Home Run!!!

WOW where to begin this story has it all the emotions rolled up in one and delivered a HOME RUN. Heidi McLaughlin has hit the ball out of the park with this one. I absolutely loved this story! It was a very intense read and gripped me from the very beginning. The connection between Travis and Saylor was so believable and intense, the story itself was an emotional downpour that left you feeling tight in the chest and longing for an HEA. I fell in love and didn't want it to end. I am going back to grab the first 2 installments because I absolutely loved the secondary characters as much as I did Travis and Saylor and I need their stories. Great Job!

I really enjoyed this book. I thought the heroine came across as a smart woman who was making good decisions, which is sometimes difficult to say about a romance novel heroine. The hero of the story was immediately likeable and I never doubted him about that other woman. I did think the assault/rape complaint took over the story more than I would have liked. Overall, I liked it and would recommend to others. Thanks for the read!

Grand Slam by Heidi McLaughlin is a sexy, enchanting, and bright light center stage kind of romance that will set hearts soaring. Sports romance can either be a hit or a miss and in this case, Heidi has readers chanting the names of Travis and Saylor as their romance was sizzling and palpable from the start. The sexual energy that was radiating off McLaughlin’s characters kept readers like myself engaged as we witnessed two characters no longer denying their chemistry and feelings for one another as Saylor proves the innocence of the man who has stole her heart. So if you are looking for a story that rounded all the bases when it came to a tangible romance, then this book is for you. It was sweet, beautiful, and lovable.

I loved this book so much!! Travis was the perfect blend of the hot player and a super sweet guy that will play dress up with your five year old daughter. He's just precious in ways that you wouldn't think the "player" could be.

He was determined to get Saylor and he was prepared to work for it and I always appreciate that. There were times when I felt so bad for him and Saylor because they just kept taking hit after hit. I just wanted them to make it out happy.

I didn't see the ending coming and I absolutely loved it!

Also, I will never stop gushing about all the Travis/Lucy scenes. They were absolutely everything!!!

Everyone who knows me KNOWS that sports romance is my jam. I love the intensity of the game and the back and forth between the main characters. It's so addicting. That's exactly what we received with Grand Slam. It was sexy and the chemistry between Saylor and Travis was sexy with terrific banter. This was an all around win.

I really loved this story. I felt like that it was so emotional and honest and I could not stop reading. Saylor, a single mother with alot on her plate and Travis the guy who wanted to win the girl. You could feel the emotions coming off the pages. I was obsessed with these characters and their passionate love story. In addition, despite this being a standalone novel in the series, I loved that we could revisit the players from the previous books and enjoy their brotherhood and friendship.

All in all this was an amazing book and I look forward to more from this author in the future! I would like to thank Netgalley and Forever Romance for an advanced copy of this book for an honest review. Bravo! 4 stars! ~Ratula

First I have to say … because it’s what I do (often) .. #TitleWIN !!! When you read this story, the words grand slam will take on a whole other meaning other than a baseball term #TRUST

Both Travis and Saylor have baggage. Baggage that quite frankly could have made this book a much darker read than Heidi McLaughlin made it and I’m glad she didn’t. Their pasts were just dramatic enough to add an edge to their journey but not get all twisty and angsty .. feel me? Anywho, well done! LOL

Grand Slam for me was a very captivating read. It wasn’t just a fluffy romance fiction story. It had depth of emotion and character. The chemistry between them was spot on and their struggle was real and relatable. And let’s not forget Lucy *happy sigh* I really love when kids are in the mix 🙂 This story turned out to be one heck of a grand slam for both Travis and Saylor! <3

Heidi hit the ball out of the park with this one for sure. Her books keep on getting better and better!!

