Megan Crane has a way with words that has us sensing the menace rolling off of the skin of each and every one of the guys in this series, yet with the touch of the right woman, we watch them transform into a gentle soul right before our eyes! Yes, they are still mean and tough and raunchy as all get out ... but there is still a deep connection and softness in how much they love their women. I am loving this series ... and Chaser and Lara just increased my adoration! :) Awesome characters, a heated atmosphere both with steamy sex and danger, and a plot that keeps me coming back for more. With the ending on this one, stuff is about to hit the fan, so I have my fingers crossed for the next book soon!
Ryan "Chaser" Frey doesn't have time for petty nonsense, so when his teenage daughters teacher leaves him a massive number of messages in the one day he was unreachable with club business, it really rubs him the wrong way. What does this hoity toity priss know about raising a kid in his lifestyle?
Lara Ashburn grew up knee deep in the life, and she hates motorcycle clubs with a passion! She blames it for the childhood she had and for ruining her brother's life. She wants desperately to make sure her student isn't losing herself in the ugliness around her.
Ryan comes to the school to tell this teacher to get off his kid and mind her own business, but when she stands up and starts mouthing off to him, he can't help but become amused ... does she know who she's talking to? ... and does she realize her mouth is making him see her in a whole new light? Maybe he should show her ... after all, when he puts his hands on her, she makes it real obvious that she hates it ... and loves it even more!
Lara had enough of the wild biker days. She is pushing on with her new life in Lagrange. She didn’t expect her old desires to resurface once she meets one of her student’s fathers. Chaser is not pleased to have to go meet with Lara but after their one on one session, he is sure she is not the poised teacher she pretends to be.
This might be the best in the series so far. There is something about Lara and Chaser that just got to me. I liked that there is this crazy, unexplainable attraction to them that neither of them wants. They are both no-nonsense kind of people and their initial meeting with them is intense.
Lara is this prissy, wannabe proper woman who comes from a badass biker family. She wants to escape her past so bad but she is so drawn to Chaser and he represents her past in flashing neon letters. What I really liked about her is that once she gave into the relationship, she didn’t hold back. She lets go and stands by Chaser in a tough situation and trust him completely.
There are two reasons why I couldn’t bring myself to give this review 5 stars. One, the insta-love throws me in this story. The author is so amazingly descriptive in her writing. I feel as though I am in the hot swamp with the characters but she doesn’t devote as much time to the romance. The characters have literally known each other for a week and they are riding off into the sunset. They don’t have any real time to know each other. It makes it so hard to buy into the romance because I don’t know if they even know each other outside of the bedroom. The chemistry is so explosive that you now it makes for a great start.
The second reason is that I need to know what the President of the Club is doing. We finally get Digger back at the club (you have to read the other books to know what I mean) and there is still some potential threat and deceptive behavior but nothing revealed or resolved. It is driving me crazy. I need more of the biker elements in this story. There is a bit of biker drama towards the end but it is resolved quickly. I also wondered what was going to happen with Lara’s family.

Lara may appear innocent since she is a high school history teacher, but she is anything but. Having grown up around bikers she loathes them and everything they stand for. That is until she meets Chaser the enforcer of the motorcycle club in the town Lara recently moved to, not to mention the father of one of her high school students. The two develop rather quickly into a relationship, but it is definitely a hot one. This was a good read and filled with lots of sex and drama, but I always love a happy ending. I look forward to reading more by this author.
Lara was ready to start a new life. Leaving her life with her biker family behind she sought to make a change. A change that would save countless of other girls getting locked into a cycle of their lives servicing their club and not fulfilling their dreams or living up to their potential. She sees a girl who is making decisions that can destroy her life and makes a call. Seven calls in fact to her father. Her father is an enforcer for the local motorcycle club and is captivated by his daughter's sultry teacher. Quick wit and a sharp tongue lead them down a path both couldn't have imagined where it would take them.

Devil's Own was a good read.
It had the perfect amount of drama and it wasn't overly done. There was just enough to keep you interested in both main characters.
Overall a good afternoon read.

