I really enjoyed this story. I enjoyed the underlying plot and how the characters grow.

The first half was wonderful and really set up for an exciting storyline; I did feel as though the second half didn’t quite live up to the first half. I did not enjoy the sudden back and forth from both Holland and Oliver, or how one moment Oliver was all for something and then suddenly was going down a completely different path and how Holland was constantly in her head and couldn’t see the truth of her path. Just too much added drama that I feel wasn’t needed and took away from the sincerity of the story in some parts, as well as being able to feel a true character connection.

I completely enjoyed the emotional aspect of this story. There were moments my heart hurt and moments I smiled. There are many heartfelt moments in this story and it comes together beautifully.

This is an enjoyable story that will leave your heart full.

It was really hard to connect with these characters. I wanted to like this book. I really did, but it just didn't do it for me.

Oliver had everything the woman the job the house the parents, until one day when he got a call. That day he lost almost everything. When he was angry and went to work he noticed a woman giving him the riot act for being rued not know who he was, Holland just called him big dick

Oliver Cody, well Hale as Holland knew him first, is a jerk. At least he was at first. He acted like he owned the place, cut in line and she called him out. She thought he was just hanging around, little did she know he was her boss. Their relationship started on a lie (Oliver didn’t tell Holland he was really the CEO), but built into something real and worth it. The drama of their relationship going back and forth, the pregnancy and the resulting breakup and out of control spiral of the male lead are somewhat cliché but enjoyable. Overarching theme is about communication and trust in relationships, not just romantic ones but all relationships. To be fair, Oliver has had a rough go of it lately and has found out some things about his life that he never expected. That would throw anyone off and unmoor them. Overall I enjoyed this book and would recommend to someone.

I haven't read a book that's completely knocked me off my legs in ages but this book did. I definitely 5 stars and more for this book. What a fantastic writer Delancey Stewart is just brilliant

I really enjoyed the start of this book. The writing was so powerful and engaging. I loved the appropriate use of metaphors. Ms. Stewart is a fantastic author.

Unfortunately, as the book went along, the characters became very annoying. I was shocked that Oliver can be a CEO but can't support Holland with what she is going through (I'm being vague to avoid giving any spoilers). He also can't see past the lie his parents told him to realize that at least he was wanted, unlike his supposed love of his life. He's childish and stupid. Holland also seemed odd. For being so independent, she couldn't let go of the fact that others would think bad of her for sleeping with the CEO. Really? Also, I couldn't believe how quickly she forgave Oliver given his complete abandonment. Unbelievable. I wanted to like them, and at the start of the book, I did. However, it seems to create conflict in the book, she made her characters behave horribly.

Mr Big
I really enjoyed this book but that's not to say at times I did find it annoying. To start with Oliver had just left his company and parents to 'find himself' then when he lost his parents he again 'lost himself' though to be fair he was still looking for himself...hence my annoyance!
Holland was a good character, I did want her just to tell Oliver to grow up instead of being a complete doormat at times.
At the back of my mind I kept thinking Oliver must have a mental illness and wondered if he was suffering from depression, though I think this was wishful thinking and I was making up excuses for his behaviour.
But, despite this, this was a book I enjoyed and would recommend.
My thanks to net galley and publisher for opportunity to review this book honestly.

