The Legend is book three in the Sons of Texas by Donna Grant and if you have been reading my blog for a while you probably noticed that I have loved the previous two books. Heck, I have loved everything I have read by Donna Grant.
You do get the previous characters from the previous books but this one is about Callie and Wyatt. This story continues from the previous books so you do have to read the first two. I promise you, you will not be disappointed.
I love that this book (all the other two) are action-packed romantic suspense that kept me reading and I found I just couldn't put down because I just loved the story so much that I ended up losing track of time.
I can't wait for the next book. You bet I will get my hands on a ARC of the next book as soon as I can and buy the finished copy as soon as it is out.
I give this 5 out of 5.
awesome continuation this was of a riveting storyline that does not quit. Two former lovers hunted by three attacking groups. Who can they trust? The shadow organization that reaches into all levels of the government across the globe has men everywhere, the chance of betrayal is high. When enemies align the stakes become deadlier and decidedly personal. Amid fast paced action and suspense and continued intrigue the Loughmans defend what is theirs against what should be insurmountable odds. This is a must read if you’ve read the first two books for an explosive climax.
Was a great and intense book! I enjoyed it thoroughly!
If you have read the two prior books in the series you know that a war is coming you just don't realize how many players are involved. Callie has helped on Loughman ranch since she was young and wants nothing to do with her family , she has also become an asset to Orrin Loughman in his search for who killed his wife and trying to stop the production of Ragnarok. A group called the Saints are responsible for it and they have no problem killing anyone in the way, but Wyatt is home and he is determined to stop them.
Wyatt and Callie got very close over a few months but Wyatt made sure he left because Callie was getting to close and his life would not be good for her. Wyatt has never forgotten Callie so when he is assigned to work with her he is super protective but it's not enough when the killers start to close in.
This story has so much action and danger but it also begins to get closer to the answers we have been looking for. Callie is one tough woman who has a lot of brains and guts but with real feelings compared to Wyatt trying to hide his. If you could read the first two books it would help you tie everything together but you could read it as a stand alone.
'The Legend' by Donna Grant is Book Three in The "Sons of Texas" series. This is the story of Callie Reed and Wyatt Loughman. I do feel that you will enjoy and understand this book better if you read the previous book. These book main focus is with the Loughman brothers and so this book opens us up to Wyatt. Both Callie and Wyatt are strong main characters that won't easily give into their feelings but love wins out for sure. This has some exciting situations...so if you love some drama and mystery to your romance this is your series.
Love Ms. Grants writing and this just added to my admiration for her.
"My honest review is for a special copy I voluntarily read."

This is the 3rd book in this series. I had not read any of the other books in the series, and whilst I did get a bit lost with previous storylines, I still found it easy enough to slip into the world and highly enjoyed it!
Wyatt has retired from the Armed Services and returned to the ranch he vowed never to return to.
But his family is under attack and it's best to concoct a plan of attack with his brothers. His father is missing after being abducted but their strained relationship meant that they hadn't been close for some time.
He never forgot Callie though. Their brief teenage relationship has been his anchor for years. He left her behind in the safety of his family from the nest of vipers that was her family.
Callie may look fragile but this girl has an inner core of steel. You'd have to to survive her family of crooks. They left her for dead when she was a teenager and she was rescued by Wyatt. But unbeknown to her he has been keeping them at a distance for years. But they are now ramping up efforts to get her back into the family and are being non too subtle about it either!
Although they have a history together I loved the slow build to passion in this story. It doesn't overtake the suspense and danger storyline but slots nicely into the timeframe. With surprising allies, Russians good and bad, bio weapons and a family that makes your stomach turn/ This is a great mix of action, adventure and romance. I loved the lead in for what I hope is the next book, after all the brothers are now sorted so time to get Dad on track to happiness!!
This book will tear your heart out and then put things right. Callie Reed has pulled herself up and out of more than one bad situation in life and kept moving forward. Even when Wyatt Loughman stomped on her heart. She kept going. Now he is back and old feelings are making themselves known. She will keep on going.
Wyatt Loughman has forced himself not to feel. Ever since his mother’s murder he has put emotion to the side except when it came to Callie Reed. But he knew he had things to do so he put her aside as well but the feelings never did manage to go away. Now there are folks wanting to kill them can he face that without telling her how he feels?
This story drops you into the middle of a war zone with conspiracies and unknowns everywhere. The only thing you can trust is your heart.
Even though this is part of a series you can read it stand-alone. Fair warning it will have you reaching for the previous books while anxiously awaiting the next.
