Devils own is for me the best from the series. I loved both Lara and Chaser. Like they were amazing together with such explosive chemistry. I liked Lara here attitude, her having a back bone and not showing any fear. And all that Chaser saw in her and that is way he couldn’t stand away from her. He was loyal to his club and although hard heart he used Lara for the cause. But that seemed to connect them even more. It was great to see that she has easily made a relationship with his daughter. It was also good to see how she accepted her dark side and finally see the reason why did she choose this town to live for. In the end we see her stubbornness and determination. Great book. Loved it!
I volunteered to review an ARC of this book for Netgelly
An ARC of this ebook was graciously provided by netgalley and Random House Publishing Group - Loveswept in exchange for an honest review.
Lara Ashburn is a 28 year old high school history teacher new to Lagrange, LA. Lara has broken away from her past, a past which has left her jaded and resentful with a huge hard-on against bikers, and MC clubs in general. So, of all parents who would walk into her classroom because their 16 year old daughter had been caught intoxicated in her classroom is the enforcer of the local MC club, Devil's Keepers, Ryan 'Chaser' Frey.
Chaser is the enforcer of Devil's Keepers. He's your worst nightmare and the absolute last person you want to see. let alone tick off, and after getting not 1, not 2 but 7 phone calls from his daughter's teacher he's not too happy to stroll up to the high school and be disrespected by some little bitty teacher who doesn't know her place. And to add in he actually LIKES she's mouthy and doesn't cower? That's something he's not prepared to handle.
Normally, I am not a big fan of a Hero who speaks disrespectfully towards the heroine, and that she likes it, too? No, not really it for me. But there was something different about this book and about Lara and Chaser's story where I could get past his gruffness and see underneath it all. Chaser is an ultimate alpha male and he makes sure everyone knows it. Lara hasn't been able to depend on anyone in her life and has depended on her own bravado and he mouth to get her through. Chaser is a whole new biker and challenges the way she's always look at and though about bikers.
This was a great read. A first Megan Crane book for me, but it is only the first of many. I can't wait to get my hand on the rest of this series.
Another winner for Megan Crane. I enjoyed the story. good writing.
Absolutely derserves all 5 twinkly stars. Lara is strong, not afraid to speak her mind (though she might be shaking on the inside). Chaser is a mighty mean softie...and I do mean MEAN...to others. With Lara he is a softie, on the inside at least. His inner dialogue shows his softer side.
Highly sexy, romantic, strong storyline...to the point that I got annoyed when I had to put my iPad down to do other things, like shower!!
Devil’s Own is the third in Megan Crane’s Devil’s Keepers series that features a “new” standalone couple but continues the overarching story that was developed through the first two novels.Ryan “Chaser” Frey has his hands full as a single father to a sixteen-year-old girl when he meets high school history teacher and hater-of-bikers Lara Ashburn.
The trope of big, bad biker falling for his child’s teacher is pretty popular in the MC romance sub-genre, and to be perfectly honest I was a little sceptical when I first read the synopsis. What could be done that hasn’t been done a million times over already? And, yeah, this wasn’t a groundbreaking plot in that way. But it was a very fast-paced read and Chaser and Lara had unbelievable chemistry together. I loved how straight-forward Lara was - she had some great quips and held nothing back with Chaser, but still combined it with the underlying understanding of the mechanics of an MC.
However, this novel felt short. I was expecting a bit more plot surrounding Lara’s interactions with the Sheriff, but that turned out to be a bit of a red herring. Then, I found there was very little build-up to the situation surrounding the rival club member, and I felt like I missed a few paragraphs or something that would provide the set-up or hammer home how serious/dangerous the issue was.
I was really excited for this novel — I feel that Crane has re-invigorated the motorcycle club sub-genre for me with the previous instalments in this series. And while I did love the hero and heroine - their personalities, their chemistry, and their interactions with other characters — I felt that the story was a little bit light on plot. With that being said, I think this story is definitely worth reading, and I continue to be excited for this series to continue with other MC members.
