Tissue alert!
In my mind, of course, I was hoping for a happy ending for Mason and Nicole. But I also kept thinking "How is this going to work?" Mason is in the band, Nicole is part owner (and very involved) in a flower shop. Even as the story progressed I never thought it was going to work out. Congratulations to Stina for throwing me for a loop and keeping me on the edge of my seat. Oh yeah, and making me ugly cry. 😉
5 stars!
This was not my first book by Stina Lindenblatt so I was excited to read it since I had already liked the previous ones I read. While this one was different I still liked it quite a lot... even if it took me a bit to get into the story.
I really liked the characters in this book. First we have Nicole. She was just a great girl. She was one of those girls who really knew what she wanted in her life (even if sometimes I didn't agree with her) and she fought to have what she wanted. I really liked her even if sometimes I thought she worked way too much. Mason was such a great guy too. He didn't have an easy past and did a lot of shitty things when he was younger but he tried to get better and he fought for that too. I still loved how down to earth he was. They were also so good together. I loved how when they first met again they spent some time talking. Their relationship might have started a little bit to fast but it didn't feel wrong since they talked a lot about their lives and dreams and they really supported each other. It also helps that they had an amazing chemistry together and were super cute sometimes. I also really loved all the supporting characters and how supportive they were of Mason and Nicole. I especially loved how much the Pushing the Limits guys help Mason when he went through some rough things in his life.
While I did liked this book a lot I still had a few problems with it. First of all, it took me a long time to get into this book for some reason. I don't know why it was taking me so long to read it and to connect with it but it got so much better. I also wished the author had dealt with a few things differently. For starters, I would have liked it more if Mason had told Nicole about his past gambling problems, especially knowing about her past. I also would have liked that some things at the end had been handled differently mainly because the guys from the band should have been more aware of Mason's problems seeing that they knew about what had happened to him. I also hated the way Mason's family treated him. I know he made some big mistakes but there are some things you don't and say to your son/brother.
Overall, this was enjoyable book. Once again, Stina Lindenblatt didn't disappoint and I'm getting more and more excited about her books. If you're in need of some romance with well developed characters and that talks about some difficult issues you should give this one a try.
I hadn't read any of the others in the Pushing Limits series, but I wanted to read this book because it sounded super dramatic, hot, and angsty.
I Need You Tonight certainly has all that. Nicole and Mason quickly fall into a friend-with-benefits kind of thing, which becomes a hands-off type of relationship when Nicole starts working as a social media marketer for Mason's band.
But tragedy strikes, Mason screws up, and Nicole bolts. Her own tragic pasts lines up too closely with the demons that Mason finds himself battling.
I Need You Tonight is a standalone novel despite its placement in the series. The reader meet Mason's band mates, of course, and get teases at what their stories are, but I never felt lost.
You'll ache for both characters, and you'll hope they find their way. I found myself a little bored from time to time, and I thought the ending was a little melodramatic (HEA, of course, but almost too sweet). It's another dual POV, and I was super irritated by Mason's inner dialogue at the beginning of the novel. He's a very typical rock star male character, thinking a certain way about the women around him and his bodily reaction to them. But it did get a little better. He helps her pull ugly-ass wallpaper down in her house, which in and of itself is pretty swoon-worthy.
I loved Book 2 in the Pushing Limits series (still haven't gotten to book one yet- thanks mountain of TBR) so even though I don't tend to read books about addiction because I judge them harshly, I had to read this book. This book handled the topic of addiction with care and without stigma. I can't say enough awesome things about that.
Mason is a gambling addict in recovery when he gets a text from his friend who saved his life asking for a favor. Because he owes everything to Zach, he drives from LA to check on Nicole. When he arrives, she's all grown up and he's not in a hurry to go back to LA. Nicole has a checklist of the perfect man: steady job, no risk taking behavior, stable. She doesn't know about Mason's past but what she does know definitely doesn't meet the criteria on her list. Except that their chemistry is explosive and she's never felt anything like it during any date she's had. When Mason's addiction is revealed, Nicole can't help but assume he's just like her father and that is a path she's not willing to walk again.
