Very cute and funny. I am a Lisa Scottoline fan and this is a departure from her usual writing. I found it funny and informative at times
This is a bunch of short stories. I was cracking up while reading them. I t is a great book to have a round to pick up when you are having a bad day or when you just need a good read.

These are a series of entertaining essays written by Lisa and her daughter Francesca commenting on events with which most people can identify. It certainly gave me a greater insight into one of my favourite authors.
The perfect read for the busy woman on the go. The chapters are short enough to read while waiting for the doctor, picking up kids from sports and waiting in the grocery store line. Beware, you will laugh out loud probably at the most inappropriate moments. Between Lisa and Francesca every woman will find something they relate to in their stories.
My favorite line in the book: "...when we all know that the one and only aphrodisiac is a man volunteering to build you some bookshelves." Finally, someone who gets me. Build me some bookshelves and I will love you forever. Come to think of it, I think that is how my husband got me.
Thank you to NetGalley and St. Martin's Press for the ARC to read. This review is based on my own honest opinion.
Always a delight, Lisa Scottoline and Francesca Serritella return with another hilarious collection of essays that often have me looking over my shoulder because I could too often relate (more to Lisa, mind you, with our shared hatred of bras and love of Bradley Cooper). This is the perfect beach read!
I want to thank Lisa Scottoline, Francesca Serritella, St. Martin's Press and Netgalley for giving me this book for my honest review!

OMG this was HILARIOUS!!! The mother daughter team of Lisa Scottoline and Francesca Serritella team back up for a new book that is a collection of stories from their lives! This book had me laughing out loud and wanting it to NEVER end! I mean come on they tried SMELL DATING!!!
This book was amazing! It is truly a comedy that will leave you in pain from laughing so hard. This book also has an amazing message that every woman needs a dose of. I love the mother daughter aspect to this book too, I can tell some funny stories about me and my mom as we are close and I can not wait to have some amazing, drunk, gooefy stories with my daughter....many years from now of course lol.
If you are looking for an amazing beach read that will make your heart happy, your sides sore from laughing and just an all around fun book then ONE CLICK this amazing book!
Smell dating, the recent election, dogs, mothers, carbs, nude dining—this mother and daughter duo isn’t afraid to tackle some of the very strange and also normal everyday occurrences. They had me shaking my head at how often everyday life comes across as hilarious. Of course, there are the more serious stories that gave me a lot to think about: how getting assaulted changed Francesca and gave her the opportunity to more fully appreciate the good, kind people around her and even though humorous, there were plenty of insights throughout on how we are affected by the opinions and actions of those around us. I particularly enjoyed reading about Lisa’s book club gatherings every year. It makes me wish I was in a book club so I could be part of the fun.
This was definitely a welcome book to enjoy at the beginning of summer; although, it has topics that would be good all year. You might just as easily pick this up in December and find some relief during the holidays with thoughts of last minute shopping and hilariously trying a new Christmas recipe on top of everything else you have to do for that particular day.
I think this light-hearted look at life is what most doctor’s order; they say humor is good for us. I highly recommend it.
“Life gets in the way” is an understatement when it comes to why I haven’t read a book in so long. But you don’t want to hear about that…..you want to know what I thought about this book. Well, I loved it! As I do all the antidotal books this mother/daughter team puts out. I’m about a decade younger than Lisa, but relate and find plenty of humor in her stories. And although a different generation than Francesca, I enjoy her stories as well. I truly enjoy them all and feel like they are family while I read these books.
These stories are just the dose of humor needed. I’ve read a couple biographies of comedians this year and actually enjoy these books more. Neither make you laugh ‘til you cry, but I find these stories more relatable and thus more funny and endearing. They are an easy read to take you away from the chaos of everyday life. And with it being a book of short stories, you can easily put it down and pick it back up without worrying about where you left off (or you can just read it in two days like me).
Thank you to Net Galley and St. Martin's Press for an advanced copy in return for an honest review.
These collections of stories by Ms. Scottoline and her daughter are always fun to read, and this was no exception, despite my not being a huge fan of anthologies and short story collections. It's obvious that the authors have a great relationship, as it shows in their writing and their stories. I especially like the idea of a Guyatus, something that sounds like a wonderful idea -- from time to time!
I received a copy of this book from the publisher via NetGalley. The opinions expressed are my own.
