This is the third book in the series and they should be read in order.
Callie Reed comes from a worthless, corrupt, greedy family of criminals that keeps trying to drag her back to them. She came to the Loughman ranch when she was 18 because she didn’t want that life and stayed. I love Callie’s kickass personality. She is definitely no wilting lily.
Wyatt Loughman is the Commander of Delta Force and the oldest son. He has emotional scars he wears like a shield. He’s depicted as a fearless, emotionless, calculating, lean, mean fighting machine - except when it comes to Callie.
All three Loughman sons are working together to find their dad and take down the bad guys. Only, they don’t realize how far reaching this group is. There is a lot going on in this book. Some of it a little over the top, but it is a definitely a page turner.
This is a romantic suspense with violence, killing, death and conspiracies. Wyatt and Callie dance around each other for much of the story, each believing the other is done with them.
I couldn’t wait to get this book. While I enjoyed it very much, when I got to the end, it didn’t feel finished. I was left with so many questions. I am truly hoping that there will be more in the series and look forward to reading them!
I voluntarily reviewed an ARC provided by the publisher and NetGalley.
An awesome continuation of a riveting storyline…
This is the third book in the Sons of Texas series.
Finding his mother’s murdered body when he was a young man changed Wyatt Loughman’s path in life as well as his views on his father. All emotions were destroyed that day and he left their Texas ranch to join the service and become a cold-hearted man, a man trained to kill. Now a Colonel in the Delta Force he’s sent home along with his brothers to locate their missing father and the bioweapon stolen from the Russians. Wyatt had just one regret at leaving home, walking away from the young woman that he loved but was no longer able to and could no longer afford to love, that part of him died with his mother. Yet over the years he’s anonymously protected that woman from those who meant her harm, her criminal family. Paired with her in the continuing search finds him facing longings he’d thought buried deep, no other woman ever could compare to his Callie. Can he fight the pull of the woman she’s become?
Taken in by the Loughman family when young, Callie Reed found them to be her true family of choice. She was trained by the father in weapons use and how to take care of herself in a fight. Being an expert computer hacker she also assisted the elder Loughman with his missions during the years. When he goes missing after a mission in which the rest of his team was killed there is no keeping her from trying to find Orrin and bring him home. Working with Wyatt brings back memories of their brief time together before his mother was killed, a tragic event which forever changed him. She might have understood but for her he was the one who got away and time’s passage has not changed the chemistry between them. Though she knows nothing is possible for them, with his presence her mind ponders the possibilities. If they survive the maelstrom that is coming their way is there a second chance for them?
What an awesome continuation this was of a riveting storyline that does not quit. Two former lovers hunted by three attacking groups. Who can they trust? The shadow organization that reaches into all levels of the government across the globe has men everywhere, the chance of betrayal is high. When enemies align the stakes become deadlier and decidedly personal. Amid fast paced action and suspense and continued intrigue the Loughmans defend what is theirs against what should be insurmountable odds. This is a must read if you’ve read the first two books for an explosive climax. Does it all end here? Perhaps not and this reader is dying for the more that is sure to come. The second chance romance though overshadowed somewhat by the intense plot is no less emotional for it, the characters have deep raw feelings and strong stubborn natures to combat. Things between them develop in a good progression amid all the mayhem that surrounds them. Wyatt and Callie were great protagonists.

4.5 stars The Legend is another book by this fabulous author that will be making its way to my favorites list. When danger looms and Callie is threatened she will need Wyatt help, but these two have history and they will need to put that behind them if they want to keep her alive. I loved Callie & Wyatt and the dynamics of all the characters kept me invested not putting it down until the last page was read.
Callie Reed is as tough as they come, she is an expert sharpshooter who is capable of standing toe-to-toe with any man. But when she catches the attention of some very dangerous men she finds herself a little out of her element, and in need of some serious help, so she turns to Wyatt Loughman... a man that comes with many accolades. And the minute he wanders into her world she knows she's met her match! From that point on the chemistry starts swirling, danger escalates, and these two have to find common ground in order to survive.
This was my first visit to the Sons of Texas series, and I have to say it left a good first impression. At times though I felt like I was missing something, and I think if I had I read the first two installments previous I may have had a easier time understanding certain things in the story. But with that being said I did enjoy the story, the characters were well crafted, equipped with domineering personalities, emitted serious sparks, and were loaded with southern charm and lots of tude! Overall I would say it was a good read, the thrilling story line kept me captivated from start to finish!
I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this title.
