This was my first try at MC adult books and after reading has discovered it's not my thing. Not fault of the author, just not for me.

Apparently I'm the odd one out, but I couldn't get into this book. It was far less about an MC life than I expected. I found it to be slow and boring.

Title: Rebel Custody
Author: Sarah Hawthorne

4 unexpected stars

I had the chance the first book in the series, and opening that was interesting but still left me hoping for so much more from Sarah Hawthorne. I was moe than a little curious to find out how and where she'd take the second instalment in her Demon Horde series and I must say that it was more well received for myself - meaning that it flowed better, it held more drama to keep me captivated and at the same time it still allowed me to appreciate the first book once again because of the familiarity of who some of the members are. That being said, it can easily be read as a standalone, which often in MC romances you find that you're missing some bits and pieces of you don't read the entire series, something I readily appreciated with Rebel Custody.

4 breath taking dreams

While completely different from the first, this book held some of the things that I really enjoyed from the first, the angst and the emotional pull between the leading characters, Skeeter and Miri, which helped me connect better with them in the long run. It was also the type of story that made me want to read more, to find out (even if it's not available yet) whose story we'd get to read next, because if there's one thing I've come to like about this series, it's the unexpectedness of the Demon Horde members, so it's anybody's guess as to who will get their story next.

Rebel Custody is about Miriam and Skeeter. Skeeter found out he has a son and is being blackmailed for a load of money to get him back. Skeeter will do anything to keep his son safe, even go through the law to get him. That’s how he meets Miriam. Miriam has had a sheltered and safe upbringing. Meeting Skeeter turns her whole world upside down. Despite Miriam having a boyfriend Miriam knows he isn’t the one after she meets Skeeter. He’s alpha and treats Miriam like she’s the most beautiful woman in the world. His love for his son makes her fall hard and fast for him.

Rebel Custody was alright. I was kind of disappointed in the characters and the story was waaay too predictable for me. I enjoyed the story, but it wasn’t all that and a brownie. If you enjoy biker stories Rebel Custody would be an alright one.

Skeeter left Louisiana and never looked back. Imagine his surprise when a former friend shows up with a six-year-old boy claiming that the child is his son, and wanting $40K.

Jean Luc Devaneaux is a member of the Demon Horde and usually does everything outside the law, but he wants to do this right so there is no one who can take his son from him again. Enter Miri. The uptight daughter of the club's attorney. She's a stickler for doing things by the book and sometimes that just doesn't work for the Demon Horde.

Miri likes Jean Luc and sympathizes with his situation which leads her to go outside of her comfort zone in order to help him. Jean Luc likes Miri's sense of self and ability to put others before herself and the fact that she seems to care for his son as well.

I love this series and can't wait to read the next book.

This is book two in the series but can definitely be read as a standalone. This is an intriguing story and I love the twist at the end that has you falling even further in love with the characters! What I didn’t love is that though it’s labeled as an MC romance, there really isn’t much MC life at all – I found that disappointing.

Skeeter is a bad ass biker who lives for his MC… until someone from his past shows up looking for child support for a kid he never even knew existed. The kid’s mom passed away years prior and the uncle has been taking care of the kid and wants payment for having done so. Skeeter seeks help with the club’s lawyer, who refers Skeeter to his daughter, Miri. Miri is a family lawyer who spends the majority of her time working. She’s very judgmental of Skeeter at first, but when the two have to pose as a couple to get closer to Skeeter’s kiddo, their relationship starts to fade from fake and into more real.

I really enjoyed that though this story has a somewhat serious storyline, it does not lack humor and had me laughing out loud on more than one occasion. The ending was my favorite part, it has a twist that I didn’t have figured out ahead of time and I love when an author is able to surprise me with something like that. Looking forward to where the author takes the next book in this series… hoping it’s more MC based!

One Scorching Explosive Ride
So let me start by saying that I was very excited to see that Skeeter got a story. I loved him Enforcer’s Price and knew I wanted more of him.
After reading Enforcer’s Price by Sarah Hawthorne her Debut Novel I knew I was going to be hooked, and hooked I am. I absolutely loved Skeeter’s Story. The characters are well developed the plot was dark and gritty just what I expect in an MC Novel. I hope we get more dark and gritty novels set in the amazing world full of outlaw biker’s. “Rebel Custody” is an outrageously outstanding, seductive and suspenseful ride! The push, the pull, the roar and the power of the soul! One that you can’t ride away from!

Brotherhood is what Skeeter bleeds and all that he knows since returning home from serving 10 years in the service, and to have someone from his past showing up and claiming Skeeter is a father really throws his life upside down. He knows one thing though he will do whatever it takes to get his son.

Miri is an attorney at her father’s law firm after doing everything she was never expected to do she decides she wants to do something for herself even if it means she has to face her father and tell him what she wants for herself and not do what he wants her to do with her life.
Together Skeeter and Miri’s story his explosive and full of obstacles that involve self-doubt on both sides, but the chemistry between the two is scorching hot and undeniable. Even if they try and fight it.

