Forced into marriage by their king in order to stop years of inter-clan feuding, Sorcha Campbell and Malcolm MacGregor are each determined to drive the other away. Malcolm knows he can never trust his new shrewish wife, despite the fact that everything he observes seems to prove that she’s not only trustworthy, but utterly perfect for him. Sorcha knows she can never let her guard down around the man she believes betrayed her father, yet the longer she’s with him, the more she discovers he is nothing like she was led to believe.
The first book in the series & a well written, witty & entertaining romance. I love enemies to lovers & this book had lots of witty banter & humour & I thoroughly enjoyed their journey to a HEA

This is another great read by Ms McLean about Sorcha and Malcolm. Their families have been enemies for generations. Sorcha and Malcom were attracted to one another at a masquerade ball but in no way did they want to marry. They didn’t even know one another. The next day, tired of the family feuding, the king orders Sorcha and Malcolm to marry. They had no choice and were not too unhappy about it. They separately contrived ways to get out of the marriage. This story had many twists and turns and kept my interest until the end. After being in each other’s company they slowly learned about more about one another and realize things are not all that bad. There was some seriousness and some hilarious times as Ms McLean really knows how to engage her readers. I thoroughly enjoy her books. I received a complimentary copy of this book from the publisher and NetGalley which does not affect my review.

Warring clans? Yep.
A marriage designed by the king to unite lands? Yep.
Enemies to lovers? Duh.

This book is so good. It was a easy read and the characters of Sorcha and Malcom were ones you are rooting for. A great read. I will look into more books from the author.

Enemies to Lovers set in the Highlands, sign me up!

I love this spin on the enemies to lovers trope, Sorcha is a strong fun heroine with a can do it attitude. Malcolm is set in his thoughts and doesn't realize until it's almost too late what a wonderful woman she is. I liked the spin at the end, and the marriage day/ night plotting scenes I got a kick out of. A great read and I can't wait to read the rest of the series.

I loved this swoon-worthy love story!

All my favorite tropes are exquisitely combined in this delightful romance.

Scottish Highlanders? Check.
Forced Marriage? Check.
Enemies to Lovers? Check and double check!

Sorcha and Malcolm are forced by King Charles to marry with only two hours' notice, in order to put an end to the generations-long fighting between their two clans. Despite being instantly attracted to each other when they'd met the day before without ever knowing each other's names, neither wants to marry their sworn enemy. They've got to go through with the wedding - but nothing was said about them STAYING married!

Like the Kate Hudson movie, both Malcolm and Sorcha have their own agenda and reasons for wanting the other to seek an annulment. This part is brilliantly executed, with neither one wanting to trust the other, yet in the social setting of a Highland castle there's a lot that brings them closer together and forces them each to reconsider their futures. There's plenty of steam between these two, and many laugh-out-loud moments as they each try to derail the other. Ultimately, it turns out that not all is what it seems, and there's a common enemy that's at the root of all the hostilities.

The author does a fantastic job of creating characters that are relatable and authentic, especially the main characters, while also giving us secondary characters who are well-developed and contribute significantly to the overall story progression. I thoroughly enjoyed every bit of this book and devoured it in one sitting. I highly recommend it for anyone who loves Highlander romances. I voluntarily reviewed an ARC of this book.

Good Enemy to Lovers Romance:
Sorcha at the masquerade ball comes across Malcolm dressed as a lion. From there this terrific engrossing story begins. I loved the entire cast of characters along with a very strong plot. A lot of angst but when the romance took over my heart was captured mostly by Malcolm, but Sorcha came around to make this story have a very happy and heartfelt ending. The epilogue was thrilling and sweet.
Adult advisory.
Heat level: 2 out of 5.

This was a fun, relatively quick read. I liked the premise of the story – Taming of the Shrew mixed with How to Lose a Guy in 10 Days. However, Sorcha’s behaviour did become tedious although thankfully not very detailed. She did redeem herself once she got to Malcolm’s stronghold and worked with the MacGregor household. Malcolm was almost saintly with his patience with Sorcha. Ach! Give me a strapping Scots man in a kilt any day! There was a small mystery regarding the rivalry between the Campbell and MacGregor clans that could have been developed more. I thought the resolution of this mystery was rushed. Mild steam. Lovely epilogue. Fun read.

Forced by King Charles II to marry, two sworn enemies tussle in order to get the upper hand and force the other to get the blame for their marriage failing. However, neither took into account how stubborn the other was and when it looks like bickering, sniping and insults could be their forever life, will they take another look at each other and decide on a different future? Loved it, highly recommended.