For the time that Mason was staying with Nicole, I thought he was a bit too perfect. He was a Mr. Fix-It, he cooked, and he did all of this without being asked. As the book progressed though, I got the feeling that he did these things because this is what family does and that's what he was looking for. Nicole's reluctance to be with Mason was understandable considering all her family had lost due to gambling and I really admired her acknowledging that while still showing how much she cared about Mason. Many books that touch on addiction show it being all wrapped up in a bow like it's easy to move past and this book didn't do that at all. It showed that it takes work to move toward recovery and stay that way. This author has a fan for life in me!!
*This is my voluntary review of an advanced reader copy*
Wow. Mason is one lucky man. Nicole is one special lady. They make for one fun loving couple. Mason has a lot of baggage from his past. Nicole has a lot of reasons from her past as to why her and Mason are a bad idea. They weren't looking for anything. Can they make it through all the issues they have? Loved this story could not wait to see where it would go. Amazing must read.
I have really come to love this series and hate to see it end. Mason is very talented and the most troubled of the guys in the band. He has a past he tries his best not to repeat but it is a hard battle. He must decide if what he has found with Nicole is enough to make the changes necessary to become the man he wants and to be. I can't pick a favorite book out of all of them but this is another must read.

Synopsis:
Old habits die hard. But in this sexy, heartwarming romance, a musician who’s addicted to the temptations of the road falls for a good girl who makes him want to clean up his act.
Mason Dell’s band, Pushing Limits, is a sensation, and he’s having a blast on their biggest tour yet. Then he gets a call from his best friend, who’s in the Navy, asking him to find out why his sister isn’t answering her phone. The dude once saved Mason’s life from a suicide attempt related to a gambling problem—so the two-and-a-half-hour drive from L.A. to her small town is nothing.
What he finds is a sweet, successful boutique owner who’s too busy to notice when her phone dies. Nicole McCormick has nothing better to do than work. She’s bored of all the men she’s been dating: stable, career-oriented guys who are nothing like her destructive father. Mason’s is a breath of fresh bad-boy air. Their sexual connection is explosive, and with her shop undergoing renovations, Nicole even joins Pushing Limits on the road. But when Mason falls off the wagon, that’s one path she swore she’d never go down again.
While Nicole picks up her broken heart and heads home, Mason misses her like crazy. Although he wants to forge a future with her, he just doesn’t know how to leave the past behind. But for love, it’s time to learn.
Don’t miss any of Stina Lindenblatt’s emotional Pushing Limits novels:
THIS ONE MOMENT | MY SONG FOR YOU | I NEED YOU TONIGHT
My Thoughts:
I have read the previous two books and I have been anxiously awaiting Mason’s story. It was certainly worth the wait! Mason is the drummer for the up and coming band Pushing Limits. He is a bad boy rocker and he loves the ladies! He also has a gambling addiction that he went to rehab for previously, after he spiraled out of control and caused his family to say they had enough and there has been no further contact. His band became his family.
Mason fell for Nicole when he went to her house to check in on her for his best friend, her brother Zack. Everything was easy between them. The pressure was off for both of them, she was off limits and he was a bad boy rocker and didn’t tick off the boxes on her list of a perfect mate. They were able to relax, be themselves and found that they really enjoyed each other’s company without the stress of sex or a relationship other than friends. Mason decided to spend his week off from touring helping Nicole make repairs on her house and enjoying his time with her.
There is catch though, their chemistry couldn’t be denied. They continued with their love affair until they were told that Mason couldn’t have a sexual relationship with Nicole while she was working for the band as a social media specialist. He didn't want to end their relationship so he took it upon himself to hire her for the band. Needless to say, the band wasn't happy, but it ended up working out well for all. Nicole and Mason shared stolen kisses until the lead singer talked with Mason about his feelings for Nicole and he realized that over the course of the tour he had fallen in love with her. He wanted her and only her. He was afraid to tell her he loved her because he was worried she wouldn’t share the same depth of feelings that he did. He didn’t have to worry Nicole was head over heels in love with him.