This story is full of raw gritty emotion and action. The Demon Horde Series is slowly becoming one of my faves and I am looking forward to more stories with the brothers of the Demon Horde MC.

I am a huge MC fan and I have read various types of this genre so with that being said this MC is on the softer side which is great for those of you who are not into the down and dirty. Jean Luc is still a good looking alpha male and his love interest is a smart, successful, strong woman. Miri is a lawyer who is trying to help Jean Luc gain custody of a son he never knew he had. How do a lawyer and a law breaking biker combine their worlds and if they do is it anything that can stand the test of time? So, if you are a MC fan and like the lighter version of these books, Rebel Custody is a book for you.

I received this ARC from NetGalley for a freely given and honest review.

This is the second book in the series but can be read as a stand-alone. Skeeter learns that he has a son and will do whatever he can to protect him. He goes to Miriam an attorney for help in getting custody, but the attraction between them is undeniable. This is a fast paced read with lots of suspense and drama I really liked the characters as well as the story. Looking forward to more in the series.

Rebel Custody was my first Sarah Hawthorne read, and it’s certainly left me eager to read more of her work. Despite being the second book in Demon Horde series, this one works perfectly fine as a standalone read. It has now left me wanting to read the first book, if only I can find out all the details of characters I was introduced to in this one.

Rebel Custody offers all you can expect from a wonderful motorcycle club read. I’ll admit that I haven’t read as many as other fans, but I am trying to amend that. I love the dynamics of such reads, I always find myself pulled into the way of life. Despite having read fewer than some motorcycle club fans, I still know enough to say this delivers on all aspects. In fact, the way in which the motorcycle club aspect of the story is so wonderfully interwoven with the drama you often see in more general contemporary reads leaves me believing this is one of my favourite books I’ve read in the genre. It’s no surprise that I find myself so eager to read more books by the author.

Offering us the great dynamics of any motorcycle club, we’re introduced to a cast of hard as nail males. I fell in love with the club so quickly, and I cannot wait to read more about them. They’re tough and yet we get to see their softer sides as well. It’s exactly what you want in such reads: men who will do anything for them women, and yet their emotional side also packs a punch. It truly is a thing of beauty. The fact that there is so much drama mixed in with the story makes this one all the more powerful.

You see, it’s not merely a story of finding love. This one also kicks a powerful punch in regards to parenthood. I find such stories can often be a case of hit or miss – and with this one, it’s certainly a hit. There’s so much emotion to be found, and that’s the most important aspect of a story that includes children. The children need to be real characters, you need to fall in love with the children in the say way that you love the adults, and this one does that. I spent the entire book hoping for the best in regards to this element of the story.

As much as I loved the powerful punch of parenthood, it was the romance that left me reading this one in a single sitting. It was so addictive, I couldn’t pull myself away. There were a couple of cliché moments, but as a whole it was wonderful. There was such deep emotion to be experienced, and I found myself rooting for their love throughout. Honestly, it was a fabulous romance to read. You go through so many different emotional stages – from laughter to heartbreak – and I loved it.

A truly emotional read, one that has left me excited to read more from the author.

I love MC romances. The roughness mixed with the gentleness, the hardness with the softness. The alpha males, strong females, gritty backdrops, raw dialogue. So many reasons.
The lawyer/client angle was new for me. It added a new level to the conflict. Good girl with biker/lawyer with client. So many possibilities.
Jean Luc aka Skeeter handled the fatherhood news pretty well, especially considering his association with the brotherhood. His reaction did show his loyalty, and I was anxious for him to began the task of taking care of his son. Hawthorne kept it real by giving Skeeter insecurities, and that made it that much better. He wasn’t a pillar of society by any means, but he wasn’t a bad person either. Sounds strange, I know, but trust me. You’ll like him.
Miri was looking for something. She had been for a while, she just didn’t know what until she met Skeeter. I almost fell in the floor when they met. It was hilarious. I hadn’t expected it at all, and I love some surprises.
I want to go out for girls’ night with Miri’s mom. She was something else. I liked her carefree, yet caring attitude and protectiveness over Miri. Her dad’s reaction wasn’t off the mark of what I expected, but he did surprise me as well.
I must admit, I did raise a brow on one of the twists. I’m still not sure how I feel about it. I didn’t hate it, but I did question it’s purpose. In regards to another part of the story, I have a thing about misunderstandings that can be resolved simply by one character listening. I was glad it took a turn with the whole car thing in order to get rid of the cliché. It was a tad much, but acceptable. I didn’t quite understand why Skeeter played hard-to-get in one part. It’s like that was written simply to add pages to the story. I didn’t get it.
Nonetheless, it was a pretty good story.

An ex-miltary biker with a Cajun accent and a cute little red headed kid might become my favorite combination. Plus, he had a sexy French name, Jean Luc Devaneaux. I can't wait to read more about this club and the crazy kick-ass women who take them.

Thanks Netgalley

Entangled webs are woven as an MC takes on a members past they never knew about. When danger gets too close, will his brothers be able to keep his kid ... and his woman ... safe? Not a super raw MC story, but very enjoyable none the less. There is talk of a lot of deep deception and criminal activity, but it's not riddled into the story very much. I liked Jean Luc and Miri together!

