I liked Mr. Rich, it was a fun read. Julia was a nut along with Kevin and She-Hulk. Bastian was sweet, but felt a bit unstable. As the story went on and learning Bastian's story, it made a little more sense. I could have used a little more depth to the characters, but overall it was a cute story. 4-star review!
Mr. Rich by Virna DePaul......I enjoyed this book and kept me turning pages. I really enjoyed seeing the story unfold for Julia and Bastian. Virna DePaul always gives us a great read with her storytelling. I voluntarily reviewed an advance reader copy of this book from publisher via NetGalley.
I got almost half way through before I called it quits. Just didn't do it for me. She was a twit. And I have no idea who he was. It was like a tween fantasy.
Mr. Rich was a fun and entertaining story that had some good, laugh out loud moments (like the first page!!!!). Julia Rominger used to be in college, as a music major, and was close to graduating when her professor hit on her and when she refused his advances, he made her life miserable so she quit. Now, she works at a grocery store giving out free samples and not enjoying her life. At least her best friend Kevin keeps her entertained!
When Bastian Rich, the drop dead, gorgeous guy Julia has seen a few times comes walking in, Julia and Kevin are both smitten! Too bad this guy is out of both of their leagues. Imagine her surprise when he comes up and starts talking to her! When she goes in the back to get him more samples, Julia comes back to find him passed out on the ground. She contacts 9-1-1 and then takes his wallet out to find out who he is. In the commotion of everything she realizes she never gave him his wallet back. She tries to follow him to the hospital but her car ends up dying on her. Julia eventually tracks him down to his office, where she ends up meeting Ryland Masters, an up-and-coming musician and rock star and the two of them hit it off because of their love of music. Bastian is intrigued by Julia and is not happy to see her with Ryland. This confrontation was wonderful! Loved Julia's speech! ;)
When things with Bastian cool off, Julia reevaluates going back to school to finish her degree. It takes a while but Julia and Bastian finally end up together, even as hard as Bastian tried to push her away because of his secret. These two finally get their happy ending and realize that being together is better than being apart.
I really enjoyed these characters...they were a lot of fun. There were some parts that I thought didn't flow all that well, but overall I did enjoy this story.
Loved this book, funny and witty with a little add emotional roller coasters makes this and enjoyable read. I enjoyed the characters especially Julia's sassy and straight forwardness. Great pace, didn't want to put it down until I finished!

This was a cute, fun read.
Mutual insta- attraction between a billionaire and a grocery store sample girl leads to a series of unusual events - including said sample girl being courted by not one, but two interesting men.
Julia and Bastien are characters that are easy to like, but I have to confess to liking him just a little bit better. Julia was a character that I was a smidge frustrated by because she kept putting herself down and being willing to take less than she wanted because it was what she thought she deserved.
Having said that, one of the things I enjoyed about Mr. Rich was Julia's evolution. Bastien's was a more of a case of needing to get out of his own way, so it didn't seem as significant.
I like the premise that these two were a case of the right person at the wrong time and that they eventually would have the chance to get it right.
Mr. Rich is a well written and quick read - great for a quick fix of cinderella-esque romance.
After a bad experience in college, Julia Romancer drops out and is now working at a dead-end job she hates. She lives in a place she thoroughly dislikes and has a lot of regrets about the past and seems suck in her life.
Sebastian Rich is a playboy who is wealthy and can have any woman he wants. He has sets his sights on Julia and once they get together their chemistry explodes. The problem is both are keeping secrets from each other which isn't a great start for a relationship.
This is my first read by this author and I did enjoy the story. It has humor and tears, which to me is always a great combination for a good story. The H&H had a well-matched chemistry with extremely hot sex scenes. This definitely was a fun and sexy read. Bastian was a great hero once the layers were peeled back and you got to know who he really was. Julia was sassy and very easily let her feelings be known to those around her. This story while it won't win any great awards, had a good plot and was well-written. Enjoyed it.
I received an ARC from Netgalley for an honest review.
Bastion is a rich playboy who falls for Julia who is the sample girl at a grocery store ... In other words your typical Cinderella story. It is a sweet romance, with a few steamy scenes, but the story is very predictable.

