Great read. Was a first by this author and will be reading more. I loved the banter between the characters.

It took me a bit to get into this one but then I was hooked. So don't give up if you think it's going slow. You truly learn why Oliver is the way he is. And his thoughts and ways of processing everything that happens in his life. He's in a dark place and is very self-pitying.

Holland is working for a tech company in sales, much as she doesn't want to. She is a statistician but knew her dream was to work at Cody Technology, in whatever capacity she could. So she's working on a "secret" project that might be able to move her into a position/department she'd rather work in. Along comes this annoying surfer boy who helps her with her secret project.

There were so many different topics touched on in this story but I loved it. Each was thought out and presented in full and not just glossed over. The feelings were real and raw.

ARC was provided by the publisher via Netgalley in exchange for an honest review

This book was ok, it was well written I’m just not an instalove fan. I prefer a slow burn, I always feel like instalove just doesn’t give that good build up like slowburns do. If you love instalove then this book is for you!

I really enjoyed this book. Delancy Stewart is a new author to me but one I will follow moving forward.
The characters are dynamic, the dialogue feels comfortable and real. The chemistry and intensity between Holland and Oliver are palpable.
I recommend this book to anyone looking for a strong, emotional connection.

I had somewhat of a hard time with this book. The story was cute, the supporting characters likeable and the writing very easy to read. But the main characters, boy did I want to smack them. I found that I kept having to put the book down as a way of punishing them for getting on my nerves so much.

The story was not particularly original, but still sweet. Holland wanted to move up in her company where the environment is one that doesn’t give women a fair shake. So, following the adage that it’s easier to beg forgiveness than ask permission, she devises a use for the company’s flagship product that will get her noticed. And it does. By a jerk in a coffee shop. Who also happens to be the CEO that had been MIA for several months.

Their relationship blossoms under false pretenses, but I couldn’t entirely blame Oliver for his sin of omission. As a couple, Oliver and Holland were cute and worked well together. And since I enjoy that whole “secretly I’m your boss” trope, I enjoyed watching them get to know one another with the secret hanging over them. I was a fan of the two of them together.

Until I wanted to shake both of them for being stubborn, selfish and needing to just get over themselves.

Holland was a woman who wanted to stand on her own two feet, which was admirable. She came up with an idea to revolutionize the company she worked for. She asked for assistance. But when it was given to her, now she whined that she didn’t do it on her own. When she was rewarded for her efforts, she bemoaned the fact that the recognition wasn’t justified because she didn’t earn it the way she wanted to. She had her lists, her plans, her life mapped out to the most precise detail. She just needed to stop.

And don’t even get me started on Oliver. The man needed to grow up. His solution to everything was to run away. Problem with your parents? Disappear to an island for months at a time and leave your company and employees in a lurch while you bemoan the fact that you feel unwanted. Throw stuff and pout. Never mind obligation. Relationship issues? Forget anyone else, just walk off and assume money will solve every problem.

I frankly found myself overly agitated by this story. The writing was good and the author told a sweet tale. I wanted to be so in love with these two characters because they were worth it. But they just frustrated the hell out of me.

Mr Big by Delancey Stewart left me with mixed feelings. I finished it mid-August. That’s one of the few I managed to read this summer, along with Traitor in her arms. But I just couldn’t bring myself to review it. I was seriously confused.

♥ The story ♥

Mr Big tells the story of Oliver Cody, the CEO of the company Holland works in. He’s going through a hard time lately and while he deals with it, Holland is working long hours to achieve her goals and get her dream job. Little does she know, she’s actually working for the guy she just called an arrogant jerk at the company coffeeshop.

♥ What I liked ♥

- I liked how Oliver was instantly intrigued by Holland. Love at first sight kind of stories are a bit tricky for me because if it’s done in an unrealistic way, I can’t get into it. Here, it was good.
- I love office-romances and this book was one of those stories, so yes!
- Overall, the love story between Oliver and Holland was cute.

