Holland O'Dell is trying to make her mark in the world, a man's world. She knows she can do it, she just needs to get her foot in the door. Not one to easily trust another, she finds herself leaning more than she's comfortable with on the broody, surfer she met in the company coffee house.
Oliver Cody thought he had things figured out, his life, his career, his identity, then his world crashed around him. He's angry and anyone within a 10 foot radius bears the brunt of it until he meets a very feisty, guarded girl in the coffee house. He can't stay away from her though he knows it is under false pretenses.
This is the first book I've read by this author. I was hooked by the beginning and curious as to where the story was heading. I greatly appreciated Holland's independent streak even when she knew she should rely on another. She wasn't easily swayed. My heart wept for Oliver and his circumstances and I was happy he was able to move past his mental roadblocks to achieve a greater life.
I would recommend this book to a friend and I look forward to reading more by this author.
Oliver is a CEO of a large tech company that he helped found with his father Adam, but has been on a hiatus for the last 8 months. Oliver felt that everything had been given to him and he didn't have to work for anything so he broke up with his fiancé of one month and left to travel to beaches all around the world. Until he gets the call every person dreads getting. He has to leave the beach he is currently lounging on to come back to Cody Tech and take care of everything. With devastation from some news he never expected, he has to figure out who he is within the wake of this news and how he is going to keep his company afloat. Until he meets Holland. He cuts in line in the coffee shop in Cody Tech and she has something to say about him cutting in front of her right before she orders.
Holland sees this guy cut in line and order his coffee right as she is going to order. This does not bode well, so she says something about it to him. But she cant help but feel the chemistry that is between them, he body just hums. The arrogance of this guy who looks like he doesn't belong in Cody Tech is beyond. Holland sees him again and they speak to each other and he introduces himself to her as Hale. Sam the barista vouches that he is a good guy to Holland and she ends up asking him for help with the tech of the new program she is working on for baseball. Which would be a huge game changer not only for her so that she could get out of sales and hopefully into a analytics position, but could possibly save the company.
After Hale helps her with the tech side of the program she starts to fall for him, hard. After getting a drink one day after working with Hale, they end up back at her apartment. But she regrets not knowing him well before sleeping with him, but she doesn't regret how he made her feel. SO she cant help but fall for him even more when he just keeps making her feel so good. Until it comes time to present to MLB, he drops a huge bombshell on her. How could he not tell her this before?
This book was absolutely riveting! I couldn't stop reading long enough to eat my dinner in full. I NEEDED to know how everything was going to work out because it was one huge obstacle after another one for Holland and Oliver.
Holland not only dealt with her adoption and how that made her feel her whole life in and out of foster homes until she lived with Mama Gi with Delia. But there is still the need to earn everything she has. Holland she wants to earn everything on her own so that she doesn't have to depend on anyone but herself, but at times everyone needs help you just have to ask. But she struggles with making sure that people know that she has worked for everything she has, even if that is exactly what happened. But in her eyes perception is everything, and not everyone sees things as she does.
This is my first Delancey Stewart book and it will definitely not be my last by any means!! I am hoping she will continue with a series for these set of characters!! Delancey did not disappoint with this book and I am super excited to read another one of her books!
This book has a great storyline with well defined characters that pulled me right into their story from the very beginning and kept me totally engaged until the very end!

This is a great book with a wonderful story and well developed characters. The story flowed very well and was very enjoyable. This book will keep you reading long into the night and you will not want to put this book down until you finish. This was such a great read and full of surprises. I voluntarily reviewed an advanced reader’s copy of this book. The free book held no determination on my personal review.
He’s tortured and dark, angsty and arrogant. You want the truth? He’s kind of an A-hole.
He’s also the CEO.
Everything in my life goes according to plan, and that’s the way I like it. I got the degree. I got the job. Now I just need to prove that I have what it takes to succeed in the real world.
If there’s one thing that’s not in my plans, it’s falling in love with my boss.
Most relationships don’t start with one person calling the other out in public for being an arrogant jerk. Then again, most CEOs don’t cut their own employees in line at the coffeehouse and bark orders at people like they own the place.
Maybe pissing Oliver Cody off isn’t the right move. And now that he’s part of my world, all my plans go straight to hell.
