The big appeal for this one is going to be the integration of puzzles. Its more than a simple mystery. By making each clue a puzzle, said puzzle becomes the mystery. You don't have to integrate clues in a complex manner. Its a fairly easily understood story. A great choice for independent readers.

Cute mystery for elementary school children. Readers must solve the clues in order to help Lottie find the titular Eagle of Rome before famous treasure hunter and rude human being Lady Viola Kirton does.

I did not end up reading this one, as it was of too low of a reading level for my students. It looks like a delightful read for younger students, though!
