This time its Trevor of the brotherhood to fall to the dark side. Trevor, and Levi and Natalie.
Never got around to finishing my review but here are my favorite quotes from the story:
"Yeah, well it turns out my new boss isn't just hot enough to seduce half of Texas's female population, but has a heart of gold, too."
" . . . What you've got to understand, son, is that a good woman by your side isn't a liability or a weakness. It's the best damned blessing there is, and the sweetest, most reliable anchor you'll ever have, because you'll use that fire to keep her shielded."
"You meed a woman you think about before you go to sleep and first thing when you wake up, she's worth chasing no matter how messy it is."
"Just don't think we're suited long-term."
"Don't think you're suited, or don't trust yourself?"
"What difference does it make?"
"Because one's being wise to the future. The other's livin' in the past." Axel kicked one foot up on the edge of the table then crossed the other over it. "You figure out which one's driving you, and you'll have your answer."
This was good. The series was not what I thought it was going to be when I started reading them but I might continue with it.

These books are not disappointing at all. Each guy's past or hang up is different. All of the dangers in their ladies past are different. Trevor and Natalie are great, plus you throw in cute little Levi. I loved it. Can't wait to see what Knox is going to be up against.
Travis was a college dropout but owned his own business- a bar -The Den. Trevor’s home was the ranch with his horses and border collie. Trevor had learned from his brothers in the last ten years it was the right focus and a little ingenuity made anything attainable. Normally hiring Natalie would have been a no brainer but the idea of men hitting on Natalie nonstop had almost prevented Trevor from hiring Natalie. Natalie had said she would be the best waitress he ever had if only Trevor gave her a chance. It had been the desperation behind the vow that had Trevor offer her the position. So far she’d made good on her claim. Jake and Zeke were Trevor’s Haven brothers. Then Trevor got up to correct Natalie as she pulled her cell phone out and left the floor and that had been the second time this shift. Trevor had made it clear no cell phones while working so he went to talk to Natalie but his brothers did tell him not to fire her to at least talk to her first. It had taken him three weeks to hire two girls and The other girl hadn’t worked out. Between his genes and long term relationships being a pipe dream to dangerous to pursue Natalie admitted to trevor she had a son who was seven= Levi and her mother was with him and scared to death of Natalie’s ex husband Wyatt. When Trevor asked if there was anything he had to worry about and if her mother had a reason to be afraid. Natalie said she wouldn’t say her mother’s fears were unfounded but not something would have to deal with. Trevor knew about the type of tantrums Natalie meant when she said Wyatt shot then around a small audience. Trevor had lived with his father’s tyrannical fists for seven years before his mother died and turned his world upside down. But Trevor told Natalie to go home and deal with the problem. She could carry her phone but to check it in private he didn’t want to be accused of playing favorites by the other employees. Next time let him or whoever is managing the club that you have an issue and need to go home and deal with it. Wyatt had stepped front and center into Trevor's crosshairs. Natalie had been panicked reading her mother’s texts but equally as terrified of losing her job. Natalie had been an RN but that was years and a bad decision ago. All Natalie had from the divorce was her car and the clothes she had packed for her and Levi. It reminded her of how much she had given up of herself until Wyatt literally knocked her back to her senses. Just once Natalie wished she could feel safe again. To actually believe she could call the police and expect some kind of help. When Natalie had went into Trevor’s office to interview for him she had been knocked for a loop but to now know he also had a heart of gold….. Wyatt was a successful plastic surgeon. Levi deserved so much more than the father he had, he deserved a justice system that wouldn’t turn a blind eye to an abusive man but in the end Wyatt’s good-old- boy network had proven stronger than human decency. Trevor went to Natalie’s address and heard a man and woman quietly arguing and one of the voices was Natalie’s. Then Trevor walked up to her and acted like he was her boyfriend right in front of Wyatt. Wyatt had decided after the divorce that he wanted his wife back. Trevor and Natalie did start a light and easy relationship after him telling Wyatt he was her boyfriend but it quickly changes. Also Wyatt’s abuse increases.
I absolutely loved this book and hav a new book boyfriend Trevor yum! I loved the pace and the plot. I also loved Natalie and Trevor together they are so hot. I also loved how Trevor is protective of Natalie and Levi and how he felt about them and quickly loved Levi. I loved the ending. My heart went out to Levi to be so young and have to go through what he had to from his father. I could find nothing to criticize in this book- very happily. I loved the characters and the ins and outs of this book and I highly recommend.
In the third installment of this series, Rhenna Morgan is not slowing down. At this point you can just call these reviews about the Men Of Haven love letters. In this book we get to spend time with resident cowboy/flyboy Trevor Raines. We also get to meet another fantastic heroine, Natalie Jordan, and her young son Levi. While I am not really a fan of young kids in my books (the kind that use them as manipulation), I should have just shut my damn thoughts down, because at this point I know I can trust where this author leads me. If you haven’t given this series a chance, you’re really missing out. While all the men are hot and protective, it’s the women in these books that make these reads so damn good.
