Alec MacDara, a Highland warrior, and his family have traveled forward in time to protect the sacred Heartstone. They now live in North Carolina and run a theme park called Highland Life and Legends. A production assistant for a motion picture company has been emailing Alec about filming at the theme park. When he meets this girl, he is spellbound and forgets everything but the promise in her eyes.
Sadie Williams, a wannabe screenwriter, has always felt like a second-class citizen. Her sister, who owns the motion picture company, has always told her that she was adopted only because her parents felt sorry for her. She was brought up to feel like she was an ugly outcast. But, when she meets Alec, she’s entranced. The one caveat he states for the use of their property is that she spends every day with him. Alec decides that he will somehow get Sadie to believe that she is worth loving, and that he is her future.
I loved this time travel romance because it showed that beauty is not just what’s on the outside, but on the inside, in the heart. Sadie reminds me of women I’ve known that felt they were worthless and stuck in no-win situations. It’s always in their dreams to be rescued by a handsome, kind gentleman who will sweep them off their feet. This story was lighthearted and a fast read. I can’t give it more than five stars, but I wish I could. An advanced reading copy was received in exchange for an honest review.

Really enjoyed this twist on time travel romance. Alec is from the past & Sadie is from the present. Alec has been looking for someone like her all of his life but never thought he'd find someone that would understand his family's secret. Sadie has very low self-esteem & a "sister" (Sadie is adopted) that treats her like dirt. Watching Sadie blossom & start to believe she's worthy of Alec's affections is beautiful. They're love is palpable throughout the book. Highly recommend reading this one!

This was a fun story about a family of Scottish highlanders thrown from 800 AD into present day for the good of humanity. The family of MacDaras have four sons and a daughter, each of which, I can see having their own entertaining tale. This, the first in the series, is of the oldest son Alec and a young woman named Sadie. The plot was interesting and the characters fun, and there was plenty of heat between the two main characters. It all takes place in a highland theme park in North Carolina, with a film crew, with a bit of chaos and whimsy throughout. I can see this shaping up to be an enjoyable series to follow.

Publisher's Description:

The Highland Protector series brings to life four mouthwatering Celtic brothers in twenty-first-century North Carolina—where the lasses are anything but tamed.

Highland warrior Alec MacDara and his brothers traveled forward in time to protect the sacred Heartstone. Their cover? Owners and operators of a theme park called Highland Life and Legends. As the chairman, Alec has been fending off requests to film at the breathtaking property. It’s only because of the charming correspondence from an enterprising production assistant that he agrees to a meeting at all. That’s when Alec meets a woman whose lush curves make him forget, for the first time, all about tenth-century Scotland.

A lowly assistant for her sister’s motion picture company, wannabe screenwriter Sadie Williams is shocked when Alec agrees to let them film at the park upon one condition: that she report to him daily. Sadie’s sister always told her that their parents only adopted her because they felt sorry for the ugly little stray. But Alec looks at Sadie like she’s the most tempting creature in the world. And with his gleaming, musclebound body stripped down to nothing but a hip-hugging kilt and boots, Alec clearly knows a little something about temptation.

My Thoughts;
Maeve Greyson has done it again! This first book in the new Highland Protector Series is not to be missed.

Sadie has grown up as an unwanted, adopted child. She was pretty much ignored by her adoptive parents and hated on sight by her parents only natural child. Her less than petite size has been a sore spot all her life. Although she is not unhappy with her curves, her family was always after her to loose weight.
Now her adoptive parents are dead and her sister holds the purse strings, so Sadie must submit to her cruelty.

Alec is the eldest son of his family that has been brought forward to the twenty first century from ancient Scotland to protect the Heartstone and the sacred weapons that surround it. They have been ensconced in a rural town in North Carolina and now run a thriving theme park based on Highland Life and legends.
Sadie's sister wants to film there so Sadie has been corresponding by email for weeks with a person she assumes is an assistant on staff at the theme park. It is, however Alec who has been reading these emails and this correspondence with Sadie is the only reason she and her hateful sister have been allowed to speak with him about filming a movie there.
Will this inauspicious beginning lead to the love that Alec hopes for or will Sadie's older sister be the ruin of an otherwise blooming love?
This, like most Maeve Greyson books I have read has a decidedly comical nature. It does also have a serious side that makes the reader look deeper into what society deems beautiful and acceptable.
I gave this book 5.0 of 5.0 stars for storyline and characterization and a sensual rating of 4.75 of 5.0 flames. Our hero and heroine enjoy some inventive sexual moments and the heat is palpable.
I received a complimentary digital ARC of this book from the publisher via NetGalley to read. This in no way affected my opinion of this book which I read and reviewed voluntarily.

