The yin to his yang.
Just like his tattoo.

The magic that surrounds Anson and Devon is one only Donna Grant can capture. Their romance is born out of trials, tribulation, and betrayal, albeit in a short time span. But isn't that what we have come to expect from true soul mates? They connect instantly and then hang on for the ride.

Anson and Devon’s individual backstories are very similar. A profusion of loss and heartbreak. Anson (and the rest of the Dragon Kings) had to send his dragons over the dragon bridge to save them from complete destruction.Devon’s father was nonexistent, very rarely visiting her before his death.

The Dark World series is # 2 of my all time favorite series. The Dragon Kings in particular. Behind Outlander. But not by much. In this episode (I call it an episode because it plays out like movie in my mind's eye while I'm reading) Kinsey, Esther, Henry and Anson travel to London to get more insight into Kyvor, Kinseys previous employer. They need to be taken down before they do more damage to the Kings. Enter Devon. Ryder and Kinsey (from Smoke and Fire) have deemed that Devon is the person for the job. If they can get through to her and convince her to help them.

We get a peek of our favorites at MacLeod Castle, (yay!!) a particularly interesting conversation between Inen and Rhi. And later some bad*ss magic courtesy of Anson. Epic I tell you. Epic.
The mysterious Druid.... Ulrik...

The fight against Kyvor takes you from battles in a Kyvor warehouse to the halls Dark Fae Palace. Of course Ryder is working his genius behind the scenes at Dreagan. And you know things are hairy when he has a box of untouched doughnuts.(gasp!!!) Well Kinsey is out in the thick of things after all.. And Con is at the top of his game. As always. I might be slightly obsessed with the King of Kings.

The Blog! I have to mention the blog featured in the story. (Mis)Adventures of a Dating Failure. No it's not a real blog. Yes I actually checked. Lol. Yes I'm a dork.

Donna Grant continues to outdo herself with every new release. You can always count on her stories to be filled with steamy romance, lots of action and sexy Dragon Kings who just happen to be hot, hot, hot highlander's.

'Blaze' by Donna Grant is book 11 in the "Dark Kings" series. This is the story of Anson and Devon. I have been jumping in and out of this series so for me this was a standalone book.
Anson is a Dragon King shapeshifter who is trying to get the jump on a company called Kyvor with a hacker that tried to break into their company. To do so they need to get Devon on their side to get the secrets of that company...and to help bring it down. Anson and his crew start slowly at first trying to bring doubt into Anson business world. Devon is on the fast track at Kyvor but is unaware of what some of the things that company does. Anson is opening her eyes to allot of things that have been going on.
Anson isn't to excited with humans, but he is finding Devon who is a human hard to resist. Devon who loved to be in a relationship but hasn't found a man yet that isn't imitated by her and her job.
Will Anson be the man/Dragon for her?
Ms. Grant writes so exceptional stores that take you into a very exciting 'world'. This book was another hard to put down story...loved it.

4.5 Stars!
When I was offered by the publisher to review this story I was ecstatic. I'd read Ms. Grant's work in the past but life caught up with my TBR pile and she was regrettably pushed to the side. Unfortunately, and to my horror, I didn't realize the story was book 11 in a series so while the writing was terrific and the premise was gripping there were just so many characters for me to keep up with. I admit there were a few points that I felt a little sad that I didn't know what was going on fully but it didn't deter my enjoyment. I liked not having read the previous books and could easily come into this book and not feel lost.
Anson and Devon were the featured couple but their love story was only secondary to the whole epic showdown that's going to happen in the future. From the first meeting to falling in love was a quick journey but fulfilling nonetheless as the story went on. This magical world has captivated me, making it a top priority to play catch up with the rest of the series. Dragons abound, people!

Anson (Dragon King) & Devon's (Human) story:

This is a continued plot line with Anson and Devon as the main focus. Devon works for Kyvor, the company that targeted Kinsey (previous book in series). Kinsey, Esther and Anson are focusing on Devon hoping to convince Devon that Kyvor is not the company she thinks it is and to spy on them for information. What they find out is that Kyvor has targeted Devon like they did Kinsey. Anson wasn't expecting to fall for Devon and now wants her out of danger.

This series is kind of complex with the many characters and different species and figuring out who they are working with or against. It's a very creative story and plot line and I love how the author has worked in the characters from her Reapers series into this plot.

The timeline of this book was working almost side by side to the timeline of the previous book that was focused on Demetri and Faith.

I love that this focuses on Dragon shifters since there are not many quality books out there that does. It's a fun series and I'm looking forward to continuing with it to see how it all ends.