Natalie Jordan is living in a crappy apartment with her young son and mom. She’s divorced from her abusive plastic-surgeon husband. She’s trying to get on her feet by working at Trevor’s bar and trying to get back to nursing school. Life is not easy for her right now, especially starting a new job and dealing with her unhinged ex. Trevor sees something in her when he hires her. She’s tough and goes above and beyond to do a god job she has no experience in. Trevor has a rule about no cell phone usage while working.
Trevor Raines is part of the Haven Brotherhood and has various business holdings. His true love is his ranch and flying his planes. He also skirts the law to help people for the greater good. While Nat is on duty he notices her on her phone texting and he’s kind of disappointed, because he thinks she’s a great worker, but he’s also attracted to her. When her phone rings, he’s had enough and goes to confront her. While Nat is on the phone outside, he hears her conversation with her mom. Turns out that her ex is trying to get into their apartment to take their son Levi. Nat tells her not to open the door under any circumstance and she will be home as soon as she can. One thing that will set Trevor off is any women in dire straights. He tells her to go home and take care of her family. Meanwhile, Trevor gets her address and is not far behind.
When Trevor shows up he hears them arguing. Trevor also knows what kind of man he is dealing with. He walks up the stairs to Nat’s apartment and puts his arm around her and pretends to be her boyfriend. This helps and hinders. Trevor is not backing down, especially now that he knows Nat’s Ex abused not only her but her son as well. This is the main reason Natalie divorced his sorry ass. They keep this ruse up and Trevor, Nat, Nat’s mom, and son form a lovely friendship.
Trevor and Natalie are a slow burn. Natalie has some trust issues. Trevor has a quick temper. Yet, Trevor wold never hurt women or children. He forms such a beautiful relationship with Levi. There’s a sub-plot running through the story that ties nicely into her ex’s comeuppance. There’s a big showdown, Natalie jumping to conclusions, Trevor and his temper. But in the end they figure out their shortcomings and love wins the day. At the end of this fantastic book, you will need some Kleenex. What a beautiful, emotional journey. To say I am waiting with bated breath for Knox’s book is an understatement.
If you’re looking for a meaty, emotionally, sexy, loving, and extremely well-written book, look no further. This book can stand alone, but you would be missing out on the previous two. I can’t recommend these book highly enough.
Happy Reading!
This was really good, mostly. I think I really enjoyed each character a lot. Their story was sweet and nice, but I found it difficult to see just why they contracted themselves so much. Especially Trevor. He, in the same scene, would waffle back and forth on what he was planning to do. One minute he was just going to be friends with Natalie, the next paragraph it changed. Natalie stayed more on course with her feelings. She always knew what she wanted, but that didn't mean she was going to act on them. It was always Trevor who did the pushing.
The other issues I have are how they deal with Natalie's ex. I guess this time around, the Brotherhood was a little more on the wrong side of the law and that put me off some.
I loved Natalie's kid. I loved the family atmosphere the whole story and series brings.
LOVED LOVED LOVED this book!!
Trevor is immediately taken with Natalie who happens to be his employee. He follows her home one evening after she receives an upsetting call from her ex. When the ex confronts her, Trevor steps in and comes to her rescue pretending to be her boyfriend. This starts an act that they feel the need to continue so her son has a story to tell his father. The last thing either of them expect is for it to turn into something real.
Of course Trevor isn't as perfect as he is made out to be. He has his own demons he needs to deal with plus he does a few things that aren't exactly legal.
Great mix of love, HOT scenes, humor and drama all rolled into one amazing story!

This is Trevor's story and what a story it is. Trevor Raines is just like the other brothers of the Haven Brotherhood. He doesn't think he is relationship material because of his past. But the one thing that will have him protecting a woman is when a man is using her for a punching bag. He doesn't believe it is what a man should do to a woman or trying to intimidate her isn't good either. So when his new waitress has to leave work early because of her ex-husband, he follows her home just to make sure she is okay.
Natalie Jordan is finally trying to get her life in order, but her ex-husband won't stop trying to intimidate her and try to use her son as some kind of leverage. She knows that Wyatt is up to something, but she hasn't figured it out yet.
While Trevor and Natalie grow closer and Levi worms his way into Trevor's heart, Trevor is having feelings he has never felt before. Natalie is trying to not think that Trevor might turn out like Wyatt. She knows deep down that Trevor can never be anything like Wyatt.
So can Trevor make his feelings known and Natalie trust her feelings? Will Levi make all of the Brotherhood see just what Trevor sees in him? What will Wyatt do in the end?
I am loving each of these brothers and I can't wait to see what happens with Knox in the next story.