The mother-daughter duo of Lisa and Francesca have another hit for readers! Their style of short essays with humor and (some) seriousness are addicting. I can't wait to buy the audio version and listen to them read their work.
Highly recommended and appreciated!
A quirky, funny, anecdotal novel that will have you laughing, tearing up and saying, "I know exactly what you're saying!"
With small chapters on various topics, this is a novel you can read, put down to do a weekend baseball tournament with your kids, then get right back into without missing s beat.
There are so few books that actually make laugh out loud, to the point where my husband asks what's so funny, but this is one of those. Lisa and Francesca feel like my best friends, sharing my same complaints and reflecting on life in the same way I do, only funnier. I love how the book switches between Lisa and Francesca, both of whom are in different stages of life and even live in different areas - Lisa the suburbs, Francesca the city. It just goes to show how much of life is the same for everyone, something that I love about these books.
I've read a few others in the series and can honestly say that these are my favorite nonfiction books that I've ever read. If you're looking for a good, lighthearted laugh, with some real-life hard emotions thrown in, this book is for you. In fact, this series is for you. Actually, these women are for you.
Oh my gosh, if you need or want some laughs, this book will have you giggling out loud from just about the beginning. The timing that I read this book was perfect because my book club had just read a few books that were slow, dreary, and/or heavy. I desperately needed something happy and funny and I Need a Lifeguard Everywhere but the Pool (The Amazing Adventures of an Ordinary Woman) certainly fit that bill. Just make sure you do not read somewhere you can't laugh. My husband kept asking me to stop laughing while he was sleeping. I tried to muffle my giggles, but finally put the book aside until morning because the muffling made me shake and that woke him up too! I chose this book for our next book club selection and know everyone is going to love it.
I love everything Lisa and Francesca write. They have an awesome writing partnership and write as if they are dear friends of the reader. Nothing is left to the imagination or off limits with these two amazing storytellers.
Thanks so much to NetGalley, St Martin's Press and the author for the opportunity to read and review this book!
What can I say? I always love these books! This mother-daughter writing duo never fail to make me laugh, cry, relate, and basically want to be their best friends - because they already seem like best friends! I kept reading these short chapters in between other things, basically prolonging finishing the book.
If you haven't read any of these books - start at the beginning so you know and love all the backstories, and just enjoy! Highly recommended as always!
This book was a fun read and it was an easy weekend read. If you are a fan of Lisa Scottoline or Francesca Serritella then this book is a great choice for you! I enjoyed this book.
A humorous and entertaining collection of short anecdotes by two talented authors, Lisa Scottoline and her daughter, Francesca Serritella. This book of amusing , "laugh out loud " (or should I say LOL) stories of real life, show the ridiculous and absurd in our lives today as well as a positive glance of two successful women in a crazy world! I personally loved the introduction of the book written by Lisa describing herself and her daughter! ( Lisa asks the reader if they have ever had a daughter roll her eyes behind her back. ) Lisa's descriptions show the reader her honesty and love of life. Lisa Scottoline is a best-selling author of many fabulous thriller/mysteries. I have loved her and her books since I heard her speak at a library convention years ago. When I got to meet her, I told her that we could definitely be friends! I'm sure that she's heard it a lot since she exudes intelligence, down-to-earth friendliness and a narration that delights the heart of every modern, independent woman alive! You will laugh, sigh and marvel at the wittiness and insight shown by Lisa and Francesca in their stories.
I Need a Lifeguard Everywhere But the Pool by Lisa Scottoline and Francesca Serritella will be available July 11, 2017 by St. Martin's Press. An egalley of this book was made available by the publisher in exchange for a honest review.
Once again, Lisa and Francesca have kicked off the summer reading season with a load of laughs! Their latest title doesn't disappoint!
I love this series, but I've missed a few, so I went back and added those to my "want to read" list. This is a mother daughter writing team who write about their own personal life experiences as well as some very funny chapters on everyday life observations. I was interested in the amount of time they spend on the internet just researching stuff that I never would dream of researching. It was really funny the things they were able to find out lol. It's also very charming, and I enjoyed how much they enjoy people. I can't imagine hosting a whole weekend for 1200 book club fans and spend 5 hours hugging each and every fan. I want to hug them too! Thank you Netgalley for this entertaining and enjoyable read in exchange for my honest review! BTW...I read this book by the beach, and I'm sure folks stared at my LOL moments!