Sometimes readers don’t want too much realism in their romance stories, especially if we’re already off the mark with a wealthy man and a smart but struggling woman. However, Delancy Stewart makes it work and so well that I didn’t want the story to end.
Holland is a hardworking young woman who has a plan. Boy, does she ever have a plan. She has planned her whole life going forward and even has the checklist to prove it. Holland, however carries a lot of baggage with her, including growing up in the foster care system. She was fortunate to have been in relatively few foster homes and her last foster mother was, if not loving, at least a caring woman who tried to prepare her foster kids for college and life. Holland even has a foster “sister” with whom she is still close. Before graduating with a masters degree in statistics, Holland researched and chose the company she wanted to work for and exactly what job she ultimately wanted. She got a job in the company she wanted, but took a job she felt was beneath her with her famous plan to work her way up.
There is a lot of feminist rage in here, including how difficult it is for a woman to be treated equally to a man in the job market. It was handled with honesty and relatively evenly, especially when men were surprised that it happened.
Oliver is the beloved son who co-founded the company with his father and was groomed from childhood to become the CEO. He was cherished by his parents and handed anything he wanted on a silver platter. And therein is the problem. He’s been given everything. He doesn’t feel he has earned anything on his own, so one day he just walks away and spends almost a year as a surf bum. When his parents are killed and a sobering secret is revealed, Oliver comes home intending to walk away again.
When Holland and Oliver meet, initially she has no idea who he is and when she finds out, of course she feels lied to and betrayed. The rest of the story involves secrets, omissions, lies, assumptions, and the devastating effect that a lack of trust has on a relationship. Sometimes I wanted to jump into the pages and knock some sense into both of them, but these are things that a person must come to terms with themselves.
When the ultimate betrayal happens or seems to happen, and it looks like all is lost both Holland and Oliver must either quit holding onto perceived hurts and grow the f*** up, or stay mad and lose everything they thought they wanted.
This is a masterful piece of writing. I could not, and did not, put it down until I finished the book. It’s difficult to say how much I loved reading Mr. Big but when you read it you will understand. Oh, and there is more to Mr. Big’s snarky nickname from Holland but I’ll let you find that for yourself.

I was given an arc from NetGalley in exchange for an honest and independent review.
An enjoyable read. I really liked the character of Oliver. On the surface he was arrogant, cocky and spoiled. But as Holland found out there was a lot more below the surface. I liked the development of their relationship and the chemistry between them was quite intense.
But as with any romance, the path of true love is bumpy. A quick, feel good story.

This book was not what I was expecting. There is so much heart and forgiveness in this book, it was truly a great read. There are some funny moments and some grab your tissues because this book has all the feels too. Amazing character development in this book. Truly wonderful writing that pulls you in and you just need to know what happens next.

This book is OK. Not great. I found myself caught up in the drama between Oliver and Holland, but I was bored enough during the first half of the book that I skimmed over page after page of uninteresting writing. It just took too much time to explain some of the VERY non-essential bits of the story.

Oliver and Holland both need counseling. Instead of getting some they took out their problems on each other in spite of loving each other. This was hard to take. I wanted to shake some sense into both of them. So we have a book about a rather boring company that is on the brink of ruin, and we have a couple of rather un-endearing people we are supposed to care about. Just not my cup of tea. I won't be looking for more from this author.

I thoroughly enjoyed this book although I did find it a little implausible that Holland wouldn't recognize Oliver as the CEO of the company she's been working at for a few years. I know he had been gone for months & hadn't shaved, cut his hair, or really taken care of himself, but I would think there would be a glimpse of him under all of that. I still really enjoyed the story & wold highly recommend it. I couldn't put it down. The heat between the two was smoking, even when she acted like she detested him. The scenes were just as steamy when they didn't involve sex. They just have great chemistry. Lots of ups & downs with their relationship (almost too much so but Oliver is immature) but worth it. Great book!

4 ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

I definitely got sucked into reading this by the cover. This was a cute story but a bit frustrating at times. I really just wanted to knock Oliver upside his head.
Oliver recently lost his parents and meets and immediately falls in love with Holland. Their relationship was so back and forth. But the drama is what kept me reading.
I will definitely keep my eye out for more books by Delancey Stewart.
Thanks NetGalley for the arc in exchange for my honest review.

I couldn't finish this book. I tried, but it just felt so trite and unbelievable. I mean, I get it. These books are ALL fantasy, to a degree, but there has to be a little bit of reality thrown in there for good measure.

this one goes back and forth between POV which I like in a book, however, it repeats itself a bit too much.