The third book in the Haven Brotherhood series and this is Trevor's story. Trevor owns a nice bar and likes to fly planes. He's not looking for love or a relationship, just having a good time. Even though his brothers seem to be pairing off at an alarming rate Trevor is happy with an easy life. After hiring a new waitress, Trevor starts rethinking things. Natalie is a small and curvy, hardworking, single mom. He gave her a shot and she's proven her worth with the customers and with Trevor. After having some issues one night with her ex, Trevor makes sure she's home alright and finds himself having to intervene by acting like Natalie's new boyfriend in front of her ex. Finding that pulling her close and pretending to be lovers feels awfully right and good, the two decide to give it a try for real. Only problem, Natalie's ex is doing everything he can to cause issues.
I really enjoyed Trevor's personality and his cowboy charm. I could almost picture his panty melting half smile/smirk and his character was fun and sweet! Natalie is a great heroine too, trying to rebuild her life after her abusive ex, she's strong, smart & determined. Both characters are quite likable and they spark well together. I enjoyed the entire book front to finish. I'm liking these boys of the Haven Brotherhood!

Trevor Raines didn't think he deserved a happily ever after. He thought the baggage he carried from his past was too much. He owned Crossroads bar, but that wasn't his passion. His passion was flying and his ranch. When he hired a new waitress, he tried not noticing the way her hips swayed or how beautiful she was. When Natalie runs into trouble with her ex-husband, Trevor didn't think twice before jumping in the middle.
One dinner was all it took for Trevor to realize there may be more between them, even though Natalie appreciated the help with her ex, she had a son to consider. She wasn't ready for anything more than a casual friendship.
I love these brothers. They are real and down to earth, sexy and oh so protective. Trevor has more than his fair share of swoon worthy moments and the chemistry is chart topping for Trevor and Natalie.
I can't wait to see what Ms. Morgan does next.

This is Trevor's story. He has been known as the resident one-night stand guy. However, when all of his brothers come together and are trying to find a way to make the lucrative drug smuggling business less dangerous, he has to call on his brothers, family, and his own determination to figure out whether or not he can claim Natalie – does he deserve her?
Natalie is struggling to make ends meet and fighting to keep her son away from her crazy, possessive ex-husband. She knows that her ex isn't a good guy and even her son knows that he has a crazy temper.
When sparks fly between Natalie and Trevor, can they both overcome their own insecurities to find a happiness neither of them knew could be possible? I loved Natalie's son, Levi. He's adorable and also, such a stand up kid.
This was a great story and I can't wait for more!

This is the third book in the series, and I highly recommend that you read them in order and get to enjoy all that the Haven Brotherhood men have to offer (*phwoar!)
Once again, Ms. Morgan gives us a situation which brings back long buried issues and forces a Haven Brotherhood member to consider how to react and resolve an issue he faces now. Trevor is clearly a really good guy, yet possibly the last to want to get involved in Natalie's mess, given the memories it raises. But he soon finds that he can't resist.
I am a bit of a sucker for stories which involve children and someone stepping up to ensure they get the best start in life, so this was a real pleasure to read. And once things get straightened out, it is super hot and sweet too.
Another great addition to the series, thank you, Ms. Morgan.

I don’t know that I liked this one quite as much as the previous books and it’s definitely a slower pace, but it’s still pretty good!
Natalie works for Trevor at his bar – he’s a pretty easy-going boss with his only rule being no cellphones. Trevor continuously catches Natalie on hers until he finally overhears a phone conversation that has him concerned for his newest employee and the only woman to have caught his eye in a while. Natalie escaped an abusive ex who had enough power to manage to get joint custody of her precious son, now her ex spends much of the time he doesn’t have his son terrorizing Natalie. Then Trevor steps in and nips that in the bud… by claiming her as his.
I love Trevor’s possessive protectiveness, he’s definitely an alpha male and he’ll do anything to protect his woman. My one complaint about this book was Natalie – she just didn’t have a back bone and I didn’t like the way she treated Trevor towards the end of the book. My favorite part, as always with this series, was the Brotherhood. They’re a sexy set of guys and I love the glimpses of each of the other guys we get in each of these books. I look forward to the next installment!
Trevor is the perfect example of a player until Natalie walks into his bar for a job. All of a sudden every instinct comes alive where she's concerned. A run in with her ex, cements that protectiveness she inspires. But when his family is threatened along with Natalie, he's ready to put everything on the line to keep them safe. And the Haven Brotherhood is right there beside him, backing him up every step of the way, ready to take on the enemy that dares to look at them with bad intentions.
Ladies hang on to your hearts because you won't be able to stop yourselves from falling a little bit in love with Trevor. Every girl needs a Trevor of her own.
A on-the-edge romance that is heart-pounding good, surprisingly tender at moments, and super charged with action and heated bliss! Rhenna Morgan writes some fabulous characters and amazing stories. Ones that compel and hypnotize and ones with loads of action and great romance. Claim & Protect might very well be a favorite too. I REALLY liked the hero and the heroine...she was ridiculously awesome! This story matches the title and I can't wait to see what else Miss Morgan brings to us in the future.
