It wasn't until AFTER I read this that I noticed it was originally a WattPad title...and unfortunately it showed. The writing is at turns choppy and then suddenly the protagonist devolves into a three page monologue of angst. This would have been so much better with heavy, HEAVY editing and about half as long. After slogging through to the end, I was sadly surprised to see that this is a planned series and the story ended unresolved. I cannot even imagine MORE angst and lovelorn declarations. The author does interject a side-plot for spice towards the end--a threat to the couple's future--but it just isn't strong enough for me to care to read the second volume to see how they overcome it. This read so much like a millennial version of Wuthering Heights with an obsessive male character and his fairly clueless love interest. Also, I still can't figure out why the first sentence of every chapter has every "t" capitalized; I can'T decide if iT is a weird gliTch in The eARC or if iT was some sorT of gimmick ThaT was losT on The reader <=see how annoying that was? This title and author have such potential if the pub would just edit the crap out of it.

"Metal has to go through fire to melt and be turned into a sword." <----- SUCH A POWERFUL statement!

I really enjoyed this story.
There were moments of extreme power.
Then some of sadness and sweetness.
And life...

This cover drew me in. The words kept me engaged and I really liked the characters.
I can't wait for more Red.

I devoured these words like I'd never read again. Amazingly done. I didn't want to stop reading for anything. Loved the characters and the story flowed really well. Would definitely recommend you read this book. I voluntarily reviewed an advanced copy of this book.

This one is another that just didn't work out at all and I ended up DNFing it shortly after 55% which I am surprised I even made it that far. This one didn't have much character development and WAY TOO MUCH DRAMA. I really did like the premise of boy falls for homeless girl while he is helping her but it just didn't work out for me.

This book put my back up almost from the first page. We met Caleb, Mr "l just love myself and can have any girl I want and now I'm sooooooo bored by it....". And it went downhill from there. Poor character development. Repetitive storyline "I can't trust. I can't trust. I can't trust". Not for me

I thought this book was ok but it was hard for me to finish. I think I got tired of the drama all the time. Veronica doesn't trust anyone. Sure she has her reasons but give someone a chance before going off the deep end and assuming the worst. Caleb is a playboy that wants to be reformed by Veronica aka Red. Yes he has a playboy past and Veronica should be aware of that since she knows him from college.

The book does have some heartwarming portions - the fact that Caleb is willing to wait for Veronica to be ready before they have sex is a positive one. Plus Veronica is wanting to improve her life situation and she can go nowhere but up. Then there is Kara - who I actually think makes the book and might even be somewhat of a scene stealer. Sure Kara has issues, but she is witty and wacky.

I think there is more to Veronica's past and we only got a glimpse through a nightmare. It made me wonder what else she hadn't said yet.

I was surprised to see that the school had lockers. I'm not saying that colleges don't have them, but I have never heard of them in a college before. It reminded me of high school. Also, I thought I had read that Veronica was in college studying culinary arts but there is never really any mention of what sort of classes she is taking. That might have been an interesting twist since they mentioned classes and exams in general but nothing specific.

I finished this book late last night because I couldn't stop reading it then real life demanded attention this whole day while I was itching to write about this book and how I'm desperate for the next book.

Something I only saw after I got the ARC of this book was that it was a Wattpad story. I'm so proud to see people getting recognised by theirs stories like this. I love authors that came through the publish houses but I have this special place in my heart for people who started their books in the internet just because they felt like it, just because they are so passionate about their mind that it doesn't matter if they are paid to write it. I just love! So I was pleasantly surprise with that news and went right to the story. Firstly I will put a tiny bit of the summary right here so you guys can check it out by yourselves!

The more I read, more into it I was getting. Red is passionate, is fierce, is fiery and shy, she cares so much about the people around her and of not hurting them that in the end she is the one getting hurt. I could see myself in some of her moments and my heart was always shouting for her, if I could I would have wrapped her in my arms to just cuddle and soothe her but knowing her by now she would piss a brick. That's when Caleb's get in the picture.

He's the classic womanizer tired of this life, wanting something more but not knowing what until he sees her. It's a romantic story, it's sappy, it's cheesy, you know what will happen but can't stop your heart from beating faster and your mouth to smile after every single fluff scene between them. Caleb is so self-assured, so into his skin that it's envious to read. It took me so much to like me for me, so many years where I hated myself for being just me that I really appreciate characters like this and Red too even when she has her moments of weakness.

Caleb makes your palms sweat and your stomach to have butterflies all over again. I loved is charisma and his easiness. He has a fire that you can only cheer for him when he goes all full conquer to get Red's heart. It's not an easy task since she fights every single corner with him.

Kara is Red's best friend and can we take a moment to just idolize her? She's so funny! So sassy, so fiery, so badass. I couldn't stop laughing in their scenes and to weep with her every time her heart broke seeing Cameron which is Caleb's best friend and her ex-boyfriend. There's a bit of mystery in there since we don't know what happened between them that broke them apart but I ship them so hard, I want them to go back together and see how sassy Kara deals with Cameron's ass for a change.

