A story about a family who likes to take Christmas to the extreme, minus one member of the family. She discovers a way to bring everyone together, and to enjoy Christmas too.
The title of this book caught me. I just can't imagine being named Mary Christmas. That poor girl. But her issue with Christmas has more to do with the fact that her family just seems to have to overdo everything about it from the biggest tree to lights that make the rest of the block go dark. But can she find her Christmas spirit in time?
The illustrations are charming. I love that when Mary considers everything from "every angle," she's doing yoga.

Fun book teaching about the excesses of the season and how everything is much better if you remember what Christmas is supposed to be. Light hearted, fun illustrations. Definitely worth reading this holiday season.
With a name like Mary Christmas it can be hard to find the Christmas spirit. Her family loves the holiday and always goes way over the top. The tree is too big, the presents too plentiful, the cookies to tasty. Maybe with the help of Santa, Mary can find the Merry in Christmas.

The Christmas family does Christmas in a big way. They have the biggest tree, the largest light display and buy the most presents, but his is not the true meaning of Christmas. Mary does not enjoy Christmas like the rest of her family, she knows something is not right. When she comes up with a way to have the best Christmas ever, the town and everyone in it benefits. A great family story to share about the true meaning of it is better to give than to receive. Fun illustrations finish off this book. I want a hard copy for my family library. This is a book with a great message, yet fun to read together with children.
