brought up and gets cleared so their happily ever after can truly begin.
This is book two of the Bachelors of Arizona series and yet again Rachel Van Dyken gives us a love story with some laughs! Margot and Bentley were inseparable, best friends who were each secretly in love with one another. Bentley thought she deserved better than him and she thought she wasn’t good enough for him. One day she needed him more than she ever needed him before and he didn’t show up. Now ten years later he has to spend a month with her and complete a list of tasks to earn a position in his Grandfathers company. He thought it would be smooth sailing but this is not the Margot he remembers. I always love reading Rachel’s books she gives us a fun love story. Bentley is a guy you don’t want to like but you can’t help but fall in love with him. Margot is shut off to the world because she blames herself for a tragic accident and although she felt abandoned by her best friend he makes her realize how great they are for each other. Another favorite in a series and a definite recommendation to all my book Friends!
Another amazing read by Susan Mallery.
I can never get enough of her sweet romance that always makes me laugh, swoon and smile
Second Chance Girl was absolutely amazing. I fell more in live with the characters with every word.
When it comes to Ms. Mallery I can always expect a great read. I'm so excited for more!
I used to love Rachel's books, but I am disappointed with her latest releases. I feel like she keeps writing the same "hero" in her newest books. Every single one has a different woman on his bed every night and then he meets the heroine who suddenly changes him. The heroine of course, had limited experience. That's what happens in this book too. I wouldn't have minded so much if I hadn't been forced to read about Bentley having sex with another woman. That brought some unpleasant memories and feelings back to me and it was bad. I wasn't happy with that scene or the focus on Bentley's behavior. I have the feeling that Brant's book will share some of these bad traits and I am not happy with that. (edit, I have now read Brant's book and I can confirm that he is not hero material too)
Rachel Van Dyken is one of my absolutely favorite authors. Absolutely fun read - and The Playboy Bachelor is one of the best! Fun, sexy, easy read!
This was a great book, not as funny as the previous one but still an amazing read by this author. This story only made me want to continue this series because I felt like the story was totally different from the other one and I can see that there is diversity in stories. So it won't feel like we are reading the same story but with different characters names. I have loved every book that I have read by Rachel V. Dyken and this one was no exception.
Rachel Van Dyken, I love you for finally getting the hottest, wildest Wellington a woman who does not fall easily to his charms. Margot is exactly what he needs to show him that love does exist even a man like him. The chemistry between them is cute and adorable. Loved how hard Bentley is working to get back in her good graces and boy funny all the way. Margot is one tough cookie and boy the way she makes Bentley squirm all the way. The relationship they have may have been torn but this is one guy who is trying all his charm, wit and most of all putting his heart out for the one that got away in his life. Rachel Van Dyken created such an awesome series about billionaire bachelors who are finding out that matchmakers are ganging up in every way showing them love does exist for them. This is one series that will make you want more and I for one cannot wait for the last twin in this family to read about his story. The Wellington’s are one family you don’t want to miss by Rachel Van Dyken.
a fantastic read from beginning to end can tbelieve i waited so long to finish
I love this series so far. Bentley was yummy and sexy!I know that I am supposed to not like him because he is plain and simple a manwhore but I loved to hate him!
Great read!

Rachel Van Dyken made me fall in love with The Wellington's and I've been anxious to read all of their stories and see where this series leads us.
After the sweet and sexy first book, I was lured in and knew a little bit of what to expect from book two - more scheming - more banter - a hero who's not quite ready to give himself up to love and needs a little work to make him lovable - a heroine who'd make an awesome best friend and a plot that will grab hold of you and keep you reading.
Bentley was probably my least favorite brother - but I quickly grew to understand him and love him within the pages of this book. He could be a jerk, he could make me angry and yet there was still something about him that sucked me in.
Margot won me over in no time - making me wish she was a real life friend. She'd been thorugh a lot and it had affected her present life.
There story had many dimensions - a touch of unrequited love, friends to lovers, a bit of second chances and so much more - not that I'd identify one of these as the main trope just that it has feels of all of them.
I really enjoyed the journey these two went on together finding that they really had something between them.
This book put a lump in my throat at the beginning and kept it there the whole way through. Margot and Bentley's story completely broke my heart. From teenagers that were best friends who turned into strangers just trying to exist through life and not feel. My heart broke for what these two went through and when they reconnected, the mistrust between two people who truly loved each other once upon a time. Their story broke me, but slowly put me back together as they found their way back to one another. Great read! I couldn't put it down.
What a great story. Once I started, I couldn’t seem to put it down. The main characters had me intrigued right from the beginning. They were easy to relate to, and I felt as though I could connect with them. I felt this book was very well written, and the characters had depth, which is one of the things I enjoy most about books.