I've been reading Ms. Grant's paranormal series for a long time and wasn't sure about a contemporary thriller so I chose to ignore this series until I was invited to read this book. Of course instead of starting at Book 1 and reading the series in order, I took a dive off the deep end and plunged right into Book 3. Now that my appetite has been whetted, I would like to go back and read the earlier two books. Fortunately you can read this book as a standalone without missing the flow of the story.
Wyatt Loughman has been honed in the fires of his hatred for his father for allowing his mother to die. He has been hardened by his sojourn with Delta forces and other special ops work that he has done for the United States Government. His single soft spot is Callie. From the day he found her beaten and abandoned the end of his family ranch he's watched out for her and protected her from afar. A short blazing affair proved the red hot chemistry between them which he walked away from to keep her safe.
When his family and especially Callie is threatened he leaves everything behind and makes his way back to his family ranch to protect Callie. But does Callie need his protection? She's pretty kick ass herself. She's a great heroine who leaves behind her criminal family to find her place with the Loughman family. Does she need Wyatt's protection? trained by his father she can shoot and fight with the best of them but what's coming for them might require a lot more firepower than they can muster together.
The Saints are a world wide criminal organization who have their tentacles in the highest echelons of the government and secret service. Mr. Loughman senior has been instrumental in stealing a bio weapon and stashing it on his family ranch for safety. With his three sons, their significant others and a handful of trusted people he's racing against the clock to expose the secrets that will assure his family's safety. In the meantime Callie and Wyatt are circling the wagons and preparing to survive an assault by the Saints, her criminal family and other war criminals who have a beef against Delta Force Colonel Wyatt Loughman.
Wyatt's charter is simple, survive against all odds, keep Callie safe and do not allow the bio weapon to fall into enemy hands. As he prepares to do just that Wyatt also finds that Callie is necessary for his life and well being. This is a fast paced story with chilling under tones of conspiracy that is so deep and chilling that it will make the gooseflesh rise on your flesh as you read.
Definitely a keeper.

The book that I have been waiting for!
Wyatt and Callie.
As I have mentioned on my previous post on the second book, I was really waiting for this book to arrive.
From the start of book one, I knew that there was something about Wyatt that made my want to read his book and I was right.
It is not easy to love someone so deeply, that you have to leave because you thought that you are giving this person a chance to grow, more importantly, you are trying your best to save not just the person you love but of your self of the heartache when that person leaves you. Being in
Wyatt shoes? He is truly a Legend. But more what I love about him, is that he loves Callie too much.
I really understand where he is coming from, but the fact that he had to literately and physical remove his emotions to the point that he had to make sure his brothers are safe? That is one testament that he loves too deeply. And yet he is afraid to show it.
As the story goes, we are shown the scarifies that Wyatt had done to make sure that Callie is safe. Boy oh boy! If that did not queue you on how he feels, maybe the way his thought ran would. It was borderline heartbreaking, at the same time, I wanna kick him in the nuts for thinking like that. Well, he is man, so… what else is new?
“Love is always complicated. What you need to ask yourself is if you can live without her. If you can’t, then you’ve gotta do something.”
These words was said by one of the sub characters in the book, And it was one heck of an eye opener.
Callie on the other hand, I love her attitude. Also her wits, and her bravery, but most of all, I love how much she love Wyatt. The pain will always be there, and yet, true love cannot be denied. I cried. Especially on how she faced the Saints. She is one woman, that everyone should be. Well, at least on my world that is.
He wasn’t whole unless he was with her.
This really tears me up. It made me realize why I love reading Ms. Grant’s books.
It’s all about emotions, How she manipulates them. How she brings it so alive in her books. Especially, the emotions on a past love that is so strong, remembering them, would bring you to your knees. Donna Grant’s books makes you want to hold on to the person you love and never let go. Because if you do, you will forever live a life without knowing what true love is.
Friendly, caring, kind, sweet, passionate, all consuming, and forever. That is how Ms. Grant’s books are for me.
As I close this review, I am left wondering…
Is this truly the end? Or will there be another one. Because, they are still hunted, and I would love to see them hunt for those who wrong them.
Not having read the first two books in the series, I was a little disorientated at the beginning but, there are enough back story to give the gist of what went on before. Although, it might have been better to have read the previous books first to get the full picture, this is well rounded and didn't affect my enjoyment or the grasp of this story.
Wyatt left home fifteen years ago after the loss of his mother. Blaming his father, his anger kept him aloof. He also left the love of his life by giving the impression that he didn't care. As far as he was concerned, staying away from his home and his family were the best solution. He is now in the Delta Force and a force to be reckoned with.
Callie comes from a difficult family and to her, she is part of Wyatt's family. They have welcomed her and given her a life that she is proud of. Wyatt's father has recovered and hidden a biochemical weapon and, the owners or more to the point, those who want to possess and use this dangerous weapon want it for their selfish cause. She is now the target of a dangerous organisation who will use her own family against her.
