The Negotiator by Avery Flynn was One Powerful Read. I Loved and Enjoyed reading every single second of this story. This Book hooks you and pulls you in from the beginning till the End.
I Would like to Give The Negotiator 5 STARS and I Highly Recommend it to all the Readers.
Oh boy … did the negotiator suck. NO, NOT THE BOOK, the negotiator himself. He was out-witted, out-talked and, definitely, out-maneuvered by one hell of a smart, sexy and funny woman. Sawyer Carlyle met his match when he met Clover Lee and she let him know it every chance she got.
I loved this story … I laughed, cursed and then laughed some more as the story unfolded. Jane “Clover” Lee was magnificent. Sawyer Carlyle was an ass. But, when they got together and negotiated the terms of their agreement, they never imagined that boots would be hidden, that flea markets would be fun and Romcom would be their downfall. But, pulling the wool over everyone’s eyes about their engagement was hard work and had to be as real as it could get. It became harder and harder for them to ignore their feelings and, when push finally came to shove … well, like I said Sawyer was an ass. Yes, don’t worry, he does redeem himself and does take a good hard look himself to see everything that he missed and could miss.
Avery Flynn rates very high on my “gotta read” list. I am thrilled that I got to read and review this light-hearted, fun story that she penned. I could always count on her to give me a good story. I know that it will be fluent, the words will flow right off the pages, have just a little angst and a whole lot of hot loving. If you are looking for a fun read that will keep you smiling, by an author who knows just how to keep you invested in a story, pick up The Negotiator.
Loved loved loved this one! It was laugh out loud funny with generous amounts of romance and lots of steam! ;)
Now, where can I find myself a Sawyer?
I truly enjoyed this story. clover and sawyer got me smiling so big and their story kept me hooked with humour and the attraction between these two opposites. It started out as a joke but soon things change and heat up between them, leading to sweet and sexy times, always with a good laugh.
I found the story very entertaining and the characters especially well worth of a page turner.
I def hope for more to come!

Sawyer wants to punch his brother when he finds out he placed an add for him ......Then he sees her telling off his mom ( as she thinks this is her chance to show she would be a good buffer lol ) Clover did not know it was his mom LOL let the game begin ! Come along for the ride as these 2 find out how much more a like they are then dif .I REALLY enjoyed this book fort those wondering YES there is sex in this book! Avery did a very nice job on these scenes ! Grab you copy now and a cup/glass of your fav wind down drink and get to it !
Oh, how I love this book! Sawyer and Clover are AMAZING! I even watched a Flea Market Flip marathon as I was finishing the book, because transformer a piece of furniture (or a man or woman) into the best it can be is something special!
um ... so this was cute but .... I couldn't connect with the story. plus ... the whole foreign language turrets thing was distracting and I didn't see the point. I mean the girl just spewed random foreign words out of her mouth at random times and none it made sense to me. also ... a little research on the whole what language foreign countries actually speak wouldn't hurt before you write that into a story.
spoiler alert: Malay is NOT the main language of Singapore so why would it be useful in negotiations? I dunno, entirely too much fantasy land for me. I like my fiction realistic and accurate so .....
I feel like I have read this story before... it was not what I was expecting from the blurb.
The Negotiator (A Hot Romantic Comedy) by Avery Flynn
This is billionaire Sawyer Carlyle and Clover Lee's story.
This book is fantastic! I knew from the beginning that this book was going to be a winner.
Sawyer works all the time. He has a reputation for being grumpy. Well, thanks to his brother he ended up hiring Clover as his Personal Buffer. Now, you will just have to read the book to find out what Sawyer's brother did. Well, Clover is something else! I fell in love with her right away. Right away you can feel the chemistry between Sawyer and Clover. Sawyer and Clover are so different but are perfect for each other.
A fun, entertaining, and hot romance. In the end who is the best "negotiator? Or do they negotiate for a long term plan where they both are winners? Be prepared to laugh and lose yourself in this story. You won't be able to put it down.
FYI, contains mature content. I voluntarily reviewed an Advance Reader Copy of this book.
To be honest this one didn't grab my attention. If I had to pinpoint it, it was the style of the writing. It did run smoothly.
I loved reading The Negotiator by Avery Flynn. Sawyer and Clover were my favorite type of couple – real. They have amazing chemistry, they fall in love, they drive each other nuts, they break up and make up and get back together. I could easily imagine knowing these two.
Clover answers an ad for a “personal buffer”. The ad was placed by Sawyer’s brother Hudson, mostly as a joke, but it backfires spectacularly when Clover shows up and manages to scare off Sawyer’s un-scare-offable mother. He hires her immediately, after negotiating the terms of their agreement – six weeks of personal buffering in exchange for enough money for Clover to fund her next long-term trip overseas to help a local charity. In this case, she’s going to Australia to help endangered rock wallabies. Her negotiating skills are enough to interest Sawyer, and the rest comes along at a standard romance novel pace. Which is to say, quicker than most of the couples I know have fallen in love, but at the same rate as most romance novel couples.
