Letter of the Law was a fast paced novel with an interesting plot, multi dimensional characters, and very descriptive visual settings. It was a story of love and law…love of family and order of the law. However, love of family can come with a price. This was a dilemma for Jade and Bianca. Bianca had the love of her family. Jade’s family kept surprising her, and sometimes not in a good or pleasant way. These two characters faced a myriad of emotions throughout the book, especially when Bianca’s daughter was placed in danger, unintentionally by Jade. The rising action in this story was well done which just added to the reader’s engagement and interest.
Carsen Taite’s Letter of the Law was entertaining and definitely worth the time to read!

I loved Bianca’s character in Above the Law, so I was super excited to see that she was the headliner for Letter of the Law. Bianca Cruz is a federal prosecutor who works diligently to keep the bad guys off the streets of Dallas. She works hard and when she isn’t saving the world she is the mother to a pre-teen girl. Bianca is spunky, this a ball of energy in a beautiful package has a sharp mind and holds nothing back. If she thinks it you can bet she is going to say it. I’m totally smitten with this character.

Our other main is tall and broody, Jade Vargas. If you have been following this series, you know the name Vargas is synonymous with her two uncles and their crime syndicate currently evading the law. Jade doesn’t associate with her uncles, their business is well known and she stays far away. What she does is spend her time breeding horses.

Bianca and jade run into each other and Jade is less than thrilled to find out about what has been happening back home while she was away on business. She doesn’t want anything to do with her uncles or the federal prosecutors trying to find one. Fiery clashes and lots of chemistry, you betcha!

My only complaint is I wish more time would have been spent just between Bianca and Jade. There is a lot of story, crime wise we are working through and I felt their buildup was a bit cheated. Overall a good story as always by Carsen Taite.

Carsen Taite certainly knows how to write a sexy thriller and boy this is no exception.
Book Three of the Lone Star series gives the lime light to Bianca and her growing feelings for hot and sexy Jade. Good to see the other characters from the first two books. This book has it all mystery, romance and will keep you turning the pages, once started its difficult to put down.
It isn't necessary to have read the first 2 books in the series but it would add to your enjoyment of this one if you do read them.
I don't think I've read a CT book that I've not found to be excellent and this is no exception, a must read for all that like a book to be a page turner

Having read each of the entries in the Lone Star series including this, "Letter of the Law," I continue to find myself underwhelmed by the overarching direction of the legal plot lines and the romantic entanglements. Neither Bianca or Jade leaps off of the page, which is fine, but the fact that much of the early text is spent rehashing the events of the previous two volumes, muddles the development of their relationship. The redemptive facets of the whole are Ms. Taite's continued written proficiency, which compensates for the weaker aspects of the tale.

The first part of this books was a review from the other two books in the series and after that I felt the story was a bit rushed. There are a lot of legal parts that, I thought, got a bit boring after a while since I’m not a lawyer and some of the technical terms are not that interesting to me. All in all it was written well and I would recommend it.

This is the third book of the lone star series but although the secondary characters appears in the two previous books and the plot has a continuity, it can be read independently. Somehow, the fact that is a part of a serie makes it incomplete and with so many ramifications in the plot. And because it will surely have a continuation, there are some things, important things for me, unexplained or hastily finished. Well, I have no choice but to wait for the next one. However, the book is exciting and entertaining and I have enjoyed it pretty much.

Few books have gotten me as stirred up and riled about characters than Letter of the Law. Bianca and Jade are likable characters. They're both strong, intelligent, and witty women who are utterly devoted to their families. Yet when it came to matters of the heart that all went out the window. They were uncharacteristicly judgemental and too dim witted to ask even basic questions before jumping to conclusions about motives and behavior when their love affair gets tangled in an investigation. Especially from Bianca, a lawyer trained in the art of chasing down facts regarding the cause and effect of human behavior. It literally drove me nuts....and that's why I liked this book. To make me this frustrated made me realize that there's something between these two that was worth fighting for. Ugh, the dumb things that love makes us say and do! Thankfully, the writing is polished and editing crisp to my delight. A note to the publishing company - it's much appreciated to note on the cover and/or in the book description when a book is part of a series, regardless if it's a stand-alone novel or not. A lot of information is dumped on the reader in the first couple of chapters of this book with hints that the characters had more history. I looked back and found on the "other titles by this author" page that this was book 3 of a series. It's a nice option to know that so a reader can choose to read them in order or not if it doesn't matter.