This book was a bit different than the others in the series as it took place in the off season. I am not disappointed though because we had more time for the love story plus a legal drama and I LOVED that.
Travis was the ultimate player on and off the field.
Saylor was a career focused, single mom who ALWAYS put her daughter first.
They don't sound like a good match at all. Unfortunately it looked like the odds were against them from the start. A moment of weekness they shared years ago has had a major impact on her life and he has no clue.
His life was spiraling out of control because of false accusastions. She is the only one who can save him but she cant let herself. There is too much at risk. She also has her own life problems that need her focus.
This couple was so frustrating but by no fault of their own. Life circumstances kept them apart. It made for a riviting story I could not put down. I wanted them together so bad but saw the reasons they couldn't and it made me mad. But it's life and sometimes life sucks!
In the end I smiled through tears as I saw how it played out. Perfectly titled because Heidi hit it out of the park and all the players/characters made their way to a home they never knew they wanted or deserved.
Loving this series and hoping for more!

This is the story of baseball player, Travis and his PR, Saylor. The two of them shared a night of passion a year ago but Saylor ran from her feelings and Travis was left confused. He turned to other women to forget her and it worked for a while until he is accused of rape and needs her help. Saylor was a great heroine. She was strong and sassy with determination to resist Travis. He had other plans. This was his chance to find out what went wrong in the past and convince her that they were meant to be together. This was a sports romance with a little drama thrown in. The story could use a little more romance than angst but I liked it and look forward to more in the series.

I have to first start this review off talking about the cover of this book, I mean come on ladies, is that an awesome cover or what! That alone almost made me want to read this book. Lately I have been on an Author Heidi McLaughlin kick, I have read a couple of her books now.

This story has kind of a second chance romance feel to it. Saylor & Travis spent a drunken night together years ago but since then they have not had any inappropriate contact with each other. What they don’t know is ever since their one night together both of them have wanted a repeat but neither of them have acted on it for different reasons. When one fateful night and some accusations bring them working closely with one another things heat up and feelings come bubbling to the surface.

Travis is definitely not taking no for an answer and Saylor can’t risk losing everything to be with the known ladies man. I loved both of these characters right from the very beginning. Saylor is strong, independent and down to earth and really is trying to do the right thing for her. Travis is a caring and sensitive guy and a little pushy at times but he is just what Saylor needs.

I felt that their love story was sweet and took it’s time developing even though they had a past. I liked that the story flowed well and didn’t over exaggerate the obstacles that were getting in their way. Travis was protective of Saylor and even though he had his reputation I felt like he was a good guy from the beginning.

I enjoyed this story and its characters very much. I certainly had that lovey dovey feeling when I was done reading it.

I can't get enough of Heidi's Boys of Summer series and I think Travis' story is the best yet.

Travis has always been the goof ball, practical joker and manwhore of the Renegades. He's known to be with woman after woman and his past is now called into play when he is accused of something he would never do.

Saylor is Travis' PR and can also help set everything straight with what really happened. But Saylor can't step forward because she has too much on the line... her job and her daughter.

Saylor believes that Travis is innocent, and Travis has a lot to prove to Saylor too. Now that Travis' friends are starting to settle down, he can see himself doing the same but with only one woman. Now he needs to prove to Saylor he can be all that she and her daughter needs, no matter what everyone else around him says.

This book takes a look at the underbelly side of professional sports and always being in the spotlight. Just how much does a person have to give up and how the people around them are affected. Although the subject is a little darker and more serious, the book still has it's lighter moments. Such a great series!

Grand slam is book 3 in the Boys of Summer series.
I am a huge Heidi McLaughlin fan and love everything she's written.
I read and loved the first two books in this series, but I have admit I couldn't wait for Travis's story he's intrigued me from the start.
I could not put this book down! It had heartache, some intrigue. I have to admit I wasn't thrilled with Saylor at first, but loved her towards the end. The fact that Travis had no problem showing his love for Saylor made me fall in love with him more.

Do yourself a favor and one click this book, Heidi has definitely out did herself with Grand Slam and I cannot wait to see what she comes out with next

Alright so Grand Slam is a sport romance but there is not a lot of baseball talk. The whole plot is about the whirlwind roller coaster romance between Travis and his PR, Saylor. And when I say roller coaster I mean lots of drama, ups and downs, super turbulent relationship.

