This sneak peek is everything. Re-entering the Jackaby world for this fourth installment was comforting, exciting, and it oozes details that just beg you to read more. While 50 pages is a generous sneak peek, I'll be even more thrilled to read this final book in this series when it releases in August. It's mixture of fantasy, paranormal, and mystery are simply intoxicating in the best way. I hope to post a full review after reading the full book. Thank you for this wonderful excerpt!

I don't usually read samplers but I couldn't pass up this preview of one of my most anticipated books of the year. And while this was only the barest taste of why this series is so amazing it gave me that flavor and now I need the rest.

Loved the sneak peak! The only thing that bothered me was that I really wanted the rest of the book. The story is just as engaging as the previous two books and I can't want to read the whole book!

An absolutely stunning beginning. Each book in this series so far has been brilliant and this seems like it will be no different: the introduction of supporting cast and build up of mystery had me captivated immediately, and I was completely hooked by these opening chapters. The prose and Abigail's voice are both as strong and wonderful to read as ever, and I can't wait to see where this story goes and how this amazing series will come to its conclusion.

I definitely should not have read this early teaser/sneak peek of THE DIRE KING but it has definitely amped up my excitement by a loooot. If only I didn't have to wait until August..

So so looking forward to the finale.

Get excited, kids. The finale of the Jackaby series is here and its called "The Dire King." In this volume, Abigail, Jackaby, and friends dive into the supernatural world of faerie and have to fight off magical, world-ending disaster. The preview chapters set up the quick pace and the twisting story lines that considerably raise the stakes from the other novels. As the characters fight to defeat the Dire King, the series is fighting for that satisfying ending that we all want.

The Jackaby books are the type of book that, even if you're not a fan of the supernatural, you still love it because the characters are so well animated that they really come to life. The fairy genre is not my cup of tea, but I find myself still intrigued with the characters and their contributions to the story.

Based on the first five chapters, if "The Dire King" keeps up the pace, the characters and their mystery will lead to a fantastic adventure.

Simply great start for the ending of the Jackaby series.
We pick up right where we left off and are already introduced to some majestic characters. Jackaby and Abigail have their hands full and I cannot wait to read more.
August can't get to soon!

Is it August 22nd yet?? Because seriously, I anticipate this book being the best Jackaby we've seen yet! From the first page, the book is unputdownable! So far, we are seeing more characters, more of London, and more supernatural creatures than we have had in the series so far. William Ritter is delivering everything we have been waiting for in what I think will be an amazing climactic battle for London and even humanity. I am so incredibly excited to read the full book. I have no doubt that I will sit down and read the full book in less than a day. I wasn't fully on board with Jackaby in book 1. Book 2 he grew on me a little. Book 3 we finally heard a little bit of background and now in book 4 the whole gang needs to come together so we'll see what Mr. Ritter has in store! Thank you for the sneak peek!

I love this series so much and I'm so excited (and bummed?) to read the ending, but the stakes are so high for this last book that I devoured it in about 20 minutes. The sneak preview that is, not the whole book. It leaves off at a cliffhanger and you just want to keep reading and ahhh.

This author has a way of writing that appeals to middle grade readers and adults alike. I don't feel like the writing is juvenile in any way, really, and the story lines are always a romping good time. I can't wait to see how this series ends, but if this sneak peak is any indication, it's going to be...explosive.

5 out of 5 stars.

This sneak peek wasn't enough. The only thing I can say about this is I am ready for the final battle. Can't wait for the full book.
