“Paradise Valley” is C.J. Box’s latest thriller, and I promise this book is one of the best I have read. Cassie Dewell is the Chief Investigator for the BCSD in Grimstad, North Dakota, and she is preparing for her wedding to a fellow Sherriff employee while attempting to set a trap for the infamous Lizard King. The Lizard King is a long haul truck driver who enjoys hurting and killing women, Cassie has made it her mission with the help of Leslie Behaunek a federal prosecutor, to hunt him down after he slipped through their grasp on a previous encounter. With the trap set, Cassie brings in her boss Sherriff Kirkbride and the city attorney into her plan, but when it does not go right Cassie must set out on her own to bring the Lizard King to justice. This is a roller coaster ride of suspense that will keep the reader entertained until the very end. I was given an advanced copy of this book, and all of the opinions expressed in this review are my own.

This book was hard to put down! C. J. Box takes the reader on quite an adventure. Great ending to the Lizard King and hope to read more about Cassie.

Fun CJ Box book, yet again. Interesting and satisfying. Love this line series.

I'm sorry but I am too big of a Joe Pickett fan to get into this series. It just does not grab me like his other.

Another great book by Mr. Box, great read to anybody looking for something new and fresh. Could not put the book down until I was done.

Not one of Box's best. Maybe my expectations were something different from what was delivered.

This is another thriller from C.J. Box in the Cassie Dewell series. There are many twists and turns in the book. The excitement slowly builds until you find yourself cheering for the good guys in the end. Another fantastic book.

This book just isn't for me. I found it formulaic with undeveloped characters whose every move was hardly unexpected.

The Lizard King was indeed a reptile of the most vile type. A predator, he hunted down and killed “disposable” women in truck stops and on the interstate for years. Cassie Dewell, an investigator for the North Dakota sheriff’s department has a plan to take him down once and for all. It’s the perfect plan and it works…up until it falls terrible and messily adapt. Disgraced and shamed, Cassie is out of a job. When the trouble boy, Kyle. she’s been working with runs away, his grandmother begs Cassie for help. With nothing else to do, Cassie agrees and soon realizes that Kyle is not off on the little joy ride he told everyone he was going on. With no one to believe her and no one to back her up, Cassie is on her own and she won’t stop until she finds Kyle. I loved this book on so many levels, probably most of all because Cassie didn’t need to run to a man to save her. Great read
