I really liked Travis. I liked Saylor. I loved Lucy. The storyline went a little too long. I get the whole accusations but after awhile it was ok enough. I wish we got a little more after the court was over. I wanted to fall for the book hard as I had for the other two.

I liked this one. It’s got a bit of everything. The scandal is probably something we’ve all seen in the news. It’s really sad how life can change over night with one tiny lie. I’ve said it a thousand times kids make these stories better! Without that sweet Lucy I wouldn’t have loved the other characters as much!

This book was decent but it fell a bit flat towards the end but still an enjoyable read!

When I read sports romance books it's usually about hockey, so reading a book with a baseball player was fairly new to me. I liked it. I liked the characters. I even really liked the storyline. This really shouldn't be a surprise considering other books written by Ms. McLaughlin. I recommend reading if you want a feel good romance.

Thanks to Netgalley for the ARC.

Well, after the last Boys of Summer book, I was a little gun-shy when Grand Slam came through to my Kindle. I hoped that I could get into this one more than the last. And, hoping paid off because the Heidi McLaughlin that I was so used to reading was back. Travis and Saylor’s story was everything that I hoped it would be … and then some.

Wow … that’s all I can say about Travis. The left fielder has everything a man could want except the woman who has been haunting his dreams. He can’t understand why, after one night with him, she just blows him off. He knows she felt something and that she’s hiding something. Now, she can either be his salvation or his down-fall. She knows the truth. Why won’t she come forward and clear his name?
Saylor has her reasons for avoiding what she could have with Travis. Her daughter, her job and now threats from her baby-daddy has her giving herself to Travis and then pushing him away harder than she did the first time. But, when it finally comes down to it, she comes clean and, now, Travis knows everything. He tells her that he will fix things but she has no idea if his plan will work or if she’s ready for what he’s offering.

I. Loved. This. Book! It was fast and interesting. It had heart-ache and intrigue. I still don’t know why the “bitch” did what she did but I hope she got her come-uppance. Saylor put me off a little since she wouldn’t come clean with Travis but, in the end, I had her back and so did Travis. I loved that Travis wore his heart on his sleeve and poured himself into getting Saylor to acknowledge her feelings for him. Lucy made this story so believable and fun. She was sweet and knew just who and what she wanted. She wrapped me around her little finger.

Now, the remaining Boys of Summer need to find the woman that will fulfill their lives so they will stop making fun of the boys that are living their happily ever after. And, there are three players who don’t deserve to even be mentioned in any further stories … just saying.

I think this is my favorite out of the three books in this series. I loved Saylor and her strength. I thoroughly enjoyed the immense growth for both Saylor and most definitely for Travis. The plot almost had a bit of a suspenseful vibe to it and I really liked that. It was a unique twist to this kind of plot and it made it hard to put the book down. The characters were fun and highly intriguing. I just can't get over how her characters are so real and their reactions felt real. This is one of those times when a dash of reality in a book made it so much better for me and I ate up every drop. I highly recommend it.

So I've read all of Heidi McLaughlin's books and I honestly think that Grand Slam was one of my absolute favorites. It was captivating and intense. Charming and romantic. Funny and witty. It was all this romantic goodness while dealing with a horrifying topic. I thought the storyline was incredible.

Travis is a baseball star and bit of a man whore. However, he's also lonely.  He wishes that the one women he desperately wants, Saylor, would allow him to show her who he really is but their relationship is crazy complicated.

Saylor works for his PR company and the one rule of the business is 'no dating our clients'. So no matter how attracted she is to him or how strong the connection is that she feels towards Travis - she has to put her child's needs (and thus her job) first. The one time she didn't it, her decision was the catalyst to events that almost destroyed her career.

However, Saylor and Travis cannot fight their feelings - no matter how much they need to.  And thank goodness!!  These two together are beyond amazing.  They leave you this ooey-gooey mess of happiness.  I loved getting to know them and experiencing them falling in love.

Yet, I think the best part of Grand Slam is that their romance and courtship was engaging and addictive alone (I could spend days with these two) but the author layered their love story with two very intense and captivating subplots. Both of which are overwhelming and realistic but without any easy answers to solve them.  It's what makes the book a must read recommendation from me.

Grand Slam was about so much than Saylor and Travis falling in love.  Their journey was about finding your soulmate and realizing that you're way better as a team that individuals. It's a courtship filled with overwhelming hurdles and bumps in the road. It was the most enchanting and romantic books I've read. I was completely smitten by duo and I cannot suggest meeting then enough. Get your copy today!

Of all the Boys of Summers series, Grand Slam by Heidi McLaughlin is by far my favorite. The drama and angst combined with the likable characters made this one a delightful read.

