I've been waiting for Suzanne to release another Phoenix Pack book, or any book for that matter, for some time now. And the wait has been worth it! As always with her books, it grabs you right away and doesn't let go. It stays in motion from the get go right until the very end! There is always some sort of action or important information being said in conversations without the usual stale areas that drag on with boring information or too many pointless details of the scenery. So many authors do this and because of this, many readers/reviewers say it's because they can't think of anything else to say in there story and therefore it ends up ruining the experience we are having by getting lost in a bunch of nonsense information. With that being said, let me tell you a little about the book without giving too much away.

This book tells us about Tao, the Head Enforcer and Riley, the Raven who recently started staying with the Phoenix Pack. They had a rocky meeting, with Tao not trusting Riley, AT ALL and giving her a hard time. And Riley? She could care less what Tao had to say and showed it. However, they both had a secret yearning for each other that just wouldn't simmer into nothing, no matter how hard they tried to deny it. Then something shifts around them and Tao decides he wasn't going to take no for an answer and what Tao wants, he doesn't stop until he gets it.. Will Tao teach Riley that there is just no way to resist him? Even her well kept secrets weren't enough to deter him. But is Tao strong enough to handle Riley's attitude and strong willed mind? Will Riley be able to keep her past buried enough so she can move on? Or will it come back and put everyone she loves and cares about in harms way? On top of all of this, there's a new threat that's coming and it could tear away everything she holds dear. Including her sanity. Will Tao be able to help protect Riley and their pack mates? Will Riley show Tao that she is more than she seems and needs to learn to accept her and trust her? All of these questions are answered in the story and so MUCH more!!!

I highly recommend this book to all that have read any of the other books in this series (Phoenix Pack) and any who have not. You do not need to read the series to read this book. But I do recommend the other books in this series and the Mercury Pack series, so you can get familiar with other characters. I would also suggest anyone to seek out any of the other series which are: Mercury Pack, The Deep in Your Veins and Dark in You. Any and all of them are truly engrossing and hard to put down from start to finish. Happy reading!!! I received a free, advance copy of this book from the publisher via NetGalley in exchange for my unbiased review.

This book was incredible - deep, emotional, and hot - all without being gratuitous. Kudos to Ms. Wright!

Another great hit! I loved Riley and Tao and their sexual chemistry was off the charts. The book had all the snarkiness we've come to know and love with Suzannes heroines and of course her Heroes are just Alpha enough to be sexy bossy and not overbearingly annoying.

I really like this series. I think the author has really progressed in skill as the series advances. I do feel though that these are getting a bit monotonous. Something new needs to happen.

This is about shifters. In this we get a wolf, Tao, and a raven, Riley. Ripley has a past she that isn't sunshine and butterflies. She decided to leave her flock and ended up with the Phoenix pack. Tao is lead enforcer for the pack and has been a pretty major character in most, maybe all of the books so far. Looking at the past, the first book in this series when published, conatained some very erotica, even more so than what this series now contains, then later parts were edited out... lol. For some reason throughout this book I kept on thinking about a certain part in which Tao was involved, a very graphic part.. Anyways, back to this book. I really think this coupling was a good choice.

If you are a fan of this series, you know what to expect. If this is something you are considering then start from the beginning. Expect graphic sex, a bit more erotica than most shifter books, but not quite erotica. Of course you get mating, fun laughs, and zack great group of characters.

It's been a while since last reading a Phoenix Pack book, so the background reminders throughout the book were helpful. Riley and Tao fit well together. There story contains attitude, mystery, dominance (though not much struggle in most encounters between the two), characters without sanity, adorable children and the old dragon. There were moments that I was completely engaged and could not read fast enough. There were other moments where small details, or the lack there of, ruined the moment.

I liked getting to know Riley through unfolding events rather than being told everything. I also liked the suspense in finding the person behind the mystery. The author did a good job of casting reasonable suspicion on several people.

I liked seeing what was happening in Tao's head and his protective streak for Riley. He was cunning in his word choice and actions, which portrayed intelligence in studying his prey.

