Aztec File by Dale A Dye
4.7/5
Well, not what I expected but what a novel. This is the seventh novel in the Shake Davis series but can be read as a stand-alone novel. A powerful thriller which could be happening yesterday, today, tomorrow.
Strong, well rounded characters written with great insight. Well thought out plot and obviously well researched.
I hadn’t heard of Dale A Dye before the Aztec File but I will be reading more of his novels. Thoroughly recommended.
I received a copy of the Aztec File from NetGalley for an honest, unbiased review which I have given. Many thanks.
Really explosive, high octane action thriller that will have you on the edge of your seat. Although I understand it to be part of a series, not having read any others did not stop my enjoyment of this book. If you like McNab, Hassel, Cussler etc, then you will definitely like Dale.A. Dye!
This was a well written story that could have been a real life report. Some great characters and written in a way that kept the story flowing. Non stop action from beginning to end and an absorbing read.
Shake Davis is wonderful character, with all of the traits we have become accustomed to associating with the best of our military. He and his band of veterans work to deter a dastardly terrorist plot. Suspense filled plot and complex character development. This was my first foray but won't be my last!
What can I say? I love to read books where the heroes save the country... I like how the story is more about patriotism rather than romance. In fact, you can hardly find romantic scenes in this book.
Lots of cuss words are thrown here and there. But, if you can overlook it, then, this will be an interesting book. Looking forward to other Shake Davis' adventures.
A great thriller, with lots of action and interestingly drawn characters.
3.5 stars. The Aztec File is the seventh book in the Shake Davis series. Even though this is part of a series, it can be read as a standalone. There is a lot of violence, this is a suspense thriller involving terrorism, so it might not be suitable for more sensitive readers.
The book blurb adequately describes the storyline so I'm not going to repeat all of that info here. This is a thriller that could be out of today's headlines. It is filled with terrorists who are determined to bring their jihad into the United States. As usual, everything is not as it seems. I look forward to reading more of this series.
I received a copy of this book from NetGalley and Warrior Publishing Group. I chose to write a review for other readers.
Aztec File is a good read. It's my first venture into the Shake Davis series. Shake, is, of course, a super-hero sort of character who always seems to be in the right place to save the day. He is surrounded by loyal friends and lots of weapons. The incident in this novel where he disarms a bomber and his bomb seemed far-fetched. Overall it is an enjoyable novel, and I am sure I will read another one.
Thanks NetGalley for the ARC.
Really renjoyed this book,it was full of action, got the balance right with terrorist and drug smudging, you won't be disappointed with this book, well written.
A quick, easy read. I like that it was written by a "been there, done that" retired soldier. What I didn't like was the "guyness" (my own word) of the book... where if written by a soldier, about a soldier... it has an inordinate amount of foul comments, over the top cuss words, and references to female bodies, and thoughts of sex with said female bodies (not sex or making love with HER, BUT with her body or parts thereof).
To me this brings what would have been a really great book way down to a two and a half stars.
I was given this ebook by Net Galley to read for a review, this is my honest opinion, written in my own words.