This one was a fun read! It was my first Highlander romance, and it definitely won't be my last. I will say that I was expecting way more spice based off the cover, but this one was still cute.

I really enjoyed the cultural elements in this one. It was so fun to read about all the festivals and traditions, especially because they were real occurrences. They made our main romance even more fun than it would've been.

As for the main romance, it was sweet. Enemies to lovers is one of my favorite tropes, so of course I enjoyed the enemity and banter. Their gradual connection was cute, and had my attention caught.

I'm super tired right now, so I'm done with this review, but I'd recommend this one! It's not super smutty, but it is a sweet historical romance.

Thanks to Entangled publishing for providing a free copy in exchange for an honest review!

The Campbells and The MacGregor have been feuding and been enemies for generations. Both accusing the other of horrendous crimes from raiding, stealing livestock to abducting farmers daughters! Laird Campbell's has had enough and petitions the King to settle this feud. He wants King Charles to settle this rival and answer for his crimes. He demands his daughter Sorcha attend his side, hoping to catch the King’s eye if possible.

Sorcha won't play the whore, but she is not against some innocent flirtation. This is to distract the King, to possibly persuade him on their side of the feud. The problem is The King has become fast friends with the outlawed MacGregors. As they helped the King and became fast friends on his recent exile and fall from grace. What Campbell does not know is: Malcolm MacGregor found a couple Campbell's on his property raiding. These thieves are now in his custody, sitting in the dungeon awaiting punishment.

The night before the hearing with the King- there is a masquerade ball. Sorcha finds herself attracted to a masked man. The masked man was also attracted to this beautiful creature. Sorcha and the masked man had a little interlude and shared a passionate kiss. The attraction and chemistry is instant and sizzling hot!

The following day, after her father and Laird MacGregor’s meet with the King. Sorcha feels betrayed and devastated with the King's final decision. As she sees the man from the masquerade ball, is none other than her father's worst enemy - Laird Malcolm MacGregor!

The two Chiefs start squabbling and accusing each other of many crimes. The King has heard enough, as his patience wears thin, he found only one solution. That is a forced marriage between Sorcha Campbell and Malcolm MacGregor. Laird Campbell is appalled feeling no man is good enough for his only daughter. Especially the rotten weasel MacGregor! His enemy and his families for generations! Then he worries if MacGregor would take his hate out on his daughter, possibly abuse her physically.

When Sorcha hears this news about her future she is devastated! However, her maid comes up with a plan of how to lose this highlander. Yes, she has to marry him, but there are ways to get out of the marriage. No, that does not include murder. The one thing she cannot do is consummate the marriage, so she can declare him incompetent. This is so she can get an annulment. As Malcolm's dear cousin John also says to seeking an annulment, as his only resolution is by declaring Sorcha insane!

Will two people so attracted to each other be able to go through with these deceitful plans? Yet, as they get to know each other they realize the hateful, spiteful images, they have of each other is not true at all. As they soon find out they are each others soul mate, fate and destiny. Or will they go their separate ways? Afterall, being brainwashed and conditioned to think of each other in a very tarnished light. Will they be brave enough to take a chance possibly on love?

Will they have this marriage null and void? Will their beating hearts become entangled or beat as one? Will all this deceit just turn into heartbreak, destruction and betrayal? You will have to read this phenomenal read to find out. I highly recommend it!

This is my first book by author Michelle McLean, which is absolutely spectacular! I was totally captivated and mesmerized from start to finish. It is a fast paced, page turner, that I just could not put down!

It is filled with all the elements Scottish historical romance readers love. This novel will leave you breathless, with a storyline that has so many twists and turns - not knowing what could happen could possibly happen next.

“How To Lose A Highlander” by Michelle McLean is absolutely brilliant! I can’t recommend this book enough! I can hardly wait for the next book in “The MacGregor Lairds” series!

***Disclamer- I received an advance readers copy from the publisher. I voluntarily agreed to do a fair review and blog through netgalley. All thoughts, ideas and words are my own.

Malcolm MacGregor has went to court to get the king to intervene with the constant attacks by his enemy. He didn’t expect the king to force Malcolm to wed his enemy’s daughter, Sorcha Campbell. Sorcha’s is furious that she’s forced to marry her father’s enemy. She’s determined to drive him nuts enough to refuse the marriage.
I really liked this story. I liked both characters. I liked watching as each of them slowly changed their minds and hearts about each other. I highly recommend.

