I love steamy books. Those that pack the heat right in and keep you on the edge with the suspense and heat. This book had both. The whole on the run thing made it sexier too. And just saying, can have my own bouncer sex man? Lol
This book is very steamy. Only mature readers should read it. I would suggest reading it if you are into erotica. However besides that than you should continue browsing
Wow! This was hot! Claire and Ed met hot and fast. He's on the run from his past, and she's now wanted for something she didn't do. It was fast paced and incredibly sexy. I will be looking for the next in the series!
A fast-paced drama and suspense story. Our heroine, Clare, is a lab geek takes pains to avoid all contact with other people. On the occasion of a rare night out she runs into issues with her boss who turns touchy feely. The bouncer, Ed, has scoped out Clare from afar and has already come to the conclusion that he needs her but he is a bit of an odd character. The perfect opportunity to 'meet' Clare when he sees the boss making Clare so uncomfortable, so he's off to rescue her. The attraction between them is sizzling and in a bit of a surprise move they soon find that they are one the run. Being privy to their individual secrets and knowing the other is not, makes helps this entertaining read keep the reader's attention. The chemistry between the characters and the backstory kept me interested..
This is a fast-paced with lots of drama and suspense. Clare works in a lab and if all possible avoiding contact with other people. When on a rare night out her boss gets a bit handsy and the bouncer, Ed steps in to rescue her. The attraction between them is steamy and soon they find themselves on the run, both with secrets. I liked this entertaining read. The characters have great chemistry and the story held my interest throughout.

The story premise is a good one, but somehow it just fell flat to me. Claire is a shy, nerdy lab assistant who meets Ed, the bouncer at the bar where her boss is trying to sexually harass her. Ed defends Claire and walks her home.
Something about Ed appeals to Claire and she can't stop thinking about him. Then someone tries to run her down with a car and set her apartment on fire. Ed is there for her, like a superhero.
There is a lot of action in just a few days, but we don't learn much about Claire's background, family, friends, or Ed's other than he has one friend named Darwin. Perhaps book two will have more answers than questions.

I have to say that the beginning of this book was a bit odd. Well, not the very beginning, but the first few times we meet Ed I wasn't sure I liked him. He was... well, he was a bit creepy. However, the more we get to know him the more I really liked him. I felt like he had so much that we didn't get to see underneath his tough exterior. He's been through a lot and it's obvious that there is much to come in the series about what he and the other soldiers have been through.
Claire is a bit odd for not completely freaking out on Ed, but then again, she is a dork in her own mind and words, so it worked for me. She is silly and the complete opposite to the oh-so-serious Ed. It's cute watching her learn little tidbits about Ed and what he can do. Her reactions are awesome and made me love her. She's an oddball and it's always nice to see when an author can pull the silly/sweet/intelligent combination off.
The book is definitely action packed with some cute moments. While we don't necessarily get a ton of background on Claire, there is a reason why we don't with Ed... and it really didn't matter to me. We got to see our characters connect in ways that I didn't need to know their past because their present was enough of a connection to forgo it in my opinion.
I can't wait to see where this series goes for sure. There is a lot still to find out about the men and their situation.

Claire is a geek. She works hard in a lab, loves her rats, and knows right from wrong. So, when her boss becomes a little too handsy after work one night, she gets out of there. Ed comes to her rescue and from then on, they are inseparable.
Ed is a strange character and I had a very difficult time connecting with him. He is blunt, stern, and very unemotional. He sees Claire from afar and just knows that he has to know her. He is intense and, despite his demeanor, ends up being kind of a giant teddy bear.
Claire is on the run from her boss and Ed is there, on the run from his own past. You catch a glimpse of his past, but are not really given very many details.
This was action packed and a short read. I wish that we had seen more of a conclusion, but overall, I really enjoyed this story. I can't wait to see what else this series will bring.
Oh, how I adore when a big, strong guy has secrets of the not-normal variety. I also like when said big, strong guy is a little grumpy (sometimes) and when they get tongue-tied around their special someone. Or the someone who might be their special someone. *fluttery fingers that might be mistaken for jazz hands but clearly aren't, thankyouverymuch*
Ed is the big, strong guy in this scenario. He's drawn to Claire from the first time he sees her and steps in when she needs help. Then her world explodes (not literally, but pretty close) and it's a darn good thing he's there to keep her from ending up a statistic on the crime blotter.
Also for the kissing. It a good thing he's there for the kissing. *nods*
I liked that Claire found her footing with Ed. She's smart and kind and his differences might have taken her by surprise, but she recovers quickly. The sexy times could have helped sway her to his side. Well, that and his gentleness with her. It's hard to be afraid of a man who works so hard to keep you safe. Plus, once they steamed up the sheets, she was pretty much ruined for any other guy. Fortunately for everyone involved, that ruination went both ways.
I have to say, I'm looking forward to seeing the others who share Ed's differences fall just as hard as he did.
Surprisingly well-written book! The mystery behind the "experimenting" aspect added a unique flavor to the story. Loved the relationship between Claire and Ed... very sweet.
My first book by Katie Allen, it was good story line. Claire is a lab geek who runs into Ed the bouncer at a club while trying to escape her boss. Ed is serious from the beginning and its hard to get read on him. It slowly unfolds into a Beauty and The Beast TV show theory to me.
Erotic Experiments is a suspense romance that will keep you on the edge of your seat. It’s an entire story, but not a complete one. I’ll explain. Two characters are featured and they get a happy for now ending. However, many questions remain about the hero's past, enemies and circumstances. The story is more like an episode where things are learned and resolved, but there's a lot more to discover.
If you’ve read and enjoyed Christine Feehan's Ghostwalker series or watched the Jason Bourne movies, Exotic Experiments should be right up your alley.
I received an ARC of this book, from the publisher, via NetGalley, in exchange for a fair and honest review.
I read the second book first...I shouldn't have read either. Terrible waste of time.
I really liked the main characters. Cute and funny book. I can't wait to read more.
A good solid hot romance. Interesting plot. Good overall writing and dialogue.
I love the idea of Claire being a hot, but smart science geek. Her hot love interest is Edward, who we first meet as a bouncer at a club. He saves Claire from her gross boss, Gordon. Edward doesn't give us much to go on in the beginning. He is mysterious and protective, which in turn is a total turn on.
I began to notice that Edward was somehow enhanced during the fire scene. Granted there were a few clues, but I didn't really get it. Once the plan to discredit or kill Claire is set into motion, Clair and Edward go on the run. The author introduces us to the idea that Edwards friends can help them.
Edward is hesitant to have sex with Claire at first. The reader may wonder why (as I did). But once they give in to their desires, the chemistry is explosive. Their sex scenes are panty melting HOT. I think the author did a great job. Overall, it was a quick, short read. If you are looking for a steamy, romance with an HEA or a (HFN?) story, this is a good one. It has some elements of science fiction, which was a surprise to me based on the description, but I quite enjoyed it.