Travis Kidd, the starting left fielder for the Renegades, has always desired Saylor, but she has kept him at a distance. Always the jokester and woman-loving player, he wasn’t someone she could risk her future on, but throughout the story, readers get to see the softer more lovable man who really only wants a family and people to love. Saylor is a single mom with a lot on her plate. Readers are going to absolutely respect her desire to provide for her child and sacrifice for her happiness. Whenever these two are together, they cannot resist their attraction for each other, and readers won’t want them to resist it either.

There is so much going on in this plot. There is the obvious forbidden nature of their relationship with her being a manager and him being a baseball player. On top of that, they both have legal issues that are plaguing them, setting up yet another obstacle to prevent these two from being together. Even with the many obstacles between them, these two fight to overcome them. With the amount of pressure they are under, the conflict explodes in an expected manner, and readers will love Travis’s solution to the issues.

If you are looking for an angsty, drama filled romance, than Grand Slam is what you are looking for. The plot and characters will keep you hooked through the whole book!

It is not secret that I have had a love/hate relationship with this series and here is the thing after reading Grand Slam I have no idea why I have not liked the others because I really liked Grand Slam. I think this book whore needs to revisit the previous books to see if my opinion about them will change with a reread. I really think it will, looks like I am scheduling more into my schedule but this time it is rereads.

Okay anyways on to my review of Grand Slam, sorry about that I got off track there for a moment. I love sport themed books, this is no secret and after hockey and football, baseball is my next favorite to read. It could also be because of those pants they wear in real life and I may or may not have drooled a time or a thousand while at games. Also my grandfather loved baseball so the real boys of summer hold a special place in my heart always. Grand Slam was exactly that for me, a grand slam. I can’t say there was anything I had an issue with, and that is rare, even if I rate a book high there is usually a minor issue or two that gets to me but I am searching and searching in my memories and nothing stands out as bad in this book.

Travis and Saylor will have your heart aching, your angst meter on high alert, emotional and then they will have you smiling, falling in love with them, and believing that happily ever after does exist when you find the right person to heal your soul. Add in an adorable little girl and you have a story that you can’t help but fall in love with.

Grand Slam is a book I can easily recommend and made me want to give this series another chance. I think most will love this one more than the previous books.

Heidi McLaughlin tackles a difficult situation with grace and style. This isn’t like the other two where we have more focus on the sport as well as the romance. Here the player goes through a very personal and overwhelmingly emotional experience.
Travis is the guy throughout this series who was lighthearted and a jokester. he loved spending time with woman and in this book that past comes back to hurt him. In this book we see him go through so much. What I love is that even though he had someone who could save him all this pain and suffering he respected her wishes and what could happen to her and he kept her safe. Even at his own expense. What was truly admirable was even after Saylor said some truly horrendous and hurtful things about him he stood tall and wanted to fix things for her and not himself.
travis changed so much in this book. He went from the flirt to the one that became serious and family oriented. He saw what one false accusation can do to himself and how those around him react. He was heartbroken by the fickle ways of some and throughout it all he maintained his innocence and kept his head held high. He had grown in character and strength. I loved his interactions with Lucy and how he put her above everything. She was his ray of sunshine in his bleak days. I also loved how he remained loyal and steadfast to Saylor and her choices even at great personal pain to himself and his career.
Saylor to me at times was too harsh and mean to travis. I get that she was scared but she saw what he was going through and just did nothing because of how it would affect her. His world was falling apart and she didn’t want to rock hers. Oh but she would let him do things with her daughter because it seemed to cheer him up. Yes she was in many precarious situations but some were brought on herself and blaming Travis was wrong. To see Travis be understanding about it all showed what true character he had.
The attraction they had was palpable and had a heartbeat throughout the book. Saylor waffled on what to do about it but Travis showed her that he was worth a shot. It was fun to see the family interaction Travis had with Saylor and her daughter. We got to see the unvarnished travis and how big his heart is.
the story will have you smile and cry for Travis. Your heart breaks with all he is going though in this book but you will smile at how brave and strong he is throughout. YOu also smile at the support his true friends give him. they stand true to him when he needs it the most. Saylor you feel for but you also get angry at because of her actions and inactions. Travis loves her so much and you see that at the end with how forgiving and understanding he was. He was also patient with her and was willing to do everything he could to help her and show her he loved her.
the story is in the POV of Saylor and Travis and this worked beautifully. I loved Travis’s view more because we really got to see the good bad and ugly from him. We saw his emotional and personal journey and how he dealt with things outwardly and inwardly giving us a better understanding of him and who he is.
A wonderful emotional story on love, change and finding where you belong and who you are. Travis will have you feel everything and anything as you are drawn to him and his story and root for him to be vindicated and have a HEA.

4.5 of 5 Stars

I have followed this series from the beginning and true to Heidi's writing style she does a wonderful job of drawing you to her characters. You find yourself invested in these people as you read, wanting to make sure they are loved and taken care of.