There’s this shiny ideal of the white knight who is perfect and kind and all the things that make the rescuer untainted by real life. The Haven Brotherhood (both series and characters) are none of that. They are rough-talking, hard-living, explicitly sexual men who are willing to skate the edges of the law to help those they consider family, and even just those they find deserving. It’s one of the reasons this series appeals to me because it’s showing you don’t have to be perfect to make a difference.
Claim and Protect lives up to the promise of the previous books with people who came from harsh backgrounds learning to open up to love thanks to the nurturing environment of the Haven Brotherhood. Sure, maybe the term “nurturing” would stick in the craw of these rowdy guys, but maybe not. Unlike a lot of portrayals, these men are in touch with their feelings, at least where family is concerned, and they have a firm sense of right and wrong. They won’t stand for injustice even when the law cannot or will not act on it. Nurturing and healing the soul seems to be one of the main criteria in choosing new brothers. They look for good people who haven’t gotten a good shake in this life, and do their best to repair the damage.
Odd to say after spending so much time talking about the brotherhood, but it felt as though the brothers played less of an active role in Claim and Protect than in the earlier books. The brothers and Trevor’s foster father are key to Trevor learning he can, and should, aspire to a loving relationship despite his history, but they largely play a supportive role, giving him the confidence to overcome his past even as he attempts to help Natalie and her son Levi.
To avoid spoilers, I’ll say only that Natalie falls under the protection of the brotherhood long before Trevor accepts the connection thanks to a potentially dangerous situation putting both her and her son at risk, but it’s also clear his chosen family recognizes the claim even while Trevor denies it. Trevor has something in common with Natalie, enough both to bring them together and tear them apart. While the implications of his doubts as they relate to Levi never get spoken, Natalie helps Trevor see the role choice and character play in who you become.
Like the other books, mistakes are made on all sides, but the strength of this series is in not only how they resolve the consequences, but how each character owns up to their involvement in the problem. Part of what makes this work is the mistakes are rooted not in accident, but deliberate choices based on trust and risk, tied into how the main characters feel about each other and the weight of their personal demons.
In the beginning, I referred to knights, and I think this is one of the reasons I’m enjoying the series so much. This is very much like the Arthurian tales. Not the ones cleaned up for children, but the original ones where there were those trying to undermine the dream at every turn, using whatever means available, and the knights themselves were real people with failings but also with a determination to bring about a better world than they were born into. Consider it a modern round table with hot sex and tangible love if you will. Unlike the original, though, there’s no question of the brothers turning on each other and falling for the same women.
Speaking of the hot sex, once again, this slides toward the risque, and may end up going further than I’m comfortable with, which would be a pity. However, though there’s talk, all action occurs off-screen while the consent (my particular hot button) is made very clear.
What I haven’t talked about yet is the deep connection Trevor makes not just with Natalie, but with her son. He recognizes Levi as a person in his own right and wants to help him learn not all men are as manipulative and dangerous as Levi’s father. But more than that, he seems to honestly enjoy Levi’s company. If the brotherhood took a back seat, it was to give enough space to establish this father/son relationship as much as the romantic one, and I’m a sucker for people who see kids as more than appendages who won’t be able to think until they reach adulthood. Trevor’s bond is visible on the page, and raises its own consequences as Natalie has to measure the damage to Levi if her own relationship with Trevor doesn’t work out.
This story has themes in common with the others, but in each case, Morgan has found a new twist to those themes and peopled the tale with characters who feel real, live with purpose, and form strong connections, not just survive. I remain hooked on the Haven Brotherhood.
P.S. I received this title from the publisher through NetGalley in return for an honest review.
Trevor Raines lives on the edge of legal. A good guy doing bad things to save lives, the only rules he follows are the Brotherhood's, and there's nothing in the world that will change that. Until Natalie Jordan walks into his life…
Natalie’s only interest is in making a fresh start. She’s a woman with a plan, and the plan doesn’t include a man with secrets, no matter how kind—or intoxicating—he is. But this cowboy is determined to break down her walls, keep her safe and make her his.
Trevor had no interest in settling down, but there’s something entirely too appealing about the woman he can’t stay away from. There’s only one thing to do—change his plans…and hers. When Natalie's ex resurfaces to threaten her new life, Trevor will move heaven and earth to make sure the bastard can’t hurt her again. Except saving Natalie means outing his own secrets—and it could mean losing her forever…
Review:
I really liked this book it was edgy and sweet at the same time.