When I started reading this book, my feelings about Oliver Cody, CEO of Cody Technology, was that he was a whiney baby.  He had a privileged life, loving parents, great college education.  Thanks to a sports gadget that Cody invented and his genius dad perfected and marketed, they were filthy rich.  Until one day, Oliver was on the summit of his perfect life, with the perfect fiancée, on the brink of marriage, and he suddenly realized he didn't know himself.  Huh?!? So he broke up his engagement, left his CEO job, left his dad in charge of their company and took to wandering the world, surfing at all the gorgeous beaches, trying to find himself.  Until one day he receives a phone call about his parents, and he has to return home, face his life, face his demons and make something concrete about all he had experienced in the six months he'd been away.

Everyone wanted a piece of him, of course, since he's the CEO and the company is adrift and the board and investors are about to abandon a sinking ship.  And all he could say was: "I can't". And he was mad because people didn't understand why.  He was angry at the world, angry at his parents, he couldn't care about anything at the moment except for the next bottle of liquor.

Holland O'Dell was a Girl With A Plan.  The plan had been penned in a Powerpuff girls notebook when she was ten-year old, and she diligently followed her plan to success until now.  She was first in her class of applied statistics and applied for a job at the company she had chosen, Cody Technology.  The job she got was in sales, a little different from the one she wanted, in sports statistics, but no matter, she had another plan to get there.  She had borrowed the plans to the initial gadget that had started it all, and was going to work on a modification that would achieve her goals.

One day she was working on her new plan with the new re-invented gadget in the corporate coffee shop when Oliver arrives and orders a coffee over everyone in line.  Holland told him off and Oliver felt a spark.  In all the darkness that surrounded him, Holland provided a bit of light.  He pursued Holland, offering help with her project, without ever revealing his true identity.  He used his nickname "Hale" of when he was young and a surfer.  They work on the project, they harass each other, Holland keeps using him and scolding him and bossing him, and slowly brings him into the light.  I liked Holland, she was smart, spunky, snarky.  She had her issues that stem from her bringing up (won't tell to prevent spoilers) and she helps Oliver grow up and overcome all his issues.  Holland's foster-sister, Delia, is also a strong presence in the books, as is Pamela, Oliver's administrative assistant.

I liked the pace and liked the story.  I just felt that Oliver held tight to his issues and took a long time to overcome and understand.  Down that road he hurt and/or offended people, but at least he was big enough to apologize and make amends.

This book. It was amazing. The attraction between Holland and Oliver was scorching, from the moment they met in the coffee shop. This book was very well written and I would definitely read more of this author's books.

Perhaps a story about Pamela and Sam????

Good read..I just wish there wasn't so much back and forth in terms of misunderstandings all at the end. It felt like there was a bit of a rush to wrap it up.

This was one of those insta-love and indecisive love stories that could leave a reader a bit annoyed. For me, I enjoyed it so I'll be giving it a 3.5 star rating, but I will say that this story was absolutely quick with how everything progressed.

Holland is a girl that loves to plan and control everything in her life. If it doesn't go with her plans than she doesn't get involved with it. However, when she meets Oliver her plans are all derailed and make her start to question whether planning her whole life out is worth it. I thought Holland was quiet interesting. She worked hard to get where she was in life though she grew up a with a hard life. She never gave up, she kept working but became obsessed with controlling everything which became her downfall.

Oliver was a CEO and a jerk every now and then, but considering the things he found out following his parents death I could see why he was the way he was. I enjoyed Oliver, but I hated his indecisive ways. I just wanted to slap some major sense into him. Granted finding out the truth about his parents he had a right to get upset, but he should not have let it control his feelings and love he had for Holland. I am glad however that he was able to find out the truth and fully understand what family and love truly is.

The romance though cute annoyed the crap out of me because it was all so fast with how things happened between the two. I do love how they met and became close, but things seemed to go in a roller-coaster after Holland found out who Oliver was. Don't get me wrong they both had a reason to doubt things, but the constant doubting just irked me.

This was an okay read and a quick one as well.
