Wooeee! What a great story and boy is it hot, hot, hot!
This had such a great story-line. For a short story it sure packs a punch; amazing characters, manipulation, lots of emotions, and steamy scenes that will have you fanning yourself.
This was a 5 star read for me all the way until the last 2 chapters; at that point, the ending was very rushed and lost some of its steam and excitement. I would have liked more time with a certain thing that happens and more of them all together. I think an epilogue would have helped.
I loved the dynamic of the story and the relationships! I absolutely loved the characters and wanted more of them. Dean, Jack, and Paige are sure to steal your heart!
This is a super steamy menage romance ... But if you don't like mm action I wouldn't read it ... Otherwise I happened to enjoy it emmensely
I really liked this book and the characters in it. I loved how the guys set her up to find them and I also liked that it didn't take too long for their relationship to begin. Unfortunately, it started to move way too fast after that. Stephanie rolled into town with a kid and her parents arrived and then her ex and finance. It was too much too fast.
“Remember that you are ours and we are yours and nothing will stand in our way.”
The urge to pun is strong. I mean, the book is called The Handy Men, and its hot AF—lots of nailing, screwing and, unfortunately, a late wrench in the works.
Real talk: this is very fast, extremely hot read. One that, for the most part, was enjoyable and had a good, strong story to back it up.
Paige and Dean are likable, right off the bat. Jack… I didn’t like as much. His role in the late, and IMHO unnecessary, drama bothered me. In fact, the whole inclusion of said drama bothered me. Until then, The Handy Men was solid; enough tension was born of the conservative nature of their island home and Paige's unsupportive parents to keep my interest. If this book had continued on in that vein, I'm certain Id have enjoyed it to the very end, but…
I won't say more. As it stands, know that I liked this book for the majority. I don't feel like the ending was rewarding or lengthy enough to satisfy—though it certainly went out with a *bang*, so to speak—but if you want something quick and dirty, then you'll find that (and more) right here.
Pressed between them, she felt like nothing could harm her. With these two at her side, she could do anything."
~ THREE STARS ~
This book was hot and I really enjoyed the story. It has a lot of steam to make you melt and swoon!
This book started out good but quickly went down hill in the third act. The introduction of Stephanie and the baby were a bit odd and then the whole wanting to be married to one another was bizarre. I thought it could have blossomed into an interesting book, especially with her parents and the townspeople but it just didn't end up making any sense
The Handy Men is the first book I have read by Jamie K. Schmidt.
Paige Richards is twenty eight years old and is starting her life over. After a failed marriage due to a cheating husband, she used every penny she had plus loaned money from her parents and bought the Nutmeg Inn, a ten bedroom bed and breakfast on Hamlet Island off the Connecticut shoreline. It needed a lot of work and the grand opening was in one month. She couldn’t have done it without the help of her two handy men, two men who even though they are married, to each other, fueled her fantasies every night. These two had everything, hot bodies, as well as being kind, fun, compassionate, and they were her best friends. Life was different on the island. People were conservative, slow to accept outsiders. And the married men most definitely gave them all something to talk about. But to Paige, they were her friends, saviors, and even though they didn’t know it, they were part of her dreams.
Dean and Jack Reynolds love each other. They have known Paige for almost a year now and they know that they want more from her, that they want to share their lives and their bed with her. Even though they are legally married, they want her to be a permanent part of their lives. They know she is attracted to them but she is afraid to admit it. So, they decide to help her along a little bit. They don’t want to do anything to jeopardize the opening of the inn or their friendship but they’ve waited as long as they could.
First of all, this is a fairly short book and it started out so strong. I instantly fell in love with Paige and the guys. Paige was dealing with so much. Not only the stress of opening the inn but also her crappy, controlling parents were constantly trying to manipulate her. Even though they loaned her the money which they were holding over her head, they weren’t supportive at all. Don’t even get me started on her ex-husband. What a waste of space that man is.
The guys were so cute (and hot) the way they tried to get Paige to initiate things. They most definitely loved and supported her and would do anything for her.