Wyatt and Callie find that they have to work together to survive this threat. They play it cool but, their feelings are still ingrained in their souls. There are misunderstangs and misconceptions. Quite justified! While they are planning to defeat the enemy, they discover that they can't trust anyone. Wyatt's old enemies are out to get him as well. They are cornered. Literally! They are not giving up without a fight. To avoid a prominent attack, they change their plans and have to face some dangerous and bloody situations on more than one occasion. Can they escape this dangerous predicament and rekindle their relationship? They deserve to realise what they think is an impossible dream!
Whilst Wyatt and Callie are battling for their lives, the other members of the family are fighting with the same purpose in different parts of the country. This fast paced romantic thriller kept me on my toes and had me rooting for Wyatt and Callie throughout the story. I like how everything else falls into place in the end. It's fast, full of suspense, passion and romance. There are still some loose ends after the brutal war but, everything looks promising with the new set up. A thrilling read, indeed.
I was kindly issued with an eARC and the views expressed are my personal opinion.
Wyatt has loved Callie since they were young and he has spent his life protecting her from her family from afar since he left for the armed forces. He has stayed away until now because he and his brothers have hated their father since their mother was murdered. Also, he never felt that he deserved Callie's love. Now he has to return because Callie and his family are in danger. Callie has been living at and running the ranch that Wyatt has avoided all these years. Now he's back and she's conflicted by her feelings, unable to understand whether or not they are hatred, love or a mixture of both. This is a fast-paced, electrifying read that you will not want to put down. The chemistry between these two is downright steamy!
I think I have to say that Callie is by far my fave from this series. Her spark and her give’em hell attitude was beyond epic! Then you add hot as sin Wyatt and all bets are off. This book had a lot of range from points of view so you really get an in depth feel of how this tale runs. Their story is just the icing on the cake as you move along the third installment of this series. You get a lot of answers but also a lot of questions that are begging to be answered!
I think overall, what drew me more into this story is that aside from the romance of Callie and Wyatt, you are also getting the suspense and intrigue which to me just adds more layers to the story and makes it so you cannot put it down. I would highly recommend reading the books in this series in order as you will pick up a lot of small things along the way that contribute to this one. I really hope we get to see more of these brothers though!
Can you ever forgive the past? Wyatt knows that him & his brothers have to stop the Saints from killing them all as they have plans to release a deadly virus that would cause harm to all the women in the world. Can the brothers work together to stop it before it is too late? And will they ever find their father? Callie knows that Wyatt is a good mam and she is finding it really hard being around him again, it has taken her so long to move on from the hurt but she is still so in love with him. Wyatt knows that he has to keep his distance from her, he still craves her and she has been the only person that has kept him going all these years but they both have different ideas about life now. Can they ever move on from the past or will it suck them both back in?
The saints are closer now and they have picked up some new friends along the way and they want to make Wyatt pay and if Callie gets hurt so be it. Waytt won't give her up and if it is war that they want bring it. Can the brothers get to the ranch before it is too late? What happens afterwards to them do they carry on or is it time to say goodbye for good?
Another great book in the series. Best one so far.
The Legend is book 3 in the Sons of Texas series by Donna Grant. It's a fast-paced, action-packed story with a side of romance. Wyatt Loughman and Cassie Reed have been apart over a decade when trouble at home brings Wyatt back. The chemistry is undeniable, but the hurt still lingers from the relationship that he walked out on. Thrown together to fight the bad guy, Wyatt and Cassie are strong characters. Numerous appearances from characters from the first 2 books in the series is throughout. My only suggestion would be to read books 1 and 2 to get a better understanding of the background.
The Legend starts right up where book 2 ends, so you will need to have read the other 2 books in the Sons of Texas series before picking this one up.
I have been waiting for Wyatt and Callie's story, however the romance takes a back seat in this action packed, suspenseful installment of this series.
All the tensions that have been building up, all the people out for the Loughman family, come together in a perfect storm of danger - though at times I struggled a little bit remembering who was with whom, who was the bad guy. who could be trusted. But it did all come together for me, so it is probably just me at the time of reading.
I adore the Loughman family - as fractured and dysfunctional is they may be.
A lot was tied up by the end of this book, but I was also left with much more I needed to know. The ending left this open for more books, so I hope we do get more in the future.
The Legend is book three in a continued story. I would recommend reading them in order. Each book is focused on one of the Loughman brothers but there is an overall big picture going on involving the government and a shadow organization.
Book 3 focuses on Wyatt and Callie, with appearances from all the characters in the previous books. This series is heavy on the suspense and action packed. I do wish the romance part of the story was more. It gets a bit overshadowed with everything going on but you will not be bored. It's very fast paced and ends on a HFN where everyone has to regroup before the next battle.