Overall Series Review: Fun, fast paced PNR series. Great storyline, characters and suspense. Mates for life, protective alphas and many foe. Main characters are the dragon kings along with Dark and Light Fae, Driuds, Reapers and humans. This is a continued storyline focusing on a different couple per book.

Although this is the 11th book in this series, it is the first I have read. Ms. Grant does a wonderful job with her world-building so I was able to follow along, though I can see where having read all the books before this one would have made a big difference in my enjoyment of this book.

Anson is the Dragon King of the Browns, and he doesn't care for humans.. He's in London trying to find information to take down the tech company that released information to the public about dragons. He's also responsible for protecting two women who want revenge against the tech company after it used them against their will to further its' own cause. They decide the best way to get to Kyvor is from the inside.

Devon is the human that Anson and the others want to recruit as their inside contact. It will take lots of convincing to get her to betray Kyvor as she loves her job and is very loyal to the company.. Will they succeed in winning her to their cause? And will Anson be able to work with Devon, given how he feels about humans? Read for yourself and find out. It's an interesting book overall but I wish I had read the other 10 books first. for maximum enjoyment.

* I received an advance copy of this book from the publisher, St. Martin's Press, via NetGalley. My opinions are honest and my own.*

The Dragon Kings are back!!! I must admit that I haven't had the pleasure of reading this series from the start. However, after reading Firestorm, I was hooked! I enjoy paranormal romance. So to have an array of supernatural beings living all over England, Scotland and Ireland, with their own histories and legends is like a dream come true. As for the Dragon Kings? Who wouldn't love a group of incredibly sexy virile men who are able to shift in to dragons at the drop of a hat and who when finding their mate will do anything and everything to protect her? To answer that very long question - I truly can't imagine anyone!

Anson is the dragon king of the browns. He has been tasked to go to London to follow and protect a high ranking employee of Kyvor. The tech company who has been causing trouble for the Dragon Kings. Kyvor specializes in surveillance. Not only the lawful kind but also the creepy, stalking kind. They have previously stalked and even hypnotized Esther and Kinsey, now it seems that they have set their eyes on Devon Abrams. If Ester, Kinsey and Anson can convince Devon to infiltrate Kyvor's files, they can finally determine who it is that the company is working for and put an end to it.

Devon Abram's whole life revolves around her work and career. She has no family left and her dating life is a disaster. After a series of awful dates, all she wants is a man, a real man who won't be threatened by her successful career and who will protect her and love her fiercely. She has no idea of the nefarious workings of the company that she has been working for for so long. So when a group of strangers approach her with proof of the danger that she is in, she starts seeing the world in a whole new light. Especially when she lays her eyes on the sexiest man that she has ever seen. A man that calls to something primal in her.

A story filled with dragons, fae, druids, magic and excitement. Not to mention steamy love scenes. I have truly become addicted to this series and can't wait to see what will become of Rhi, Con, Esther, Henry, Ulrik and all the other mystical creatures in this series. Not to be missed by fans of paranormal romance!

Blaze (Dark Kings #11) by Donna Grant. The ever-evolving Dark World continues with more stunning Dragon Magic. The Dark Kings are in a critical situation of epic proportion, working to retrieve vital information from the tech company Kyvor. Dreagan needs someone on the inside at Kyvor and Devon is the perfect candidate. Conscious of the danger present to her and her career, she agrees to help Dreagan after viewing compelling evidence against her employer. Blaze takes place in London along the same timeline as Firestorm (book #10). With two independently strong characters, the reader adequately feels the magnetic push-pull between career oriented Devon and Anson a powerful Dragon King male who only wanted a dragon for a mate. Entertaining and intense, the battle forges on with all the fundamental elements of a fantastic storyline. A five star addition to the series. If you enjoy any of the Dragon King Series, this is one to pick up. I also recommend the LaRue Series by this author.

Publisher's Description:

His strength, his masculinity brought out something primal within her. In his arms, she felt like the Amazon warrior she’d once pretended to be as a little girl.

Anson is a fierce Dragon King, a dragon shapeshifter born and bred to protect his own. But when a rogue tech company hacks into their world, he must join forces with the unlikeliest of allies: a human female. Her name is Devon Abrams. A rising star at the firm, she has no idea that her boss is in league with the sinister Fae and their secret war against humanity. If Anson gains her trust, he can defeat the enemy from within. But first he must fight his own attraction—to this exquisitely beautiful mortal…