Get swept away with Sadie’s Highlander written by Maeve Greyson. Some people believe that time traveling can occur and then there are those, who only believe in the known. But since this is fiction, anything can happen.
In Sadie’s Highlander, we’re introduced to an entire family that traveled years into the future to protect the sacred Heartstone. And what better cover to do this is by operating a theme park called Highland Life and Legends. Alec doesn’t have a problem with a filming crew coming to the park as longs as one enterprising production assistant comes along for the ride. Well, what a ride it was, for Sadie’s life was full of nothing but an adventure from the time she was adopted into Williams’s family.
Sadie’s Highland has a wonderful plotline, even though this was a time-traveling – Highlander romance. It was anything but the run of the mill. Sadie’s Highlander didn’t spend too much time on the time-traveling even though it was mention several times during the story. But it did spend more time on the romance between Alex and Sadie.
Sadie’s Highlander was a winner for me. Like any story, it did have its downsides that might not be an issue for some readers.
For those readers who like Time travel, Hot Celtic men then Sadie Highlander is that story that you might want to add to your list of reads this Fall.

Sadie's Highlander is a fun beach read, one that you can finish in one or two sessions and enjoy. Predictable but lots of fun to read!

Sadie's Highlander provides the new Highlander Protection with a great start. Sadie is a hard working lackie for her nasty film producer sister. While she longs to write for film, her sister lies and promises her some writing credit on their current film. It seems like Alec MacDara has taken a shine to Sadie since they emailed each other because her sister, Delia wants to use the MacDara land for a movie. Delia encourages the naive Sadie to get cinch the deal.
The sparks between Sadie and Alec were sweet and sexy. I also loved the magical story of the Heartstone which is guarded by the MacDara family. If I had one problem with the story, it's that I feel Delia didn't pay enough for the meanness and trouble that she caused. Other than that, I will continue reading this intriguing new series.

I absolutely love time travel books particularly when you have one sexy hot alpha hero! *sigh*

This is a story of a powerful druid family, the MacDaras, who are thrown into the twenty first century with the help of a mighty goddess to guard and protect the blessed Heartstone. Alec MacDara, eldest son and tasked to lead his family is now the owner of the ultimate theme park in North Carolina, Highland Life and Legends.

Then we have the heroine Sadie Williams, who has self-esteem issues, works as an assistant for her evil sister Delia. Delia has a production company and wants to film in the theme park of Alec and needs his approval . Alec never allowed anyone to film in his theme park but due to the emails he received from Sadie, he approves the filming because for starters, he wants to meet the woman behind the said emails and when he does meet her, he finds himself strongly attracted to her. But said approval comes with conditions: and that is, Sadie lives in his mansion so they can work closely together and she puts a leash on her sister.. But naturally, things don't always go as planned and the evil sister always has to try and have her way..

I loved reading this book.. It's a whole different take on time travel romance and it's fast paced.. Never a dull moment for sure..

Sadie' Highlander has all the necessary elements, but I struggled to finish it.

Alec Danaan MacDara is the eldest son and one of the protectors of the heartstone. Sadie Williams is the youngest sister and is very sweet and kind.
I found myself being drawn into the story from the prologue. The descriptions were wonderful, and I felt as though I was a part of the tale. The characters were so authentic, and real. They were kind and thoughtful but fierce when necessary. Esme is a teenager and acts just like one but is well loved by her family. You could see them all growing and living life to it's absolute fullness. The plot is a little different, but it moved well and was evenly paced and kept your attention. I loved this book, I found it mesmerizing and was delighted to see her sister get at least a touch of what she gave. The author did a great job taking all the parts and making it cohesive and so worth the read.. It does get racy in spots. I received this book from Net Galley and reviewed it voluntarily.

There were several things that bothered me in this book, which was sad because the author is clearly a talented writer. I enjoyed the preface and prologue, and I loved the inner monologue Alec had going on. However, there were two main issues that presented themselves early on which left the rest of the story to fall flat for me:

(1) How quickly they had sex. There was very little build up, their relationship wasn't given enough time to develop, and for someone who was so anxious about not taking the job for sex, Sadie couldn't get Alec's kilt off fast enough. Didn't seem genuine, and to be honest, this leaned more towards a BBW erotica than a romance. We get it - Sadie is very curvy. Move on. There are other ways of showing appreciation for women who are not thin besides bringing up her weight on every freaking page.

(2) Sadie was this weird combination of "I love myself" confident to "Nobody can love a fat girl" insecurity. The author needed to pick a persona for her and stick with it. I couldn't get a handle on her personality and it meant I couldn't connect with her as a heroine.

Sadie's Highlander ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️by Maeve Greyson
(Highland Protector #1)

This book fit the bill for me. Sexy highlander, times travels and the mousey sister made to feel beautiful and loved.

Alec MacDara is a time traveler from the tenth century. He and his family jumped time with the help of their Celtic goddesses to protect the sacred Hearstone. They have moved to the twenty first century under the guise of owners and operators of a successful theme park called Highland Life and Legends.

Alec has avoided every request to film at their authentic park but when he receives a series of 31 emails from Sadie, the production assistant at a movie production company, he feels he meets must meet her. Alec is so struck by her genuineness he wants to know her more. So their adventure begins.

I just loved this story from the beginning to the end. I really look forward to reading the rest of this new series by Ms Greyson.