I have been a fan of Megan Crane since I read the first book in the series, and I hope that there will be many more to come. I was lucky enough that I got a copy of this book through NetGalley in exchange for a review, which I am happy to provide. I liked the main characters and the storyline, the chemistry between them was very hot and of course plenty of smoldering sex scenes, not a lot of action this time around, but as the story progresses I am sure dark times are heading for the Club. At times I wished that there was not quite so much inner dialog to go around, but I loved the story regardless and read way passed my bedtime on numerous occasions. You don't really need to read any of the other books in order to enjoy this book, but I would still recommend that you do because of all the turmoil that is happening in the club. Can't wait to see what will happen next.
I. Loved. This. Book. It had me from the beginning. Chaser and Lara are PERFECT together. The chemistry was off the charts from the first moment they met. I definitely want more from this author!
Devil's Own is the third book in Megan Crane's The Devil's Keepers, and I have loved this entire series about the sexy, outlaw motorcycle club, Devil’s Keepers, in hot, muggy LaGrange, Louisiana. All three books feature hot alpha-men who meet their match—and the loves of their lives—and I can’t get enough of these dirty-talking bikers. (Be warned that your eReader might start steaming when you read these books.)
Ryan "Chaser" Frey is the enforcer for the Devil's Keepers, which means he is the most dangerous and intimidating man among very dangerous and intimidating men. Everyone is scared of him, and they should be, because his job requires him to be frightening. But not quite everyone in LaGrange is afraid of Chaser…
His sixteen-year old daughter’s prim and pint-sized teacher, Lara Ashburn, stands up to him when no one else ever does. She calls him repeatedly to demand a meeting to discuss his daughter's recent concerning behavior, and he finally shows up at school angry and defensive, but she is not afraid and doesn’t give an inch. They go toe to toe, and the sparks that fly could light up entire the state of Louisiana.
Chaser is, frankly, dumbfounded by Lara, and he hates the feeling but he is also thrilled by it. He’s intrigued by her, although he’s never been into “good girls” or wanted anything more than a one night stand. He cannot deny that she revs him up like no one else ever has, and he is like a moth to a flame. Their chemistry is electric, and I mean out-of-this-world-jump-off-the-pages-and-burn-you electric, and there is no resisting the force that is drawing them together.
While the sex might be amazing, both Chaser and Lara are caught off guard when feelings and emotions start to come into play in their love/hate dynamic, and they are both uncomfortable and unsure where things might lead. Chaser never expected to find a woman like Lara, who could make him think about settling down, and Lara never imagined she might be willing to live the outlaw motorcycle club lifestyle.
Devil's Own is delicious escapism, and I enjoyed every minute spent with Chaser and Lara. They kept me on the edge of my seat waiting to find out where their fiery dynamic would lead them next. I love all three of these scorching-hot, enthralling, dark and gritty romances that deliver satisfying and sweet happy-ever-afters.

Ryan or "Chaser" as he is known by his brothers in the Devil's Keepers Motorcycle Club, has enough problems without one of them being his 16 year old daughter's teacher, Lara. Lara has known what it is like to be 16 in the biker world even though she is not advertising that. She is determined to tell Chaser that his daughter is headed for trouble unless he does something now. Unfortunately for her, Chaser is the enforcer of the MC which means he is a big bad mean-tempered SOB who isn't going to listen to any woman telling him anything. However her tenacity and prim look attracts him and Lara's Achilles heel has always been bad boys. I enjoyed this red hot MC romance.
**I received a copy of Devil's Own from Random House and Net Galley in exchange for a voluntary and honest review**
Devil's Own by Megan Crane is the third book in Devil's Keepers MC series by the author. Having read the previous two books I'd highly recommend reading the previous book in order as the plot is a continuation of Devil's Mark. I'd rate the book at 4.7 stars out of 5 stars.
Ryan "Chaser" Frey has returned back to Lagrange, LA after spending most of the summer up with the mother charter. But after seven messages left on his phone from his daughter's teacher, Lara, he needs to go to the school and find out what is wrong. But when he walks into her room he finds that Kaylee has been coming to school drunk. While he knows that kids do this regularly, Chaser vows to find out why. However, Lara is not only attractive but they have sex in the classroom. Even though I'm open minded this one scene was a bit too soon into the story. This is my opinion only not anyone else, but other than that I really liked the book. The DKMC is heading into a showdown with Black Dog MC, a missing president and now Chaser knows that Lara is well aware of the workings of a MC because of her Uncle.