Overall this was a good adult read due to language and adult situations. There was a good mix of character personalities and levels of complexities. The Phoenix Pack world was created to allow different shifters to mate, which is different from many lycan tales. I had to stop rationalizing this idea and just read within the author's created parameters. I enjoyed Wright's creativity and her writing seems to suck you into its vortex; though I did not have a problem putting this book down when needing sleep, unlike previous books. 3.5 stars

Good addition to the series. The books in this series pretty much follow the same formula but it works. I have enjoyed them all. This book did have a slightly different feel to it, that could have been because Riley is a bird shifter. Loved getting to know Tao better and the scenes with the little ones- Dexter and Savannah. Can't wait to see who's up next and for new cubs.

Tao and Riley are just awesome. Tao is the head enforcer for the Phoenix Pack and even though he has acted like he doesn't like her he really wants her. Riley is a raven shifter that came to the pack with two small children, Dexter and Savannah.
When Riley is asked to go back to her flock to celebrate her uncles anniversary her past comes back to cause trouble. The Phoenix pack has some of their own trouble when a human comes a knocking on their door.

Four and a half
I've followed the Phoenix Pack stories since the very beginning and yes I read 'that ' book (Feral Sins)with its now apparently deleted scene . It's always been apparent how closely entwined this Pack is and I loved that they accepted new members who are not fellow Wolves which leads me nicely to Riley. Riley is a Raven shifter who we first met protecting orphaned shifter children in the shelter. When they needed somewhere to live the Phoenix Alphas didn't hesitate and now Riley along with Dexter and Savannah have somewhere to call home. Well it should be perfect except Enforcer Tao has been anything but welcoming ! So imagine my surprise when this book started with well what I'm tempted to describe as a 'bang'! Oh yes the author throws this couple straight into a sticky situation which just gets worse when Riley's past catches up to her!
I'm loving that this author is exploring the possibility of different species of Shifters. We've had Margays , vipers, cheetahs and now we are introduced to a flock of Ravens. What's even more amusing is the fact that just like the Phoenix Pack the Ravens too have a resident bitchy character but rest assured no one outdoes the vitriolic Greta! Although the Ravens to my mind just didn't feel quite as involved with each other as the protective Wolves do although as a non predatory species perhaps that's why.
This book is firmly about Tao and Riley opening up and accepting each other . I won't lie Tao admits freely that he's an asshole ( his words not mine ) and he is very dominant and tries so hard to get Riley to drop her defences and let him in. They are so different and seeing them come together felt right. Raven has immense sadness in her past and still struggles to cope with grief so definitely prefers to keep others at arms length. There are a couple of subplots going on throughout this story which brings danger to the Packs front door and keeps the reader guessing right up until the end. However for me it's the characters, their dynamics and of course the cute Cubs that kept me reading. So a hot and spicy romance with lots of snark plus cuteness overload as young predators show their fangs and claws and it leaves this reader very happy indeed. Proof indeed that opposites do attract!
This voluntary review is of an arc I requested from Netgalley and my thoughts and opinion are I believe fair and honest.

One of the things that struck me when I read Savage Urges, the book just before Fierce Obsessions was that in this world shifters are particularly nasty to each other. If I thought it was bad there, it is worse here. Fierce Obsessions once again highlights the absolute nastiness of the shifter world. From nasty Greta to horrible Cynthia to absolutely crazy Shirley, the shifter world is inhabited by horrible women who create horrible sons and weak or ineffectual alphas who can't control a fly let alone a pack or flock.

Once again, the Phoenix Pack (and now the Mercury Pack) are the only "good guys" in this maelstrom of ugliness. I'm not sure at this point if I should actually like the continued ugliness here. In Fierce Obsessions, especially, the ugliness is so female-centered even I have to ask myself precisely why it seems to coalesce there.