We have other characters too, the ones where is up to no good that you dislike from first line on the page they first appear to the mysterious ones you're still figuring it out.

The book ends with a little cliffhanger that got me awake the rest of the night unbelieved that it was the end of that book. I just hope I get the change to get the ARC of book two so I can read before it releases I don't think I can wait until November to know the rest of the story.

And I really really really hope that Isabelle will write a book just for Kara and Cameron's story. I feel like she's doing it on purpose because she can create a whole new story with them as main characters. I would love if that happened! *fingers crossed*

So romance lovers I really recommend this book. Of course like every single one it has its down moments where you where what the heck?! but overall I loved the writing style, I loved how she developed the characters and how easily the story kept its pace.

If you are into teen and young adult angst, then "Chasing Red" is for you. The story of Caleb Lockhart and the girl he nicknamed "Red" the moment he saw her, "Chasing Red" is as contemporary as the dysfunctional families of today.

While we assume that everyone – young and old - are dealing with the impairment that surrounds them, it looks like society might be winning the battle of everyday life but losing the war of surviving intact.

Caleb and Red are the protagonists but there are many supporting characters that have their own plotlines interwoven with the main plot. Everyone of them is interesting but you will have to choose which one is your favorite.

"Chasing Red" is Rated M for Mature due to adult situations.

I’ve not been reading many new adult titles of late, mostly because the drama and immaturity brings more drama to my life, in a time when I really don’t need it. But, after hearing about this title and the buzz from the wattpad release, when it was published with Sourcebooks, I decided to take a chance. Firstly, you need to know that this is the first half of the story, and there is a cliffhanger. No big deal, if you are aware, but that may affect your decision as the conclusion isn’t available until November. Now, this is a new adult romance, so the characters are immature and prone to a ton of back and forth from their issues, so if you want a more mature approach to a romance, it won’ be here. But, I digress……

Veronica is spoilt, self-centered, snarky, suspicious and difficult. Even with someone who is trying to be helpful, she’s always looking for a catch. Sure, there are issues in her past that make much of this understandable, but truly, she needed to approach life and situations a bit more openly. She was also really guarded with readers, which meant she wasn’t even close to gaining empathy: in fact, I spent most of her page time looking for something to redeem her. Then we have Caleb: also in his own world where things come easily and quickly, where he just expects things to be good. Sure, that’s not a bad way to live BUT he takes it to an extreme, and contradicts his own approach to the people in his life constantly. He’s reacting to Veronica’s inability to trust with his own issues – and it comes out to two people second guessing one another’s motives.

It sounds difficult to follow because it was – or rather, the interest that I would have had with some character growth and development didn’t exist – Veronica and Caleb arrived, got together amidst overly frequent bouts of drama and questions, and left – neither appearing to have incorporated any lessons learned from their experience, that may help them in future. What I never do, and I did frequently, was look for ‘how many pages left’, as this experience was painful and proves, yet again to me, why every book is not for every reader.

I received an eArc copy of the title from the publisher via NetGalley for purpose of honest review. I was not compensated for this review: all conclusions are my own responsibility.

Oh man....I loved this book. I'm not sure what grabbed me the most about this book. I loved that Veronica is a strong woman on her own -- a little broken but strong. I loved that she didn't cave to the hot guy Caleb. I loved that she didn't let him become the center of her whole world. And I loved the "pancakes."

Caleb has everything- good looks, wealth, and a great future ahead of him. Caleb was also MVP for her college basketball team.Caleb’s best friend was Cameron. Claire was trying to get Caleb yet again and she was trying to hard and Caleb looked around for Cameron or Justin to help him out of this situation as he didn’t want to hurt Claire’s feelings but Caleb was interested in finding the girl in red he had been staring at and nicknamed “Red” . They were at the club and he had been watching Red on the dance floor. Then Caleb hears someone say “ hi baby” and wrapped her arms around his waist to get him out of Claire’s grasp and then she said he is with me and then she said lowly “ aren’t you”. She wasn’t beautiful in the classical sense but Caleb thought she was totally engaging. He put Red arms around his neck and whispered in her ear ” where have you been. I have been looking for you my whole life”. Then Red stepped away and said “ she’s gone now you can buy me a drink for saving you”. Then Caleb asked her what she wanted and Red said “something strong tonight I want to forget”. Then Caleb asked her if she wanted to leave to go somewhere where he could help her forget. Red then pushed away and said nice meeting you buutthole and then she turned and left. Caleb could not believe that Red had rejected him as that never happened. Red’s real name was Veronica. Caleb is relentless in his pursuit of Red but she won’t fall for his playboy ways. Veronica is homeless as she was kicked out of her apartment and Caleb offers to let her stay in his spare room until she gets back on her feet. Veronica had a very bad upbringing and has bad trust issues Veronica had been starved for love and affection for a long time. Caleb slowly breaks down her walls but Veronica is too afraid to let him in her heart. And be heart again. Veronica ends up with a new best friend named Kara.
I liked this story but had mixed feelings and more on the negative side than positive side. I felt Veronica was a little too immature even with a bad past. But I did like her and Caleb together. But I did get tired of Veronica pushing Caleb away. He was being very good to her. I loved how Caleb was so devoted to Veronica - his Red-. But I also felt there was too much drama in this book yet not a whole lot of action. Sometimes I laughed and sometimes I did choke up. While reading this. I did feel there was a lot of repetition in this book. Then to top it off I was thoroughly disappointed when it ended in a cliffhanger. So as I said I had a lot of mixed feelings.