♥ What I liked less ♥

- When I started reading, I seriously thought immediately I wouldn’t like this book. The beginning was a bit confusing. I think it was going for a mysterious start but I didn’t feel intrigued, I was more frustrated and not in a good way. Moreover, the hero was whining during the whole Prologue, so it put me off a bit. But, it got better!
- Even though it was a really cute story, I really couldn’t connect to the characters.
- The pace was a bit too slow for me and I felt like there were uninteresting events.
- Sometimes the hero had such annoying reactions.

To conclude, there was some good and some bad in this book. Unfortunately, at times I was too annoyed with the bad to enjoy the good.

I really enjoyed this book! It's the first book I've read by this author and can't wait to read more!

2.5 stars
It's really hard to tell why this book was 2.5 stars without giving away spoilers. When I started the book I really did enjoy it. Although there was a bit of an insta love happening I overlooked it. But as the story unfolded the heroines insecurities really really got to the point where I kind of just wanted to yell at her to snap out of it. At half point the plot took a nose dive for me. The hero's actions towards the heroine and her news were disappointing.

I had this book sitting in my reading queue for a long time. Something about the cover and title turned me off. Now that I have read the book I can say you shouldn't judge a book by its cover. There is more story than a hot guy. Oliver Cody is a mess. After his parents pass away suddenly, Oliver finds out he is adopted and starts doubting everything he thought he knew about his life. Holland O'Dell grew up in foster homes and after attending college takes a sales position at Cody Technology hoping one day to work as an analyst. When Holland first meets Oliver, she doesn't know who he is, but he sees what she is doing and offers to help her create a new product for Cody. Oliver finds Holland attractive and her joy in creating the new product helps him see through his anger and grief and step back into his role as CEO of the company again. Their path as a couple is not smooth, as Holland struggles to believe that she deserves all of her success when people look at her as getting it because she slept with the boss. I got a little bored at the end when they break up multiple times due to stupid things.

Sexy, formulaic romance. Very descriptive but less story.

Mr. Big by Delancey Stewart is the first book I have read from this author. The cover and synopsis had me hooked. This book is a story of someone who seems to have everything and then his world is turned upside down. The chemistry and drama between Oliver and Holland held my interests and I enjoyed this book. I look forward to reading more from this author.

I received a copy of this book through Netgalley.

I flew through this new adult book. The story kept me mostly engaged. Although I wasn't the biggest fan of the writing. Both Holland and Oliver have a ton of issues that left me wanting to scream at them on countless occasions. I wish we could have found out more about Adam's parents. I feel like that would have really added to the story. Same goes for the people who raised Holland. All around a fun, quick read.

The cover lured me in but the contents were disappointing. The Hero was annoying. Too much "my perfect adopted parents ruined my life - woe is me". Once he finally got over his problems we were blessed with an overload of Heroine annoyance. Too much "what will people think of me?" It was just way too much hero/heroine annoying behavior.

Holland is a smart, and fiercely independent heroine and Oliver is a bit of a broody a$$ with a chip on his shoulder. Their chemistry was great and I always enjoy a bit of a "mistaken identity" storyline. As a woman who works in a male-dominated field, I could appreciate what Holland went through with her boorish male colleagues. I'll definitely be checking out other works by Delancey Stewart.

This book started off really well but it did falter for me mid way through as it was a little repetitive and slow going, however, that being said, overall, this was an enjoyable office romance.

I voluntarily reviewed an ARC from Netgalley.

I wanted to like this book. I really, really did. After reading the description, I knew it was right up my alley. smh I hate when I'm wrong. Oh, don't get me wrong. It would've been an amazing read...except for Oliver. Good God, could he have been any more whinier. I've known middle school girls who were less whiny and that's saying something. Right from the get go it started. But, surely, I thought he'll develop and be something better. Well, I plowed through the whole book and nope, nada, no, never it didn't happen. Maybe some of you out there will enjoy it. I didn't.

