Maeve Greyson does it again! What a cool story this is! Alec and his family are pulled forward in time by the goddesses to protect the sacred Heartstone. They operate a theme park focused on Scottish highlander games. When a filming company wants to do a period piece on the property, Alec is inundated with emails trying to get him to entertain the idea. Alec becomes enthralled with the emails and wants to meet the writer.
Sadie is a screenwriter and forced to be the assistant to her sister and her motion picture company. When Alec finally grants them a meeting to talk about filming there, sparks fly! Alec is quick to craft a couple of contract changes, one being Sadie reports to him daily and stays on the property. Having been adopted and looked down to her entire life, Sadie doesn't know how to handle Alec and his adoration for her.
This story was such an interesting one! I loved the whole backstory and the cover in modern time is very original! Alec is of course, big and burly and sweet, and caring and and and! He is just a sweetheart and I was taken with him! Sadie had a real hard time accepting attention from Alec. She never felt love from her family so when Alec gave her his sole focus, she didn't know what to do. I really liked them together! Yes, there are some misunderstandings that get in the way, but I knew it was going to be ok, because Maeve never leaves us hanging!!
This is a wonderful start to the Highland Protector series! One click this with confidence! I can't wait to read the other brother's stories of romance and love!

This is a great beginning to a new series. I loved the fact that it is a time travel into the future, rather than the past. Alec has been learning how to live in the modern world along with the rest of his family. Sparks fly from the beginning between Alec and Sadie. The story and the world held my interest so that I did not want to put the book down, though real life made sure I did. Alec is an honest person, and I loved him. Sadie's journey to be a stronger person had me crying at times, feeling her self-doubt and lack of confidence. I highly recommend this book, and I look forward to the next installment.
I received a copy of this book through Netgalley, and this is my unsolicited review.
Sadie’s Highlander by Maeve Greyson

Maeve Greyson’s Sadie’s Highlander is the first in a new series featuring the four MacDara brothers who are tasked with guarding the sacred Heartstone. In order to keep it safe, they were sent by the goddesses to 21st Century North Carolina. Fast forward 15 years, and the MacDara family own and run the Highland Life and Legends theme park and are deeply involved in the local community. The eldest brother, Alec MacDara, is very reluctant to open the theme park to a movie production company, especially one with a bad reputation. The Heartstone has other ideas though, and it probably has something to do with the adopted sister of the production company’s owner. Sadie Williams is acting as her sister’s assistant and taking a lot of abuse. She puts up with it only because she needs her sister’s connections. Sadie desperately wants to be a screenwriter.
Sadie isn’t the most assertive woman. She is used to blending into the background as her sister stands in the spotlight. She clearly doesn’t like conflict and doesn’t have much confidence in herself. Alec, however, is drawn to her even before he meets her just from the several interactions he has had with her via e-mail. No time is wasted in getting Sadie and Alec together. There is some reluctance on her part because she doesn’t quite trust that a hunk like him would be interested in an overweight assistant like her. But, boy, they can’t keep their hands off each other!
I am not a huge fan of insta-love, admittedly, and things definitely moved a bit too fast for my taste in Sadie’s Highlander. Still, I raced through this romance quite quickly and enjoyed getting to know Sadie and Alec. Alec is definitely a take charge kind of guy, and he brings out the best in Sadie. She feels comfortable and safe around him—enough to be herself.
One of the things I especially liked about this novel was that Sadie’s insecurity was not swept under the rug. It was a real issue in this novel as Alec—with the help of his family (or rather, his family with his help)—knows pretty words alone won’t convince her she is better than she thinks she is. I mean, sure, everything falls into place very neatly and in a way that is a bit beyond belief—but then, this is a Highlander romance novel. There’s already time travel and magic.
Sadie's Highlander was a fun and light read. It was a good escape from the summer heat, although it certainly brought it's own kind of heat with it.