Always a pleasure to read Megan Crane's books. This one had something missing for me in the chemistry, but was still very well written and enjoyed it. I just didn't feel quite as connected for whatever reason as in her previous stories in this series and in her other dystopian stories which I love
Interesting and suspenseful
Lara Ashburn is the high school history teacher whose concern for her student’s behavior may be a plea for help. Kaylee coming to school drunk has Lara calling her father for a much needed parent/teacher meeting, so she’s not surprised the big, mean-looking biker with the Devil’s Keepers leather cut is the man in question. One look at Chaser is all it takes for Lara to melt as his intimidating demeanor is kryptonite to her inner bad biker chick. But she left that past behind, knowing all too well, the criminal element and ruthless lifestyle of the motorcycle club her uncle leads in California. She’s vowed to stay away from terrible men that are tough and dangerous, but she can’t seem to resist Chaser, the embodiment of savage thrill and sexual excitement.
Ryan “Chaser” Frey is the enforcer for the Devil’s Keepers MC, and he’s not about to let some prim teacher criticize his parenting skills, but soon the heated banter between them becomes electrifying and it leads them having sex on Lara’s desk. Lara is blissed out, but mortified. Chaser learns she’s got a tramp stamp tattoo with Brothers of Goliath MC on her back. He didn’t plan on finding her so intriguing “with all her attitude and bravado, the prim teacher on the outside and dirty little biker chick on the inside is basically his catnip.” Chaser doesn’t do relationships, but Lara may the perfect woman to handle his type of unpredictable and dangerous lifestyle.
Devil’s Own is the third book in the Devil’s Keepers series and the continuing saga of the DKMC predicament. There are series of events that undermine the brotherhood and they mean to get to the bottom of it. Suspicion of a possible betrayal within the club, the Black Dogs trying to muscle in on their territory, and news of Kaylee’s addict mom in town all lend to a suspenseful ride. My only complaint is that I wished Chaser and Lara had a deeper connection rather than just falling into bed. I felt their story could have benefited from an epilogue, a little peak into how the deal as a family. Still, we might see these characters in the next book. Though the book is a standalone, it may be best to read the previous books in the series, Devil’s Honor and Devil’s Mark, to get full appreciation of the DKMC problem.
I received a copy from Random House Publishing - Loveswept via NetGalley. I voluntarily reviewed an ARC of this book.
This is a steamy very fast paced read, takes place over a short period of time and Lara and Chaser seemed to fall head over heels instantly. The story is entertaining and held my interest throughout and the sex is off the charts hot. I liked it!
Ooh Chaser. What a bad *ss. He's the enforcer of the Devil's Keepers MC. He goes by only his rules. So when his 16 year old's teacher called him many times to discuss a situation he was not happy, especially when he got there and she had no fear in what she saw in him. This angered him and excited him at once. Their meeting lead to, well read the book to find out. But these two are smoking when together. The story flowed easily and was very interesting. I need more DKMC drama
I am a big fan of MC stories and I felt that Megan Crane hit the mark with "Devil's Own: The Devil's Keepers" with a great storyline and I absolutely loved Lara and Chaser together and the hot chemistry they had together from the very first meeting!
I voluntarily reviewed an advanced reader copy of this book.
Lara needed a break but was Chaser a good break? Another good read by Megan Crane, a great addition to the series. Lara wanted a fresh start and her fresh start got very exciting in the form of biker. Great story telling in this book. Couldn't put it down once I started.
This series is a definite must read for anyone who loves a biker book. I received a complimentary copy of this book from Net galley and Love Swept.
Devil's Own is a short and enjoyable read. It is the third book in the series and can be read as a stand alone, but I would still recommend reading the books of the series in order as there is a running backstory about politics of the club.
I found the heroine, Lara, believable and likable. She has a considerable amount of baggage, but I didn't find her annoying or weak. She is not a victim. Chaser, our hero, I didn't love but he was ok. I found him a little bit creepy, honestly, but not enough that it ruined my enjoyment of the book or made the romance unbelievable. His questionable morals were not ideal but he did make a genuine effort to raise his daughter the best he could.
I would recommend this book to anyone who enjoys MC romances.
I'm hit or miss with MC books but I'm a fan of Megan Crane and her characters plus I enjoyed the earlier books in this series. Although I did enjoy this one there were some issues that I think if addressed better would have made this a 4 or 5 star read.