I love everything that Rachel Van Dyken writes and this book was no exception. Her charming storytelling is what sets her stories apart from others. The characters are sweet and endearing which leaves the reader hoping for their happy ending. Bentley and Margot were once friends than have turned into hurtful enemies. Each one dealing with issues of their own while pushing each other away. Thanks to a little matchmaking and trickery by their families these two are forced to work out their problems and discover the love they feel buried deep inside. This was an excellent second chance romance that gives you all the good feelings.
Sooooooo....I hate to say this, but I quite torn on this book. And I really think it's just bad timing on my part because I am finding myself completely bored lately with anything I read. Yes- it's a fucking tragedy for this book nerd and I hate it. Get me out this hellish place where I can't find myself getting totally enamored by any books!!!
Oh right, back to the back. As I said, I am torn on this one. I love the first book in this series. So I was excited to see what would happen to the next brother, Bentley in The Playboy Bachelor.
Margot and Bentley used to best friends. Then a horrible event happens, followed immediately by another horrific event, which leaves these two to abandon their friendship and never talk again. Fast forward to now, where Bentley is auctioned off at Bachelor Charity and is bought by Margot's grandmother. Unbeknownst to either of them, Grandma Nadine has a few things up her sleeve.
Margot has been a recluse and shut-in since the life changing event. But she has still been able to move forward in ways with her life. She has become a best-selling author with her romance books and seems to be fine with life as is. Until she learns that Bentley will be coming to her home for an entire weekend.
But once the weekend fun starts, Bentley finds out it's for more and accidentally drops that new tidbit on Margot. After that - it's these two getting along one minute and the next minute ready to tear the other one in half. This is where I found myself going, "can you just fuck and get it over with already." And they do, finally, but damn it took too long (for this reader) for them to get there. They both came across as annoying with their issues (yes, I know they both went through some huge shit), but after that many years, you'd think they'd have grown up a bit and be able to talk about there issues like adults and move on.
Overall, it was just ok for me. And I hate to say that because I love RVD and I will read anything she writes. Again, it mosts likely bad timing and all that horse shit, so if the book sounds interesting to you, I say go for it. Because more than likely, you'll love it.
A sweet loving read full of second chances and starting over.
I didn’t like Brantley all that much but I loved that Margot stood her ground. I just need a little more from the characters. I prefer first person writing but overall this is another great RVD read full of swoony redemption sweet.
3 Wine Glass #Review of The Playboy Bachelor by Rachel Van Dyken
Rachel Van Dyken presents readers with a fun enemies turned lovers plot, blending plenty of angst into the mix, in The Playboy Bachelor.
Margot McCleery had the perfect life growing up, despite being a quiet bookworm, until an accident took away everything. Her parents. Her leg. Even her best friend. Now she leads a quite life as a romance author, never leaving her home out of fear, and dodging her Grandma Nadine's well-intentioned interventions. But Margot's seemed to have lost that last battle when her grandma bids on and wins at a bachelor auction, and said bachelor turns up at her own front door.
The last thing Bentley Wellington wants to do is face his childhood best friend, the woman he abandoned when she needed him most, but in order to please his grandfather and earn a coveted position at his family's company, Bentley must spend the next thirty days with Margot, completing a list left for him courtesy of both of their grandparents. As Bentley follows that list and pushes Margot out of her comfort zone, he never expected to be pushed himself - right out of his womanizing ways and right into the arms of the one woman he has always loved.
The Playboy Bachelor provided a fun and witty dialogue with a wealth of humor. Margot and Bentley gave as good as they got, knowing just which buttons to push on each other for the most damage, and the most reward. While these two could get pretty mean in their discourse, they were evenly matched. The push and pull between them spans the entire book, and while that kept me turning the pages, the lack of communication and the drawing out of their problems turned frustrating fast. Margot and Bentley share a history that was deep, dark, and full of heartache. While I could sympathize with their turmoil and reasoning, I couldn't get past their impulsiveness and quickness to anger. Which impaired my ability to really like them. I also had some problems with the sex scenes in the story. The first sex scene was anticlimactic, and felt like it was missing pieces, which was surprising coming from this veteran author. Another nagging little aspect was that despite continuous chatter and jokes about women poking holes in condoms, the couple never seemed to use any themselves. :-/
All in all, The Playboy Bachelor was an okay read. For some reason, this series by RVD just isn't doing it for me like all of her other books. However, I am really interested to see how the next book, Brant's story, goes. Each of The Bachelors of Arizona can be read as a stand-alone in my opinion, because while family members and past characters do show up in the story, the overall story-arc isn't integral to each stories enjoyment.