This is the first time reading this Author and this series and found a new Author and series to add to my TBR pile. The idea of the Haven Brotherhood and the men in it was very intriguing to me. These men use not always up and up ways to help people. They are rough and edgy, but with heart and the wanting to help others who cannot help themselves. Which leads Trevor to help Natalie, he wants to get rid of her because he know she will be a complication to his life, but steps up and helps her. The chemistry between the two cannot be denied and what starts as helping turns into something so much more, a family. I loved Trevor and Natalie, they really were awesome and a great pair and I was rooting for them the whole way. The scenes with Trevor and Natalie's son are so sweet, I loved the interaction between the two of them. Another thing going for this is that chemistry between Trevor and Nat and excellently written intimate scenes, they were super hot with lots of emotion too.
Great story and characters! I was captivated from the very beginning.

Claim & Protect is another 5-star addition to the Haven Brotherhood series by Rhenna Morgan. This book’s hero is Trevor Raines – cowboy, bar owner, luxury plane pilot – who has a heart as big as Texas and a checkered past. Not one to settle down, his romances are closer to flings than anything permanent. That is, until Natalie puts in her job application at the bar. When he inserts himself into her life as a form of protection against an abusive ex, sparks fly.
Natalie Jordan walked away from money, luxury, and not having to want for anything but she also walked away from a man who physically abused both her and their young son, Levi. Now, to help make ends meet, Natalie finds herself in healthcare industry by day and a waitress by night. When her ex, Wyatt, comes beating down her door, her hot new boss is there to save the day this time. What happens when Wyatt comes back? Trevor and his brothers will move mountains to protect Natalie and Levi, but will it be enough if Natalie learns what the Haven Brotherhood lifestyle is all about?
Mad Skillz – Rhenna Morgan has them!! I love everything about Claim & Protect. Trevor is a perfect southern gentleman all sweet, sexy, and steamy. He cares and protects his own. Natalie is trying to rebuild her broken life. Her character is strong and determined. Natalie and Trevor are both likable as a couple and as individuals. Both characters have uniqueness, yet are perfectly paired in the author's brotherhood world. The chemistry between them is electric and realistically written. I was drawn into the story from the very beginning and everything about it kept me engaged. The love scenes were steamy and sensual not raunchy.
The plot was smooth and the entire story was perfectly paced. I was never bored or overwhelmed with details. The dialogue between everyone was realistic and conversational - it was like I was there with them. The events and storylines were well thought out and eventually they all came together in an explosive crescendo. Be prepared to get lost in Claim & Protect and not find your way back out into the real world until you get to the very last word in the story!
The author did a wonderful job writing Trevor’s story and I can’t wait for the next one in the series.
Content is suitable for ages 18 +.

Finally breaking away from her conniving ex-husband, Natalie is doing everything possible to build new life for her and her son, Levi. She won’t let Wyatt, her ex, bring her down. Needing to take chances to make ends meet, she gets a second job as a waitress at Trevor’s Bar, a member of the Brotherhood. Natalie is determined to make the best life she can for Levi. Now if only she can focus on everything but her sexy as hell boss.
Trevor lives on the edge. He is a smart, strong alpha male who knows how to treat a lady. When he notices his new waitress bending the rules and using her cell phone on company time, he is first ticked off but quickly realizes something is wrong. Natalie has caught his eye from day one. He’s attracted to her but knows he must keep it professional. After witnessing her upset, he sends her home to be with family but also decides to follow her home. He needs to make sure she is safe. He can’t stay away from her and he will NOT tolerate seeing his – I mean – this woman being beaten down.
Wyatt, Natalie’s ex, knows how to play the custody game and money sure helps. Natalie must learn to deal with his scheming ways and realize who she is…a great mom. Wyatt will not give up easily. He will do anything and everything to bring Natalie down.
Let me first say that I am a BIG fan of the Haven Brotherhood books. Read the first two books: Rough & Tumble (My review HERE. Jace’s story – MY FAV!) and Wild & Sweet (My review HERE. Zeke’s story). These books are so thrilling and captivating with great developed characters. Be ready for HOT chemistry and SEXY alpha males!
I really enjoyed this book. Like the others, it has a great storyline. I really enjoyed Natalie’s character the most. She is realistic and down to earth. I can really see/feel the love she has for Levi, her son. In this story, Natalie’s world is complicated. She is learning to navigate the single parent life, working hard to make ends meet, and raising her son to be a gentleman. None which are easy to accomplish. I enjoyed seeing her struggles, successes and growth through this story.

Confession, I never heard of this author until I happened upon one of her covers that caught my eye. And now I'm addicted. I somehow missed book 2 in this series. Apparently my stalking skills are not up to par. So I can say with assurance that you can read these books as standalones, but you would be missing out. I'm very intrigued about the 2nd book and want to go back and read it at some point in the future, even though I know the characters involved, I want to spend some quality time with them. And, after making it to the end of Claim and Protect, I now know who the next book in the Men of Haven series will feature and I am beside myself with excitement. This particular 'brother' has some particular qualities that push all my buttons, and I can't wait to see how skilled he is in other areas too (wink-wink).