This book was gifted to me for a voluntary review. The review and ratings are solely my opinions.
Author Maeve Greyson has a new time travel series called "Highland Protector" set in the present. Book one, "Sadie's Highlander", has the same quirky humor and dialogue you can find in some of her other books; not to mention a hunky Highlander and sometimes spunky female lead.
Alec MacDara is the oldest son of the chieftain of a Scottish Druid clan. His favored clan have served mighty goddesses since ancient times as guardian protectors of the Heartstone. This relic, as the story holds, held the energies that fueled the basics for humankind to love, hope and evolve. So when invaders threaten to capture this relic, it along with Alec, his family and the sacred weapons used to protect the relic are brought forward in time to the present by the goddesses. The MacDara's are granted by the goddesses property to equal their land in Scotland and guides to help them thrive and to fit into the present.
Alec agrees to meet with Sadie Williams and her sister when she sparks his interest with her daily engaging emails requesting her sister's film production company, who are doing a period movie, be allowed to film at his families successful theme park, Highland Life and Legends. While he does not trust Sadie's conniving sister, he agrees to the contract with several stipulations, one of which is Sadie must be with him everyday of the filming.
Sadie has always been the lesser, unconventional younger sister in her adopted family. Her dream is to be a screenwriter, so she has to put up with her sister's rants and put downs in hopes her sister's connections come through. In the meantime she writes serial stories for a website that has a growing following.
When events seem to cause Sadie to feel she has lost her dreams and failed Alec, Alec must find patience in order to convince her to not fault herself and to believe in her dreams and their love.
This series has the makings to be one that you will want to own to read over and over. Cannot wait for the stories of the other members of the MacDara family and the follow ups on the unusual side characters.
ARC - I voluntarily offered to review this book with no obligations and my opinions are honest!
Alec MacDara just meet his match.
Sadie was at the theme park for business.
She would never imagine that she would become part of the deal.
Spend 6 months w/ the mouth watering highlander? Sign me up.
Everything seems to going well for Alec + Sadie until the other shoe dropped.
Because of Sadie's sister betrayal, Sadie thought that she lost everything.
How can Alex ever forgive her?
In reality, Alec knew that it was never Sadie's fault.
You will have to read the book to find out what happens next.
Loved the storytelling.
I can't wait to read the next book.
I enjoyed this book, Highlander themes are very popular once again. Perhaps because of Outlander, I would recommend this one to people that enjoy escaping in to the romantic world of love and all things Scottish.
Good start to a new series. Alec and his brothers have been sent forward in time to protect the Heartstone. Sadie works for her sister’s motion picture company and was able to talk Alec into filming at his theme park. This read is filled with plenty of drama and suspense. Alec and Sadie are fun characters with plenty of steam. A good read, looking forward to more in this series.
Sadie's Highlander (Highland Protector, #1) by Maeve Greyson ....Just WOW... This is my first book by Maeve ... it will not be my last... I love books about Highland men and this one was all I could ask for.. Alec and his family are guardians of the Heart Stone and time travelers. Sadie wants to be a screen writer and works for and is mistreated by her movie producer "sister". They go to the theme park can they stop her sister from destroying the Heart Stone. Can't wait for Joanna's Highlander...which brother will it be?
Sadie's Highlander by Maeve Greyson
I enjoyed the strong and charismatic characters with their witty dialogue and sarcastic retorts were fun to read. I was excitedly intrigued by the rare direction of this romantic storyline between the handsome Highland warrior Alec and the enchantingly witty and curvaceous Sadie Williams. Sadie's character endured unbelievable cruelty from her adopted parents and her sister, by their lack of acceptance, mental abuse, and the ultimate abandonment by her parents because Sadie did not meet their vane physical size criteria. Her perseverance to not let their small mindedness and her sister's cruel words effect her was tearfully heart felt. Sadie deserved to have her happy ending with the man of her dreams, but unfortunately I fell short of feeling a real connection between them other than physical. I felt the relationship was rushed without having the basic foundation and experience of getting to knowing each other, becoming friends, and the building of trust and a deeper connection that draws and ties the characters hearts together.
The beginning of the book was an exciting and action packed page turner that I wished to have seen more of and to see it have a bigger part of story. I look forward to future reads from this author and I am glad I had the opportunity of choosing to accept an advanced ARC copy of this novel for an honest review. Happy Reading!
Highland warrior Alec MacDara and his brothers traveled forward in time to protect the sacred Heartsone. Their cover? Owners and operators of a theme park called Highland Life and Legends. As the chairman, Alec has been fending off requests to film at the breathtaking property. It’s only because of the charming correspondence from an enterprising production assistant that he agrees to a meeting at all. That’s when Alec meets a woman whose lush curves make him forget, for the first time, all about tenth-century Scotland.
A lowly assistant for her sister’s motion picture company, wannabe screenwriter Sadie Williams is shocked when Alec agrees to let them film at the park upon one condition: that she report to him daily. Sadie’s sister always told her that their parents only adopted her because they felt sorry for the ugly little stray. But Alec looks at Sadie like she’s the most tempting creature in the world. And with his gleaming, musclebound body stripped down to nothing but a hip-hugging kilt and boots, Alec clearly knows a little something about temptation.
Review:
A little historical, contemporary, supernatural, time-traveling and a whole lot of sexy.
First in a new series that features brothers who are brought forward in time to protect their line and sacred items. This first book features oldest brother Alec and Sadie. Alec is exactly what you would expect from a Highland warrior; alpha, strong, smart, sexy accented and kilt wearing. Sadie is the adopted, much abused sister of a Hollywood bigwig. Theirs is a romance that starts through correspondence and grows when they are together every day. The romance does not run smoothly because of Sadie's self-esteem and her sister. I am glad she comes to accept herself in the end and let things work out with Alec. There is a little suspense waiting to see what Sadie's sister is up to. I have to admit I was hoping for something a little more sinister or supernatural from the sister. I do really like concept of the story and have enjoyed other stories by this Author.
Great start to this series!

