Enforcer by Katana Collins is the third installment in the Harrison Street Crew Series.
After I read Ex Con - book one - and Ou tlaw - book two- is Enforcer my favorite read in this series.
Meet Ryan and Megan. Ryan is the Enforcer of the Harrison Street Crew and handles everything that is put in his way. With exception of Megan.
Megan is one of the daughters of a former Street Crew member and lives and breathes this life.
She wants Ryan but he thinks he can´t have her. He´s either hot or cold to her. Sometime Ryan gave me whiplash.
But there is not only the story of the couple, this book is much more complex. There is addiction, violence, abuse murder and much more.
I think this book is not for the faint of heart. Sometime I had to put it down and take a breather.
Enforcer is a full length novel and can easily be read as a stand alone. This book is well written and kept me greatly entertained.
I give 4,5 Stars and thank you Katana Collins.
Wow! Emotional, sexy, suspenseful - this book had everything! I did not read the other books in this series but I plan on it after how invested I was in this one. Fantastic writing and an intriguing story! I can't wait to read more by this author!
A must read. Ryan saves Megan as a child. She tries to get him to see her as an adult as she grows up. But he couldn't be with her because he was involved with her dad in keeping her and her sister safe. When her dad is killed she wants revenge.
I'm pretty sure this book is my favorite so far in this series! While I absolutely LOVED Patrick, this book was raw, gritty and so emotional. I was completely sucked into the HSC world and Megan and Ryan's story. Megan is a badass and had to endure a lot in her childhood. But despite all of that, she is a strong, independent woman. Reader beware, you too will have a girl crush on her!
I enjoyed how Katana told Megan and Shannon's pasts, as well as Ryan's, and intertwined it with the things currently happening in their world. Megan was the epitome of big sister and hid a lot of things from Shannon. As the story develops, Shannon learns of the past and things explode in a big way! Their lives have revolved around the Harrison Street Crew and while Megan thrived in that world, Shannon did not. They are opposites, but their love for each other was strong.
Ryan has done things for HSC that others do not. He is a natural protector though and he's always been looking out for Megan. Because he knew her dad, he also didn't want to cross that line. However, the chemistry between them is thick and the reader can feel their passion through the pages. He's impressed with Megan and also wants to uphold the promise he made to her ten years ago. Things don't happen the way he envisioned them or wanted them to and things get a little dicey. However, no matter what, he had Megan's back.
I also loved the animal aspect that popped up in this book. CUE THE CUTENESS! haha. I don't want to spoil anything for you reader, but I enjoy Katana's animals in her books! I love the realness this gives her characters. This story easily hooked me and didn't want to let go. I now have a lovely book hangover thanks to Katana! But isn't that what we readers want?! I HIGHLY recommend this book and this whole series. I do recommend you reading Ex-Con and Outlaw first, but I hope you will love them as well! Fast paced, action books that will suck you in! Grab your copies now!
3.5 Stars!
Third book in the series focuses on Megan and Ryan. While each book in the series focuses on a different couple, there is a bigger picture to the full series. I would not advise reading this as a standalone if you want to understand everything that is going on.
The big picture is a politician, Remy, is advocating cleaning up Southie of the car gangs to get elected. What you start to learn is Remy is dirtier than these car gangs he wants to eradicate. With each book his dirty hands are working in the background to set up individual members of the HSC.
In this book we learn more about Megan, daughter to HSC member Boots and Ryan, another member. In the beginning we get a very clear picture of how horrible Megan and her sister, Shannon have it with their drugged up mom and her boyfriend who has no qualms touching underage girls. It's not a pretty picture the author gives us, but also a way to explain how Megan has become such a strong as nails woman in adulthood and the demons she is fighting.
At 16, her dad finally learned enough about their living situation to get them out of their moms home. Ryan was there that day to help Boots and saw what Megan went through. He made a promise to her that she is now collecting 10 years later.
I really like Katana Collins writing. For not really liking the car gang storyline, she has still pulled me into the story wanting to see how this plays out. You get a "Fast and the Furious" feel about these guys in the HSC with the street racing and stealing cars. There is also a biker feel with how they all stick together and watch each other's backs.
All members are the anti-hero type. Deep down they are good men who do bad things to help others. There are triggers in this book with what Megan dealt with as a child. There is also a lot of push/pull between the main characters. Ryan is protective of Megan but also to the point of protecting her from himself.
If you are a fan of this type of book, Katana Collins does an amazing job of writing an intense storyline that will pull you right into the story. ARC provided by NetGalley.
Unfortunately a DNF. Don't take it as a reflection of the writing. I just found it too confusing having not read the other books in the series first.