I certainly liked Tao and Riley and their romantic arc. I liked their characters and I liked how Wright shows differences between types of shifters. Riley's raven is cool and bloodthirsty and I really like that. Her tenderness with children is only eclipsed by her disdain for her flock. Tao has come a long way since he and his wolf hated Riley but I was sorry to not see more of his personal backstory. Certainly he's been in the other books and some of that is explained there, but here in his own book, he got a little shortchanged.

Two competing and yet somewhat intertwined suspense elements play out here: humans wanting to use Taryn's healing gift and Riley's relationship with her flock. Riley's flock and the mystery around her departure and return play a large part in who Riley is and why she reacts in specific ways. The climactic fight was amazing though and I liked how different it was from the fights in earlier books.

Overall I liked Fierce Obsessions but the female nastiness really bothered me in this book and that knocked me for six and reduced my enjoyment.

4.25-4.5 stars. This was a really good book! This ranks right up there with my favorites from this series, which is my favorite shifter series. This is Tao and Riley's book. Tao is an enforcer with the Phoenix Pack. Riley is a raven shifter who came to stay with the pack for sanctuary 6 months ago with young lone shifter kids from the homeless shelter that Mackenna worked at. Tao was suspicious of Riley when she first arrived, but gradually grew to trust her. Riley was attracted to Tao from the beginning, but didn't think he liked her. But one night after they both had too much to drink, they gave into their attraction and got together. Tao now wants a relationship with Riley, and though she is not sure he means it, she is convinced to give him a shot. They have to deal with trouble at Riley's previous pack but it only makes them stronger. They decide to have a forever relationship, and eventually find out they're true mates.

I really loved both Tao and Riley. They had great banter and sexy times. Tao was so sweet and protective of Riley. Riley was sarcastic and funny. They were so hot together too! There was very low relationship angst. I just loved them together. It was also fun seeing them interact with the kids, Savannah and Dexter, who became like their adopted children. I also enjoyed catching back up with the previous couples from the series.

There is a moment that gave me pause, when we found out the Tao had wanted to imprint on Taryn, the alpha female in the pack, before she was mated. I have read Taryn's book, but I had forgotten Tao's part. I wasn't bothered too much though. It was obvious that he really loved Riley, never loved Taryn and he never touched her. Riley was his perfect match, not Taryn. So I was okay with that.

Overall, this was a very funny, sexy, sweet, and suspenseful book! I loved seeing Tao and Riley's relationship develop. I can't wait for more from this series and Ms. Wright!

Werewolf stories are one of the standard go-tos for me when I start to think it’s probably time to conduct some science experiments with my husband, if ya know what I’m sayin’. They tend to average about 3 Stars, follow similar storylines and one blends right into the other. But I still request them almost every time I see one available because . . . . well, I'm kind of a slut. Sadly, Fierce Obsessions ended up being seriously meh for me. Am I going to have to turn in my slut card??????

Hopefully not.

While there were the trademark wolfy story things like ooooooh that smell – can’t you smell that smell???? (this time it was “harvest spice, warm apple and wood smoke” for him and “dark-red fruit, coconut milk and black lace” (WTF does lace smell like?!?!?!?!) for her), a mystery to be solved, the two leads hating each other (which meant they waited until like page 2 to start banging), etc. – the difference this time was that she was a . . . . . . bird bird bird, bird is the word.

There was also a difference with him. I read these books for quality assholes who talk about how alpha they are. But Tao? He was more like . . . . .

“You don’t get to tell me what to do just because we fuck.”

“Fuck?” It was a whisper. “We fuck? That’s it?”

If you guessed the dude said the first line, you’d be wrong.

I did get a little chuckle at the nickname “Fenris," but it would have been more impressive if she’d used Maugrim instead. I know, I know - NERD ALERT.

Anyway, things got worse for me when it came to the sexuals which had things like this happening . . . .

“He used one finger to scoop up some of her cream.”

Ew. That sounds like a yeast infection. Sorry husband, no science for you. Not to mention the trademark “claiming of her ass” that has to happen in all wolfporn WITH. NO. LUBE. W-T-Actual-F?!?!?!?!?!?!? I guess he just used all that extra cheese from her taco to grease the poopshoot.