Lara Ashburn loves her job as a teacher but most of all Lagrange is close to where her brother is in prison. What she doesn't expect is how much Chaser loves his daughter and how loyal he is as the enforcer of the Devil's Keeper MC. But with her ties to her uncle's MC there could be problems when the chapters president rolls back in town, there is also something that Kaylee isn't telling her dad plus she knows that even though she wanted away from the drama of a MC there is no way she can fight the attraction and sparks that she and Ryan have together. But when things get very heated can she stand by Ryan and the DKMC when they find out that there is a fight looming on the horizon that could get very ugly. I can't wait for the next book and hope that its Roscoe's story but I know its going to be big because all three books are leading up to the explosive conclusion.
The Devil's Own is the third installment of The Devil's Keepers series. This story is about Chaser, the Club Enforcer. Chaser is a single father of a 16 year old daughter. He has been summoned by his daughter's teacher, Lara, who needs to speak with him immediately. Chaser is an alpha male who does not like to be told what to do, but after numerous messages, is determined to get this teacher off his back.
He meets her and is surprised that she is the opposite image of the mean, old teacher's that he faced in high school when he was a teenager. She is very serious with him and almost uptight. She proceeds to let him know that his daughter is having problems in school and can see her go down the wrong path. Chaser takes offense but is also attracted to Lara, too. She will not back down, but also feels a pull towards him. The two dance around their attraction as she is certain she does not want to be with someone from a motorcycle club and he wants a "biker chick".
Chaser sees her on a date with the local sheriff and feels a twinge of jealousy. He can't stay away from Lara. As the two learn more about one another, he discovers that she has a secret, one that can potentially bring harm to his club and his brothers that he has sworn to protect. But he is starting to fall for Lara, so he is feeling torn with the circumstance. Will he be enough for Lara or does he believe she deserves better?
This installment continues with the plot with their President, Digger, who they are beginning to believe that he is colluding with their rival club.......but why? The club is feeling vulnerable as they recognize there are cracks in the brotherhood. This book had alot of characters that added depth to the plot. I was able to read this in one sitting and remain engaged throughout.
I've made it perfectly known that when I read an MC book, I prefer much more grit then fluff & flowers. This one did alright, but 100% not dark enough for me. Having said that, it was very well written & I did really enjoy the storyline. The main characters were top in my eyes. I thought they were delveloped brilliantly. Regardless of how 'light' I personally feel this one was, my stars are based on not what I think it could've been, but what it is. It's a really good book! 4/5*
I received a free copy of this book and am voluntarily leaving an honest review.
Chaser in an enforcer for the Devil's Keeper MC. There is nothing soft about this man. The only things important to him are his club and his daughter Kaylee. He had a abusive father so he tries to be the best father he can to Kaylee.
Lara is a new school teacher in town. She just wants a normal life. She and her brother were raised by an Uncle after her parents death, the Uncle being the President of a MC across the country. Her younger brother is in prison for a crime committed after he became a member of his Uncle's MC, a crime Lara is sure he is innocent of. She has moved closer so she can see him in prison.
Lara has left several messages for Kaylee's father, Chaser, after an incident at school. It seems she came to class intoxicated. Chaser has been away so he is quite annoyed by these messages from his daughter's teacher. As soon as he returns to town, he goes to see Lara.
This is a day that will change both their lives....
There is an immediate attraction between these two. Chaser comes to this meeting thinking he can intimidate Lara but she has a surprise for him, she has her own mind and a mouth. This just fires their blood up more.
There are a few issues going on in the DKMC. It seems their president has been up to something and also disappearing and it has caused some tension within the club. It doesn't help when Chaser sees a tattoo on Lara from another MC club and then there have been sightings of another MC club in the area, a club they don't get along with. What is going on?