I wasn’t really sure how I felt about Clover in the beginning. The first time we meet her, she announces to Sawyer’s mom, in front of an entire room of people, that Sawyer doesn’t have time for a threesome with her, which seemed like a bit of a leap in logic. She walked into his office in the middle of the morning, for heaven’s sake. I can’t imagine seeing a clearly mom-aged woman stride into a man’s office in the middle of the morning and call him by his first name, and jumping to the conclusion that she’s there for a threesome. But clearly Sawyer felt differently, and immediately hired her.
But as it turned out, I liked Sawyer, but I loved Clover. Not only did she not take any shit from Sawyer, she let him hear about it when he tried to give it to her. She didn’t just stomp off and drink wine with her girlfriends. (Not that I’ll ever condemn anyone for drinking wine). She did eventually spend time with her girlfriends, but not until she let him hear about it. Clover wasn’t about to let Sawyer, or his overbearing mother, walk all over her.
I like every Avery Flynn book I read a little bit better than the previous one, which is saying a lot because I’ve been steadily working my way through her extensive backlist. Sawyer and Clover, like my favorite romance couples, had genuine problems, but not over-the-top angst. And even better, they both recognized those issues and were willing to work on them. Sawyer gave really good grovel, which I love to see. (Not just from the dude, either. I like a good grovel no matter which way it goes). Clover started to realize exactly why she spent so much of her life traveling and running all over the world, and Sawyer needed to figure out a way to deal with his mother and her constant matchmaking.
I’m pretty sure we’re going to get at least one follow up book featuring Sawyer’s brother Hudson. I can’t wait for that one. I have a feeling Hudson has way more going on than we even scratched the surface of here.
Bottom line – pick this book up immediately. Heading to RT this week? This is a perfect way to pass the time on the plane. And, hey, you might even run into Avery while you’re there!
This is the first book I have read by this author and it certainly won't be the last! This book had me intrigued from the start with the quirky heroine Clover and billionaire Sawyer! Those two had me laughing, and so incredibly engrossed in the story I didn't want to put it down and then I didn't want it to end!
Immensely enjoyable read that has you wondering what will happen! Will they really go through with things or tell everyone the truth!
The characters were fantastic, the humour was done so well and the families just made me want to be a part of them!!!
This book is truth in advertising, it really is a hot romantic comedy. It's sexy, steamy, yet sweet and funny. It was my first Avery Flynn story but it won't be my last. "The Negotiator" was a fun, fast read that also had a serious side, dealing with family expectations and how adult children view and interact with their parents, or as Clover puts it, dealing with "serious mommy issues".
Clover and Sawyer are opposites in some ways and similar in others. They both love negotiating, not just big business deals but little things and even their sex life. Some of their negotiations are pretty funny, but also quite hot. Neither one is a quitter though their approaches may be unconventional, and certainly different form each other. I had fun watching their relationship change and grow and seeing them deal with each other and their families and their goals in life. I was less thrilled with the manipulations of Sawyer's family, even if it was for his own good. Granted, we might not have a story without their manipulations but I wish they'd been more honest and less devious. And there was a completely unnecessary epilogue, gah. I'm just trying to pretend it didn't happen. But then I'm not a fan of epilogues, less so when they're set several years in the future.
Although Sawyer could be snarly, and devious like the rest of his family, he was also a big softy. Oh, and he had a habit of talking to his penis, lol. He also had a good sense of humor, even during sex.
"What?" He snorted. "You want me to just lie here and be your breathing dildo?"
"The Negotiator" was a fun, steamy romance that made me smile, sigh, and even laugh. I rooted for Sawyer and Clover to achieve their dreams and to have an HEA. It was a fun way to spend several hours.
I love Avery Flynn’s books, and the Negotiator is a great example of why I love them so, so much. Take a cranky, crabby, workaholic boss Sawyer Carlyle. Then add his tointimidating mother, and a younger brother who decides to solve big brother’s mommy issues by taking an ad out in the paper for a buffer.
Sawyer ends up with a woman who tells his mother off and is the complete opposite of his type, but you know what they say. I positively loved Clover Lee and thought she was a wonderful foil for Sawyer, she helped him to let loose and see what was really important.
This was just a wonderful Rom-com that’s so uplifting and the sex scenes were out of this world!
5 Stars
This was my first book by Avery Flynn. I was not disappointed. The book was great from beginning to end...and that epilogue...is there a Hudson book in the works...lord let's hope so.
Sawyer's brother's...buffer ad to get their widowed mommy off the marry off Sawyer track she's barreling down, takes an interesting turn that has him fake engaged to Clover. He's a workaholic and she's a no nonsense and snarky adventure-seeker. Opposites attract and sparks fly.