So this one didn’t work out so great for me or my sploosh factory, but Val liked it okay and she’s a better wolf ho than I am so I’m sure she’s the one who read it right.

I love Suzanne Wright, even her daily FB posts make me laugh. I love how she writes her alpha men and her strong heroines. I love the family aspect and fierce loyalty the wolves have for one another.

Another great story for me, even though it also follows the same pattern as all the other books I still gobbled up the story in two days. BUT there was one thing I missed from Fierce Obsessions and that was the push and pull from the couple. I wanted more angst about them getting together or anything to do with the relationship, I guess I felt it came really easy for Tao and Riley and for me that kinda sucked. (LOL!) I wanted my heart strings pulled a little bit more in this one.

Still, a solid 4 star read and I'm already looking forward to the next book!

In case The Phoenix Pack series is new to you, I am going to give you a little background. Raven shifter Riley Porter left her flock and has been living on own when she ends up at a homeless shelter for shifters. It is there that Riley meets two orphan shifter children, Savannah who is a viper and Dexter who is a cheetah and becomes their guardian. When the safety of the homeless shelter is threatened, Riley and the children end up staying with the members of The Phoenix Pack.

Tao Lukas is the Head Enforcer of The Phoenix Pack and body-guard to the alpha's. Tao's focus is always on the protection of his back and ever since Riley arrived he's been a thorn in her side, accusing her of being trouble and bringing danger to his pack. To say he isn't her biggest fan is an understatement.

Now, onto Fierce Obsessions:

When Riley wakes up with a raging hangover after a night of partying with the pack, she finds herself in bed with Tao Lukas. As if the headache and nausea wasn't enough, now she has to figure out how to deal with an awkward morning after. Sure, she's always been attracted to Tao but she wasn't going to chase after a man who doesn't like her no matter what their chemistry was like. Certain that Tao will want to forget what happened as much as she does, Riley is caught off guard when Tao tells her he has no intention of forgetting what happened. Not only that, but he has every intention that it happen over and over again.

Tao Lukas wanted Riley the first time that he saw her, but Tao doesn't do change or trust people easily so he didn't just accept her joining her back at face value. Once he realized that Riley wasn't there to do any harm to his pack, he also realized he had to be sneaky if he was going to have her in his bed. Tao's pretty guarded, but Riley is even more so so he has had to wait until she wouldn't see him coming. After a night of tequila shots, Tao has finally found himself in her bed and he'll take whatever approach he needs her to keep her there for the near future.

When Riley goes back to her flock to celebrate her uncle's anniversary, Tao insists on coming along. With the relationship between them so new, there's no way he's letting her get away from him that easily especially since Riley has never indicated she plans to stay with the pack. Once events unfold that make it clear there Riley's emotional health isn't the only thing that he needs to be worry about Tao wants nothing more than to get her back on pack lands where he knows he can keep her safe. Riley, stubborn as ever isn't going anywhere until she gets to the bottom of who is targeting her and her friends and family in the flock.

I enjoyed watching Riley and Tao circle around the reality of the fact that they were in a relationship from the moment they got together. Each was in denial for their own reasons even when their friends and family could see clear as day that they were meant to be together. I especially adored the relationships they both had with the Savannah, Dexter and Kye and the fact that the children were given as much emphasis in the relationship building as what happened between Riley and Tao. Given the personalities of both of them I think it was the only way to make the relationship believable as it built due to how important children were to each of them in different ways.

As always, I enjoyed the most recent glimpse into The Phoenix Pack and I look forward to seeing them again in future installments (fingers crossed).

Riley Porter, raven-shifter, has been with the Phoenix Pack since the shelter she was living in was under fire from humans and a demented Alpha. Tao Lukas, Head Enforcer and all around bad-a$$, fought against Riley being allowed into their territory. Secretly though, he craved Riley's touch and is more than interested in a no-strings fling with her. Riley might be on board with that as well...as long as neither tries to take it any deeper than that.