Trevor is a multi-talented dude with multiple businesses to keep him busy. He's living the life, doing what he loves, surrounded by family and friends. He's not looking for more. But when it finds him, he has a hard time convincing himself that he doesn't want it. After two of his brothers found their soul mates, he's seen what it looks like. And even before that, he had some good role models that showed him how it could be. He just never saw himself in that role. He has secrets that make sharing his life with someone a risk he's not willing to take. At least that's what he always believed... until her.
Natalie doesn't trust herself to make good decisions. A big mistake in her past has followed her and won't give her any peace. She's lost so much, and afraid of losing more. She's starting over with almost nothing and determined to make smart choices this time around. She's got a plan for her future and she's doing her best to follow it. But her past keeps getting in the way. She tries to handle it on her own, but it's not just herself she has to worry about. Maybe she needs to reevaluate her situation and see if there's room for a sexy cowboy who wants to keep her safe... among other things. She tried to keep her eyes focused elsewhere, but like magnets they were drawn to him again and again. He should be off limits. But when he's the one making the rules, maybe it wouldn't hurt to touch the merchandise... at least once.
Claim and Protect is an amazing book that will have you unwilling to put it down. I suggest you plan ahead because you will become addicted very quickly and mom and wife duties will fall by the wayside until you turn the last page. It's full of humor, suspense, sweetness and sexy time. It's a full package that will leave you with a smile and an ache for more when you get to the end. I'm sooo ready for more. The line forms here...
This works brilliantly as a standalone - I loved it and hadn’t read any of the earlier books in this series, though I hope to rectify that in the near future!
The Haven Brotherhood are a group of men, brought together during their troubled childhood and brothers not in blood but in support of each other, working together to protect those who need it so no one else needs to go through what they did. They’re an honourable group who know they’ll always have each others’ backs though what they do isn’t always strictly legal but is usually very effective!
In this story the brother is Trevor Raines. His mother was killed by her abusive husband, Trevor’s father. When he spots one of the waitresses in the bar he owns breaking the rule about using her mobile phone he is determined to discover why she is risking losing her job. When he discovers the reason, it changes things for both of them and is the start of an enthralling story where the Brotherhood again work to protect those struggling to protect themselves. It is a story of overcoming the past to move on with love and hope to look forward to the future and a great romance, too. I thoroughly enjoyed escaping into this well written story, with well portrayed characters and plenty of twists and turns to keep the reader turning pages. I will definitely look out for more in this series and other books by this talented author and have no hesitation in highly recommending this one.
I requested and was given a copy of this book via NetGalley and this is my honest opinion after choosing to read it.
What’s it About? Natalie Jordan just wants to start her life again even if it means having to work twice as hard for her, her mother, and her son to survive. What she doesn’t need is her boss Trevor Raines getting involved in her plans but when her ex starts bullying her, she has no choice but to rely on him for help. Trevor keeps a lot of secrets, including the fact that he spends some of his time walking a fine line between legal and illegal but he’s willing to do anything to make sure Natalie is safe.
Overall reaction to the story? So I liked this book but I didn’t love it. Trevor wasn’t a bad hero, but I had some issues with the heroine and her kid. Yes, her kid. I’m not a big fan of kids in romances and the blurb didn’t exactly let on that the heroine was a mom. I’m not saying I won’t read a book with kids in it but I’m sorry, Levi got on my nerves sometimes. I don’t think I’ve ever read a book that had kids in it where they annoyed me like this. I did enjoy the story as a whole though, and the conflict with Natalie’s ex definitely made it that much more interesting and gave a perfect excuse for Trevor and Natalie to constantly be together. Claim & Protect is the third book in a series but can be read as a standalone with no problems.
Describe the hero in five words: Possessive. Determined. Stubborn. Loyal. Smart.
Did you like him? Most of the time.
Why? Trevor is a possessive man and that’s not really an admirable or sexy trait if you think about it but while he had his moments of cave man mentality, he wasn’t a crazy overwhelming, stalker type possessive guy. He was a born leader with a natural inclination to protect someone he saw as “one of his.” I liked that he was the kind of guy who would put himself in harm’s way not just because some chick is hot but because he saw someone being bullied and he flat out did not like bullies. Now that is an admirable trait and darn sexy one too. He isn’t some kind of modern day goody two shoes that wants to save the world; he just wanted to make sure that the people he came across were safe. I loved that Trevor didn’t have any boundaries when it came to helping people, he did what he thought was necessary to help especially when he felt the system wasn’t doing a darn thing. He wasn’t a perfect guy, but he was a charmer in a rough sort of way. His gentleness with kids and animals definitely balanced out the hard core bad boy he was otherwise known as and I loved that he was a good guy with bad guy potential.
Describe the heroine in five words: Stubborn. Intelligent. Survivor. Dedicated. Loving.
Did you like her? Sometimes.