Great romantic comedy that had me laughing in all the right places. Great read!
I enjoyed this one. One of my favorite things about this book is watching Clover bring Sawyer out of his workaholic world. Then in turn watching Sawyer give Clover a landing spot in her spontaneous world. Soon this business engagement starts to feel all too real. The arrangement is also an eye opener for Sawyer's family. Some things they have to work out. I laughed a lot while reading this book. I love a book with a good amount of humor and I know a book by Avery Flynn will deliver.
I always know I’m in for a treat when I’m about to read an Avery Flynn book and The Negotiator was no exception! From the fake engagement to the non-stop negotiating, Sawyer and Clover could bring both the heat and the humor…as well as some heart-felt moments.
Sawyer can’t see past his desk and has no interest in any of the socialites his mother keeps trying to push on him. He’s no stranger to a beautiful woman, but when it comes to priorities, his first and only one is the family business. When a brotherly prank throws Clover in his path and she quickly proves she has what it takes to keep his mother at bay, having a personal buffer not only sounds like hitting the lottery, Sawyer can’t help but up the ante and go all in – why not make it a fake engagement!
Clover is such a hoot. She has a ton of life experience, travelling and working in so many different places. This “personal buffer” job is just what she needs to fund her next adventure. And although she’s not 100% sure the fake engagement is going to work, if this job is a means to her end then she’s all in…especially when she out-negotiates the negotiator with her list of rules – including the hands-off mandate. Of course, the best part of being a good negotiator…is knowing when you might need to renegotiate things!
There was no denying Sawyer and Clover’s attraction to one another and I loved the fact that they both pretty much owned it. Not a lot of drama for these two to renegotiate things to remove that hands-off mandate, too bad they couldn’t negotiate with their own hearts to stay out of things! Even though the chemistry was off the charts, these two always seemed to be out of synch with each other with what was going on in their hearts and in their heads. As much fun as it was to watch these two face off with each other, it was also a bit heart-breaking to see them not trust in each other enough or them as a couple enough to realize that the “fake” in their engagement was the only thing that was fake.
I also enjoyed all the other characters that are woven into the story. From Sawyer’s mother who may come off like a cold-hearted socialite just looking to have her first born married, to his brother who is hiding something beneath that cavalier and easy-going attitude, there is such a deep caring and family bond that the Carlyle’s share. Clover’s best friend Daphne kept her real, and I loved how watching her family helped give a greater understanding to just who Clover is and why she acts the way she does.
The characters were well developed and even though the plot was fairly straight-forward, the emotional complexity of the characters offered a few twists and turns along the way to keep things interesting and the characters evolving. In typical Avery Flynn fashion, we are treated to sass, snark, and a whole lot of fun interactions between not only Sawyer and Clover, but the entire cast of characters. And of course, there’s nothing better when the heat brings some humor along with it as well! It got a bit angsty towards the end, but what fun would it be not to have the set-up for a grand gesture…especially when it can be done Avery Flynn style!
This one is worth checking out…and I’m looking forward to reading about Sawyer’s brother next!
I can't believe this is my first Avery Flynn book, where has she been hiding ...
This is a book about opposites and as the saying goes quite often "opposites attract " and that's exactly what happens in this hilarious rom-com.
Clover Lee has applied to be a buffer for Sawyer Carlyle, she is hired to stop his mother sending him eligible women after all he is very happy being single, he has no time for relationships well that was until Clover came into his life and messed up his routine. Clover is so different to any other women he has met she is not afraid of his mother, she loves flea markets and her ideal day is renovating a treasure picked up from a local flea market .....
The chemistry between these two is apparent from the very start and Clover's quirky talk out loud moments are just hilarious but what I really loved about this book was the storyline, two people learning about each other, growing into friends and becoming lovers. Avery Flynn certainly knows how to write a perfect rom-com giving you just the right amours of humour, lust, love and conflict.
This was a perfect way to be introduced to a new author and I will be looking at all of her other books.
4.5 stars
The Negotiator was such a good read.
I loved the storyline, the characters Sawyer and Clover were fun, sweet, quirky, passionate and watching their relationship develop kept me turning the pages, loved them!
Sawyer and Clover were both such wonderful and entertaining characters.
They made me laugh, they made me sad, they touched my soul with their honesty and heart and they frustrated me with their stubbornness.
These two were total opposites but the more time they spent together the more they found they enjoyed being in each others world.
And did I mention how hot these two were?
Sawyer and Clover had amazing chemistry and boy oh boy did they make my iPad sizzle *fans self*
Another plus was how much I enjoyed the secondary characters, they each added to the storyline and for me it was an added bonus.
Overall, The Negotiator is a smart, fun and very entertaining read that will not disappoint, I highly recommend it.
Avery Flynn is a talented author who once again has given us a well written storyline that will bring out all the feels and leave you well satisfied and eagerly awaiting her next book release.