Boy meets drunk girl at club, saves her by bringing her back to his place and then asking her to move in with him the next day because she is homeless. Spend most of the book doing nothing but introducing side characters that must make appearances in next books. Boy teaches girl how to live and be adventurous and drop her walls until dun, dun, dun he messes up and girl flees from him and his house. How do stories like this still get published? Look how many DNF reviews are up on this book. Smart people. This book is not worth your time to read. There are better books out there. I hated about every word that came out of Caleb's mouth, cringeworthy. Veronica needs to spend time focusing on herself and getting her life together not chasing a relationship with a douche. Seven days it took me to get through this :(

This book was full of emotion. It drew me into the relationship between Veronica and Caleb and had me hoping for them all the way through. I didn't like how it ended though. It did make me want to read the next though.

I received this ARC in exchange for an honest review. This book held my interest and is very well written. I recommend it highly.

Really bad writing and too much drama. Can't say much without being mean, but this really was not the book for me.

I tried.. I R E A L L Y tried to read this book because I hate DNF an ARC I receive especially by a POC but I just couldn't make it through this story. The characters and their drama was a little too much for my liking, but I'm positive that this book will find the right owners to love it. Sadly, I am not one of those readers.. I also couldn't look past the whole "yes he's claiming me - she's MINE - and it's sexy as hell" thing because I cringeeeee .. :(

This story was much more than I thought it was going to be. I expected some college slapstick humor, along with lots of manwhore behavior. What I got was a great story full of romantic angst.

Veronica has a very good reason to not trust men. She’s a strong independent woman and she has no need for anyone to save her. Caleb has a natural protective personality. It’s his nature to want to take care of those in need. When he learns the woman in red is homeless he offers his spare bedroom as a place to stay. He doesn’t hide the fact that he’s attracted to her.

Caleb immediately sets aside his player ways because there is only one persona he wants to be with and that’s his Red. She’s his everything. Now if he can just convince her to give him a chance. I loved how dedicated to her he was. From the moment they meet he’s all in and there’s nothing that’s going to change those feelings.

Unfortunately, this had some other woman and other man drama which cranked the angst up to obscene levels. I’m not a huge fan of this particular ploy but I accepted it for what it was. After all, it works for this story. My heart was absolutely breaking at the end although I felt Caleb picked a really awful time to push for her trust.

This was a slower paced read that sometimes bogged down under the weight of these characters internal musings, but overall was enough to make me want to know what happens after this huge cliffhanger.

I first started reading this story on wattpad and once I found out it was becoming published I was ecstatic. By far one of the best love stories I've read this year and I can not wait for the second book. I really enjoyed how the characters can relate to some people and how they are so complex. Every detail in the book made it even better. I definitely recommend.

I do like Chasing Red, don't get me wrong. I first red it on Wattpad, and this published version has changes/differences to do with Veronica's past - I do like these changes, as in the Wattpad version they were just - far fetched? Yeah. A bit out there and confusing.

Anyways, the writing is good but the problems lie more within the plot line. There isn't really much plot or action at all? And I in no way mean that as a sort of pun towards Caleb/Veronica but really?? Most of the book just revolved around them trying to resist sleeping with each other and their other various relationship issues. I mean...it was okay, but wasn't really entertaining enough. And then, about 83% of the way into the book the drama and plot begins to unfold with the "fork in the road" conflict with Beatrice-Rose and Veronica realising it's time for her to stop running and fight.

This no doubt leads into the sequel. However, I feel like a lot of this book could have been cut down and Chasing Red/Always Red could've remained together as one book. This one really just felt like a really looooooooong lead up to the sequel.

Caleb was probably the most developed character. Where as with Veronica, it really took until about the 98% mark for her to have some sort of development. I just feel like throughout this all there was too much back and fourth on the personality. Yes, this goes with Veronica and her uncertainty, but as a reader it can get boring reading about someone for like 300 pages going "should I? Shouldn't I?" Then the whole *drama* happened and this all worsened and ugh!

I did also quite like the female friendships. They were there for each other and didn't put each other down and that was cool. But their friendship just mainly seemed to revolve around the men in their lives and not about them??? I think every conversation they had was about Cameron / Theo / Caleb or being interrupted by a man. So yeah. It's nice to see friends being supportive, but maybe show that women can talk about other things apart from clothes and boys??? For example - Kara is a boss. And that's kick ass. She came into this book as a fiery business woman but that quickly went downhill, soon enough she was just another girl with *boy drama* and it was sad to see her reduced to ONLY that. So yeah. These girls and their friendship had their strengths but I'm only hoping this can also be developed in the second novel.