Why? Natalie is a woman that has survived being in an abusive relationship and is trying to thrive on her own. I admired that about her because she mirrored so many real life stories except in many of them, there is not Trevor to step in and give them the help they need. I loved her determination to succeed no matter how hard she had to keep working and how much she loved her son. What I had a problem with is that her traits should have made her into a very interesting character and yet she wasn’t. She was kind of bland in a way, and not as spirited as you would think a woman with those traits would be. The first half of the book I thought Natalie was headed in the direction of a feisty woman who would give Trevor a run for his money but she didn’t. She was just… There. I felt in the last half of the book that she became a character that needed to be told what to do instead of thinking on her own. She also made a few stupid choices that involved her son Levi that could have cost her everything. At one point it didn’t make sense to me why Natalie would continue to do or say certain things in front of Levi when she knew he was at that age where he couldn’t keep a secret to save his life. Then she acts totally shocked when it backfires on her. Really? I saw that one coming a mile away lady.
Let’s talk about the romance: There was no lack of heat between Trevor and Natalie but I did feel towards the end that it was a bit unbalanced with Trevor doing most of the wanting. The romance rolled along at a somewhat sedate pace which was understandable given that Natalie’s ex was a big problem and also there was a young kid to consider.
How about that supporting cast? Okay so here’s another problem I had with Claim & Protect: Natalie’s son Levi. I know that the author meant for him to be charming in a realistically cute kid way but he didn’t come off that way. He was annoying to say the least, and didn’t really serve a purpose in the way he should have. Yeah I mentioned I’m not a fan of kids in romance but that’s not to say I’ve never enjoyed romances with kids in them because I have, a lot of them in fact but that was because those kids were so well written and didn’t take over a big part of the book like Levi did. I don’t know maybe other people won’t find him as annoying as I did.
Now not all the supporting cast was bad, I found I really enjoyed Trevor’s friends and the camaraderie between them. There’s a loyalty and love that was born out of trust and pain and that definitely comes across. I definitely want to check out the previous books and will keep an eye open for the next book in the series.
Click It or Skip It? Click It. Claim & Protect has a good story line and some great moments. The heroine wasn’t very remarkable and I didn’t care for her kid but maybe others will like what I didn’t. The series seems to be a solid one though so I’ll have to look into it.
***5 ‘Not All Knights Wear Armour, Some Wear Cowboy Boots’ Stars***
I swear I’m a pile of gooey goodness right now. This book had so much heart and panty melting going on that even if I went skinny dipping in arctic temp waters I’d still be melting. Then when you add in the rest of the Haven men, the women who keep them in check, an adorable seven year and a crazy asshat, you find that you have a book that gives you all the feels and more.
Trevor..mmm. This man is everything. There really is no other way to say it. He’s all kinds of protective smexy alpha male with a silver tongue that he knows how to use in more ways than one and a sense of honor a country mile wide. He has his demons, and even he’ll admit to crossing over into gray areas every so often, but sometimes what’s right isn’t always black and white.
Natalie. Talk about a strong woman. She may not have made the best choice at one time in her life, but she’s learned from it. Her determination to make her future better and brighter not only for herself, but her son. The woman has moxie and it shows as she takes on everything life throws at her.
Trevor and Natalie’s journey to their HEA was so much fun. I swear my cheeks are hurting from all the dopey smiling I was doing because of these two. They both tried to keep from crossing lines, but failed miserably every time and how could they not? The chemistry between them was blazing hot in every way possible. They just fit. And I can’t leave Levi, Natalie’s son, out of this equation because he played a huge part in these two falling down the rabbit hole and it seriously brought out all the feels. The crazy asshat does come in and makes things more complicated, but in the end I love how that was all dealt with.
From the first page I was hooked and loved every second of it! Not only did I love Trevor, Natalie and Levi’s journey, but I loved hanging out with the Men, and women, of Haven as well a few new friends we got to meet. I’m a sucker for the whole band of brothers/family vibes thing and when done right it makes my reading experience exponentially better and Ms. Morgan definitely does it right! I love the mom’s, Frank was amazing and I love seeing how happy Viv and Gabe are with Jace and Zeke. I’m still holding on to my claim on Axel and Knox but I’m not gonna lie and say that Beckett and Danny are right up there with them, along with Ivan. Now to wait for my BBF Knox’s book with as much patience as I can possibly muster up!

BOOK BLURB
Live hard, f*ck harder and follow only their own rules. Those are the cornerstones the six men of the Haven Brotherhood live and bleed by, refusing to conform to society's expectations, taking what they want and always watching each other's backs.
Trevor Raines lives on the edge of legal. A good guy doing bad things to save lives, the only rules he follows are the Brotherhood's, and there's nothing in the world that will change that. Until Natalie Jordan walks into his life…
Natalie's only interest is in making a fresh start. She's a woman with a plan, and the plan doesn't include a man with secrets, no matter how kind—or intoxicating—he is. But this cowboy is determined to break down her walls, keep her safe and make her his.