Of course, things never go easy for this pack of shifters and danger is around every corner. Can Tao and Riley keep things simple between them or does Fate have other plans? And will the danger surrounding them put a stop to any plans they might even think about making? Read for yourself and find out. *Note: While each story can be read as a stand-alone, for better understanding and enjoyment, I recommend reading all the books in both the Phoenix Pack and the Mercury Pack series.*

I love this series by Suzanne Wright. Her characters are fun and engaging, the storylines are interesting and imaginative, and the sexy-times are super hot. I enjoyed this book very much, although I did think it moved a little slower than some of the other books in the series.

*I received a copy of this book from the publisher, Montlake, via Netgalley. My reviews, thoughts, and opinions are honest and my own.*

4 stars.
Basically speaking I really love this author's work. I have read all the books in this series and have rated them all 4 stars or more and Tao and Riley's story was no exception. By now I pretty much know what to expect from these paranormal shifter romances(they have a distinct formula) but that in no way diminishes any of my enjoyment reading these stories with their over the top alpha males and sassy females.
They are way fun and very addictive.

As a fan of Suzanne Wrights Phoenix and Mercury pack books I was really looking forward to this book. I have enjoyed the glimpses of Riley and Tao in previous books and was intrigued about how there relationship would progress. Unfortunately this book was a bit underwhelming dare I say a bit boring. I liked Riley an d all her kooky facts but I didn't feel the spark between the characters. Tao declare that they were in a relationship and that was it , as a reader you didn't really get emotionally invested in them being together, unlike in previous book in the series. Overall the book was enjoyable but not a must read..

I've said it before and I'll say it again...<b>I adore Suzanne Wright books</b>.
And I adore the books in this series.

Yes, they all have OTT alpha males.
Yes, they have somewhat exchangeable snarky lead females.
Yes, these females <i>always</i> have epic one-liners.
Yes, they always argue with Greta the grouch.

In fact...not gonna lie...

Book in this series pretty much follow the same basic pattern.

And you know what?

<img src="https://s-media-cache-ak0.pinimg.com/564x/11/83/4c/11834c47d0d51bb8dfe07112671a298e.jpg" width="423" height="279.75" alt="description"/>

Because this formula totally works for me and I dig it.

Now, I know some people like complete and total <i>originality</i>.
Or flowers blooming...
And birds singing to groundbreaking soundtracks or something...

But me?

<img src="https://s-media-cache-ak0.pinimg.com/564x/ae/cb/84/aecb84b5ab1e57ef00ea301c42439292.jpg" width="423" height="352.5" alt="description"/>

Now, I understand that this isn't everyone's bag.

In fact, people who have read and loved other books in this series might feel like this is just more of the same.

Which it kind of is.

In fact, someday, I too might reach the point where where I am over the formula and want something different.

<img src="https://s-media-cache-ak0.pinimg.com/originals/88/11/a5/8811a5faca1fec43a5ea26e377d857de.gif" width="500" height="188" alt="description"/>

And until then I will keep scarfing this shit down like a whale with some krill.

Now, moving on.

Fans of the series will remember that Tao had a 'lil <i>thang</i> for Taryn in book one...I was a little worried about how Wright would vault that little hurdle, but never fear, she manages it.

I loved the glimpses of Riley we got in the books preceding this one and she was definitely awesome. I especially loved her being a raven shifter - and the first non-predator shifter we have had so far, folks - so take <i>that</i> originality.

What I loved the most about this book though is that it jumped <i>right</i> in from the get go.
<i>RIGHT</i> in. *wink* *wink*

I also enjoyed that we got to spend some time with a raven "flock."

The plot line here was a little weak in some aspects, I must say, but again...

<img src="https://s-media-cache-ak0.pinimg.com/564x/11/83/4c/11834c47d0d51bb8dfe07112671a298e.jpg" width="423" height="279.75" alt="description"/>

Other than that, this book brought all the stuff that I love from Wright and, as always, I look forward to the next one.