Along time ago Goddesses were the only protector of the precious stone called the Hearthstone. Then the Goddesses made the MacDara family the protectors of the blessed and precious stone. - which was an ancient relic with unexplained energy. Then Alec MacDara and his family including his parents time traveled to North Carolina to live. The Goddesses gave the four brothers divine powers to protect the stone- Alex a sword, Ross a shield. Grant a hammer, and Ramsey a spear. Then you meet Alec in present time a warrior with a good heart and Sadie a headstrong woman who had been treated all her life like someone beneath her family. She was especially looked down upon by her sister Delia. Sadie lacks confidence but is to be a gifted screenwriter in the future but she will need all the help she can get. The MacDara family now runs a Highland theme park.named Legends. Sadie works for her sister Delia who has a film production company. And asked to make a film in the Highland theme park. Delia treats Sadie like a slave. Sadie is useless as far as her parents are concerned. When Alec finds out Sadie is the one who wrote the emails in regard to the filming in his park he is determined to spend more time with Sadie. Alec thinks Sadie is charming, witty, and funny in the emails. One of Alec’s conditions to let Delia film is his park is that Sadie spends her days with Alec to explain what is happening with the filming. Delia is happy with that and told Sadie to keep Alec busy and not let him near the filming set as Delia is not known to stick to agreements when filming. Sadie and Alec are very attracted to each other . Alec sees a beautiful strong woman who has been beaten down by the mean people in her life especially Delia. As Alec spends time with Sadie he falls in love with her.
I liked this book a lot. This story pulled you right in and I don’t usually like time travel stories too much but I did this one. I felt like I was right there with Alec and Sadie. I didn’t want to put his down. I liked how Alex did everything he could to prove to Sadie how much she was really worth. I wish there was more of a build up to their relationship. I also liked Miss Martha as she made me laugh a lot which is not common when I am reading. I hated Sadie’s parents and Delia for the way Sadie was treated. This story had : passion. Love. mental abuse, romance, a relic, adventure, Goddesses, time travel, a mean family, a Highland warrior, a theme park, and a lot more. I loved the characters or at least some of them.and the ins and outs of this story and I recommend.

In Sadie's Highlander we have a story where a family of Scots, are being attacked in medieval Scotland, and a magical force of three goddesses, saves them and send them to the future where they have to learn to live in modern times and adjust to the changes and they do with great courage. They adapt pretty well for the most part, keeping where they are really from secret from everyone except for family. Our hero Alec, is your typical Scottish warrior. He is intelligent, a warrior, doesn't stand for idiots and is pretty blunt in his thinking, but also is a great defender of women. Our heroine is Sadie Williams, she dreams of being a screenwriter, but her older sister who is cruel to her controls her funds. Sadie stays with Alec and his family, so that her sister and her filming crew can film a scottish movie in their autentic Scottish town that is infamous.

What a story this turned out to be, and if you enjoyed Janet Chapman's Highlander series than this is one book you need to give a try for sure. I really love seeing real highlanders in contemporary times. There is something so different and unique in seeing this type of setting for a romance. The family are a hoot together, they made me laugh in so many ones, and boy do they love to meddle. Alec feels an attraction for Sadie that he hasn't felt for any other woman he has met. Sadie however has some reservations, she isn't skinny like her sister and she can't understand why someone so attractive would be attracted to her. But Alec is from a different time, but he appreciates a woman that enjoys life and has natural curves. I loved the way Alec is with Sadie. He understands that she has some self esteem problems, and he goes out of his way to prove to her of his devotion and love.

This story was full of true feeling, and there was plenty of drama, laughter, silly moments, a sexy filled story that will keep you coming back for more. SIMPLY IRRESISTABLE!

So this is my first read by this author and although I have issues with it it was still a decent attempt at a Highland romance novel. The issues I had were this...
1. Is this a historical romance or paranormal (time travel)
2. Is this a romance or erotic romance? I think the author tried really hard to succeed at one of these but just couldn't pull it off.
3. Sadie oh Sadie... our heroine wishy washy doormat who believes she deserves nothing good and let's her witch of a sister verbally abuse her because she has connections and will one day help Sadie?!? What I mean what in her whole dang life lead her to believe Delia would ever help her? Not!!!
4. Nothing is ever concluded about Delia and her getting some super big karma.
All in all it had potential, she had decent characters minus Sadie's doormat tendencies, the story background had potential to be great, druids, time travel, Scottish men in kilts.. the element's were there just not completed to its full potential. 2.5 stars
Gifted read by Netgalley.

I love reading Highlander stories and was excited to get my hands on this book. I was unfortunately disappointed. I felt the two main characters, Alec and Sadie, fell for eacother too quickly. I would've preferred more of a build up until the two of them got together. Sadie didn't seem to hesitate to get in on with Alec at all. I would've liked more sexual tension and build up before they actually did it. The story fell flat for me. I did enjoy the description of Alec as the Highlander and his backstory. That part was well done.
I give the book 3 stars because it did have some interesting parts.