Fun, Flirty and Sexy! This was the first story written by Virna De Paul that I have read and I can't wait to get my hands on more. This was great story, it was well written and moved along at a great pace that had me turning the page. Written in dual POV which I love, letting me in on what both characters are thinking. These two have some intense chemistry that cause sparks to fly and some great sex scenes. It was entertaining and sexy and there was a nice bit of emotion and playfulness too.
Julia Rominger is in a rut, stuck in a dead end job passing out samples at Cooper's the local grocery store. Julia has been a loyal employee since she dropped out of college. The only thing that has been a glimmer of excitement in her life, is when "Big Sexy" Bastian Rich drops in to check out the vitamins at the store. Until one day when Big Sexy wanders to her sample table for a taste. Out of her tasty wings Julia takes off to get more, only to return to find him unconscious lying on the floor. As the ambulance takes him away Julia remembers she has his wallet, but when the cab she takes to follow the ambulance dies she isn't sure if she will see this gorgeous sexy man again. Determined days later to find out what happened to Big Sexy she decides to take his wallet to his place of business, but when Big Sexy becomes Big Sexy Asshole, Julia tells him what she thinks of him and leaves. Will she see him again she isn't sure she even wants too. Soon Bastian is in front of her apologizing with some tickets for a concert to make it up to her and Julia can't wait to be Cinderella for her Billionaire Hunk. Will Bastian Be her HEA? Or will she be just another notch in his belt? You will have to read to find out.

This book was fantastic. The characters where great. I will be ordering this book for my library.
Mr. Rich by Virna DePaul is an okay read. I loved Ms. DePaul’s paranormal books but sometimes find it hard to identify with the characters in her contemporary romances. Case in point, Mr. Rich. Bastian Rich and Julia Rominger were likable enough with a solidly written plot but just not the depth of character that I am used to in books that I have read by her. Also, I have trouble with the whole wallet incident early in the story. Perhaps if it had been longer so that there is more development I would have understood the motives finding that I loved the book instead of likening it.
Overall, Mr. Rich is a pleasant read especially when you are in the mood for something light and entertaining without needing to analyze the actions of the characters too much.
Mr. Rich is a fun and sexy stand-alone read with subtle humor and a lot of heat. Julia Rominger is handing out samples at a grocery store, and it’s, obviously, not her dream job. She has a crush on one of her customers, who she's (hilariously) named him “Big Sexy.” They finally meet when he passes out at her feet. She helps him and ends up with his wallet learning his name is Sebastian Rich. Thus, begins Julia and Bastian’s romance.
While Mr. Rich’s plot isn’t breaking any new literary grounds, the story is entertaining, funny, and without angst. Bastian and Julia are both likable and a good match, and they have great chemistry. I thought Bastian would be more of a super-wealthy playboy jerk, but he’s actually nice and mature about relationships. Well, maybe he wasn’t so mature in his younger days but he is now. Ms. DePaul weaves in a lot of comedy, and I found myself chuckling throughout, especially when hearing Julia’s point of view. She’s sassy and sarcastic. Mr. Rich is the perfect beach read.
ARC provided, but this review was voluntarily and honestly written.
I liked this book. It ran away from the usual new adult trappings. The idea that Bastian has Lupus was a brilliant one. I am sure we either know someone with a chronic condition or we are that person. Also, Julia was brilliant and that was another aspect I liked about this book. No dumb bimbo here! All in all, a well-balanced story and a rather enjoyable read!
Julia and Bastian meet in the most unlikeliest of places. A grocery store where Julia hands out samples and Bastian gets his vitamins. Well they don't know it but Julia has had her on on Bastian since he came in the store the first time and Bastian comes in just to catch a glimpse of her. Just when they both are going to make a move Julia had to call a ambulance for Bastian when she finds him passed out on the floor in her store. Not exactly suave but Bastian makes up for it later i assure you. Both Julia and Bastian have some confidence issues based on things in their lives and their pasts. These things play hard into their budding relationship and later when things fall apart. I adored both Bastian and Julia. There is a sweetness and vulnerability to both characters. Don't be fooled by that because they both bring the hotness factor as well. The author did a great job adding a illness that is quite serious with Bastian without letting it dominate the story. It's refreshing to see real life situations to a story including some terrible things that happened to Julia that caused her to drop out of college. It was part of the story but was not THE story. I loved the epilogue wrap up at the end of the book and the glimpse into what happens after the story. Perfect way to end it for me.

Mr. Rich ended up being a lot different than I expected! I decided on a whim to check it out from Netgalley and I am glad I did.
It definitely follows some of the normal romance devices, but the main characters Sebastian and Julia really make the story. They have a lot of heart and humor, and I love that Julia is realistically displayed. She has some self-esteem struggles but at the same time has no problem standing up for herself and being confident when she needs to.
A few of the twists were really well done and not what I expected. If you are looking for a fun, quick summer read I definitely recommend Mr. Rich!