It is far from over for Orrin and his sons as they fight against the Saints and two other foes. Wyatt is the typical oldest child to the 100th degree, controlling and protective. After seeing his mother's body he grew up way too fast and took to protecting his family the only way he knew how, by disappearing and fighting battles with Delta Force. Callie became part of the Loughman family when she needed escape from her own family, Orrin took her in and trained her in everything. To the Loughman's Callie was like the sister they never had except Wyatt felt deeper than that and managed to hide it from everyone. While the family fights for their lives and tries to decipher who can be trusted, there is a love story. I really hope you have read the first two books because the story continues and flows from each brother as they try to locate Orrin, the Saints and learn who killed Melanie. This is a thrilling series with more guns and blood than romantic moments, but the kisses are there and the intimacy exists in several places. I thought it was the finale but the way it ended we could be back for more from the Whitehorse Team because the battle is not over. Thank you Netgalley and Ms. Grant from my early copy, this review was written voluntarily.
I am a huge fan of this author and this series! This book is Wyatt and Callie's story. After fifteen years apart and love they have each held deep within their hearts of each other, without the other knowing, they have had to split up to stay alive and keep the fight against the saints and the search for Orrin going.
The feelings are still there, even though they are trying to keep them in check. It becomes more and more difficult.
When trusted friends become enemies and new people become friends it can be confusing and frustrating.
Their journey is filled with action and love, surprise and strength. When it comes down to the end of this battle what will they do? Go back to the way they were or take a chance on something more?
I received this ARC in exchange for an honest review.
#3 in this series.
In my opinion it is the best so far.
I wont go into the story line as you can find a better synopsis on the actual book page.
The action is awesome and the story line keeps you turning pages, even when you have to get up early.
Read it when you don't have to get up in the morning because this is one of those that you will keep saying, "Just one more chapter."
3 1/2 stars out of 5
Supsuend your belief while reading this book otherwise readers will be disappointed at the unrealistic nature of this book.
This is the third book in The Sons of Texas series but Donna Grant and since I started with book 3 I was a little lost on the story but Donna Grant caught up readers rather quickly mixing the backstory as well as the story together. The story as a whole moves very quickly keeping readers reading at a fast pace. This story focus on Wyatt and Callie but brings in the brothers from the other series as well as the father and Kate the future romance in book 4.
Donna Grant's writing style was a little hard to chew with the typical descriptions of Wyatt "magnificent male specimen" and "He was the master of decadence". Basically Wyatt is Rambo who has the ability to get shot and still keep moving. Callie is a super Hacker tried by the CIA and Rambo father so she is able to kill without problem.
I will admit with the body count I wanted to know where they were hiding, burying to putting them? Will someone not come looking for them?
Donna is able to give readers over the top violence, character development as well as catching readers up with what happened in the other books and sets readers up for the next book making them excited to see what will happen with the Family as well as the secret organization.
The book finishes with a bang, Happily Ever After and slight cliff hanger for those who have been following the series from book 1.
Thank you to Netgalley and the Publisher for the Advance Copy of of The Legend.
PS I love the book covers of these series.
Three and a half
When I pick up a book by this author I know that I'm going to get a fast paced story with plenty of heat to help fuel the action. Having being enamoured of her paranormal romance stories I was over the moon to discover that she has now turned to romantic suspense with a decidedly military twist, plus these books feature heroes from Texas so yeehah !
This is the third book featuring three brothers and the covert ops that their father is heavily involved in. If honest I think they are probably best read in order but there is information given as the story progresses so it's easy to understand just what has been happening and boy has a lot happened!
Wyatt never got over the death of his mother and blames his father for not doing anything yet when it's obvious that his family are being targeted by a secretive organisation reluctantly he has returned home. Home is where Callie has been all these years. Their brief romance had to end as Wyatt always knew he couldn't stay but that hasn't stopped him watching out for her no matter how far away he was. Now there's a threat at the door and it's time to make a stand but keeping Callie at a distance is getting harder by the minute. Yet with so much in play and enemies getting closer will any of them survive?
Wyatt prefers to keep his distance but the relationship he has with Callie surprised me. She's come from an awful background and yet she's one tough cookie. Fragile looking perhaps but definitely underestimated and I liked seeing this strong heroine stand up to the bad guys and earn the respect that she's due. Yes their romance whilst slow in coming felt justified.
Now the storyline around this couple is anything but ordinary! Russians , bio weapons , para military groups not to mention a family who really sucked! Yes so much happening that I'm left wondering if the author will write more as the three brothers are all loved up but there's still a lot up in the air.
I cannot fault the action although this family do seem to be perhaps a little bit like energiser bunnies who keep going no matter what! What I didn't like was the way that Wyatt is written as this amazingly heroic living legend. Seeing him referred to quite early on as a lethal weapon just had me rolling my eyes but when his ahem 'prowess' was likened to something almost devine well no that just didn't quite work for me. I think what works in paranormal romance with characters who are more than human doesn't necessarily work in a contemporary story. Wyatt is human although admittedly fit and well trained but at times the opinions expressed by Callie just felt completely over the top but then she is in love and that does make us all a little crazy sometimes.