Review:
So this story kind of took me by surprise. From the cover and blurb I was expecting a totally different book. Don't get me wrong Oliver is a jerk, but he is also just floating by not really a business man until his father dies and he thrust back into the company he created. Mostly he is lured back by Holland and her inventive idea. Oliver is okay, I had my moments liking and disliking him. Holland I liked slightly more, though she put up with his crap more than I would have and she does seem to be wishy-washy in parts of the book. There are sparks between them and sexy times, I guess I was just expecting something a little more from it.
Good story, had promise, just fell a little short for me.

Thank you to Netgalley for the ARC of this book. I give it 3 1/2 stars
This was my first Delancey Stewart book and I liked it. I would probably check out more from her in the future. The story was a bit hard for me to get into at first but then the author was able to pull me in and make me care about what was going on. Oliver & Holland have some serious chemistry which makes for some super steamy hot scenes. Besides that though they are able to be what the other needs away from the steam and manage to get through some tough times to find love and their HEA together.
I loved everything about this book! It was hot and steamy, yet angsty at times. It was very well written. CEO and boss tropes are one of my favorites. There is something about the dominant alpha male who likes to push/pull with the ladies. But he always gets what he thinks he doesn't need or want, and Oliver is no exception.

A sizzling HOOOOT, sexy, scrumptious romance with LOADS of heat, chemistry, witty banter, well developed characters and a downright appealing storyline!
Mr. Big is just a hot sexy mess! It was fun, sexy, and had plenty of heart. It is the type of mess you will indulge in again and again and still come back for more. Once I started on this story I couldn't put it down until I was finished. I loved how this story was put together. The writing is developed and entertaining and the romance and sex....FANTASTIC! There is plenty of angst and frustration with how the characters deal with some stuff that just gives the story the FULL effect so I think it adds to plenty to it.
I give Mr. Big a STUPENDOUS FIVE SHOOTING STARS! I loved this book cover to cover and am eagerly shouting for more.
Mr. Big by Delancey Stewart is a full-length standalone romance novel.
Meet Oliver Cody, 26, successful, gorgeous and broken. He left his life and his family behind until a tragedy forces him back into his old life. But he is torn and angry.
He meets the new empoyee Holland O'Dell. Her life was anything than perfect. But she's driven. And she loves her plans.
Both clash and sparks fly. She thinks of him as arm doodle and she lights his life. Then she needs- his help without knowing that he's her boss. They go back and forward, more back than anything. Reading this book I so wanted to yell at the characters to get a grip at their immature behavior. But- this book is well written and kept me well entertained. I really loved the story and the writing is great. This book goes at a slow pace.
All in all I liked it and give 4,5 stars. Thank you Delancey Stewart.
Oliver was disappointed in what life had thrown at him, and went on the deep end of depression. Then he met Holland, a woman who grew up in foster homes, but not with the baggage and bad experience associated with that. So began this love story. At first Holland did not know that Oliver is her CEO. When she found out, she was mad but forgave him. They had their ups and downs, then I thought after the last hurdle, they are home free. Apparently not. There was a biggy (which I don't want to divulge because of spoilers). The way that was handled, I kind of like it. Even though I was mad with Oliver, it is also commendable there was no insta compromise. It was a slow burn. A good kind of slow burn.
"This kiss wasn't like any other I'd shared. It had a life of its own, and it surged and expanded..." So, our hero Oliver, isn't as much of an a**hole as he claims. Oliver has had a life of privilege, there is no denying that. While he tries to discover himself, he loses everything held dear to him. His life is turned upside down when he learns things weren't as them seemed to be. Holland, our spirited and determined heroine, doesn't put up with his foul mood, his bitterness or anything negative he wants to throw out to everyone. She has had a rough road, but is determined to continue to move her life up. She warms Oliver from the inside out and he sees what can be.
As things start to come together, and unravel as well, they have to make decisions to come together with the changes that happen or come apart at the seams.
I enjoyed the push and pull of the characters and their relationship. As always, Delancey Stewart's writing is on point as she brings us into her characters' world!
I was looking forward to this book and thought it would be a sexy, and fun read about an arrogant CEO. I liked the synopsis of the book provided and the cover is really hot (although the MC is blond and the cover really ends up not having anything to do with the book at all). Unfortunately, this book just didn't end up being what I expected and although I wanted to like it I struggled to get through parts of it.
The biggest issue I had was that I never really liked either of the main characters. Oliver had his moments and just when I was starting to like him he would do something really stupid and treat the Holland like crap. I was expecting an arrogant and brash hero but although he could be arrogant at times mostly he just came across as whiny and screwed up. Holland also bothered me. She couldn't decide what she wanted and went back and forth. It seemed all she cared about was what other people would think and I just couldn't understand why she felt she hadn't earned her promotion.
