I received this ARC from Netgalley in exchange for an honest review.
I didn't realise that I've previously read this novella in another book... it's nice enough, I guess, but not entirely necessary. It didn't add enough to the storyline.
This whole series is a terrific read. Great characters and wonderfully creative world building.
Fans will love it. As this story looks at how Talen and his mate acclimatise to a new peaceful world. Talen was the first of the Kayrs brothers we met in the series and no doubt a real fan favourite, so it was great to see him struggle with peace and even more so to know the Neanderthal still lurks too close to the surface.
This isn't stand alone and it is only novella, so I'd say for fans only. But a sweet fun read with a great dose of that Kayrs gorgeousness!
The war is over but the danger isn't. Cars & Talen are going on their first trip since the war ended but Talen is still worried about what is out there. He might be the stronger enforcer but he knows that if anything happened to the woman that he lives, he would kill everything. Cara just wants him to treat her differently she is no longer ill, she is stronger and healthy now. The trip doesn't go as planned as someone wants Cara and they will stop at nothing to get her.
Can Talen and the boys stop what is about to come their way?
A great short story. This is why we love the series.
I was lucky enough to receive a copy via Netgalley & the publishing house in exchange for my honest review.
Cara and Talens' after the war. Although I usually really like this author I struggled a bit with this one. The final climax seemed a little too wrapped up, and there were couples and names thrown left and right that meant nothing to me. Wish more details and organization was shown. Overall though, I did like the premise of the story, and did like the characters that were shown more indepth. Would recommend, but could have been stronger.
As always this author never disappoints, great storyline, bringing back great characters in a super fast sexy read.
Talen is another book into the series. It is my first book from the series so I really don’t know a lot of facts that was described in the book. It is a short story and it seems like just a longer chapter between Cara and Talen. It is story with a lot of action, suspense and great scenes between Cara and Talon like hot and dirty. I enjoyed reading it. Great pass of the time on a lazy raining afternoon.
I volunteered to review an ARC of this book for Netgelly
I was delighted to be given a NetGalley ARC of this story. It's really short but should make fans of the series happy as it gives another look into Cara and Talen's story. I also love that it's a cross-over story with her spin-off series Realm Enforcers. You get a window into both of these series and favorite characters.
The war may be over but peace is not for these creatures. It seems trouble follows them wherever they go. Cara is now healed and searching for ways to make her immortality have meaning besides being Talen's mate and mother to their 2 children. Their little grand-daughter almost steals the book but the action does that instead. And oh boy, to these two burn up the sheets! Well they would if they ever made it to a bed that is.
Thanks so much Kensington and Rebecca for giving me a free copy of this book for a review. Loved it. Now I've got to binge read the whole series in order!
I was glad to see Talon and Cara beyond their original story. It was wonderful seeing her outside her illness and how Talon finally took off the kid gloves. For a short story it was packed with action, suspense, and snappy sexual tension. I hope she revisits some of her other characters in the future.
Who doesn't want to read more of the couple that started it all. Talen and Cara started it all in Fated. A short story that packs a lot of hotness and love that Rebecca is known for. Can we ever have to much Talen? No I don't think so.

Anytime I get to go back to this world, I am so excited as this is one of the best series I have ever read. I love the Dark Protectors series and since the series started with Talen himself.....he will always hold a special place in my heart. I first read this novella at the end of Wicked Burn a while ago, but was super happy to go back and read it again.....
I loved this short and sweet little novella about Talen and Cara that takes places after the war is ended and life is getting back to normal....well as normal as it can for a vampire and his human mate!!!
I especially loved seeing some of the wolf shifters again, as well as Garrett and Logan.... (man I cant wait for their stories).....
This was action packed from start to finish, with of course some sexiness from our man Talen....super fast, super hot, super awesome read.....:)
Never think something is ever complete. As author knows that when a character speaks to you, it must be time to write their story. Well, Talen and Cara spoke to Rebecca Zanetti. Their journey wasn’t finished like we thought. We see that it has been twenty-fives years that Talen and Cara have been married. That they’re happily married with two adult children and one adorable grandchild. What we also see, is Talen being Talen. That’s right…you would think that after twenty-five years and there’s peace among demons that Talen would stop being over protective. Nope! And like Talen is found saying “I have lived over a decade, to know that peace is short lived.” Not a perfect quote, but you see what I mean. But later you would understand that Talen is never wrong. Because no sooner, then they leave the house demons are hot on their trail. And their mission is to capture Cara.
