I really enjoyed reading this book and found all of the characters interesting in their own way. I particularly liked Chemal for his funny comments and caring nature. This book tells a lovely story of struggle, family and love. I think it also makes you think about what family means and if you were faced with a potential death sentence what would you do? I like that all the characters have their own mini story running throughout and there are some light hearted moments mixed in with the serious times. All in all this was a good read :)
An easy to read story about family, love, betrayal and realising your own mortality. This story deals with love and loss and trying to do the best for our children. It is also about the importance of forgiveness. It is definitely worth reading. It is a thoughtfully written book that tackles many issues beautifully.
Funny yet heartbreaking, this novel tells the story of a family going through life with the range of issues---unsettling family problems, potential on of business and serious illness. The writing style was easy, but the simple yet complex characters touch the reader's heartstrings. A most satisfying read including laughter and tears. Thank you for the opportunity to have read this advance copy--I loved it!
I set this aside after a few pages. The writing style just did not work for me.
This book has everything I love: Scotland, America, unlikely friendships. Even a road-trip. I love weird family dynamics, and I wanted a longer story. Some of the Scots word usage was off, but that didn't take away from my general enjoyment of the story. Four stars. I want to know where the characters go from here!
