While I didn't enjoy the first book as much as I wanted to, the sequel had some great improvement on both the story and the characters.. Curiosity and The Hounds of Arawn was a vast improvement on the curious tale of Gabrielle and be far the best book in the trilogy.
After the first one, which I personally didn't enjoy all that much, this was a great continuation! It had me excited for the next chapter whereas I had to drag myself to it from time to time in with the fiirst one. The story is gripping and interesting and a great improvement from vol 1. Once again I'm proven that I don't only like the time travel in Doctor Who ^^
The setting in france was interesting and even if you're not a big historical fan, this is a positive example of a historical setting.
Looking forward to the next book!
Thank you for the opportunity to read this book however, I disliked what I read of the first book, and will not be reading the rest of the series. I have not rated or reviewed it.
Curiosity And The Hounds Of Arawn by Zachary Paul Chopchinski.
Join Gabrielle as she ventures through her second life in her curious journey. With a new respect for what she's doing, Gabrielle has found herself living in the Palace of Versailles. However, things in her new life aren't all luxury and prestige as there is a revolution afoot. When Gabrielle finds companionship in Morrigan - a fellow traveler - she discovers that there is more to this venture than she originally thought.
Another fantastic read with brilliant characters. I can't wait for the next one. Love Gabrielle. All the adventures she has. But I didn't like the Hounds. They were vicious. This is a must read and I would highly recommend this book. 5*. Netgalley and weaponry co-op.
This book still had a slow-ish start, but it also had more action. In the very beginning, something big was happening and while it didn't make sense at the time, it became more clear as the story continued and evolved to that part. It also does a better job of answering some of the questions that the readers are left with between this story and the last. I will definitely be continuing on to the next book.
In this second addition to the Gabrielle series we follow Gabrielle into the world of Marie Antoinette and the Palace of Versailles. In this life Gabrielle is a maid in the palace during the time period towards the end of Marie Antoinette's reign--the time where tension is mounting and revolution is being called for. Gabrielle is forced to observe, or listen, to the story the bracelet wants her to know but this time Gabrielle is armed with a bit more information.
There is a purpose to her being taken from life to life--setting people, well, their spirits free. Also, in this life Gabrielle knows that she is not alone. There is another traveler, Morrigan, but neither can speak of what they are doing. Though, knowing that she is not alone is comfort enough. Comfort and security become the same thing when Gabrielle realizes the face of evil and the cause of the demonic, red eyed people in Arawn, a demonic force in his own right.
What does Gabrielle have that Arawn wants? What are the rules to the game that she and Morrigan are playing jumping through time?
Again, this young adult book is violent and graphic in the descriptions of the fights that occur as well as the forces of evil at work.
I didn't enjoy this as much as the first one :/ Firstly the book is FULL of spelling errors which was rather distracting. It also seemed to lack the direction and the pace of the previous, it jumped about ALOT without any real direction. If this is the first draft then great it's got great promise. If it's the final book it really doesn't do it for me sorry!
I really enjoyed this! I loved how it left off where the first one ended, and we went to a new places with new questions.
