What an absolute super read! It is a buy buy buy buy buy book with a five star rating from me!
Open with entertaining, witty, warm, passionate, stubborn and contrary. From page one to the final ending you are totally engrossed in the story. This book had all the elements of the fantastic read that is hard to come by. Fantastic characters, chemistry, a good plot line, passion, romance, witty, humor and love. Each part of this story was enchanting for me. While I love regency, I must admit this Highlander book has me totally caught wanting more! The author is definitely talented. I am awaiting the next book and can only hope the series continues with five star ratings even though this one would be hard to beat! I was given this book in return for an honest review. Anna
I received an advance reader copy in exchange for a fair review. Loved the book. It is well written and has a great love story. Sorcha and Malcolm forced to marry by King Charles came to find a strong love between the two of them. Typical highlander story, clan fighting is part of the story but only a minor part. I would highly recommend this book.

My Thoughts:
This is a relatively quick read with multiple layers to the storyline, I however felt it jumped around a bit.
I did like the read but thought maybe the story could have been a little more in depth with the relationship more explored.
I have read the Shakespearean play/story and watched multiple times the romantic comedy "How to Lose a Guy in Ten Days" so I can see the comparison but this version of the story just left me hanging at times.
I gave this book 3.5 of 5 stars for storyline and characterization and a sensual rating of 3 of 5 flames. The heat is more implied than actual.
I received a complimentary digital copy of this book from the publisher to read. This in no way affected my opinion of this title which I voluntarily reviewed.
I received this from Netgalley in exchange for an honest review. The romance was very well done and I enjoyed all of the adventures and feuds that made a very entertaining read.
I received this from Netgalley in exchange for an honest review. This was book one in a new series by Michelle McLean. I loved this. It was a fun romantic tale and I just couldn't put it down. The only thing that gave me pause was the ending. We spend the whole book with many raids occurring and the only explaination is an half brother that we never knew about? Yeah, I wanted more from that but the romance was well done.
The men at court sound like sissies.
Burned by the king, Campbell!
Well played, Charles.
I'm thinking she'd be better of with Malcolm than with her father.
Okay, how are they going to make him unable to perform his wedding night duties?
Eel? Um, I like a lot of things, but I'm not sure I could ever get used to eel.
I'm glad marriage consummations don't have to be witnessed anymore.
At least she didn't drink from the wrong cup...?
And that's why you should always bandage your cuts.
Well played, girl.
Next time pick a thicker stick.
That'll teach you to judge a book by its cover, Malcolm. And didn't you rush her back so you could check on your tenants? She's only doing what you wanted.
I'd kiss her feet, bud. Pronto.
Aw, it's so cute how she wants to show off her baking to him. But Mrs. Byrd standing over my shoulder would make me nervous.
She has to use a feather instead of a spoon? That sounds really hard, and unsanitary.
Haha, Tim is always ruining the moment!
Why is Bertha trying to cause problems? Ugh.
Oh, I like these customs, especially the blessing.
John's got his priorities straight, apparently.
That's a long name for a baby.
Nice set-up for future books.
I really liked this historical romance by Michelle McLean. AN interesting plot and wonderful romance. Thanks!

Sorcha Campbell’s father may be a highlander but and she obviously part Scottish but she’s been brought up by her English mother in England. She’s lived at court most of her life and she doesn’t want that to change. She’s been proposed to many times but her father has turned them all down as no one has been good enough for her.
The Campbell’s and the MacGregor’s won’t stop raiding each other’s lands and the king decides that it must come to an end. The king decides that Sorcha will marry Malcolm MacGregor and make the two families kin. No one is happy with the decree but they can’t go against the king. Sorcha decides to do everything she can to make him get an annulment and strangely enough, Malcolm has the same idea. After the marriage the pair just frustrate the hell out of each other to no avail. Sorcha gets to know the people of the MacGregor clan and she starts to doubt that all of the horrible things her father had told her about them were true. She starts to find a home and decides that she needs to try to make hers a real marriage with Malcolm. Unfortunately Malcolm finds it hard to trust – especially a Campbell.
This was a great little story. I really liked Malcolm and Sorcha and their plans to irritate each other to death in order to get an annulment. It didn’t work with either of them but it was funny. I admit that did get old rather quickly and was happy when the author moved on to getting the pair together. It was done slowly but very well and I thought it was nice that Sorcha didn’t go from hating Malcolm to loving him. It took a while and that was a good thing.
Overall I thought it was a cute story. I’m interested to see who the next Laird in the series is so I’m sure I’ll be reading the next book when it comes out. :)

It's too funny, Sorcha and Malcolm are both quite entertaining, and their banters made me laugh so much. They're obviously attracted to each other but they simply cannot forget animosity between their clans. So, even though King himself decreed their wedding, they must find a way out of this mess. They can't stay married for long. And hence the war began....
Sorcha tried her best to be the worst wife possible, she acts like a shrew, and drives Malcolm crazy. Malcolm on the other hand tries his best to ignore her, their is no way he will be the one to cry off their union. Then his clan will suffer King's disfavour. He will have to wait. He is sure that his wife won't be able to stay with him for long and soon all his problems will be resolved...
But soon they are going to find out that things aren't always what they seem. May be then they will give their marriage a chance... who knows it may end in a happily ever after.
This novel was a very good read. I enjoyed the plot and the personalities of the main characters. This novel contains romance and learning not to judge people based on where they come from.
Sorcha Campbell and Malcolm MacGregor are forced to marry by the king to stop the feuding between their clans. Both clans have been raiding each other and have led to deaths. The king feels a marriage could stop the raids. However, Sorcha and Malcolm have other ideas. They both do not want this marriage and try to out do the other. They are both trying individually to annul their marriage and blame fault with the other. It provides for some good entertainment what each of them tries to do to the other. They both get frustrated with the other and creates much tension. Sorcha acts like a shrew and tries to drive Malcolm away. Malcolm deals with her shrewdness, but can only handle so much.
Sorcha has a very strong personality and has trouble believing Malcolm about her family attacking his tenants, but she is also kind and helpful. As she gets to know Malcolm, and he her, they both want to try to make their marriage work. Malcolm sees the improvements she has done to make his home more habitable. He is a strong character and cares deeply for his people. He begins to trust and fall in love with Sorcha. However, when a raid close to the castle makes him question Sorcha's loyalties, it puts their love for each other to the test. Can they overcome this trial or will it destroy them both?