Devon loves her job at the firm. But sometimes she wishes she could find a man—a real man—who isn’t threatened by her success. When she first meets Anson, she’s overwhelmed by his powerful masculine presence and disarmingly gorgeous smile. But when he reveals his true mission—and his ability to transform into a dragon—she’s irresistibly drawn into an epic battle between humans and immortals, magic and technology, danger and desire. Anson vows to protect her from the Fae. But can he control the flames of passion that blaze within his heart, in Blaze, the next sexy Dragon romance in the Dark Kings series from New York Times bestselling author Donna Grant.
My Thoughts:
Fae, Dragons, and Druids along with other supernatural beings,...
If you are a fan of this genre I don't see how you could go wrong, though I personally prefer lighthearted over violent.
The sensual parts to this book and the mystery about who is behind the deaths and mayhem kept me reading.
Anson is a Dragon King. He shifts from a brown (bronze colored) dragon to human almost at will. Devon is a young woman employed by the company that he knows is behind what is going on that is dangerous to the continued existence of his race.
Can an unbelieving young woman make herself believe in something that is frankly mythical in her mind? Will her attraction to Anson continue after he reveals his true self to her?
I gave this book 3.75 of 5 stars for storyline and characterization and a sensual rating of 3.75 of 5 flames.
What started off as a very good story to me digressed into something that was not about love, but about violence. This book would otherwise have scored higher with me.
I received a complimentary digital ARC of this book from the publisher via NetGalley to read. This in no way affected my opinion of this title which I read and reviewed voluntarily.

Donna Grant has done it again... BLAZE ... Anson and Devon's story grabbed me from the beginning and never let me go. I always enjoy revisiting the other Kings and their mates and seeing what Rhi, Ulrik and Con are up to. Donna always gives you your HEA (for now) but leaves unanswered questions. Who is Rhi's King? When will Con get his mate?. Will Ulrik mend his ways? Who is this new Druid? Also are Ester and Nikolai the next story? All I know is I can't wait......

I really enjoy Grants storytelling but think I would absolutely love it if it was written in first person. I'm invested in the characters but I know 3rd person just takes that additional closeness away.

When you crack a Donna Grant novel, you know you're in for a treat. BLAZE brings us back into the world of the Dark Kings with a situation critical already brewing, electrifying chemistry and action intense suspense that grabs the reader and keeps them hooked till the end.

I received this ARC copy of Blaze from St. Martin's Press. This is my honest and voluntary review. Blaze is set for publication May 30, 2017.

Devon is a rising star in the tech company where she works. Anson is the leader of the brown dragons and, determined to take down the man who is attempting to destroy all dragons. Problem is that, in order to get in to find enough evidence, Anson needs to use Devon to find a back way. Devon is a human, which is a huge problem for Anson. He doesn't want to use someone who could die while trying to help him and, he also doesn't put the woman he has serious, flaming ,feelings for, in jeopardy! Devon, on the other hand, is determined to do whatever she can in order to help this strange man who brings out feelings in her that she never knew existed! This is a fascinating, fast-paced, action-packed, steamy story that I really enjoyed!

Finally is all I have to say!! I am happy that the Dragons are finally being able to see that it might not be Ulrik every time something happens. I did enjoy this book as we found a lot of new things out that we didn't know. I also am so happy to see the Warriors and the Druids again. If you haven't read that series yet I would highly recommend it. The only thing I didn't like was it seemed too rushed for Anson and Devon characters. I just didn't feel like they really got to know each other. I felt this book was really about all the other stuff going on and I'm okay with that as there is so much going on that it was nice to get some answers.

This was my first book in the Dark Kings series, and I have to say I was absolutely blown away by the worldbuilding! I was also impressed that I was able to follow along with the story, despite the fact that I missed the first *TEN* books in the series. That shows the level of attention to detail that Donna Grant has put into her books, which is gratifying to someone who doesn't always want to start with the first book just so they can read the fourth or seventh book in a series.

Devon Abrams is the key. She is a loyal employee at Kyvor, and Anson knows that she can help him find out who was responsible for the kidnapping and torture of two wives of his fellow Dragon Kings, Kinsey and Esther. When Anson reveals to Devon the true nature of the company she works for, she decides to assist them in bringing Kyvor down. However, the mission is dangerous, and when something goes wrong and Anson is forced to reveal his true Dragon form, Devon must decide if she can trust her instincts and the man who loves her.

Devon was a spitfire - I loved her tenacity and the pleasant dichotomy of her vulnerability and strength in the face of danger. She understood the importance of Anson's mission, and she risked her life to help him. I was behind her from the very beginning, and I felt a uniquely strong connection to her that usually takes many chapters to develop. The author did an amazing job making her relatable and genuine. Anson was an alpha male, given that he was a Dragon King, but he didn't let that turn him into an obnoxious chauvinist, as so many alpha heroes become. He recognized Devon's strength, and while he wanted to keep her safe, he understood when she put herself in danger to protect him. Their love felt so real, it leapt off the pages!

