An absolutely beautiful travelouge, with amazing photos. The photographer really knows his stuff, and it's clear he enjoys his work! I enjoyed the essays that went along with. Great for a coffee table book.

I loved this photographic travelogue. The pictures of the flora and fauna in and around the Hudson Valley made me want to bump it up my list of places I definitely have to visit. I've always wanted to see that area of the United States an Adamovic's book just added to that desire. I highly recommend it for anyone wanting to visit the area, especially if hiking is a part of that trip.

I enjoyed this arm chair travel through the Hudson Valley. The book is organized by season beginning with spring. The text includes the history and the natural history of the area. The photographs reflect this as well. There are photographs of the smallest turtle as well as panoramic views of the area. There is a lot of general information of the area. At the end of the book is information on visiting the places. This is a beautiful book to look at. It also encourages you to go out see the places in person and what to look for. Enjoy the journey

Beautiful photography. As an native Upstate New Yorker I can honestly say that Adamovic has not only captured the landscapes but the spirit of the area as well.

Beautiful photography with minimal narrative. The book is divided by season with sub-topics. The largest section is the first: Spring with sub-sections for Waterfalls, Bogs & Ferns, The People, Wildlife, and Orchids. Each section has a brief introduction which is followed by a series of photos which are notable for beauty, presentation, and often providing close-up views. This is especially welcome with wildlife presentations including birds, vole, black bear, frogs, etc. At the conclusion is a section called Getting There which contains thumbnails of earlier photos of various site locations with address and directions provided. An enjoyable journey.

A beautiful book of photos set in the Hudson Valley. As a New Yorker who calls the Catskills my main hiking ground, I was excited to see that there would be a book of photography from an area near and dear to my heart. The pictures themselves do not disappoint, nor does the write up throughout the book. Even better? At the end of the book it tells you how to get to different locations that are photographed in the book.

As a book of photography, it would be nice to see some basic EXIF information. The biggest drawback are the lack of photos of the outdoors during winter. With how gorgeous the summits look in the winter as well as the frozen waterfalls and all the skiing available, it's unfortunate the photographer focused on indoor objects. While it's not the Adirondacks, the Hudson Valley is gorgeous in the winter and I think the book misses out on that.

One of the things I want to do is drive though the Hudson River Valley. I have travelled though part of it by train. In fact, the Amtrak ride from NYC to Montreal is a stunning, beautiful trip. I highly recommend everyone take that rail journey at least once. I do, however, want to drive though part of those towns.

And now, after reading this book, I have a couple more places I want to stop.

Adamovic looks at the Hudson valley though the lenses of seasons. Along the way, he hits places of historical importance – such as Sleepy Hollow. The focus is mostly on the glorious scenery. Adamovic places the wildlife in context, in other words it is just seasonal behavior but also text that details the fauna and flora. The end of the book contains a location map and directions, making the book a practical work of art.

The photos of the flowers and animals are quite beautiful, including those photos of insect eating plants. The deer photo in particular was adorable.

I'm an Oregonian, so I know pretty much nothing about the East Coast, let alone the natural world in the Hudson River Valley. I've never been there. But, the first thing I must point out: WHY ARE THERE RATTLESNAKES ON THE EAST COAST?! I thought there was at least one region where I could avoid those terrifying bastards! Gah. Anyway - if you're curious about the flora and fauna of the Hudson River Valley, this book is very enlightening.