That is all I am going to give you as Mason and Nicole have some trials that they go through over a course of months. Could their love survive or were their circumstances just too much to overcome? You are just going to have to read this beautiful love story of forgiveness of oneself and others, learning to know your limits, dealing with addiction, and finding out that love is worth the wait.

This was my third book by Stina Lindenblatt, so I enjoyed the writing a lot. She has an abrupt way of writing some scenes, but I think I’m used to it by now, because it didn’t bother me on this book as it had done on the previous ones. I have to say though, that this was my first book of the series, and while I really liked it, I think I would have been move involved in the story if I had known the band for longer.
With that said, I really liked both main characters, especially Nicole, I liked that she knew what she wanted out of life, even if she needed to relax a bit about it. I liked how normal she felt. I liked Mason too, but he got on my nerve in the middle bit of the book there. I wish he had been more open to Nicole, even if I understood his fears. And I do feel like they should have talked more about the future.
For me, the first portion of the book, and the last one, were definitly the highlights. I loved the normal and simple life that Mason and Nicole built in such a short time back home, and how their relationship progressed at first. I also liked the resolution, though I found it a bit predictable, but I liked that the author gave the right amount of time that the issues deserved.
I wish the gambling issue had been dealt with in a slightly different matter though. Given Mason’s previous issues 3 years before, I thought that it was a bit weird that his bandmates and friends didn’t pay a little more attention. And I absolutely hated the way his family treated him… I thought maybe I was missing something, but by the end of the book, I couldn’t quite figure out their behaviour. You don’t stop loving your son or brother because of an addiction, even if you decide to cut him off of your life.
Overall, I really enjoyed this one, and I found the story deep and well developed. The romance was cute and the relationship between Nicole and Mason was well constructed and developed over time. I found it enjoyable with some serious and import themes, so I would recommend it for sure.
Mason Dell deals with demons of his past addiction everyday as works to stay on the straight and narrow. His band Pushing Limits is quickly working their way to the top of the charts of headline their own tour. Mason is sent to check on his good friend's sister and sparks fly. Nicole and Mason balance each other and make him change his tune of what he wants in life. I adored all the Die Hard references and I need the ice cream! Love never takes an easy path with emotional angst LindenBlatt does a great job combining all of it.
I love this series by this author and I loved this book!! This book is Mason's story. Mason has some issues but you can't help root for him to get it figured out. I was hoping Nicole would be the one to do so even though as his best friend's sister she should be off limits. When romance strikes can Mason control it and give it his all or Nicole destined to be heartbroken?

While I have enjoyed the other Pushing Limits stories, this one is not working for me. Too slow to start...
Received in exchange for a honest review.
Mason’s story sleighed me. He was doing what he loved but had so many demons. He fought them valiantly but he had a slip up and didn’t deal well with it. It killed me to see his family treat him so cruelly. Mason made a mistake paid dearly for it and was never ever given the chance to make amends. Instead he was condemned and treated like dirt. This did not help him when temptation was placed in front of him.
Nicole was a smart fun girl. she helped Mason ground himself and see that he wanted more. But she was also one that didn’t stand for things and stood up for herself as well. She hated to see anyone hurting but also didn’t allow that to be a crutch. I felt at first that the way her and Mason’s disagreement went was ugly but understood. She did what was needed so Mason can see life the way he needed to and get the help he needed. His future was his to determine and only he could figure that out.
Mason was gruff and adorable. Needing distractions and Nicole was one who had many balls in the air. they helped to ground one another and give each other something to focus on. they helped each other see one another’s strengths and weaknesses. they accepted each other for who they were and loved each other for that as well. No judgement came from the other only love and support. It was hard at first to watch them fight their attraction but when they didn’t wowza. And Nicole was good for Mason she got him to see himself and find peace and forgiveness. She helped him change and become who he was meant to be. Seeing him struggle was so hard but so worth the fight. He needed to see his life with and without her in order to heal and go forward. I loved how he faced the demons in the end and fought for what he wanted. I hated that he almost lost everything before this was realized. He truly hit rock bottom but worked his way out of it with the support of friends and the love of Nicole. Even when she wasn’t there she was in his heart. His struggle became yours and as you watched him come though it all you smile for he deserves his happy ending and this one is one that has you smile from ear to ear in a goofy way.