Oliver has had the rug pulled out from under him and everything he believes. Holland is a new graduate and finds out that even though she is qualified for the job she applied for she is not the right gender for it. She takes a job with the company just to get her foot in the door anyway and works on a program and little does she know Oliver is the one who wrote and developed it. This is just one of the things that brings them closer or at least gives Oliver an excuse to get closer...These two have so much chemistry and it smokes right off the page and keeps the pages turning. I started this book with a preconceived notion and I am really glad it was proved wrong. I really enjoyed this one and will be looking forward to reading more of this author!

The blurb really intrigued. Oliver was the CEO of Cody Technology but he decided to leave and go soul searching. That was working for him until his parent’s death. Now he’s back and taking over the family business.

Meeting Holland at the coffee shop he is drawn to her. These two have some kind of pull towards each other and the more they’re together the stronger the pull is.

To me the ending was one of the best parts of the book. I didn’t totally connect with the characters for a lot of the book. I think I will go back at a later time and give this book another try. I might have just been in a major book slump when I read this.

Holland is determined to achieve the goals she's set for herself, and first is to get the job she wanted. However, it isn't easy when the place where she works seems to be male-dominated. Still, she needs help if she's going to climb the corporate ladder, and who better to help than the guy she meets at her work's coffee house. However, when Holland discovers the truth of her mystery man's identity, will she give Oliver a chance to explain so they can achieve their happy ever after or will she put the brakes on their growing relationship?

What a fantastic read Ms. Stewart had penned in this book, which had me completely engaged from beginning to end due to the compelling characters that had interesting back stories; riveting dialogue that had me determined to discover what direction this story would take; and the ending that had me cheering for this couple's happy ever after because of the hero's determination to win the heroine's heart. The way this story started had me liking the hero immediately, as he's hurting due to some information he's learnt about his life. Will he ever be able to forgive his parents for what they kept from him?

As for the dialogue, it was a wonderful blend of intense, emotional and playful banter that had me charmed by this hero and heroine, as Holland isn't receptive to Oliver in the beginning, which had me intrigued in finding out whether Oliver would be able to win the heroine over in giving him a chance. While Holland is Oliver's light; the one capable of getting him beyond the darkness he's found himself fallen into because of what his parents did by not telling him the truth and I liked how their growing relationship helped Oliver to see that his parents loved him no matter what. Certainly, the secondary characters help him to see that family is more than blood as well.

Moreover, the heroine is resilient, determined to achieve her goals, and I liked that she let the hero into her life, even though she's adamant he's not the man she saw herself achieving happy ever after with. I also liked how kind, caring and compassionate she is when it came to things the hero tells him. Will she be able to make Oliver see that his parents were only doing what was best for him and that they didn't mean to hurt him? While the hero, he's been through so much since the death of his parents and I could understand his anger. Why did his parents ever not tell him the truth? I also liked how the hero opened up to the heroine because he needed to rid himself of the anger, if he was to ever be completely happy and find happiness with Holland. Yet, what I liked most of all about the hero is how willing he was to help the heroine, even though he's holding back from her. Will she be upset when she learns the truth? Will Oliver be able to win the heroine over and make her see that they're perfect for each other once he realizes that he can't live without the heroine in his life?

Overall, Ms. Stewart has penned a wonderful read in this book where the chemistry between this couple was intense; the romance explosive and showed how good Holland is for Oliver, as he needs to find his way back to his old self; and the ending had me concerned for this couple's happy ever after. However, in saying that, I loved how Oliver won the heroine back. Luckily, he isn't afraid to admit how much she means to him to those that this couple were determined to keep their relationship a secret from for fear of people thinking badly of the heroine and how she got her current position in Oliver's company. Yet, it was the epilogue that wrapped this story up nicely, because of the name Holland and Oliver decided on, which shows he's finally happy and at peace with the past. I would recommend Mr. Big by Delancey Stewart, if you enjoy office romances, the opposites attract trope or books by authors Vi Keeland, Whitney G, Natasha Madison and Virna De Paul.
