THE POWER OF ONLYNESS by Nilofer Merchant is another way of building on what "you" can do with your unique talents to "make a dent" in the world. Merchant shares numerous stories from her own life and from others in an inspirational manner. Reviews from peers (Susan Cain, Tom Peters, and Sherry Turkle, for example) are positive and Merchant's credentials – like starting new businesses, having an extremely popular TedTalk, and receiving kudos from Thinkers50 -- are impressive. However, the advanced reader copy is unusually difficult to read: text, footnotes, draft sections and an annoying "Not for Distribution" flag are jumbled constantly, making it very difficult to follow her argument.

In Nilofer Merchant's new book, "The Power of Onlyness", she shows you how to bring forth that which only you can do, bring out your unique gifts and talents, your 'onlyness', and share it to make a dent in the universe. I really enjoyed reading the book and the stories of individuals from around the world who have found a way to tap into their own uniqueness, embraced their 'onlyness' and have made a difference in their corner of the world, which then rippled outward.

Reading the book makes it clear that it isn't easy or inevitable that each of us can do this, but it is possible. Each of us have something that only we see, only we care about and only we can contribute. And the most important takeaway for me from this book was that it is not only possible, it's absolutely imperative for both our sake and that of humanity that we seek that out.

Amazingly written.. The insights and stories that Nilofer shares in the book are amazing. The book celebrates the "Onlyness" that each one of us bring to this world that make this world such an amazing place to live in and makes the time we live in the most exciting times :-)
