I really enjoyed this one! This is a new to me author and I must say I really enjoyed her writing style and her fresh take on the familiar marriage of convenience trope. The characters are well developed and the story has a nice easy flow to it. Overall a very enjoyable read and one I definitely recommend.

When Clark Wainwright agreed to do a favor for his sister, he never imagined he'd end up wearing tights, dressed as a superhero, and punching the birthday boy's dad square in the nose. While that was a very satisfying incident it also opened up a world of trouble for the little guys mom, Anna Bishop. Now he's come up with a way to fix the problem if he can just convince this woman he just met to marry him!

Sadly, this book just wasn't for me and I was not able to finish it. I may go back in a few weeks and try again. Unfortunately, I don't have real specific constructive criticism. Something about the characters and writing just didn't click and I got a little bored. I will not be posting a review unless I go back and finish the book later. If I do, I will come back and update!

I really enjoyed this one. I loved the set up - a guy helps out a woman by showing up as a superhero at her son's birthday party. So cute! The plot flowed very effortlessly. I loved the struggle facing this heroine who needs help but hates to ask for help. I can definitely relate to that so it was nice to see it in a romance. I love how the heroine's child was incorporated into the story. It felt very natural and well done. Overall, I really enjoyed watching their relationship grow. It was a really sweet story. Their connection felt real to me. And I enjoyed the journey of the book. It's a solid romance that most fans of the genre will enjoy!

What happens when a marriage of convenience turns into more? Anna Bishop is desperate to keep custody of her son, Louie. When a charming stranger dressed as her favorite superhero shows up to save her son's birthday party, Anna can't help but wonder if he might save the day. When disaster strikes in the form of a well placed punch to her slimy ex-husband's nose, Anna is threatened with the loss of custody of Louie. Architect turned superhero, Clark Wainwright, feels awful about the trouble he's caused by throwing a punch. He tries to fix things for Anna and Louie. He comes up with the hairbrained scheme to keep them together by offering Anna a marriage of convenience. He will give her his name and protection. Sounds good, right? But what happens when fiery hot attraction brings hearts, bodies, and minds into the mix? Readers will enjoy watching Anna and Clark stumble through their relationship. Fun and flirty read. Definitely recommend.

Single mom Anna Bishop doesn’t want help from anyone, but she does need a superhero for the birthday party she’s has planned for her seven-year-old. Luckily, her best friend’s brother agrees to suit up and play the role.

When architect Clark Wainwright agrees to do his sister a favor, he never expects to end up in a pair of tights…not to mention the tight spot he ends up in when he creates trouble for his sister’s best friend. Clark is a fixer, and he’ll do whatever it takes to fix the problem he causes for Anna and help her keep her son…whatever it takes…even of it means proposing.
Anna could do with a little rescuing…but it just might be Clark who gets saved in the end.

Clark is an amazing hero but he wants to fix everything...even the things he can't fix. Anna is a fantastic heroine but she's stubborn because she doesn't know how to accept help when it's offered. I loved the fact that Clark was willing to do anything to protect Anna and her son. He wasn't afraid of his feelings for them and he didn't run from them. He loves deeply. Anna has a horrible ex-husband, he threatens her at every turn and Clarks the only guy that will stand up for her. I found that utterly sexy. The way that these two characters are written are broken but together they fix each other. They love each other fiercely. This was a beautiful love story that's worth picking up and reading. This was a first for me with this author, but it definitely won't be the last.

I was given a copy of this ARC from the publisher on NetGalley for an honest review. All of the above comments are my express opinions and no one else's.

I liked the idea of this story and how Anna and Clark met when he came to her rescue while dressed in a superhero costume. It was a great set-up.

While Clark worked to help Anna after her ex-husband filed for custody of her son Louie. I wish we had been able to see more of what happened there. While a big catylyst for the plot initially it didn't seem to be as much of a focus except for Anna to say she wanted to make sure he didn't take custody away. It would have been interesting to see more of the process there, especially as the book mentioned days and sometimes weeks had gone by.

Clark was a genuinely nice guy who wanted the best for Anna, but I wish there hadn't been quite so many jumps forward so we could have seen more moments of him and Anna having the chance to connect and grow together in more than just physical attraction. There were a few nice moments they shared and his care for Louie was sweet, but I didn't feel like there was a lot of depth to the characters, even as you understand their struggles.

On the whole I really enjoyed rading this book but after a while the hero's constant reminders that he wasn't worthy of being happy, his repetitive mentioning of his guilt and his over-the-top need to fix everything started to get on my nerves. Throw in the heroine's will to deny herself happiness even if it is obvious that she wouldn't hurt her son for whom she denies herself...well, a bit too much as well.

Apart from that the book is well written and very enjoyable. Despite my problems with those two and their attitude, I'm pretty sure that I'll read it again because I really liked the characters (the rest of the time, when it wasn't about guilt and self-doubts).

George, Anna's ex-husband and the father of her son, is a bully, plain and simple. In addition to that he is also absolutely arrogant, vain and mean. Enters Redhawk, alright, Clark with his mean right hook, protecting Anna when George threatens her. To protect the damsel in distress when Anna has to deal with the repercussions for said right hook, a fixer like Clark goes to great length and so the two of them end up married in order to protect Louie, Anna's seven-year-old son.

It is a really nice story and there're enough sparks between the two to set the sheets on fire so you really get it why they end up together and it just feels right - and that's exactly what drove me crazy when Anna and Clark deal with their doubts and almost destroy the really good thing that they have there.
Fortunately their friends are there to get them back on track and we get - oh, right - THEY get their HEA.

Can't she get a restraining order? Her ex is scary.

Some parents Clark and his sister had.

What a polite little boy. At least his father didn't rub off on him. Bad enough they share DNA.

The accident could have happened to anyone.

The judge is probably an abusive husband himself.

I'd take care of the mold first, especially with a child in the house.

Ugh, she had to practically prostitute herself just to buy food for his son? George should be in jail, really.

If Louie is expected to live with Clark for some time. might as well get them together beforehand. The wedding would have been the perfect opportunity.

Who hates John Wayne?

Giving in to George is the wrong move. I'd have gone straight to the bastard's parents.

They both need therapy.