Life doesn't always work out the way you think it will, Saylor knows that first hand. She loves her little girl with her whole heart and wouldn't change that part of her life. She works her ass off to make sure Lucy has what she needs but on carefree night has put her in a position to loose everything if she doesn't follow the rules.

Travis has always been the player type, not looking for a relationship and making himself clear in doing so. Saylor is the on that got away, the one he had always wondered if there could be something more, something worth fighting for. When his world comes crashing down and everyone starts to give up on him, he finds himself working closely with Saylor. She believes in him and wants to do everything she can to help him. Could this be his chance?

There is not denying there is chemistry and attraction between them, but will Saylor give in to that attraction? Can she trust that Travis can change is ways? It's not just her she has a daughter to think of as well. When your heart and your head are in constant battle it is hard to do the right thing. If you could help someone out but it could cost you everything, are you willing to give it all up?

I hope this is not the end of the Boys of Summer. I will be watching to see if we get more.

Grand Slam
The Boys of Summer #3
Heidi McLaughlin

Great book by Heidi McLaughlin. I just love sport romances. This was book 3 of her Boys of Summer series.
The main character Travis is a baseball player that has been falsely accused of rape. He falls in love with his publisher, Saylor and her small daughter. But with the backlash from the lies of a woman scorned may screw his opportunities with Saylor.
Thanks NetGalley for the Arc in exchange for my honest review.

I read fast but this book took me several days to finish. I almost put it down a couple times because it was frustrating. The backdrop of a rape case is not really what I want to read in a romance book. The hero came off as a douchebag and I had a hard time believing he wanted to be a father. Plus his use of nipple sniffer and 'gina were ridiculous. Whenever the heroine had a low moment or called the hero out on his behaviors I found myself hoping she would dump him which has never happened to me before. I finished the book but the waiting to say I love you til the epilogue was just ridiculous. I don't think I'll ever continue to read this author

5 big huge stars! McLaughlin once again knocks it outta the park with her sexy boys of summer!
This book gave me all the feels. My heart ached for Saylor and the past that she is still trying to move on from. I was so incredibly angry for Travis and the things that just seemed to pile up on him. And then I was melted into a big ole hormonal mess of a puddle by the relationship that Travis formed with Lucy.
McLaughlin is always a automatic one-click author for me and I have adored this entire series. but Travis and Saylor's story is my favorite. It is full of emotions it grabbed ahold of me from the very beginning and didn't let go. I am still stuck on this story and can't wait to see what McLaughlin brings us next in the world of Boston Renegades Baseball!!!

When I first started the book, I was thinking cocky baseball player who wins the girl. Your typical story. This book was totally the opposite. Travis Kidd is a typical ballplayer, but has his world turned upside down when he is accused of something he didn't do. We see the awful side of fame as his town and teammates turn on him.

Travis has loved Saylor since they hooked up two years ago, but now his timing couldn't be worse, but he wants her in his life. She is what he has been waiting for. Saylor loves her job and her biggest concern in life is her 5 year old daughter. When she is in the wrong place at the wrong time, she could lose everything.

I loved watching Travis with Lucy (Saylor's daughter). He made my heart melt. I ached for him as he went through a horrible scandal that could cost him everything that is important to him. I loved watching Saylor struggle with what she needed to do, but in the end finally gave in for her love for Travis.

I haven't read any of the other ball players stories, but I really liked this group of friends and the tight friendship that they have. I'll have to go back and check them out. Great read!

5 Stars.

I loved this book it was full of twists, turns, hot sex and great characters!

Saylor is a single Mum; she works long hours as a PR agent but loves her job.

Travis is a baseball star; he has had his share of women but as his friends start to settle down he is thinking about doing the same.

Travis and Saylor have history, and the fact that Travis is a client of hers this cannot get out. But when Travis sees Saylor one night he realises he wants another chance.

Travis gets some devastating news and the only person who can help him is Saylor, will she come to his rescues whilst risking her own career in the process?

Grand Slam by Heidi McLaughlin was a very good read.
I laughed, I swooned, I was frustrated and then I went back to swooning.
Both Travis and Saylor sure knew how to press my buttons lol
They had amazing chemistry and I loved watching Travis with Saylor's little girl Lucy.

Overall, Grand Slam was a heartwarming and entertaining read with likable, relatable characters that brought out all the feels.
Grand Slam is a very good addition to The Boys of Summer series, each book can be read as a standalone and I highly recommend them all!

Travis is a very well known Boston Renegades baseball player and has a bit of a reputation as a womanizer. This reputation is about to be used against him in the most awful way though. You’ve seen the gossip mags right? How many times have you seen claims about celebrities being accused of various things like having affairs, fathering children to strangers and relationships with other people – that are all completely made up.