I received this ARC copy of this book from NetGallery for an honest review. I give this book 5 stars. The storyline between Julia and Bastian was well written and a great read. Julia work at a grocery store named Cooper's, where she see a handsome man come in frequently for vitamins. When he finally talk to her, asks if she has any more samples she says she will be right back. When she return she thinks he left but she looks in front of the table and find him on the floor. She call 911 and get out his wallet to find out his name to tell the first responders. Is this love at first sight, you have read this hot book to find out.
Mr. Rich is full of that standard sass that Ms. Depaul has no qualms about doling out. Julia is no standard Cinderella. She does not wait for life to happen to her, she makes things happen for her. Bastian takes a licking with that sharp tongue of hers and tosses it right back. The attitude is fierce, the chemistry is climatic and spice will set the room on fire. Fast, fun and flirty equal fantastic.

My Review:
Sometimes, fate just hands you an opportunity and when Bastian Rich passes out in front of Julia Rominger’s sample table, well, Julia seizes the opportunity.
For weeks, Julia has lusted after Bastian. She’s stood by silently as he walks the aisles, eyed his gorgeous butt every time he bends over, and prays one day he’ll stop by her stand even if only to ask for whatever lame sample she’s currently inflicting on customers. Him passing out and landing right in front of her isn’t exactly how she hoped to meet him, but . . . . .
In the confusion of Bastian passing out, the EMTs arriving and whisking him away to the hospital, Julia realizes she has Basitan’s wallet and no way to contact him. A few keystrokes and Google gives Julia the information she needs and once she works up the courage, she’ll return Mr. Hottie’s wallet, check to see he’s all right, and be right back on her way to her crappy job and apartment. What Julia can’t imagine is what happens when she finally meets Bastian.
Bastian is exactly as his name implies, Rich. He owns his own company, he’s extremely successful, and he has no trouble finding a date. In fact, Bastian has dated some of the most beautiful, sophisticated women so his interest in a grocery store employee doesn’t make sense, even to him. The facts can’t be denied and Bastian has spent an inordinate amount of time in the grocery store working up the courage to speak to Julia. Imagine his surprise the day she walks into his office with none other than his wallet. Once again, opportunity has come calling and, like Julia, Bastian isn’t going to ignore the opportunity.
In what could only be described as a whirlwind, Julia and Bastian fall into one another with ease. Bastian has the means and the desire to woo Julia and Julia has the desire to be wooed. The only kink in the plan is Bastian’s nasty habit of showing her an incredibly good time and then falling off the radar for days or a week at a time. Because the relationship is so new, Julia doesn’t want to appear clingy and Bastian isn’t quite ready to reveal his secret, the secret that keeps him from further pursuing Julia and long-term committed relationship. It isn’t until Julia finally forces the issue and discovers Bastian alone and sick that they are truly able to be open and honest with one another. To say things get worse before they get better is like saying an earthquake is just a tiny little fart.
The Bottom Line: Mr. Rich is an easy read and, for the most part I remained engaged. This is a bit of a slow starter, but once Julia and Bastian truly meet the pace picks up. There’s certainly passion between the two, but there is a lot of uncertainty, unspoken words, and a third party who also has an interest in Julia. There are a great many obstacles to Julia and Bastian’s HEA, but once the air is cleared and everyone’s position is understood, the way is cleared. Overall, I liked this read, but it isn’t something I got overly excited about. It’s a decent read with some interesting moments, but it isn’t a read I would recommend readers put at the top of their TBR list.
I enjoyed this fast paced Cinderella story. Julia is witty and snarky and I love that she isn't afraid to speak her mind or call someone out. Bastian is a reformed playboy who is sweet and sexy. Despite being complete opposites, the chemistry between Julia and Bastian is hot. There aren't really any surprises in this story and nothing makes it stand out from others but it's still a satisfying read. A light, fun read with a sexy HEA!

I am not having much luck with Loveswept titles of late.
Sadly I was pretty bored after the first couple of chapters, and nothing really is inspiring me to carry on with it.
The writing style is a little lacking in emotion as well, it may be a case of 'it's not you it's me', so don't let my review deter you in giving this one a try, it is a relatively short read so it has that in it's favor.
