Another thriller from the Rosato & DiNunzio team. Mary DiNunzio is now a partner in her friend Bennie Rosato's law office. This time, Mary is more of the primary character, and Bennie takes more of a backseat.
This thriller is a little different, the main suspect in the crime has a child with cancer.
Mary is trying to prove his innocence, and not lose her partnership, or friendship..
The two lawyers take you for quite a ride. The book is a little overly full of "lawyer-ease".
I thought the bad guys were a little too obvious, even the one revealed toward the end
A good read, but this was not one of my favorites of Lisa Scootoline.
Lisa Scottoline treats us to another great read based in Philadelphia. We return to favorite characters Mary DiNunzio and Bennie Rosato, now partners. Mary's quirky family is such a delight in these books and for me knowing the location is a draw. In this book, Mary is representing her family friend Simon who has been unjustly fired because his daughter has cancer and is causing too many expenses at the company. Unfortunately, there is a conflict of interest because Bennie represents the parent company, All this leads to tension between them and between Bennie and Nate who owns the parent company. Lots of twists and turns and fun characters.
I love this series and highly recommend it to anyone looking for a great read.
Just as good as the entire rest of the Rosato series! Love these legal thrillers featuring a team of female lawyers in Philadelphia.
I have read every single title by Scottoline in the two different Bennie Rosato series - 11 in the Rosato & Associates series and now 5 in the Rosato & Dinunzio series. They are dependably fast-paced and heavy on the legalese, with lots of friendship, family and romance thrown in. This latest title pits the two partners against one another and is a sprint to the finish in solving both litigation and murder cases - loved it!
Lisa Scottoline's latest thriller about lawyer team Benato and Denunzio starts with the team breaking up because Mary is representing a close friend who is tied to a company that Bennie's firm has represented forever and has lots of business with. So Mary, who has just become a new partner in the firm, has to make the hard decision to leave the firm in order to help Simon who seems to have been unlawfully terminated by his employer over medical issues because of his daughter's illness. There are a lot of twists and turns over the whole medical issue thing that are way too difficult to explain in a book review but Simon loses his job and Mary is a friend of the family so agrees to represent him and as a result loses her job at the firm. Of course, Bennie is torn up about this because she and Mary have been best friends for years and now she thinks that she is casting Mary aside when Mary needs her. Then Simon is arrested for murder and Mary calls on Bennie for help. Bennie comes to the rescue and Bennie and Mary are both caught up in a scheme that lands them in mortal danger because of the web of lies that the corporation that has been telling for years that has put others in danger. They can't let Mary and Bennie live, but no one knows where they are so they have to figure out a way to save themselves and Simon before it is too late. This book will have you reading late into the night and definitely cheering for the little guy! It is a "must read" Scottoline book with a lot action and details about what happens when a corporation gets too much power and too little empathy.
Nothing like an edge of your seat book. This is not a disappointment.
When Mary wants to defend her friend from the neighborhood this can put her in a bad spot, as Benni represents the other company.
Together they will decide what direction to head in as more information comes to light. They can both be in big trouble as this case moves further.
Together they have to come to a conclusion that keeps them safe.

Being from South Philly, I drop everything for a Lisa Scottoline book, especially her Rosato & DiNunzio series. In this installment, Mary DiNunzio takes on a case that is close to her heart. It involves a family friend from her South Philly neighborhood who has been wrongfully terminated. However, this friend was an employee of a company that is represented by Rosato & DiNunzio, and creates conflict of interest. This case means a lot to Mary and her family, and may well break up her partnership with Bennie Rosato. After finally deciding to represent her longtime friend, truths about his former company come to light, making for a fast paced legal thriller full of action that I found impossible to put down. The premise is very relevant to current events, and Lisa’s research is top notch. Of course the characters that we’ve come to know and love make their appearance as well. Oh, and the ending will make you so impatient for the next in the series! I was left breathless! Five stars for Exposed! Highly recommend.
Thanks to Netgalley and St. Martin’s Press for this advanced copy.
Rosario & DiNunzio novels are the best! Mary DiNunzio has recently become a partner in Bennie Rosario's law practice. Bennie was Mary's boss, mentor & a lawyer with a national reputation. They work really well together with Bennie stronger in case law & Mary stronger in the emotional aspects. That makes this case even harder. Mary wants to represent her child hood friend, Simon, a widower with a cancer stricken daughter. Simon is sure that he was fired because of the cost of his daughter's treatments. However, the parent company is a client of Bennie's & accounts for a large number of her cases. This case is pulling their firm & the two lawyers apart.
Lisa Scottoline has a talent for writing gripping legal thrillers with plot twists used for maximum benefit. Her characters are well developed & relatable. The situations they find themselves in are current topics that engage your emotions. Once I pick up a book by this author, I can't put it down until I've hit "The End".