He never thought it would happen to him though. Travis has a huge fan base who love and support him but human nature can be a fickle thing and it’s not too long before people are turning on him, some people only want to believe the negative, sensationalized stories. People quickly forget about the real man, the one who gives generously to charities and volunteers his time to help and mentor others.

There is one person who is standing by him 100%. Saylor is one of his PR company employees, she is also a woman he has slept with in the past, someone he has been harbouring feelings for, for a while now. Unfortunately for Travis, she is not interested in pursuing anything with him. She is a single mum to a beautiful little girl who just wants to focus on her and doing a good job as a parent and in her professional life. Getting involved with a client risks everything she has worked hard for. Here is the thing though… Saylor is also the key to clearing Travis’ name but in doing so she could lose everything.

"You have to help me, Saylor." "I can't, Travis. You don't know what you're asking of me."

As Saylor tries to fight her attraction to Travis, her wee daughter Lucy has fallen in love with him, she has never had a father in her life and seeing them together makes Saylor realize just how much her daughter has missed by not having one. However, other things are happening in Saylor's personal life and the risk of being with Travis, outside of their professional relationship becomes impossible to overcome. Travis has never felt so alone, everyone is turning their back on him, any time he feels slightly happy, there is another blow delivered.

Honestly, I was shedding tears for this guy and OMG the angst factor was off the charts! I was completely consumed by this story and could not put it down. I loved all the cute moments between Travis and Lucy. I was sneak reading at work and when I wasn't reading I was thinking about reading, worried about what was going to happen. I freaking love it when that happens, it is books like this that cement my love of reading.

A one night stand is supposed to be just that, isn’t it?
For Saylor, it was more, it was wrong and she could get into a lot of trouble, so she sneaked out of Travis’s bed and found herself in even hotter waters.
Travis never found out why she ran. To him the night they shared could have become so much more, but Saylor rebuffs every advance he makes.
So, what is Saylor’s problem? Well, for one she’s a PR specialist that works for the firm which Travis hired to represent him. He was totally off-limit and she knew it, but she was drunk when she gave in to him, now she’s staring cold, hard sobriety in the face. All the damn time.
Travis didn’t get where he is in his sport by sitting on the sidelines though, he knows she’s still attracted to him, it shows every time they are alone together.
He wants to say to hell with the rules regarding their professional relationship.
But, it’s not just Saylor who’s at risk, her daughter is too. Giving in to Travis would put her job on the line and if she were to lose it, who knows where they’d end up. She just can’t take the chance of being discovered.
Ever.
That’s not all, what if she fell for him, lost her heart only to lose him, be cast aside. She’s been down that road one before. What’s that saying? Once bitten? She just has to stay away from him.
Which is all going so well until one night 2 years later. After receiving the worst news of her life, Saylor does the one thing she shouldn’t. She goes to a bar, she even goes so far as having a drink of liquor.
But Travis is there, unsurprisingly with a woman. But when she tries to talk to her, Saylor flees. Travis follows her into her cab, but he leaves alone.
What happened later that night, only one scorned woman knows and she’s crying. RAPE!!!
Falsely accused, Travis knows that Saylor is his one and only alibi. But she can’t do it. She has reasons why, but she’s not willing to share them with him.
Public opinion is played against him by the D.A’s office which is set to prosecute him. Travis faces public humiliation and the ruining of his career--especially when almost 20 other females come forward with their own tales of woe.
Saylor’s boss places her firmly at the head of fixing this sh*t-storm, forcing her to spend more and more time with Travis and the closer they get the harder it becomes not to tell him the truth.
When Travis finally hears the how and why of Saylor’s predicament he doesn’t force her to come clean, instead, he becomes the man with a plan. Hopefully, it will save not just himself, but Saylor too.
While Travis is hard-pressed to understand Saylor’s unwavering refusal to step forward, he doesn’t “out her” or force her to break her silence. But when the heat is turned up and he’s backed against a wall, Travis starts to question his allegiance towards the woman he loves but refuses to speak up. Still, when push comes to shove, Saylor does reveal all to Travis, who devises a plan that just might save them both.
I think, Saylor could have saved herself a lot of anguish if she’d ‘fessed up sooner, but then that would have reduced the ‘angstiness’ of the story.
It was a brilliant story, well written and played out, and Travis was a superb H, so loving and forgiving in the end. Not to mention the intimate moments, which were so steamy I needed a drying off once I’d finished reading.
Loved every second of this book.

The Boston Renegades are back, but this time we get to finally hear Travis Kidd's story. The class clown and lady lover finally gets taken down by his publicist, Saylor Blackwell. Grand Slam centers around a scandal involving Travis and a jilted almost-one-night-stand. Travis and Saylor were a couple I was definitely rooting for, and I absolutely loved seeing how Travis interacted with Saylor's daughter. The ending felt a little rushed for me, but overall this is definitely a must read.