"How to Lose a Highlander" by Michelle McLean tells the story of Malcolm and Sorcha, forced to wed to alleviate tensions between two families. While not overly happy with this scenario, the two fight their attraction for each other and try to one up the other throughout. It does make for some fun times but I did think it went on a little too long. Sorcha is a feisty one, not the typical timid lady often found in historical tales. While I liked her feistiness and sass, I did feel it went a bit overboard at times. Malcolm, our sexy Scottish Hero, is just that - sexy! I liked him a lot and his treatment of Sorcha impressed me, even when she might not have deserved his kindness and patience. Throughout the tale, there are some tears shed and some chuckles here and there. This is an enjoyable read that, while maybe not over the top exciting with adventure and not overly HOT, it was still fun to watch Sorcha and Malcolm maneuver their way on their journey. Ms. McLean, a new author for me, did impress me and I look forward to reading future (and past) works by her.

I love reading Campbell vs MacGregor stories so I jumped on this when it was offered and I wasn't disappointed.
In trying to end the present feud between Malcolm MacGregor and Angus Campbell, King Charles II orders Campbell"s daughter, Sorcha to Marry Malcolm. Calamity ensues because, of course, neither wants the marriage.
Thank goodness Malcolm has the patience of a saint because I was ready to choke Sorcha. Yes, she drove me nuts. Malcolm on the other hand, he is a hard working Laird trying to take care of his people and not upset the King in the process. I don't want to give too much away but Sorcha does redeem herself.
This is a fun, witty, and at times serious story. There is a lot of witty banter that is sometimes downright hilarious. It's also captivating, entertaining, and thoroughly enjoyable. I'm looking forward to the next installment of this series.

How to Lose a Highlander (The MacGregor Lairds, #1)
I laughed a lot. The comparison to Taming of she Shrew and How to Lose a Guy in 10 Days threw me off my game a bit but it had highlanders. I was not real sure what I was going to get. This was a historic highlander romantic comedy. This was light, fresh, well-paced and full of fun. This was my first read from Michelle and I had fun. This was about a feud but more occurred. There was not the overstated drama, but there was sparks.

Malcolm has had enough of the reckless Campbell’s stealing his property and terrifying his tenants. Adamant that the attacks are not provoked by him or his people, he goes to a masquerade ball to speak with the King. Sorcha has had more than her share of admirers, but she would not settle for just anyone. And she wouldn’t dream of marrying a McGregor, whose been their rival clam since her birth. When the two encounter each other without knowing each other’s identity, things get even more interesting.

In order to settle the feud, the king demands them to wed. Neither wants to lose their head (literally) by refusing, so they each – separately- come up with a plan. To get the other one to request annulment, blaming the spouse for the dissolution of the marriage.

I understood Sorcha’s plan and ambition to carry it out; but the fact is, after a while she came across as just plain childish. She worked my nerves as much as she did Malcolm’s, to the point that I almost closed the book. However, I’m glad I didn’t. One paragraph reminded me of why I initially liked her, and my tolerance level increased.

I love me a Scot, and Malcolm is no exception. His jovial, but alpha personality had me hooked. He was a saint when it came to dealing with Sorcha, but he didn’t let her run all over him. Once they reached his home, things improved greatly. The staff had my attention, and Sorcha gained even more favor. I enjoyed the comradery between Malcolm and John. There’s a bit of suspense. I was sure at had some things figured out; and when I realized all wasn’t what it seemed, I couldn’t help but to smile. I love me some twists. Kudos to McLean.

Despite my temporary eye-rolling-ready-to-put-the-book-down moment, I really enjoyed this story. I recommend it.

Sorcha and Malcolm are forced to marry to end the feuding between their colonies. They are not happy about it and plot against each other throughout. Can they ever be happy?

This was a funny light read. I got annoyed at Sorcha at times because I felt she went over the top with her plotting but by the end I liked her. I wish we got to see more about when her father came instead of going straight to the epilogue. It felt like it had been leading up to that and then bam it ended. Overall it was a good story though.

Where should I start but saying a huge thank you for providing a copy for review. I'm one of these readers who is very fussy about historical romance and rarely give higher than a three star for them. This highlander book scored a five start within the first few pages.
I was completely blown away by the strong plotline. The highly strung emotions and the sheer attention to details
I absolutely loved Sorcha and Malcolm. Sorcha would have made any weak man run for the hills the minute she started her screaming, complaining and her childish behaviour but not Malcolm. To be quite honest I felt sorry for him. Two weeks traveling with her would be insane.
One thing I loved about this author was her ability to make you FEEL the same thing these characters do. At one point I was so angry with Malcolm I was actually hissing at my kindle. I laughed, cry and huffed over this sweet as hell Romance. This author was added to my favourite historical author list.
This is a huge must read for lovers of strong, funny, stubborn highlander men.