It is not too often, that authors revisit old characters, and we as readers get to see our beloved characters once more and to see how they're faring. You would think once that character or characters story has been told that its the end of it. But it’s nice to know, we can never assume anything.
Like in their original story, Talen is again a badass, out to prove that he is still nothing to mess with….in war or peace time. And when it comes to protecting Cara he would do absolutely anything.
For Talen to be a short novella, it didn’t take long for me to fall in love with Talen and Cara all over again. I think this might be true for you.
Talen by Rebecca Zanetti goes on sale June 6, 2017
I have already read part of this novel in a previous book, so I was disappointed and in a way there was nothing new in the plot and there was, as usual, too much sex.
Avevo giá letto parte di questa storia in un libro precedente e inoltre non é che apporti grosse novitá alla trama generale, a parte, come al solito, una quantitá di pagine a contenuto sessuale di cui si poteva fare a meno...
THANKS TO NETGALLEY FOR THE PREVIEW!
I totally enjoyed Talen. Good solid writing by a talented author. Ms. Zanetti never fails to deliver. THanks!!!
This is a quick read in the Dark Protector's world about Talen and Cara Kayrs. I loved this book. Yes it is short. But if you have read the full book about Talen and Cara and how they mated then this book will give you that much appreciated snippet into their lives now that the war is over. It has the action that is always loved in these books along with the love and family! And having some much loved characters make an appearance? It's a great thing! Never a bad read with Rebecca Zanetti's books!
I am a fan of Ms Zanetti's Sin Brothers and Scorpious Syndrome series. I liked the cover of Talen and decided to give it a try. I know this is way into her Dark Protectors series, but I enjoyed it just the same. I love this paranormal world she crafted with vamps, demons and weres. There has been a long time war, so why didn't they finally feel some peace? Loved Cara and Talen and the action was non-stop. Now I have to start with this Dark Protectors series and I am not complaining!
So hooked on this couple and this series.
Cara is so excited to go on a trip with Talen after being sick for so long and the war. Talen, not so much! But they need to get her samples to a lab before they go on to Hawaii. The trip though is filled with surprises for everyone and may not be all it's supposed to be.
Action filled with hot sex and funny moments. Loved it!
I received this ARC in exchange for an honest review.
TALEN is a short story that takes place after the ending of the war. Cara is no longer sick and is trying to find purpose in this time of peace. She’s got plans but she’s also got an overbearing mate that refuses to let her out of his sight and would prefer she stay hidden, wrapped in cotton and tucked away safely for all time. Fortunately, Cara is not having any of that.
I really enjoyed this novella. I love how strong Cara is and that she won’t back down from her mate’s demands or any threats that try to take away her independence. Cara wants her own identity and to forge her own path, which is very important to her. She’s the kind of heroine you want to be, especially if you’re mated to a foxy vampire like Talen. RAWR!
This is a quick, full throttle read that will leave you wanting more! I recommend this or any books by Rebecca Zanetti.
***I voluntarily read a copy of the book in exchange for an honest review. All conclusions reached are my own***
Loved it! I actually read this story before and didn't realize that this story was featured as a bonus in her Realm Enforcers series, Wicked Burn, featuring Nick & Simone, another great read. I must say that I love the way Zanetti writes. I get so involved in the story, that I block everything else out. This was a great short read! Talen & Cara started it all and through the Dark Protectors series we have snippets of them in almost every story, this...THIS WAS BEAUTIFUL AND WONDERFUL! Talen is so intense and the love and fierce protectiveness he has for his mate, the very best of his soul, is truly AMAZING!!! Add in the non-stop action, cameos from past characters and this novella is FANTASTIC!!! A 5 star read!!! Now to wait impatiently*tapping my foot* for Wicked Kiss. That Adam & Toni? I can't wait!!! Lol. Bravo Zanetti!!!!
My review from when I originally read this in Wicked Burn... Talen Kayrs you stole my heart long ago and you always manage to keep it. Forever my #1 Realm love. The novella is amazing and is great for adding to the Realm Enforcers series. Plus we get to see my favorite Realm Rogue Terrent, and the endearingly sweet Logan and Garrett.
My review after rereading this!
Oh my heart....it's Talen's through and through. That male just does it for me. I loved this so much even knowing what was in store for me. Lovers of this series will not be disappointed in this glimpse of our favorite couple after the war and those who've never read it can certainly read it and whet their appetite for more!
