I tried several times to complete the book. I read. I skimmed. I tried to concentrate.
The title and cover caught my attention and I was hopeful for a book I couldn't put down.
That didn't happen and I did put it down.
Thanking NetGalley for offering this one.
Atlantis.
Not many words inspire so much wonder and mystery as that one which is why I'm rather obsessed with the myth. I can't help it I love adventure novels that feature the legend so when one of my many library searches led me to The Atlantis Code I was stoked. It sounded awesome and it got reasonably good reviews on Goodreads so as soon as I brought it home from the library I dove into reading it.
I love archaeological books with a bit of mystery and treasure hunting in it but I was disappointed a bit with this book. I wish I could say I really enjoyed it but I didn't. I just could not become interested in the main characters or the story line. I did finish the book but it is not one I would read again.
Thoroughly enjoyed this fast paced thriller. This one has it all; romance, history , religon and Atlantis. Lots of twists, excellent character development.
I think this book needs a change of title, instead of Thomas Lourds must be Natashya, because she is the real hero in this book. Lourds is only a womanizer that in front of the danger becames a sissy, being saved by the two female characters.
I saw that many people compares this book with the DaVinci Code, even putting it above the Dan Brown's book, but since the first page I only found this is just a copycat. The difference is that in The Atlantis Code, they search for Atlantis, linking it with the Catholic Church, as in the DaVinci Code.
The action is very slow, the book too long. Not wanting to read it again.
I had such high hopes for this book. I love anything Atlantis so I was excited to read anything related to it. I had a really hard time finishing this book. I don't know what it was exactly that turned me off, maybe it's predictability? It wasn't terrible but it wasn't very good either. It just wasn't my cup of tea for some reason.
A fast-paced thriller that I did not want to put down. Kept me on the edge of my seat throughout.
I did not finish this book. I only read the first chapter. I just couldn't get into it. Found it kind of boring.
Kept me up all night as I wanted to find out what happened to the characters and did they succeed in their own quests that brought an unlikely group together. The only slight issue I had was the relatively pointless need for the main character to bed hop that added little to the plot.
Thomas Lourds shows up in Egypt for a television filming. He is a well known linguist of ancient languages. He comes up against the Catholic church over some ancient musical instruments. The show's producer has found the first instrument, a bell. At the same time the church is uncovering what they think is the lost city of Atlantis near Cadiz in Spain. A rogue cardinal has hired some bad guys to follow the professor as he tries to track down the info on the instruments. Bodies are dropping as they go. If you liked Da Vinci Code or Indiana Jones then this is the book for you.