I also really didn't feel the chemistry between these two characters. Probably because they spent a lot of time wrapped up in their own heads focused on their own whining about their issues.
The pacing was a bit slow and just when I was getting invested Oliver was a complete jerk and a coward. The way he treated Holland was completely unacceptable and it went on for quite a long time. I think if he would have realized he made a mistake and then had to work his way back into Holland's life I would have liked it. The fact that he basically says I'm sorry I screwed up and she says okay and all is forgiven really bothered me. I didn't like the way Holland gave in right away and I didn't like that Oliver got to basically just forget about his terrible treatment of Holland and never had to face any consequences for his actions. In fact, he never had to face any consequences for any of his actions - not being a jerk to all his friends, not refusing to take responsibility for his company, not for treating Holland so poorly. I would have liked to see some character growth from Oliver because he had to face up to his poor behavior but that just didn't happen.
So while, this book will probably work for a lot of people it just didn't for me.
I have never read this author before and was asked to read this book in exchange for an honest review. I must say, I was very impressed. The characters were likeable...the story was funny and interesting....and I just couldn't put this book down.
Oliver Cody's world has completely imploded. The world as he knew it has been turned upside down by a horrible event. First he was on top of the world, and next he was crashing down at the bottom. Ollie is the CEO of Cody Technology, having taken over the reigns from his dad. The last thing he wants to be doing is working so he takes a six week break from his life. When Ollie shows back up at the office one day, he stops at the company coffeehouse and runs into someone who has given him back a spark of life. Enter Holland O'Dell. Oh, man did I LOVE this meeting. Great laugh out loud sparring! Ollie realizes he needs to know more about this girl.
Holland O'Dell has dreamed of working at Cody Technology pursuing her love of statistics and sports. Fresh from earning her master's degree, Holland gets hired on at Cody Technology, but not doing what she had hoped to be doing. It seems to get that job, you need to be a male. Holland just plans to work on a secret project that she can woo upper management with that would guarantee her a promotion. She is going to improve the company's StrokeStat program that is no longer be used and customize it for Major League Baseball.
Ollie starts hanging out at the coffeehouse hoping to run into Holland again. Of course he does and then the real fun begins. He realizes she is working on StrokeStat. Considering he designed and wrote it, and she has no idea who he really is, he knows this will be fun. He finally gets Holland to agree to let him help her with the hope of spending more time together. As they spend more time together, things really begin to blossom and turn serious pretty quickly. Just when it looks like his life is finally improving, the rug gets pulled out from under him and he has to face his issues and decide what he really wants in his life.
Ollie and Holland together were great. The awesome banter in the beginning was priceless. As their relationship progressed, things were only getting better. Overall, I really loved these two characters and the journey they had to take to get to their happy ending. I laughed, swooned and even cried.
Funny and sexy! I really enjoyed this romantic romp! And interesting twist on the "falling for my boss" premise.
I am new to Ms Stewarts work. The blurb for this book was interesting and I wanted to give it a try. There were a lot of parts to this book that I couldn't get into but then some parts were good. Both main characters Oliver and Holland were sometimes hard to handle. Seemed like they were grown adults having temper tantrums. Oliver especially is holding a grudge because he didn't know the facts surrounding his birth so he takes off and leaves his family company to pout basically. I liked it when he pulled his act together after meeting Holland in a coffee shop and decides to help her with her work project. I liked how she didn't know who he was, and their bantering was fun to watch. It just got irritating and hard to read when Holland didn't seem like she could handle being helped, like she didn't want a helping hand but rather had to do it all. Then tried to end her relationship because of it. It almost seemed like they were teenagers with all the drama that was in this book. It did get better at the end but by that time I was just to exhausted and check out of this story. It has nothing to do with the author I just think this story was not my cup of tea and you should read it to form your own opinion.
Mr. Big by Delancey Stewart
Life does not always follow a plan. No matter how detailed or etched in stone. Holland’s life has been one of not belonging. She is determined to make it her way in life plan - that is step by step. Even if life is not cooperating. Holland joins a job with a high tech company on the sales force - not as one of the tech people. She is working on a new application, but just can’t seem to get it to work right. A man offers to help her - one she meets in a coffee shop. She is suspicious but he seems to get what she needs and is able to help her. Little does she know, he owns the company when he looks like an out of work bum.