A story of acceptance, belief in ones self and facing demons. Of finding love and support and becoming who you are meant to be and forgiving oneself. Mason and Nicole have you fall in love with them as they go on a journey to finding one another and one facing their demons and finding peace within.
I loved this book, it kept me flipping pages. This story was an emotional rollercoaster with all the ups & downs and twists & turns. I enjoyed seeing this story play out for Mason and Nicole. I highly recommend this book. I voluntarily reviewed an advance reader copy of this book from publisher via NetGalley.
I loved the story and I love the Pushing Limits family. Mason and Nicole brought out the best in each other until they brought out the worst in each other. Addiction is a terrible thing. Mason had a lot of soul searching and truth telling to go through before he and Nicole could be together.
I've been reading Stina Lindenblatt's Pushing Limits series without reviewing them, but now I get my chance, with I Need You Tonight, the third and what looks like the final book. I have mixed feelings about this.
For one, it's been a good ride, and I'm not sure I want it to end. But the band members who haven't gotten their own book are mostly background noise, not terribly distinctive or memorable. So maybe it's the right time to end this series and check out the rest of Lindenblatt's backlist, while keeping an eye on her future works, as well.
I Need You Tonight is the story of potty-mouthed Mason, who is actually a very nice guy underneath the bad boy façade. When his best friend asks him to check on the friend's baby sister, he drops everything and goes. That's a trait you've got to like in a romance hero, and he's even harder to dislike when he hangs around and is helpful to our heroine, Nicole. Her life isn't quite a hot mess, but it's close, and he helps soften some of the edges that are falling into disrepair. I get where Nicole is, and I can respect her—and the idea of having like someone like Mason, who just shows up and gets busy, is truly romance-worthy.
Too bad men like this exist only in romances.
But then things get weird, or too convenient, or what have you. Nicole's business burns down, so it of course makes sense for her to take a job with the band on the road. Nevermind that she's not truly the social media specialist she is hired to be, and nevermind that putting a burned business back on its feet probably isn't something that can be done from afar. But we needed a reason for Mason and Nicole to be on the road together, and for Mason to hit rock bottom – which he does, in grand style that's nicely handled.
In Mason's case, though, the fix is too easy. He goes to rehab and boom! Just like that, he's cured. I know others have complaints about similar easy insta-fixes, and in this one, I have to agree. But I also had issues with the set-up, as well. Someone set Mason up to fail, and while authors are told to torture their darlings, when you take a step away from the author manipulation and think that a character in the story went and did this, it comes off as cold. Maybe that's part of the author's intent; the music business is, indeed, cold and uncaring. But it is also full of people smart enough to know that musicians may be your underlying income, and so you gotta take care of them. Here, someone didn't.
The flip side of that, though, is a resolution that you kinda hope for and kinda are sorry to see when it arrives. And at the same time, you don't see it coming, because what rock star actually goes and does what Mason does for the love of a woman? Okay, his self-preservation is in there, as well, and there's one thing that Lindenblatt does that I absolutely love: Mason's potty mouth only exists when he's around his band. As soon as he shows up on Nicole's doorstep, we see a different side of him and while we don't think too much about it, looking back from the ending, Mason's actions that resolve the romance are exactly right.
Overall, this has been a super fun series to read. It's light, it's young feeling, and it's optimistic. The editor in me wants to see a better proofreader, as there are some past/passed misuses and other errors that should have been caught in production, but they aren't enough to say a poor job was done. Just that this author wasn't allowed to shine as brightly as she should.
Because I think Lindenblatt is a talent worth following, and I'll certainly be following her from here on out.
Final Score - 5 No! It Can't Be Over Stars!!
This is the 3rd and final installment of the Pushing Limits series. I'm so sad to see it go, but what a BANG it went out on!
This books deals with Mason Dell. He's living the dream, as the drummer in one of the hottest up-and coming rock bands to hit the stage. He's also the resident prankster/comic relief from the previous books. When he receives a call from his best friend saying that his baby sister is unreachable on her cell and has been so for a few days. He then asks if Mason could stop by her place and make sure that she's O.K. and Mason is more than willing to drop everything and honor his friend's request - seeing as how he owes him for having saved his life years ago.