I also got to know several other stories as well, from previous books, as the point-of-view focused on a number of different relationships and characters within the Dragon Kings' world. For instance, I am really interested in Rhi, a Light Fae, who was once the mate of the King of Kings. She is a strong character and one I am eager to learn more about!

Excellent book by Donna Grant! First one I have read by her, and I can already tell she is going to be a must-read for me going forward. Eager to read the previous books, as well as whichever book will be next in the series.

I always love returning to the Dragon Kings world; throw in the warriors and druids, Rhi and Balladyn, and you have a great story. More hints are being dropped as to the true nature of Ulric and Rhi's Dragon King. He talked!! To Rhi when she was eavesdropping in on the mating ceremony at the end. So excited that he might be making more of an appearance. I am worried about Balladyn though; he really does love her, so I am not sure how DG will handle that triangle when it comes to a head. Anson and Devon were a cute couple and I enjoyed their adventure and love story. There were no gaps in the plot, no dry spells while reading, it flowed well from beginning to end, and kept me interested the whole time. But that is what I expect from a DG novel, they are never dull or unsatisfying. Love the world she has created.

An engaging read with a captivating storyline…

This is the eleventh book in the Dark Kings series.

Anson, the Dragon King of the Browns is on a mission to take down the technology company that has amassed detailed information about the dragon kings. He must also protect the two women with him as both want revenge against the company that used them for its own agenda. They’ll need inside help and have identified Devon Abrams as the best person to help them if they can convince her to do so.

As he stakes out their intended target, Anson ponders what the dragon kings have lost and what the best options are in this war going forward, perhaps the enemy is right yet he’ll protect those he’s sworn to. He’s stayed away from human females but can appreciate the beauty of Devon who strikes a chord in him that he didn’t expect or wants yet it’s a connection he can’t stop; some things are inevitable.

Contacted secretly by three strangers, Devon doesn’t believe the outrageous story they relate, that magic and other types of beings exist in the world strains her sense of credibility but her curiosity has been piqued. Seeing proof that she’s being surveilled by her own company shatters her innocence and opens her eyes to the naiveté she’s held about what they do. She didn’t excel in her career shying away from tough projects and needing to know more she seeks the information the strangers need and it could cost her everything.

The male stranger is the finest specimen of a man Devon has ever seen; she finds herself more than physically attracted to him. Is it just lust from not having a personal life outside of work because the men she’s met aren’t men enough? Or is there a reason she’s inherently drawn to Anson? Her life is about to change dramatically. Will she survive it?

I don’t know how this author does it but the continuing plot just gets better and better. I loved this book. It’s an engaging read with a captivating storyline, it’s fast-paced, and filled with intrigue, action, and suspense. There were so many intricately woven threads to the fabric of this universe the author has created, things occurring simultaneously, events overlapping timelines in the previous books and it all flows smoothly. Many characters are working their own agendas and we are given multiple points of view. This reader loves that the dragon kings are questioning their status quo and coming to their own conclusions, they don’t blindly follow, everyone is accountable even those considered respected. Who will win out at the end is anyone’s guess. Each new set of characters fascinates me, Anson is a powerful, passionate and profound dragon king. Devon is amazing, though doubtful at first she’s a strong woman capable of accepting the new truths to her existence. For this reader the heroine says it best: “Dragon Kings, Fae, Druids, and Warriors. What more could a girl want?”

An advanced reading copy was obtained from the publisher via NetGalley.

This book was good. If you like shifters and a good fiction book I would recommend it

When I began reading this story I didn't realize it was book 11 in a series so I felt rather lost at times. The writing was good. the premise was interesting but there were just too many characters for me to keep up with. After a while I realized most of these characters were probably featured in previous stories in the series. Anson and Devon were the hero and heroine of this story but I felt that their love story was only secondary to the whole epic showdown that's going on in the series, and it was rather rushed. From the first meeting to falling in love was a rather quick journey, even for a romance novel. I think I would've enjoyed this story better if I had read the previous ten books in the series, so I didn't appreciate it as much as I should have. It's a shame for me because this magical world sounds really great.

I have been a huge fan of Donna Grant's books now for a while and I have eagerly awaiting the release of each of her books, so naturally I was thrilled when I was contacted by her publishers and asked if I wanted the opportunity to read and review her latest release Blaze!! How could I say no!

I can honestly say that I loved this book, the characters were superb and I thought that the plot was darker than some of the other books in the series, I really enjoyed how this book linked through to other books Donna has written and tied them all together bringing back the Druids and Warriors in to the Dragon King series.  I will admit that I struggled to put the book down and I really need to read the next book in the series right now to see what happens next in the series, I don't think Donna could write the books fast enough for me!!!  I think for me that this is probably the best in the series so far, I loved it - 5 stars no hesitation and really looking forward to the next already!!!!