Such is how surprises happen and Holland and Oliver need to find their way forward. Mr Big does have some hot hot and hotter sex scenes. Sometimes it is hard to find your way even with clear road markers. Mr Big by Delancey Stewart is a good read.
'Mr. Big' by Delancey Stewart is the story of Oliver Cody and Holland O'Dell.
Oliver Cody started a business at an early age and was about to marry when he decided to walk away from it to 'find himself' leaving his dad and some other people in charge of the company. But now there was a bad accident that took his parents life that also took away what he thought he knew about himself. Now he is back at the company but not caring about it and thinking of selling off his shares.
Holland is a hard working women who fighting to get a job in a mans world. At first the way Oliver is dressed he looks like a surfer or bum. So the first time she officially sees him at the coffee house he pushes the coffee line to go right head of everyone else and then is short with the server. So Holland goes over to his table to let him have a piece of her mind. But what Oliver found is that Holland woke him up with his desire to have her and its the first thing he has cared about in along time. But can they both work through their issues to actually have a relationship?
"My honest review is for a special copy I voluntarily read."
3.5 stars-
So I have a love-hate relationship with this book. I loved a lot about the story that the author created. We get Oliver who is on a mission to just give up. He has a lot of anger and kind of floats through life. He meets a girl and finds an immediate connection which was awesome. But then he got stupid.
I pretty much liked Holland. But she had a lot of back-and-forth issues that started making me cuckoo. Then she just got stupid.
Through all the weird ups and downs we finally get an HEA at the last minute. So I guess that makes me happy because I love happy endings. But I also didn't really connect too much with the characters. The beginning was fun and funny in many parts, but towards the ending, it just plain frustrated me. I don't want to be frustrated when I read a story.
The writer did give us plenty of hot scenes and heated connections that made up for a lot of the idiosyncrasies of the story. Definitely worth it to read the story just go to it with an open mind.
This book had me crying, laughing and frustrated all at the same time, and I loved it. From the beginning, I was rooting for Oliver, a.k.a., Hale, and Holland to open up to each other and learn to trust again. Oliver was a very tortured soul. The last thing he said to his parents was an argument and then he left his job and his entire life. He received a phone call-his parents had died and he needed to come home right away. Unfortunately, he also found out a secret that his parents had been keeping from him his entire life, and he spiraled out. He treated everybody horribly and honestly didn't know where his life was headed or what he was going to do. He literally gave up. Until, Holland entered his life and he found new purpose.
Holland was a woman who didn't like to rely on anyone, mainly because she never had anyone to rely on when she was younger. Shifted from foster home to foster home, her 'sister' was the only person she had ever been close to. She found it hard to trust anyone and/or believe that they only wanted to help her. So when "Hale" offers to help her with a project for work, she is skeptical. She also doesn't know that he is keeping a huge secret about who he really is.
When the secret about his identity comes out, can she move past it? Or, will she believe he only wants one thing from her and stop the relationship? When they become more than acquaintances, and he finds something in her apartment that hits a little to close to home and the secret his parents kept from him, will he leave her all alone? Or, will he man up and let himself be happy? Can two tortured souls find a way to follow the light the other brings into his or her life and be happy?
I really loved this story, especially how the author wrapped everything up, including the secret of his childhood. Pick up Mr. Big today and go on an emotional ride with Oliver and Holland. I received an ARC, via NetGalley, in exchange for an honest, voluntary review.
Mr. Big is a compelling story full of tenderness, humor and raw emotion, and it is breathtakingly romantic and drop-dead sexy. Oliver Cody’s life was turned upside down when his parents suddenly died in a car accident and secrets were revealed. He feels lost and disillusioned, and he's ignoring his responsibilities at the highly successful tech company that he and his father built. He’s acting out and is quite the jerk.
Holland works for Oliver, but he’s been so absent that she doesn’t recognize him when they meet. They’re both instantly and intensely drawn to each other, and the chemistry between them sizzles, although Holland is understandably sassy and doesn’t tolerate Oliver’s unpleasant behavior. She challenges him, and he loves it. But he doesn’t divulge his identity, even when he and Holland begin working together on a project. As they get closer, he’s falling for Holland, and she’s falling for him, but Oliver's secret threatens their chance at happiness.
Delancey Stewart does an extraordinary job developing these two enigmatic characters and bringing them to life, and readers will be rooting for these two. Mr. Big has it all - tenderness, humor, heartfelt emotion and romance