My biggest issue was with Lara. She grew up in a biker club and had some very legitimate issues with the biker lifestyle. She had some bad experiences with the club she was born into and abandoned by. She felt that the Club/brothers always came first above any women or family and that women can only be old ladies or club whores and very few end up as old ladies. She spends a lot of the book referring to her lust/need for Chaser as an addiction and yet she never really tries to fight the attraction. In fact she ends up having sex with Chaser within 15 minutes of a parent/teacher conference. Even if we assume that she just got carried away it basically continues to happen again and yet she never really comes to a resolution with her issues. In fact, she really doesn't act like an Old Lady but more like a club whore (although she isn't with anyone other than Chaser) they really don't have a relationship outside of lots of hot sex. I really loved the opening scenes where she didn't back down from Chaser and the verbal sparring was excellent. So I REALLY wish she would have held out longer and developed more of a relationship with Chaser before it became all about sex.
While I liked Chaser I can't help but think that the whole question of can you be an outlaw biker and still a good father wasn't answered in a really positive way. It was obvious that Chaser loved his daughter and would protect her with all he had but he certainly wasn't paying enough attention to her. The fact that he left her with his psycho sister for weeks at a time and then spent more time having sex with Lara when he knew his daughter was having issues didn't highlight great parenting skills.
This book had a lot of potential and if there was more relationship building to go along with the sex I would have liked it a lot more. Instead, we got a ton of sex and instant love which just wasn't believable. I'm still not sure what it was about Lara that Chaser fell so hard for other than the first scene where she really stood up to him for his daughter's well being. I would have loved if Chaser and Lara worked together to help his daughter and figure out what was going on to enhance all the sex.
I was also curious as to the overall plot with what Digger was up to within the club and towards the very end we did get some movement/answers on that issue but it didn't seem to be a very complex plot point. I hope there is more to it in the next book. So while there were some disappointing aspects of this book I still enjoyed it and if you want some hot sex scenes Megan Crane always delivers.
A copy of this book was provided to me by NetGalley and the publisher with no requirements for a review. I voluntarily read this book and my comments here are my honest opinion.
Devil’s Own is the third book in The Devil’s Keepers series by Megan Crane. The Devil’s Keepers are a motorcycle club that rules the town of Lagrange in the outback country of Louisiana. Ms. Crane is an outstanding writer painting vivid pictures of the events happening on the page. She knows how to bring out the heat as well as the down and dirty sex in her outstanding writing. This is Ryan “Chaser” Frey and Lara Ashburn’s story. Chaser is an enforcer who knows something is going on with Devil Keeper’s leader, just not what or when it will hit. Lara grew up a California motorcycle club run by her cruel uncle and couldn’t wait to escape that life. These two meet in Lara’s classroom after calling Chaser, concerned about his daughter. The fact that Lara grew up in the culture of a motorcycle club makes her perfect for this father-daughter pair.
This was an intense, entertaining story with well written and complex characters. Ms Crane takes the reader on a motorcycle ride deep into the bayou country where one could feel the heat and humidity that surrounded the swamps as they read this hot and sexy story. Her characters are real, do not apologize for their behavior and are led by their animal instincts. I enjoyed reading this book and definitely recommend this book to other readers, especially those looking for a hot and dirty read in the motorcycle genre.
I voluntarily reviewed a complimentary copy of this book.

Synopsis:
From the bestselling author of Devil’s Honor and Devil’s Mark, this seductive novel of the Louisiana bayou kicks into high gear as a dangerously sexy biker takes a no-nonsense teacher on the ultimate thrill ride.
Lara Ashburn hates bikers. She watched a motorcycle club destroy her hometown, bringing her brother down with it. That’s a life she put far in her rearview. So the last person she wants to see walking into her classroom is the top enforcer of the Devil’s Keepers. Big, mean, and gorgeous, all tattoos and leather, Chaser is everything Lara should avoid. Yet the insane chemistry sparking between them tempts her to break all the rules.
Ryan “Chaser” Frey has his hands full with a teen daughter in need of tough love, and he doesn’t have time for prissy teachers who want to tell him how to raise his kid. But Chaser never could resist a chick who gives as good as she gets. Lara is sexy as hell, and she’s not afraid of him. Plus, her links to a California club could provide the Devils with leverage against their enemies. But that would mean mixing business with pleasure—and risking the one woman Chaser can’t afford to lose.
My Thoughts:
This is the first time I have read this author and although I liked the story, I didn’t love it and I will explain why. I just want to say that we all read the same book differently and we all have our own interpretation. This is the third book in this series and although I got through the book just fine, there are inner workings of the club that I may have missed out on not reading the two previous books.
