I hadn't realized I had read this one before as part of another book. Still great to catch up with Talon again! Love this couple so much.
Cara is healed and the war is over. Now she wants to start teaching but first Talen is taking her to Hawaii. But first they have to drop off some samples and are ambushed by demons. They just want Cara but she won't hide away like a good mate should. She wants to fight by her man. Garrett and Logan help protect them and until they find out what these demons want, they are in danger.
Short, totally hot story. After twenty some years of marriage, they can burn up the sheets like a couple of young kids.
LOVED this book! Im so glad to get back to the Kyres! I also love how they included glimpses of the WICKED series and the Wolves in. There will never be a man more alpha then Talen and love how Cara is his perfect match and loves to push his buttons! We all know that there's no one else on the planet that could get away with even a fraction of the stuff that Cara puts him thru lol. I really enjoyed seeing the bond that they have to each other, and even better then that, the bond that they have for their children, grandchild and other family members.
This story is the book that bridges the gap between the Dark Protectors series and it's off shoot the Realm Enforcers. The author has done an amazing job because she's gone back to the beginning with longtime fan favourite Talen and his mate Cara. A lot has happened in the past twenty years or so since they met and now they have two children and one very cute granddaughter. There's finally peace between the Vampires and the Demons but perhaps not everyone is pleased. Could it be that racial purists will still want to rage war and if so what or who will be their targets? Talen and Cara are charged with delivering genetic material that could hold so many answers but their journey is about to get derailed . Could anything else go wrong?
This for me was a joy to read as I'm a long time fan of this series although I should point out that this story was previously published in Wicked Ride although honestly rereading it was no hardship! What stands out here is not just the fact that it's a short adventure but the relationship between the couple and how the dynamics have changed now that a cure has been discovered. Talen is used to viewing Cara as weak and fragile but she's still the woman he fell in love with caring, competent and perhaps more stubborn than he likes! Seeing them adjust and connect in such a way was fabulous but the author also gives her readers plenty of fun along with the steam. So pair up an uber protective Vampire with a woman who is anything but meak and mild and watch the sparks fly as this couple combust!
