I loved this book so much. Calliope Crown has just learned that her father will lose everything in a malpractice case. She can’t continue going to college for summer school and, instead, will go to work at her aunt’s cupcake bakery. The only problem with this is that Calliope, formerly known as Callie Cow, has been on a weight loss journey and is incredibly attracted to buttercream frosting.
The story talks about the summer, the relationship with her aunt, and Callie’s growth through her experience. Through the use of her YouTube channel and the love of a certain handyman, she realizes that she’s more than the name Callie Cow that was bestowed upon her in high school.
Awesome story, great characters, highly recommend. 🙂
Cal had said she had weighed one hundred and seventy two pounds three years ago. Cal said she would not have plastered her face on YouTube. She had dropped seventy two pounds and three dress sizes in two years now Cal had a new direction.. She was a well oiled machine. She had learned you had to change from the inside out. In three months Cal would have her final transformation on her own YouTube channel Viv was Cal’s little sister and was usually paranoid. Cal’s family suffers from inferiority issues . Viv said she was worried about their dad. A thirteen year old patient had died on the operating table when their dad was operating and the family was suing their dad even though he had been cleared by the board. Their mom doesn’t want the case to go to trial as they could lose everything even their house. Cal decides she can’t register for her next semester’s classes. Cal decided to drive home. Cal loves plans and structure not surprises. Cal will have no more money from her parents and she had been spoiled and they had paid for everything but not anymore. Cal was starting her first job at Delilah’s Cupcakery in Florida. Delilah was Cal’s aunt but not easy to to deal with. Cal’s dad had set the summer job up for her.
I just couldn’t keep interested in this story. It also dragged for me. I am sure someone else will love this just wasn’t for me.