Trevor had no interest in settling down, but there's something entirely too appealing about the woman he can't stay away from. There's only one thing to do—change his plans…and hers. When Natalie's ex resurfaces to threaten her new life, Trevor will move heaven and earth to make sure the bastard can't hurt her again. Except saving Natalie means outing his own secrets—and it could mean losing her forever…
My Thoughts
Have to say so glad for a couple of reasons to have been approved via NetGalley and had the chance to enjoy the three books in Haven Brotherhood series released so far.
First because the characters are portrayed as strong people who have made something of themselves despite the odds stacked against each one of them in their early years.
Second because as a die hard romance reader it is always a genuine pleasure to read a story where the hero or heroine is dead set against commitment, at least that is so until that certain someone walks into their life and changes everything they thought they wanted up to that point.
Trevor Raines, like Jace Kennedy and Zeke Dugan before him, had no intention of settling down until Natalie Jordan broke down the barriers one by one he had erected keeping his distance from forming any kind of attachment to a woman.
What made this particular book in the series hit hardest for me was the fact Trevor parents had shown him by their example just how a bad relationship could scar a child for life. When he finds himself falling deeper for not only Natalie but her seven-year-old son Levi his protective instincts take over, causing him to take action which will ensure her ex-husband is permanently removed from Natalie and Levi’s lives.
Unfortunately this same action almost ensures that any further relationship between him and her is stopped in it’s tracks.
The very poignant romance that takes place will perhaps be a little slow to develop for some. For me it was paced perfectly allowing time for Natalie and Trevor to come to grips with the fact what started out as a way to shield this woman and her child turned into something lasting and special.
Book 1&2 were excellent reads, book 3 took that excellence and added a little boy named Levi into the mix and won hands down.
Natalie and Trevor together are great but when you add her son Levi to the pair the family dynamic created is truly touching to watch unfold.

Rhenna Morgan is killing me.
KILLING. ME!!!
Starting with Rough & Tumble, I fell in love with Jace. I figured he would be my favorite of the series, second only to Axel (who has a sexy smutty Scot thing going on). But then there was Zeke in Wild & Sweet, who was AWESOME. And now... NOW... Rhenna gives us freaking Trevor, who blows both of the previous heroes out of the water. Seriously - each hero has been better than the last! By the time we get around to Axel, my head is just going to explode. Or my ovaries. Or something. And let it be known RIGHT NOW, that I am claiming Axel and his proclivities for all things kink. He. Is. Mine. Period. Exclamation Point!
If you haven't read Rough & Tumble or Wild & Sweet, then you are totally missing out. But if you want to start with Claim & Protect and read out of order, you should be fine. Basically what you need to know is that the Haven Brotherhood is a group of unconventional alpha males that have become family. These men are totally hot, totally possessive alpha male, and totally successful. From club owners to pilots to doctors... you are sure to find a hero to suit your tastes. (Just stay away from Axel!)
Trevor Raines is our laid back cowboy, who is also a pilot and bar owner. He has a big ranch, a big airplane collection, and an even bigger heart. Trevor also has some adequacy issues, making him think that he is not relationship material. When Trevor discovers that his cute new waitress is having family issues, he inserts himself into her life to make sure that she and her son are safe. He was such a freaking good guy. Seriously, you couldn't not like Trevor. He was funny and sexy and caring and just oh-so lovable. I loved that his protective instincts kicked into overdrive, and that those feelings encompassed everyone in our heroine's life. His efforts to bring some light into their life just gave me the warm fuzzies. Likewise, Trevor's thoughts on family (whether related by blood or not) were heartwarming.
Natalie Jordan is a bit of a tortured heroine. She has done her best to escape her narcissistic and abusive ex-husband, but he just won't let go. I felt sorry for Natalie's situation, but I admired her determination to get away and protect her son. I was happy that she allowed Trevor into their life so easily, because I know her first inclination was probably to put her hand up and keep all men out of their life. Luckily both Natalie and her meddling mama were able to see that Trevor was a good guy and could be trusted to keep everyone safe and make them happy. And Natalie's son! I just loved him. I am not a kid person at all... but Levi was just so cute that you couldn't help but love him.
The relationship between Trevor and Natalie was both sweet and sexy. Trevor did such a good job at helping Natalie get her self-confidence back and, in turn, Natalie made Trevor see that he was worthy of a relationship. While they had some good chemistry and were no slouches in the sheets, most of their time together had me feeling sweet and sappy. Despite the tortured past of both our hero and heroine, this story felt like a feel-good romance from start to finish.
The Haven Brotherhood and its growing family is such a great group. Each member of the brotherhood is dynamic and engaging, but they come together for a common purpose, and the most important thing to each one is the family they have created. I wish I could find a group such as this to adopt me! I encourage all romance fans to pick up the Haven Brotherhood series - you won't regret it.
I voluntarily reviewed an advanced copy of this book that I received from the publisher, Carina Press.