I'd like to read more but as there are just three brothers I'm not sure if more will be forthcoming but if you enjoy books from Maya Banks , Julie Ann Walker or Elle Kennedy then this series might just be up your street!
This voluntary opinion is of a copy I requested from Netgalley and my thoughts and feelings are honest and I believe fair
I got this ARC copy thinking that it would be a stand alone for the Sons of Texas series, by Ms Grant. I am sorry to say, that , at least for me, it was not an easy storyline to follow. This was the first of the series I was reading and at times I was confused.
Characters from previous books are thrown in with the assumption that the reader is familiar with them.
Also, found that the number of subplots, were more than I wanted to handle in a book. Besides the fact that not everything was resolved and I was not always fond of the main characters.
Yes it’s full of suspense as well as romance, but by the time I finished it, I was mentally exhausted and very happy to see the end.
I was gifted this copy by Netgalley. The opinions expressed are solely my own.
THE LEGEND by Donna Grant... book #3 in THE SONS OF TEXAS ...where do I start? Is there another Laughman man around...and where can I get one of my own? Wyatt is every women's dream of wounded soul and strong hero...Callie is also a woman who is strong, loyal with her own history. Together they are everyone's dream ...but can that happen? Throw in really bad guys names "Saints" and a family and a few loyal friends who fight evil and some great action in bed and on the battlefield and you get this wonderful story that I couldn't put down.
When the family organization is threatened by an outside force, old hard feelings has to be forgotten.
Now Callie has to join up with Wyatt again for the greater good, to make sure they all survive what the Saints has planned for them. Can she keep her heart out of this a second time, though?
Wyatt had to let Callie down back in the day, for her own sake, but now that they´ll have to team up, what will happen with his resolve? And will Callie be able to forgive and forget?
Military action, suspense and smut in a great combo. I recommend reading the first two books to keep up with everything
DNF at 29% I didn't connect with the characters and found myself struggling to get through the story, so for me, this one didn't work out, but I appreciated the opportunity to read the book and Thank Netgalley and the publisher for the ARC in exchange for a honest review.
This is a great addition to a riveting series. I have been waiting for Wyatt and Callie's story and boy was it work the wait. Their chemistry is amazing making the characters come to life and you are so invested in their romance you want to bang their heads together to knock some sense into them. There is so much action in this story I just couldn't put this book down, start to finish it was non stop. I absolutely love the kick ass females in this series and can't wait for more!!
Best book of the series. Loved it from start to finish. Wyatt is so alpha and domineering. Callie is sweet and sassy rolled into one. She takes no prisoners and knows what she wants and goes for it.
A Voluntary review........
I Think the Readers on GR all have heard me wax poetic's about Donna's work......so amazingly enough I will keep this review brief as you all know my thoughts on her books already (just read some of my other reviews peeps).
Okay, so this was Wyatt and Callie's book and is number 3 in the series and boy oh boy it did not let me down. I have secretly been waiting to see how Wyatt's love interest would play out and Donna did a stellar job with our independent, feisty, little spit fire by the name of Callie.
Yes fellow GR buddies this one worked for me !!
5 "You'll never be alone again baby" Stars from me !
Top notch writing Donna and many thanks for this opportunity x
Later peeps xx (see a bit shorter than usual....*laughs to self*)
This is book 3 in the Son's of Texas book series. For those of you used to reading her PNR books, don't worry because this book doesn't disappoint. I was a little iffy about reading a different series by an author I knew primarily for her PNR books. But I love her writing so figured, why not? I don't regret that decision at all! Ms. Grant definitely knows how to write a great story and keep you interested all the way to the end! This book is about Callie Reed and Wyatt Loughman. We saw both in the previous two books and I know I couldn't wait for Callie's story. She is such a strong, loyal, and just all around mouthy (which I loved!) woman. Wyatt on the other hand. I wasn't sure if I would like him based off the previous books. He just seemed like such a jerk. And then you get to know him in this book and realize exactly where his head is and why he does the things he does. Throw them together and you get a great couple. They worked together beautifully and they back each other up like the team they always should have been. I am really hopeful after reading this book that the series continues. I know I really want to read a book about Maks!!
This is lrt of a series and one must read the earlier book to know what is going on. I was hopelessly lost at the beginning. As the story progresses, I caught the gist. A prologue to explain some things would have been helpful.
Engaging characters, good suspense.
This book was just as good as the rest of the series. As yhe brothers get closer yo taking down yhe saints, the older brother is yorn between.protecting the ones he loves or following his heart and forgiving the past.
I haven't read book 1 or 2 so was a little lost going into this book......it is not a stand alone that's for sure......read 1 and 2 first!!!! It is action packed and the love story, romance takes a back seat for sure....but you kind of get that as the characters are stubborn......best part is the evil agency!!!! I will be going back and getting book 1 and 2
