One of the better books I read, this is a real treat for the imagination. I have purchased it for my son and I think I will also buy a copy for my nephew.
This book makes for a great intersection of science and art, especially with the mechanical astronaut stuff. Kids would love to be able to interract a bit with the oh so inaccessible outer space stuff.
A very informative and explicative one. I enjoy it a lot, even when I'm complete dumb in drawning
I did not enjoy this book. I felt it was basically a tracing book that did not teach much skill or teach me anything about the space program. I felt the drawings did not help me much to get to the next level of drawing and would have appreciated more hints and tips
I am definitely not a good drawer - no matter how hard I try, I cannot draw an astronaut even when I follow the instructions in this book. Perhaps you need to have some drawing skills to get it right. So if you are good at drawing then this book might be for you. I'll be over here, drawing stick figure astronauts.
This "Draw 50," is definitely more complex than some of the other ones I have seen. It still breaks things down into easier steps, but some of the drawings are quite detailed by the last step and in my opinion, there wasn't enough breakdown in certain cases. If this is a learn to draw book, then one should not necessarily expect that everyone who picks it up is going to be as advanced as the artist who created the tutorial drawings and I felt some of them made quite a large leap from beginning stages to finished drawing.
Still, this book is fun and original and most of the drawings in it look like they would be manageable for those who have limited artistic practise. I liked the way the art looked in the finished stages and was impressed by length of the book. This would be fun for anyone interested in space and also interested in drawing.
I'd buy this book for friends or family that wanted to learn to draw better.
This review is based on a complementary copy from the publisher, provided through Netgalley. All opinions are my own.
I have always loved How To Draw Books. This one was great! It has easy to follow steps as well as great illustrations. I would recommend this as a great gift to any classroom/art teacher as well as to anyone who enjoys sketching at home. It will appeal to any one of any age. 5 Stars from me.~
I started art journaling classes and was looking for ways to improve my doodling and drawing skills. Though this book offers a great guide, it may be a bit too advanced for me at this point.
These books have some really interesting step-by-step drawings, but I found them a bit dull because of the lack of text and variation. They could be useful for children, to practice starting with geometrical figures and adding details, but on the other hand the result shown in the book is way too detailed for kids. They don't allow much space for imagination either, since all 50 drawings have the same format, a 6 steps guide with no place for alteration, but as the introduction says, mimicry is a prerequisite for creativity. With the guide of a parent or teacher these can stablish the bases for some fun drawings!