Alec, the alpha leader of the druid clan MacDara; responsible for the blessed Heartstone. He practically falls for Sadie, sight unseen through her emails. Sadie is a lamb, ruled by her sadistic sister, who's eye is on the alpha! Alec has a clan to lead and Hearthstone to protect. Sadie has been abused by her sister so long, she has no sense of self worth. Is their union doomed to fail?
Interesting first in a series of Highland Celtic brothers in the 21st century! Enjoyed Alec, his family (especially his mom, Sarinda, and sister Esme), Dwyn, Ms. Lydia and Ms. Martha. Sadie was okay; though understandably not a strong character. Questions still to be answered in coming series. Would like to have a book forthcoming for Esme and Dwyn. Enjoyed the read.

Good storyline with well defined characters made this book an enjoyable and entertaining read!
I voluntarily reviewed an advanced reader copy of this book.
Since historical romances are a favorite subgenre, I expected to love Sadie's Highlander, but it was a severe disappointment.
Pros:
1. I loved the cover, although the female model doesn't begin to match Sadie's lush dimensions; she says she has nothing in her closet smaller than a size 16. Guess that wouldn't appeal on a cover?
2. The writing was very polished.
3. I liked the druid angle. It added an interesting dimension.
4. There totally should be a Highland Park. I'd be there!
Cons:
1. The plot was going along fine until *SPOILER ALERT* the explosion. Right there, Greyson lost me. I thought, really? A movie company is going to sneak out the family so they can blow up half a CASTLE? I realize this is fiction, but still. And Delia never really got her comeuppance at the end. It's always more satisfying when the bad guy gets his (or hers).
2. What was with all the food? It figured in all the sex scenes, there was all this stomach grumbling, and it was just overkill.
3. The heroine is lushly figured and the hero loves it, I get it, but the author hits it from every possible angle, over and over again. We understand your point, okay? Climb down off your soapbox.
I don't expect to read others from this series.

Ms. Greyson’s Highland Hearts series won me over, my fellow romance book-loving friends. So I jumped at the chance to receive an ARC of Sadie’s Highlander, which is book 1 of her new Highland Protector series.
There sure is a heaping amount of responsibility tied to the Heartstone relic Alec’s family has been chosen to protect. Nothing like holding the hope and happiness of all mankind in your hands, folks. That tidbit of info is shared at the beginning of this book and served as a behind the scenes backdrop of this lived in the past but hurled into the future romantic tale.
Alec, as acting chieftain, is all up for continuing the legacy of protecting it but longs for a good woman by his side. He’s fallen for modern day Sadie in a verra big way long before he even laid eyes on her. She’s not far behind him, either. If you like moth to a flame/instant attraction that won’t be denied, you won’t have long to wait. In record time, they are getting intimate, at least by my standards. Sure, you could feel their chemistry, and I loved how they first met. However, it wasn’t that credible. It all just felt rather rushed, as did Alec’s quick to confess his love and devotion for this sweet, but insecure, doormat leading lady.
At half-way through it, I became hesitant to continue. Rushed intimacy/too quickly proclaimed declarations of love, too graphic, uncomfortably erotic, smexy scenes that takes strawberries and whipped topping places where surely they are never meant to be, had me wondering why the author was taking this path.
She gave us a super sweet, good guy hero who seemed ready to do battle on behalf of the heroine over every little disrespectful slight, but I couldn’t shake the feeling it wasn’t much of a fighting cause. You see, Sadie seemed wimpy for not picking up her own figurative sword and defending her own dang honor. Though Alec made quite the pretty alpha male picture speaking up for her. But, honestly, what was up with the mental comment he wished in this day and age he could still physically knock the spiteful sister on her behind. Regardless of the century, I’m not a fan of the hero even thinking of doing so to a woman a fraction his size.
I pushed on but the ending result was still the same. This one just wasn’t as good as I had hoped. They were a great couple, and I loved the sweet, awkwardness when they first met. However, it lacked the backdrop of a more riveting, engaging plot.
Title: Sadie’s Highlander, Series: Highland Protector (Book 1), Author: Maeve Greyson, Pages: 253, sweet/good guy hero, Scottish brogue, sweet but doormat heroine, OTT smexy scenes involving food, wasn’t as good as I had hoped.
Book 1 - Sadie’s Highlander (Alec & Sadie), Pages: 253, 9/12/17
Book 2 - Joanna’s Highlander, 4/10/18 (details not available yet).
(I received a free advanced reader copy via NetGalley in exchange for a fair review. No type of compensation was given to this reviewer. There is no relationship/affiliation between the reviewer and the author/publisher/NetGalley.)
I really wanted to love this book because the premise hooked me and it was original. However, it was just too cheesy and unrealistic for me-and not the part about time traveling...
Sadie...I really liked her at first. Self reliant and unassumingly beautiful. She's not had it easy in life being adopted and having cruel sister. I get why she is the way she is but after a while it was just annoying and off putting. Alec came off as super sexy and the perfect highland hero. Gruff but totally sweet and loveable. I just never felt the connection he had with Sadie. Their sexy times were hot but the chemistry between them outside of the bedroom was sorely lacking.
The dialogue was pretty corny and even parts of the story were just stupid. I didn't buy into it at all. I'm not giving up on this series though. I definitely think it has potential and maybe the books to follow will be better. I feel like this could go either way for someone so don't completely give up on it.