There is violence due to the nature of the story but no rape. ARC provided by NetGalley.
4.5 - "One fight at a time." Stars!
The third book in Donna Grant’s Sons of Texas series, finally gives us Wyatt Loughman’s story.
IMAGE.
The Legend, picks up where its predecessor left off in that, Owen and Natalie are still holed up on the family ranch, and Orrin, Owen and Mia are all out trying to track down the Scientist involved in the production of Ragnarok the bio weapon that could literally change the face of civilization, while trying to stay one step ahead of The Saints and all of their affiliated villains.
"The odds are stacked against us."
"That’s just how I like it."
Wyatt and Callie have been simmering away together since the Loughman brothers returned to Texas to search for their father, this is a couple with history, in that two months spent they together pre Wyatt leaving the ranch for a Military career have left indelible marks on the both of them.
"When you left I was still a kid. I’m a woman now."
Something Wyatt tries to ignore and Callie wants to forget, being stuck in close quarters with each other though, Callie starts to realize that Wyatt isn’t as ambivalent towards her as he would like her to believe.
For years he’d keep the memory of a girl alive, but now, the woman was in his arms. A woman who stole his heart with a smile. A woman with a fiery spirit who laughed in the face of overwhelming odds…
There are lots of POVs in this one, and it is so worth it, because you get too see everything that is going on from all sides of the coin. I have to say I think this is the best book of the series so far, Donna has now set the scene, all of the characters are now well ingrained into the readers brain that you just get stuck into the story as soon as you start reading. The action picks up in this one as well, more so in the second half of the book, but I actually felt like the plot was finally moving along whereas it felt a little stationary in the last book.
This wouldn’t be a quick battle, but a long war…
Although Wyatt and Callie have a lot of fences to mend between them, the book was definitely more focused on the bigger picture this time, a lot of questions were answered, vengeance was served to a few of the villains as well, and we also finally get the family reunion that I have been hoping for since the beginning of book one.
But, there is no way that this can be the last of the series, there are still huge questions left unanswered, Orrin and his sons have a massive score to still settle with The Saints as well, and although I cannot find any information on-line about further books, I hope that they are not long in coming, if this is the last book, then it’s a really poor way to leave the series hanging, fingers crossed for more, as the Sons of Texas series has just hit it’s stride.
"This was merely the beginning…"

This one is fast paced and action packed. Almost too fast paced at times. This far into the story there are a ton of characters involved and keeping them all straight was hard at times. I did enjoy the story though and I was glad to see all the Loughman men reunited. This is far more suspense than romance but there is the thread of romance between Callie and Wyatt. They've been dancing around each other throughout all the books and finally they have to quit lying to themselves and face whats going on between them. Overall a very good read. Just one you have to take your time through and absorb it all. I highly recommend this one as well as the entire series.
Wyatt the oldest of the Loughman brothers is teamed up with Callie Reed his old lover. Throughout the series they've been forced to work with each other while denying old feelings. In the beginning of this book they are along together. The longer they are together the harder it is to hold back. When the bad guys come calling though all bets are off. The first half of this book was kind of boring. Hate to say that but i was expecting more interaction between all the carious parties in this series. It seemed the brothers and their ladies never checked in with each other til halfway through the book and it seemed more like a waiting game for the action to start. Once it gets going though the action is fast paced. Wyatt and Callie can't deny their feelings any longer when they realize there might not be a tomorrow. The book wraps up the three book series but i was left wondering if there might be more with some of the secondary characters. Guess i'll have to wait and see. I loved the brothers and their women and some of the secondary characters were interesting and memorable as well. I would love to see more from this series!

This is the third book in the Sons of Texas series and it mainly follows the story of Wyatt and Callie and I highly recommend that the series is read in order otherwise it does not make much sense. I am a huge fan of the series and have been following it from the first book and I absolutely love the way the book keeps you at the edge of your seat with all the action and suspense occurring, but at the same time it gives you all the thing that I love in a romance novel. Wyatt's character was this strong alpha male who protects those he loves even if it might put his life at risk and I loved that he also had a softer side for Callie ( even though we rarely got to see it ). I really enjoyed Callie's character because she was strong and independent and she stood her ground and fought when she was in danger, she did not just let Wyatt protect her like a damsel in distress. The chemistry between Wyatt and Callie was great and it was good to get their background story on their relationship in this book. Donna once again managed to keep the reader intrigued throughout the entire book through her flawless writing and brilliant characters. This by far one of the best series that I have read in a very long time and I loved seeing all the characters woven into all three books, however I would like to see another book in this series as I felt that this book was ended abruptly. A great read that has definitely made be a fan of Donna Grant.
