I LOVED both Sadie and Alec. Sadie was the kind of heroine I love. Strong, yet super vulnerable. Alec was hot and alpha and I loved how he knew Sadie was for him right from the start. The story line of the Highland Warriors traveling FORWARD in time is unique and intriguing.
With all that being said, I was a bit disappointed with the end, it just fell a little flat for me. I believed that her sister was a horrible person, but I don't believe for one second that she would've done what she did. It just wouldn't happen (and yes, I know this is fiction, but no). And why did SADIE go to jail? She wasn't even there. And what happened to the sister and the others? There was no conclusion with her at all. And I didn't like how Alec's family treated him and the end was just a little silly. Anyway....I still enjoyed the story and will probably re-read because I loved Alex and Sadie that much! :)
An imaginative book that I really enjoyed and will definitely read again.
Alright, there were some parts where I thought that the heroine's feeling of guilt was a bit too much but, well, considering her upbringing and her history I fear that it might be rather realistic. I was upset though because I really really liked the heroine and I would have loved to kick her b*east of a sister in her b*eastly bony behind.
Okay, I think, it is obvious that the book got me and that the characters were interesting, even though not all of them are nice ones (nope, definitely not, this ....sister...is unbelievable, simply unbelievable....)
The whole story is not really a time travel story at least only partly because the whole family was sent forward to a time where they and the heartstone were safe, well, at least the stone was considered safe till...yep, right, at least the family is safe - and trying to adapt to modern life. Quite a feat for someone from the tenth century but a good mentor and 15 years are a big help there.
When Alec reads the mails sent daily by Sadie Williams in order to convince him and his brothers to open their theme park for her sister's motion picture company, he wants to get to know the woman behind the mails. In order to meet her and get to know her, he'll even put up with her sister Delia, b*east par excellence, and her movie company.
Delia's behaviour towards Sadie very often made me see red, such a spiteful, horrible woman - un.be.lie.va.ble. Fortunately Alec didn't tolerate her and her behaviour either and I just relished the moments when Delia has to realize that he is really interested in her supposedly plain and ugly adoptive sister and not in her bony, b*eastly beauty.
An interesting story with a nice setting and very likeable characters - I can recommend the book.
I always love me a kilt-wearing Scottish Highlander and I certainly would never turn Alec MacDara away. He has everything to make a lady swoon especially with his old-world charm. Sadie Williams is his ladylove in this story and I thought her character quite fun until the end of the story where I was getting a bit irritated with her. I found some of the background characters to be quite delightful and I really loved Esme. I would have liked to see a bit more of the other brothers. I did enjoy this story however the ending was silly to me.
What an interesting romance. Totally enjoyed it from start to finish. Good characters.
That was abrupt. And a bit confusing.
This is her sister? I'd disown her, not work for her!
Geez, she's Cinderella.
Take that, witch! Hunky Scot likes your sister, not your skinny Botox-ed butt.
Is this a meeting room or an interrogation cell?
I also hate technology.
Take the terms, girl. You'll be free of your annoying, evil sister.
Is that legal?
Why didn't the goddesses just keep them in modern Scotland?
One wonders if teenagers have always been bratty, even in the tenth century.
Well that's not stalkerish at all.
Will all their dates be chaperoned, hahaha?
Unlikely friends, but adorable.
Seriously, is there no one nice working at this company?
Why can't more men think like him?
Esme hears worse than that in school, you two.
She's going to send you a one-way ticket to Crazytown, Alec.
Does she trust anything?
The sheriff is on the MacDaras' side.
Yeah, Miss Martha, because what you name a goat is really important.
You know you could just fly to the city anytime, right, Miss Martha?
Naked old-lady bits kind of ruins the romance of the gesture.