As much as neither want to admit it, Chaser and Lara are quite involved. In her denial, Lara even goes out on a date with the local Sheriff and as much as she should love the fact that he is handsome, smart and a good guy, he just doesn't do it for her. All it does for Chaser is to make him angry and confront her, leading to....need I say?
I have to say, I loved this book! It seems that each Devil's Keeper book only gets better. As Lara's involvement with Chaser continues she starts to realize how much she didn't see when she lived with her Uncle, as cruel as he was to her.
As danger possibly comes close, Lara really learns how ignorant she has been about her and her brothers life with their Uncle's club. Her brother used to tell her she hid her head in the sand and now she finally has some understanding.
Chaser ultimately believes Lara is too good for him and knows he has to push her away. Can she deal with him and the MC plus a 16 year old? What will Lara do when he does push her away? Will Chaser be able to open his heart for her?
Loved it, look forward to more from Megan!
Hot, steamy and all about bad boys! Lara and Chaser are perfect for each other. She doesn't take his crap and he protect what's his.
Devil’s Own by Megan Crane
Chaser - big, bold, brash, and bossy - what’s not to love. Everything according to Lara. He is in the MC of the Devil’s Keepers, the enforcer no less. Lara teaches history at the local high school and needed Mr. “Chaser” Frey to come in for a parent conference. Just what he wants to do - meet a prissy teacher who thinks she knows everything.Lara hates bikers and Chaser is definitely a biker. So how do you explain what happens next? How do you explain what happens after that?
Chaser and Lara are definitely in over their heads. It is hot, hot and hotter still. Devil’s Own, the third book in the The Devil’s Keepers Series by Megan Crane is a must read if you love bad bad boys who are really really hot and Harleys.
Crude, fast-moving, sexy drama that must be be read without any sense of logic or timing: think watching Sons on Anarchy on fast forward. Chaser and Lara waste no time; they are literally banging each other mere minutes after meeting in his daughter's high school history classroom. Seriously, these two may be the most speed-warped MC lovers ever. SPOILER and SUMMARY ALERT: Within days, they exchange ILYs after dealing with his MC politics and dirty dealings, her brother in jail, his junkie baby mama, his rebellious teen daughter, the threat of another MC in his town, the threat of her uncle's MC, sex in public, his skanky sister, and her date with the town sheriff. My head is still spinning.
I chose to ignore misgivings about the super speed that Chaser and Lara got to their HEA but the ending felt rushed and incomplete, making it more of a HFN. What happened to the sheriff and Lanie? What about Uncle Ray's MC? So many loose ends.
The heat that sparks between Lara and Ryan "Chaser" Frey is explosive from the very beginning. I really like that the author does a good job of giving context to how the two main characters got to this point in their lives by letting you see into their past and the events that helped define them. I also have to say that I was refreshed by the fight in Lara, and how she was willing to stand up to Chaser, especially when it mattered.
The only problem I had with this book is the same problem I had with the last book in the series, and it is that the overall plot of what is going on within the motorcycle club just moves forward incrementally. The ending leaves you wanting to know how the conflict will come to a head, but you are left waiting for the next book, with the hope you will eventually find out what will happen with the club.
I received a free advanced copy in exchange for an honest review.
I like the premise of the book but it failed to deliver for me.. I struggled to finish as I wasn't fond of anyone in the book.
There was a lot going on but it seemed like the book loss focus on a regular basis. There were quite a few time that a storyline was brought up then forgotten about.
The one bright side of this book was the sex scenes. They were hot and kinky but they couldn't carry the book
Oh cheese and sprinkles this book started out hot and it kept up the drama and heat throughout! It was a great way for the characters to meet and then end up having sex in the classroom on her desk... DAMN!!! What a way to set up the rest of the book, and it was such a good read I could not put it down. These characters were so complex and fascinating and they just made the writing come to life. Excellent book!!
This is a scorching hot read with a sexy, no nonsense biker and a teacher with a wild side. Chaser and Lara's story was unexpected, super hot and yet sweet at the same time. A big tough guy brought down by a petite, well mannered lady always is fun to watch. I am so looking forward to the next book in this series.