Highland warrior Alec MacDara and his brothers traveled forward to present day 21st century to protect the sacred Heartsone. There new lives 15 years later revolve around a theme park called Highland Life and Legends. Alec’s interest is piqued by some emails from a charming correspondence of an enterprising production assistant. He invites Sadie and Delia to his office for a chat and right away see Delia for the scheming woman she is and becomes even more intrigued with Sadie. He agrees to let them film at the park upon one condition: that she report to him daily. Sadie is an honest person just trying to making it in to production writing, but she must stay on her sister’s good side or else her dreams will not come true. Alec and Sadie are mutually attracted to each other, the chemistry is undeniable. After all what’s not to love about a musclebound Highlander stripped down to a hip-hugging kilt. Sadie’s parents adopted her and she’s never felt loved or accepted and then disaster hits Sadie knows she’s to blame she knows Alec must defend his family and the Heartsone against her evil sister.
I voluntarily read an ARC copy from Net Galley and this is my honest review.
I don't read many time travel books, but the blurb for this one caught my attention with its sexy Highlander in modern day North Carolina. I was a little worried about similarities to the Outlander series, but thankfully, didn't find that. The story is well-written and it flows nicely. The characters could've done with a bit more development, but they are interesting - some more than others and some were quirky and humorous (Esme, in particular). Greyson does a good job of explaining why Alec and his family are in the twenty-first century and what their purpose is. Some elements of the story do require a suspension of belief, even for a time travel romance (Sadie's too quick acceptance of Alec's story, for one), and the ending was a little mushy. Nevertheless, I did enjoy the read and found the story entertaining enough that I would check out future books in the series.
'Sadie's Highlander' by Maeve Greyson is the First Book in The New Series Called "Highland Protector". This is the story of Alec MacDara and Sadie Williams.
Alex and his family were brought to the 21 Century about 15 years ago. The MacDara family are the protectors of the Heartstone. The Goddess assigned adviser Dwyn MacKay , guardian and who has helped the MacDara Family adjust to there new Time Travel. Alex and his family have a famous Scottish Theme Park and Delia who is Sadie's sister wants to shoot a Romance Film there. Sadie has been emailing Alex back and forth which has made Alex grow to like her and possible have feeling for her. When Dwyn asked if he has brought this up to the Hearstone, he said that he has and that they 'warmed', which is a good sign. So Even thought Alex doesn't like or trust Delia or her Production company he grants them six weeks if Sadie will be with him every day of that six weeks and that Sadie is to alert him if Delia breaks the contracted rules.
Sadie is the adopted sister of Delia and neither her sister nor her parents ever treated her with respect and always made comments on her looks. But Sadie is an honest person just trying to making it in to production writing and such. So when she is asked to do this she is slow to agree but she does seem to be drawn to Alex..but is Sadie the one for Alex?
I really enjoyed this book! Alex was a hard working person looking out for his family and the Heartstone never taking time for himself until Sadie came.
Loved it!!