Travis and Saylor’s relationship started a couple years back when they had a one night stand after too many drinks at a party. Travis thought they shared the same attraction and had a great night but the morning after Saylor bolted and has been indifferent with Travis ever since. Travis was confused and hurt but he never got answers or reasons from Saylor. Since then, Travis turned into a man-whore, sleeping his way through half of Boston until he got accused of rape. Travis’ playboy way precedes him so unfortunately to his fans, sponsors, and teammates Travis seems guilty until proven innocent. Saylor was assigned to help clean up Travis’s mess. She believes Travis is innocent. Travis has an alibi but getting his alibi to come forward would be impossible. In the meantime, Travis’s focus isn’t proving his innocence though – he is too busy pursuing Saylor. He never got over Saylor and the feeling is mutual. Saylor is fighting it but Travis is determined to win her heart for good this time. The attraction between Travis and Saylor is undeniable – deep down they care for each other but Saylor has her own set of troubles and she cannot afford to get tangled up with the accused rapist.

I really like Saylor – she is smart, sexy, and strong. I also like Travis and all his alpha male sexiness. He is persistent when it comes to winning Saylor’s heart and he is so sweet with Saylor’s daughter – I adore him for that. However, I have to say I was frustrated that whenever his troubles took turn for the worse, he turns to alcohol resulting in his temper flaring. A couple times, he might have caused more trouble for Saylor. So I did not like the fact that he was not strong for himself or for Saylor, and when shit hit the fan he crumples. That’s his only fault though - I adore the way he is with Saylor and her daughter Lucy. Travis genuinely loves them and takes good care of them. That just melted my heart. I was also hoping for a little more romance and less business between them. Especially at the end, the reasons they got together were like a business transaction – I understand that is the intent of the author though – Saylor and Travis are different and their relationship is anything but conventional. Still it does not change the fact that I am a hopeless romantic so I was hoping for more romance, heart and flowers from them. Honestly though, Grand Slam was a great read – the plot is full of drama which will keep you on your toes and suck you in. Well written - sexy, sweet, low on sport talk and angst which is fine by me.

This is a sweet, light, feel good baseball romance. I enjoyed the characters and the storyline, although there were times, the story didn't feel realistic. The story revolves around Travis Kidd, the left fielder for the Boston Renegades and Saylor Blackwell, his public relations specialist. Travis and Saylor spent a night together two years ago but Saylor immediately knew she made a mistake and promises herself it wIll never happen again.

Travis is an immature party boy who loves to have fun. He loves woman and having a good time but his perfect life changes when a woman makes some allegations against him. He has to defend himself and worries the accusations will hurt his career. Along the way, he starts to reevaluate the way he is living his life and all the women he has been with. Travis finally grows up but he finds it difficult to convince Saylor that he is a changed man and that she can trust him. Saylor is afraid to give up everything and take a chance on Travis and he has to work hard to convince her.

At first, I didn't like Travis. He is selfish and self absorbed but as time goes on, Travis slowly changes and as he does, I found my opinion of him changing, too. I began to admire Travis for not letting all the negativity ruin his life. Instead he makes positive changes and gains a new perspective. Saylor has learned the hard way to never trust anyone. She is strong and independent and has a hard time letting anyone in. She is dedicated her job and her five year old daughter but her daughter is her priority and Saylor is willing to make any sacrifice necessary for her.

This ended up be a really enjoyably read. It started out a little slow for me, but I really got into the book. I was drawn to this book because Travis is a baseball player. I couldn't pass up the opportunity to read this one. I just loved the interaction between Travis and little Lucy. Some adorable and heart melting moments. This book hits home how much damage words can inflict not just emotionally, but in Travis' case for his baseball career. His life is spiraling out of control, but having Saylor and Lucy in it makes it a little more bearable. Saylor is struggling and juggling so much in her life and it's about to come to ahead. My heart went out to her because she can fix everything, but in turn she will lose everything. Can Travis and Saylor find their way to their rainbow after the storm?