I love a good MC novel, but this one just didn’t do it for me. There was just too much inner dialog in both POV and it just seemed too wordy, for a lack of a better word. There was a lot of sex and don’t get me wrong, I love my sexy times as much as the next person, but this just seemed a little OTT since they met at a parent teacher conference to discuss his 16-year-old daughter and after some banter, they are having sex against the chalk board. The next item is there are characters that are introduced, i.e. the sheriff that Lara has a date with just after she meets Chaser and then he’s just out of the picture. No scene to have Lara explain she can’t see him anymore. Also, a stripper laying claim to the sheriff and then not mentioned again. Just some unconnected islands for me.
By all means, if you have been reading the series or what to give it a try, this is just my opinion and like I mentioned earlier, we all read the same book differently and have our own interpretation.

It was a good addition to the series. The chemistry between the H/h is scorching hot. The story reveals the heart of the scary enforcer, Chaser. Behind his tough facade as the club's enforcer, he is a fiercely loving father. Lara is his daughter's teacher......who wants to help the children of bikers, since she also had a troublesome childhood as part of a club. I found the initial scene in the classroom completely unbelievable.....especially since Lara in teacher mode was completely defiant and rude. And yet she kisses him first! Plus she wants to come off as this professional person but her behavior in the parent-teacher meeting is ludicrous. She continues to bait Chaser, yet her internal dialogue is that she should know better. So I guess I had a bit of a problem with the heroine. This author can be a bit wordy especially when the character talk "in their head", I enjoyed visiting with the other members, esp Uptown. I can't wait for t'Roscoe's story. . And I hope the ongoing story arc reg the club is resolved sooner than later.
Whew!! Did someone say it’s hot in here?! That’s what you get with a Megan Crane MC book. This time we have the Devil’s Enforcer, Chaser doing his best to stay alpha for his daughter’s little prissy school teacher. Oh, my how looks can be deceiving! Lara made upteen calls to Chaser telling him that she wanted a parent/teacher meeting in regards to Kaylee’s behavior in school which as of late included coming to school drunk. Chaser was more than ready to take on the pain in the *ss teacher who was lighting his phone up. Upon walking into that classroom I have to hand it to Chaser because he saw past the pencil skirt and blouse of who Lara actually was. Lara knew way too many things as to the workings of a MC and she wasn’t afraid to take on this hot as he*l, bada*s biker.
So exactly who was this seemingly straight talking teacher of Kaylee’s and what would even make her think to take on an Enforcer for the Devil’s? As for Chaser the only relationship he was interested in long term was raising his daughter to be a person who could handle herself and make her own decisions once she was out in the real world. To think about any kind of relationship with a woman was ludicrous for Chaser especially when he had his pick of any of the MC’s groupies. In true Megan Crane fashion this book gives you great characters to believe in and will leave you feeling like you need a cold shower. I have to say I’m a fan of this series and can’t wait for the next book to come out.
I received this ARC from NetGalley for a freely given and honest review.
I have to admit I read this book completely because of the cover. Seriously, if he belongs to the devil then it's just become more difficult to behave. There are those who will expect deep relationships and more from Devil's Own. It's simply not long enough to delve too deeply into characters and their histories. It's meant as entertainment not life changing literature. When taken as it was intended it's an enjoyable read. It's fast and easy as well as entertaining. It's one of those books to read late at night like a naughty secret. I enjoyed Devil's Own And I will be keeping an eye out for more from this author.
Best biker book I've read in a very long time! Holy hotness, this book is scorching! The author clearly has done a lot of research about MCs (maybe a bit of personal experience?) and it shows in this wonderful love story. Lara and Chaser feel authentic, and the chemistry between them just sizzles. They work through their conflicts with a mixture of blind determination and hopeless devotion. And the end of the book was just perfect - the best "last line" I've ever read in a book! It's the biker equivalent of "and they lived happily ever after." Still gives me shivers just thinking about it!
This book is freaking good when compared to the rest of the series! Kyle "Chaser" Frey has a feeling something is wrong in his world and he cannot put his finger on it. Things are going wrong in his club and his teenage daughter is being her normal pain in the a$$ as usual. To make things worse his phone is being blown up by messages by her teacher and he needs to put a stop to that. Lara Ashburn is not what he was expecting when Chaser shows up at school. Lara hates bikers and it is rooted deep in her bones. So why has she landed in a biker town? Chaser and Lara smoke and burn like they were made for each other. They bring out the best in each other when they didn't know it was needed...and yet challenge when needed.
I highly recommend this one! Definitely see there is more to this continuing story of the DKMC and look forward to seeing where it goes.