“Pressed between them, she felt like nothing could harm her. With these two at her side, she could do anything.”
But then later on, what I initially thought might be a five star read, lost a little steam. And I don’t mean in the sexy times department but with the rest of it. The guys have an ex that comes back and throws a wrench in things, (get it, handy men - wrench!) And the ending left something to be desired. The whole, okay, you’re our wife now, just like that, just didn’t go with the sweet guys I was getting to know. Maybe they could have had a commitment ceremony or something. It just seemed to be so blasé. I wanted more for Paige.
In any event, I’m giving it four stars. With all the people trying to yank the rug out from under Paige, she held strong and I was so proud of her. And then there is that hotness factor with two very sexy handy men. The sexy times did not disappoint. I did enjoy the book, I just wish the ending was done a little differently.
This book was going so well then at 70% it went into the toilet with OW drama, a surprise baby, one of the heroes wanting the OW still which felt an awful lot like cheating to me...what a way to ruin a book.
The Handy Men was a steamy MMF romance. I enjoyed all aspects of this story and the character’s relationships with each other. I look forward to reading more by this author.
Quick read, straight into it and a good story to three peoples happy ever after. I was interested to see how it all comes about and was happy with the three characters finding love with each other and was pretty convinced they would live happily ever after. Light on the conflict which was fine, some good secondary characters throwing roadblocks in the way but I was happy with how it all turned out. Novella's dont give much opportunity to expand and I felt the author did a great job. Enjoyed it!
I loved this heart-warming story about breaking stereotypes and reinventing life against all odds.
Paige is a survivor on the verge of success, with one goal, making her Inn the place to be. After divorcing her cheating bastard of a husband she is definitely in need of some good karma and a new start.
Jack and Dean are her best friends, two gorgeous handy man, who she knows are off limits and... married to each other. But what if her hot fantasies about these two can become a reality?
This story is a sizzling read, which I devoured in one day. Oh, and Jack and Dean... total perfections:
Dean: ‘I now pronounce us husbands and wife. We’re now going to fuck the bride.’
Jack: ‘Remember, that you are ours and we are yours and nothing will stand in our way.’
Oh I loved this hot little read I was able to review. While short on pages, it packs a wallop in terms of heat.
There were a few areas that where the author could have increased the descriptive portions and character development to reel the reader in tight, but I also appreciated the fact that it was short and sweet.
The author brings us a spicy menage story with MMF action that is high on the steam factor. A good read for what it is... a novella that gets right to the punch without a lot of extraneous details.
The Handy Men is a scorching hot romance for those who love erotica. Paige is trying to get her B & B open on time and handymen, Jack and Dean, are helping her. Handsome and sexy, Jack and Dean are married which is a pity according to Paige. When Paige finds out that they enjoy being in a committed menage relationship she's thrilled. However her parents and the people in town are scandalized. Will anyone stay at her B & B when they find out about her love life? Red hot romance.
The Handy Men was a little different. I've never read a book about a menage where the men were in a committed relationship and married before meeting the woman they want for their third. I mean Jack and Dean are hot all on their own and would have been enough, but then they throw Paige into the relationship and it amps up the hot factor quite a bit. The ending was missing something for me though, a couple of issues that didn't get answered and left me thinking that there could been more.
By virtue of the fact we're talking threesomes AND Ms Schmidt, we know this book is going to be smokin'. No disappointment AT ALL. Great storyline, awesome sexy times, fast pace and colourful. Stephanie's character was maybe not filled out.... she initially came back to town to reclaim "her" boyfriends, and then was later relieved that their menage relationship would not, in fact, rekindle. So- weird there. And I didn't feel like Jack was particularly invested... but whatevs. It had a happy ending, all the loose ends tied in nicely, and I was highly entertained :)
What a smoking hot good romance. I liked it. Good solid writing and plot.
Another great read! This was a quick read but great story and way hot scenes. I like menage books and this had a great story with real issues to go with it which made it even better. Look forward to more of Ms. Schmidt's work. Honest review in exchange for ARC.