4 ‘Borrowed not Stolen’ Stars

Let’s be honest here. I am a fan of the Phoenix and Mercury Pack, as I have read every title in the series and I am always in a state of anxious anticipation for the next release. Needless to say, I gracelessly leapt on the opportunity to read the advanced copy of Fierce Obsessions from Net Galley. And this book did not disappoint, filled with sassy characters, interesting shifter dynamics and – of course – hot sex.

Riley Porter is a raven shifter and protector of the adorable shifter children, Savannah and Dexter. She was first introduced in Savages Urges as Makenna’s fellow worker at the lone shifter shelter, and circumstances lead her to seek refuge for the children at Phoenix pack territory. The only problem she faced from being fully accepted by the pack was Tao Lukas, head enforcer and incredibly suspicious of outsiders. He wanted her gone. So not the best start but interesting enough to find her waking up after a tequila-drenched party to have Tao naked in her bed. The two move quickly from fling to ‘something more’ as Tao is not one to avoid a problem and Riley appreciates upfront behaviour.

The romance was refreshing after so many of the other couples had a long, slow road to romance – often hindered by their own omissions and hesitancy to bonding. This couple pulled no punches, their blunt natures fuelled their passion which sped into a devoted relationship. Riley and Tao natures perfectly suited, as Tao would bluster and Riley would just roll her eyes and ignore the ranting. Another refreshing development was their pasts were not something hidden or not spoken of, as they maintained an open channel of communication and respect. So, I was not surprised when the mating bond snapped into place fully formed, it was great to have a couple already so in tune with each other that they didn’t have to prove anything more.

I thoroughly enjoyed exploring deeper into the shifter world, as the raven shifter mentality and customs differ to the wolves. Riley’s past, which shaped her approach to relationships, was curious as she was affected by two tragic events but was still surrounded by loving friends and family. I like that true mates can be found across species as it opens the field for so many other shifter species to be introduced into both packs.

Another excellent addition to the Phoenix pack series to be released June 13th and the perfect romance to spice up your summer/winter reading. (Or indulge your sultry senses upon the entire series)

Warning: I am not a robot! I have feelings, thoughts, likes and dislikes and this review is based on that. You should read the book to form your own opinion/thoughts. Read on!

Rating: 4.5 BlackBlue Stars!

The cover, is ok, it looks kind of the same as the others in this series.

The story, we are to the phoenix pack! Trey! This is my personal opinion, but I am glad I got to see more of Trey, lol. I am stressed with these packs, they are always having someone wanting to kill them. This time there are two separate events to want to damage one or more packmates.

Riley is a raven shifter and is now living with the wolves. Her old pack believes that she manipulated a bullied raven into a mass shooting, killing a lot of 21 year olds. Due to grief they all believed she was to blame, especially the mother of the shooter. She wants to come back for her uncles’ party and after she does, people start getting shot, particularly the ones that were supposed to go to the party where the mass shooting was but didn’t attend and saved themselves. This had a bit of a mystery and it took me a while to see who it was. For true mates being hard to be found, these couples sure have a huge amount of luck, most of them have found their true mates, just saying. There is something that I still can’t see how it happened, one of the kids gets stolen from Trey’s shoulders, from Trey? My feral wolf?

We all know Taryn is a healer and a drug lord wants her to fix his brother and he will not stop for anything to get Taryn to save him. She can’t and won’t do it since it will hurt her. This bad guy tries to kidnap Taryn but he doesn’t take into account that he is dealing with wolves and Trey.

The romance, I liked that Tao finally had his mate, he truly didn’t care about the true mate thing and was willing to commit to Taryn, we all know that crashed and burned. I did believe their love, how Tao treated Riley, he cared about what she thought.

Riley, all I kept thinking was, I want her hair, characters kept referring to it, that it was a trait of ravens when in human form. She was fun to read, I loved how she loved and defended those kids.

Tao, I loved how he accepted when he was wrong, this is a trait that has disappeared from males.

Overall, did I like the book? Absolutely, any SW book I love. Would I recommend the book? Yes, you are probably going to love it.