Demon Horde Motorcycle Club member Jean Luc "Skeeter" Devaneaux isn't worried about breaking the law, but he isn't down for being blackmailed himself ... and about a kid he never even knew he had to top it all off! The club hooks him up with Family Law attorney Miriam Englestein to work her magic on figuring out how to get his son away from the "old friend" hanging him over his head.

Miri doesn't normally associate with her dad's handling of club business, but she can't resist helping Jean Luc when she hears his story ... even if it means playing his old lady to get info out of his blackmailer. When the lines between personal and professional get crossed, will they still be able to work out a solution that puts his son in his custody? And when the good girl and the bad boy actually admit their feelings for each other, is there a way to make their totally different worlds mesh into a future?

Jean Luc / Skeeter is swoon worthy, this badass biker finds out he has a son that he never knew about and does everything in his power to gain custody of him. LOVE THAT! He didn't take the easy way out and let things stay as they are, he is doing the right thing and in doing that he will hopefully give his son the best life possible. Little did he know that in his pursue to gain his son he will also find his true love.

Mari figured that in practicing family law she wouldn't interact with her fathers clients but when one of the Demon Horde bikers is in need of a family lawyer she has to take the case. When Mari first meets Jean Luc there is a bit of a misunderstanding that had me in stitches.

This story can be read as a standalone but in order to fully understand the "Patching In" you will want to read Enforcers Price first.

I totally got excited when I realized our hero is from south Louisiana since that is where I’m from…you can take the girl out of Louisiana, but you can’t take Louisiana out of the girl. In fact, I have family who live in the city Skeeter was from, so reading the Cajun French and imagining his accent was NO PROBLEM 🙂 I have to admit though, I’ve never met anyone who’s name is Jean Luc LOL
I loved the chemistry between Skeeter and Miri, but I found this really slow moving. Lots of back and forth between them. They were like awkward teenagers going on their first date ever. They weren’t sure what to say, whether or not to touch, blurting questions and then not understanding the answer since it wasn’t presented the way it should have. You get the picture. Once we got over all that (and it took a while), I loved this!

Rebel Custody is a lighter motorcycle club romance. It is not quite as erotic and dark as a lot of them, and it is a nice change of pace. Skeeter has just fond out he has a son that he never knew about, and he’s being blackmailed into paying to have custody of him. He seeks Miri—a straight-laced family law attorney—to help him.

Miri has no love for outlaw motorcycle clubs, but she is instantly drawn to Skeeter - much to her surprise. She wants to help him, and she’s attracted to him. As they work to get Skeeter’s son back, the two become closer and cannot deny the sexual. Tension that has been building since they met. Skeeter can’t imagine that someone like Miri might be willing to be with him, but he seizes the opportunity when he gets the hint that she likes him.

Skeeter sort of stole the show for me, because he was so sweet with his son. He is this rough biker with a soft heart. Rebel Custody has lawless, dirty bikers with a heartfelt love story making it a fun and sexy motorcycle club romance.

'Rebel Custody' by Sarah Hawthorne is book Two in the "Demon Horde" series. This is the story of Miriam Englestein "Miri" and Jean Luc Devameaix "Skeeter".
I have not yet read the previous book so for me this was a standalone book.
Skeeter up and left home around 19 years of age to join the military and never looked back. Now in the present day a person from his past comes forward to get money off of him for child support. It turns out that his old girlfriend had a baby and now she has past away a few years ago and the man that has been taking care of his son wants money for it.
Skeeter goes to see the child and finds that it sure looks like him and he wants custody.
Miri is referred to him as someone to help who could help get custody. Miri is a lawyer who is so different than what Skeeter is used to in women.
They decided to pose has boyfriend and girlfriend to get to know the child. In addition, this will help them get information that may help their case.
This was an exciting romance read!

Jean Luc needs a lawyer. He just found out he has a son and wants to get sole custody of him. But Jean Luc, aka Skeeter, is in the Demon Hoard Motorcycle Club (MC) and it's tricky finding a lawyer who would understand the situation. Miriam is a family practice lawyer assigned to the case by her father, a defense attorney on retainer with the Demon Hoard MC. Opposites attract especially in Miri and Skeeter's case but their lifestyles are so different that they have to overcome a lot of obstacles. Good MC romance with lots of red hot moments.

Awesome read. Not a down and dirty MC read but a great romance. The MC is more background than anything. It's very well done and I really enjoyed Jean Luc and Miri.

Jean Luc aka Skeeter learns he has a son. Not that the boy's mother ever told him. He finds out when his son's stepfather tries to blackmail money out of Skeeter. Since the boy looks just like Skeeter he has no doubt the kid is his so he goes to see attorney Miriam Englestein to find out what his rights are. "Miri" is the daughter of the clubs attorney and she really wants nothing to do with the club but there is something about Jean Luc that she can't turn away.

Definitely a book I would recommend.