What is there to say? It's a Carsen Taite book. All the mystery and romance a Texas girl can handle. This is book 3 in the Lone Star Law Series. Lesbians, Law and Love. The main characters are from the previous books and now have their chance at center stage. Carsen knows how to tell a story and to keep you interested. If you like a good mystery, a sweet romance and just enough angst to keep the fire burning, you'll enjoy this. If you want a cool story that will grab you from the beginning and keep the pages turning, Letter of the Law is worth the read.

I enjoy Carsen Taite. She is a talented author.

Bianca and Jade are two characters that are now woven into the series. I could feel the chemistry between the two characters, but it's clouded by the series plot that doesn't quiet reveal itself. So there is a lot of retelling of the old story lines.

I enjoyed the interaction between Jade and Bianca, but often times it was disjointed by different scenes with other characters that didn't flow with the overall story. However I trust the story arch will soon be revealed in the coming books, but it can be a little confusing to remember all the criminal elements from previous books.

The book does show beautifully the strength of Jade and her depth for caring. Her passion and intelligence. And Bianca does open her heart and take a chance from just being a "mom". I just longed for more time between these two characters. Overall a very good read.

Carsen Taite is back in her typical fashion of no-nonsense suspense, a high stakes criminal case and some romance.

What I enjoyed:
I immensely enjoyed the romance portions of the book, the family dynamics and interactions. There was a lot going on and the author worked them very well into the story.

What I wish:
I wish there was more of it, the book ended with the typical 'The End' typed in that usually leaves the reader hanging on for more. Ofcourse it would help a lot if the next book in the series was mentioned along with a synopsis to soften the blow. As mentioned earlier, there was a lot of family stuff in there and the author should have extended it more to sort them out especially since I know whenever the next book comes out, it wont give the readers any focus or closure on these two.

What's wrong:
If this book is an indication of the author's previous work in this series then i'd say a few more chapters to include the POV of other characters will be greatly appreciated. I'm thinking Jae's Portland Bureau Series where we don't leave the protagonists in the first book behind but continue their story along with the new romance.

Carsen doesn't make her characters linger which is a shame because they are always such interesting and tough women.

I am quite a fan of Carsen Taite's thrillers and law-themed books. This one is no exception either. It's filled with mystery, angst, plots, and of course, loads of chemistry between Bianca and Jade. I actually liked both characters a lot, and knowing them from previous books as minor characters, I already was very fond of them.
If you're looking for a great thriller to keep your eyes and mind on the book until you finish it, at once, of course, then this is the right book for you.

Third part of the Lone Star Law series by Carsen Taite which, according to the author, is inspired on the old TV soap opera Dallas. I recommend to read it in chronological order as there are loads of details of the plot that otherwise will get lost. The author attempts to do a catch up with the important events of the previous books in the first few chapters with variable success. Consequently, some parts seem too descriptive and don't flow very well within the plot.

Each part of the series focus on a romance between two members of a self-appointed and underground team committed to fight the Vargas drug cartel. This book describes the romantic involvement between Federal prosecutor Bianca Cruz and Jade Vargas, a horse breeder and niece of the drug cartel boss. Their romance part of the book is fine, the chemistry between the main characters is okay and there are a couple of hot scenes but some circumstances surrounding the investigation are, in my view, a bit unrealistic.

So far I have given all the books in the series a 3 star rating so, overall, it's not appealing to me. It's a pity because Ms. Taite is one of my favourite lesbian authors and I still consider her series Luca Bennett bounty hunter one of the best in the genre.
3 stars.

Decided not to review this book after all. It is not my preferred genre and don't feel I could give it an unbiased review.