I Need You Tonight offers readers that perfect blend of topical relevance and hot, steamy, romance.
Both lead characters have pasts that are touched by gambling and it's addiction. As a result, both are reluctant to share details of their lives with each other. This of course becomes more of an issue as the story and their relationship progresses. Add the stresses and temptations of life on the road, and the unexpected death of a family member, you have the recipe for someone falling off the wagon and down he slippery slope into addiction once again.
There are lighter moments in this book, such as a wedding and the comic relief of the "swear jar". Stina Lindenblatt's ability to weave reality into her tale, in a way that makes flow both naturally and effortlessly. Her writing shows superb talent and care for both the storyline & her characters. This is not a book you want to pass the chance at reading.
An excellent book! It's the third in the series but you won't be lost if you haven't read the first two. It's very well written and I really loved the characters. Mason and Nicole have chemistry that jumps from the pages.
Mason Dell is the drummer in the band Pushing Limits. The band is currently taking some time off so he can really say no when his buddy calls from a deployment asking Mason to check on his sister Nicole McCormick. What was suppose to be a quick check in turns into more as Mason extends his stay and pitches in to help Nicole with a home renovation. His upcoming departure to go back out on tour becomes harder to deal with as the two grow close. When events and timing make it possible for Nicole to tour with the band their bond grows even stronger. Then news from home send Mason spiraling and secrets are revealed that may tear them apart.
I highly recommend this one.
Having received an ARC of book 2 in this series last year and loving it, I couldn't wait to get my hands on this book. Although Jared and Callie still remain my favourite, this book didn't disappoint and I sped trough it faster than I expected and wanted.
Mason and Nicole were interesting characters. I liked how they met and fell for each other. It was sweet and showed the good guy side to Mason. I thought the two of them worked well together to create an engaging romance where I rooted for them entire way through.
In general I liked the way the plot panned out. If I'm honest I wasn't a fan of the ending before the epilogue. A couple of things were rushed to be tied up and I wasn't keen on a few of the characters' choices. However, for the mostpart it was an enjoyable read.
Overall, although I still loved book 2 more, this one definitely lived up to the author's style and held my attention. It was a sweet and easy romance.
I Need You Tonight is one of those books that you go into thinking one thing and end up getting your mind blown because you were not expecting the emotion that this made you feel. Honestly, this had to have been the best book of the series because of that.
What I really liked is that the author chose gambling as an addiction for Mason….instead of drugs or alcohol. Which was refreshing because most of the books that I have read, it is drugs or alcohol that is mentioned. People tend to forget that gambling (along with sex) is also a bad addiction that costs people their lives and family. The author didn’t magically cure Mason of his addiction and I will talk about that later in the review.
I loved Mason. He was such a down to earth guy who would do anything for his friends. So when his friend called and asked if he could go and check on his sister, he didn’t even hesitate….he did. His friend had saved Mason’s life years before and Mason thought nothing of making the drive to where Nicole lived to check on her. I loved how Mason’s addiction wasn’t downplayed or magically cured by the end of the book. Actually, him relapsing after his father’s funeral (which I wanted smack all of his relatives except his uncle) was probably the most realistic thing I have read to date. I was impressed.
Nicole, I really liked too. She was a little surprised when Mason turned up at her house to check on her and even more surprised when she realized that she was attracted to him. She hated gambling with a passion because of her father. Her father had a bad gambling problem that ended with him committing suicide. She told Mason about it (which in turn made him not say anything to her about his problem). So she was a little surprised and a lot upset when it was revealed that he had a problem….after he relapsed. And I don’t blame her for taking off. I would have too.
The sex between Nicole and Mason was hot. I had to fan myself after each encounter. The fact that they had to be celibate because he was on the road and was technically her employer. But when they finally had sex after that….oh my.
I loved the ending and I loved the epilogue!!! I wish more series were ended like that. Everything was tied up and everyone was happy!!