Shout out to Ms. Katana Collins. I have loved her Harrison Street Crew from the beginning! Ryan and Meg's story was just what I needed. The angst, the sadness, the cracking of my heart, and the heat that Enforcer brings. I honestly feel that if you start this series from the beginning, you will stay emotionally invested with the HSC. I cried a bit, and loved through each page as well. Ryan and Meg met and even though they may have not been under happy circumstance, they were connected from the get go.
Meg is loyal. That has to be the best word to describe her. She needs to see through her promise. She has a huge heart and a lot of love that is directed towards Ryan. There is so much left unsaid and things that need to be done, there were times my mind was running in circles. *Swooning* Ryan kind of crawled into my heart. He is tough, but you will see why you can not help but fall for him.
I really loved this story. I will forever be a follower to this series. I tell you I kind of feel like I am part of the Harrison Street Crew's circle. You just can not help but grow with them! Love this MC novel and love Katana!!!
Aw man, I did not finish this. I got close, but it just pissed me off so much I gave up. I love this series - but this was a total, total miss. Mehgans entire character revolved around her sexual assault. Like, everything. There was no development beyond that point, so you can't really understand Ryan's "attraction" to her. I say that with quotes because the attraction was spoken of but never really made sense or gave you the feels. She was hurt, a victim, had a hard shell to cope with that (fair enough)... and then just nothing. There was nothing to her. Nothing likable, nothing deep or meaningful or adding dimensions or sense to the fact that someone could feel deeply for her. She wasn't a deeply characterised person.
Ryan was ok, but again... solidly two-dimensional. And for some reason the sex scene descriptors were wonky; like the anatomy was off. On a number of occasions her clit was described sort of outside and visibly on the front of her body. WHAT?? I... what? And then the scene where she pulls a gun on the rival gang and declares herself a QUEEN! NOT A PRINCESS! it was so embarrassing I skipped the rest of that chapter. Oh my god. Just don't.
Then there was her stupid sister, she was in fact the reason I gave up. She killed our bad guy, she then called in every single person who could make that MORE of a clusterfuck, and then the story just became frustratingly melodramatic and horribly trite.
I liked all the other books in this series, so I'm going to chalk this up to personal distaste. Its not often you love every single story in a series so I'm going to look for the next and just forget this one happened.
This was the first book by this author and this series that I read. I had no problem getting into this story and find myself wanting to read more of this series.
The story had a great suspenseful plot. The story had many twists and turns that shocked me with each outcome. I loved it! The story had me glued to my Kindle until I finished the book. The characters were interesting and the storyline fantastic. I definitely recommend this book if you like the MC Series of books.
I received a complimentary copy of this book from Net Galley and St. Martin's Press.
I'm so confused with this book. The time line and sequence of events was so confusing and I didn't really get it. If felt like I was jumping into the middle of a chapter not really understanding what was going on during this book. It's so choppy and not really a good flow.
‘Enforcer’ sounded like an intriguing read, with an upfront anti-hero type whose life is dedicated to a car club, which he serves by using violence and coercion. And while the MC/car club type stories aren’t usually what I go for, the premise of the book was interesting enough to begin with and in many ways, it’s unapologetically rough and tumble, suitably fitting for the cast of characters that populate the pages.
Coming into ‘Enforcer’ without reading the rest of the series is a little difficult; the number of characters jumping in and out of the pages can be disconcerting, though they do serve as a reminder that there are backstories which I don’t know. But perhaps the story’s biggest selling point is that it isn’t only just a story of an unrequited crush, but one that deals with the raw brutality of child abuse (and the consequences that can bring), the messiness of revenge and a political scandal that comes to light at the end of the book. There’s just so much packed into this that you can’t helped but be engrossed, but probably more so if you’ve been invested in the characters of the Harrison Street Crew from the very beginning.
For ‘Enforcer’, I found myself liking a main character more than the other, which most likely accounts for my on-the-fence rating of the book. Megan’s toughness and sass combined appealed loads to me and I loved her take-no-prisoners strength and sharpness in most things (especially it came to dealing with rough men like the car club members) except for the blind spot when it came to Ryan Gallagher, who happens to be the only one whom she can’t resist at all, despite the awful way he’d vacillated when it came to her. Ryan on the other hand, as the anti-hero, is a more dubious character for me, despite the fact that anti-heroes are by definition, the very dearth of morality and courage. But the anti-hero also straddles the fine line of becoming plain dislikable with his actions and I found it hard to like him at all, at least when it came to Megan, because he merely looked like a coward who would sleep with any other woman but her because he always thought himself not good enough (though he’ll just be her protector), despite her obvious advances.
Katana Collins however, does know how to write a mean, intense book. It’s probably just my preferences showing up here, though objectively speaking, it’s more a story for those who like the MC-type romances.