Grand Slam, was the first title that I have read in the Boys of Summer series, and I believe it can be read as a standalone, although at some point I will probably go back and read the previous title as I really enjoy a sports romance, and Heidi McLaughlin's style of writing.

Travis Kidd has a reputation as a ladies man, which comes back to bite him in the ass!

Saylor is Travis's publicist and this pair have an intense, but believable chemistry. Saylor's behavior at times was a tad frustrating, but quite understandable as the story progressed and more information was revealed regarding her past. Along with Saylor, comes her young daughter Lucy, who is a scene-stealer. I adored the relationship that develops between Lucy and Travis, it's incredibly heartwarming.

Although this book is high in emotion, angst and drama, I quite often found myself laughing out loud at Travis' one liners that were peppered throughout the book. I found Grand Slam to be a thoroughly enjoyable read, quite fast paced and well written.

This book was so good I could not put it down!
A taboo relationship, Saylor knew it was wrong, but Travis is amazing, and he won't let up! The relationship between these two is hot to say the least! Add in her daughter Lucy, and you've got a great team! Follow their story in the great read by Heidi, experience their feelings while your reading their story! If I could give this more than 5 stars I would so for now it's 5++++++++!!! Grab your copy now, and enjoy the ride!

This was a grand slam for Heidi McLaughlin…probably one of my favorites by her, and I have read just about everything she has written. The synopsis doesn’t even begin to scratch the surface of the book or the characters. Grand Slam deserves a lot more than 5 stars!!!!!

From the very first page, the story took off, and had my attention the entire time. I was up well into the night reading this one. Travis and Saylor are incredibly complex characters. With each chapter, more is revealed about them. The two shared an unforgettable night with one another years before, and they have tried to forget it, but they can’t. Travis is completely off-limits to Saylor. She works for the PR company that represents him, and affairs with their clients are strictly prohibited. Saylor cannot lose her job as she is a single parent. They have tried to avoid one another, but that changes when he sees her in the same bar he is in. He knows something is wrong, but of course, she doesn’t let him in. Both don’t realize that each will become the other’s savior.

Travis finds himself in a position that threatens everything, his career and his personal life. Saylor is doing whatever it takes to get him out of the horrible situation. As she is trying to save him, she is also trying to save herself. Her daughter’s father has decided he wants custody of her, and Saylor can’t lose Lucy!

As I mentioned earlier, with each chapter, I saw more depth to each character. Travis isn’t just a player. As he spends more time with Lucy, he melted my heart even more. He loved her as much as he loved Saylor, and he would do whatever it took to keep both of them. I love a man that loves his family!!! And, his sense of humor made him more irresistible. I came to love Saylor as much as I did Travis. She has worked incredibly hard to make a good life for her and her daughter. It hasn’t always been easy, but she has done whatever it took to give Lucy a normal life. She is certainly someone I would want in my corner if I was in trouble. And, I save the best for last, sweet Lucy. She is a precocious, sweet princess who melted my heart, just like she did to Travis.

McLaughlin included a lot about the game of baseball, but she also included the sometimes dark side that athletes face….women who attempt take advantage of their wealth. She also illustrated how quickly the public can turn on celebrities. I think the saddest part was how some members of a team can turn on others if it affects them negatively. However, most importantly, this is a book that also illustrates loyalty and fighting for those you love. Outstanding read!!!!

Picked this one up planning to read a chapter or two and ended up devouring the whole thing.

Travis *sigh* Iove this guy and my heart hurt for all he went through.

Saylor is quite frustrating character. I could see her POV but I disagreed with some of her choices.

The story is great, plenty of stuff going on to keep you flipping the pages.

The only reason I dropped .5 of a star was I felt the end was kind of rushed. I would have liked some things cleared up.

Heidi never fails to deliver for me and this book is certainly no exception.