In this book, you have both lawyers torn apart by this case. Both sides have parties involved from each lawyers past. Mary's friend from the neighborhood, Simon & Bennie's college friend, Nate. The women are torn apart from the case, differing loyalties, ethics & more. As they get pulled further into the case, they find that things aren't as they seem & accidentally put themselves in danger. Can they solve the case? Will it destroy their firm? Will they survive the ending?
I couldn't stop reading this book! I've read other books by Lisa Scottoline, and this one did not disappoint. I love how this book is full of legal jargon, but is used in a way that made me feel like I was a lawyer. The characters are a continuation from previous books, but I didn't feel like I missed any information that is relevant to this book. This could easily be a stand-alone, but works really well with the rest of the series. Lisa writes with a very fast pace and had me turning pages well into the early hours of the morning just to find out what happened.
Each time I think I had this figured out, I was thrown for a loop. And that last line? O M G.
Attorney Mary DiNunzio is dedicated to her South Philly clients. Her newest client, Simon Pensiera, is a family friend who was wrongfully terminated by his company. However, founding partner of Mary's firm, Bennie Rosato, represents the parent company of Simon's employer and feels it's a conflict of interest for Mary to act as Simon's attorney. Mary is forced to make a difficult decision. If she chooses to represent Simon, she may be sacrificing her friendship with Bennie and a job she loves.
I have been reading the Rosato & DiNunzio books for a long time and am thrilled author Lisa Scottoline has continued writing new installments in this delightful series. I was especially excited that this book features Mary DiNunzio, who is my favorite character in the series. Mary is sweet and loyal, but her intelligence and strength shouldn't be underestimated. The author says the case featured in "Exposed" is based on a real ambiguity in the law regarding what constitutes a conflict of interest when dealing with large conglomerates with numerous subsidiaries. The case is intriguing, but it's the relationship between the characters I really love. Mary's best friend Judy Carrier is there to support Mary as always, but Mary's friendship with Bennie takes center stage in this book. I found it touching to see Mary showing her strength and leadership and really earning Bennie's respect. Mary, Bennie, and Judy face challenges in this book, but their friendship and working relationship ends on a high note. I loved the book and can't wait to read the next one!
I received this book from NetGalley through the courtesy of St. Martin's Press. The book was provided to me in exchange for an honest review.
I have read several Lisa Scottoline books and have enjoyed them all. This is my first time with Mary and Bennie and I really enjoyed them too. This book had a very good plot line and I liked that it was also about what makes a family. I would highly recommend this to Scottoline fans.
This is another book in the Rosato & DiNunzio series. Mary DiNunzio is faced with a dilemma. Now a named partner, she wants to defend an old friend from the neighbourhood in a wrongful dismissal case but there is an apparent conflict of interest with an important client of the partnership.
The legal issue is not clear cut and Mary makes a choice which not only endangers her working relationship with Bernie Rosato but also their personal relationship and even their lives.
While being another fast action, thrilling read from Lisa Scottoline, this book again envelops the reader in the warm embrace of a South Philly Italian neighbourhood. This is a very entertaining book which grips the reader and holds them to the end.

In Exposed, Lisa Scottoline's latest book, it's Mary DiNunzio's turn to shine. Mary's dear friend Simon is fired from his job as a salesman, and it seems he's fired because his terminally ill daughter is costing the company too much money for her insurance and care. Simon comes to Mary (he's family, after all!) because he wants to sue to get his job back, or to at least get a settlement that would cover his daughter's medical expenses. It seems to be an open and shut case, but Simon's employer is a subsidiary of Bennie Rosato's, Mary's partner. Neither is involved in the other's cases, but it seems that it could be a conflict of interest, an ethical problem. As Mary and Bennie try to work out the ethics of the situation, what should be a simple open and shut case goes majorly awry when an ethics complaint is made against Mary, Simon is counter-sued for defamation, and Simon's boss Todd shows up stabbed to death in his car. What should they do to resolve the ethical question? Can Mary represent Simon? Should Mary and Bennie dissolve their partnership? Should Bennie marry Declan, the love of her life? How does family factor into these decisions? So many interesting questions rear their heads as Bennie and Mary race against time to solve the Todd's murder before the police charge Simon and lock him up. It's a real page turner, AND it makes you think about things at the same time. "Exposed" is the perfect thing to take on vacation or to the beach and enjoy.
Loved this book it's got good plots if your in the mood for A thriller and mystery great book for you.. highly recommend this book. WOW
Exposed is the latest Rosato & DiNunzio novel by Lisa Scottoline. Parts in the beginning of the story are a little slow when the legal debates take place over conflicts of interest between Mary and Bennie. Once the legality issues are mostly over the story picks up nicely and is difficult to put down. I was given an early copy to review.
"Exposed" (A Rosato and DeNuzio novel) by Lisa Scottoline
What starts out as a seemingly easy case, which Mary takes on, leads to a whole host of legal ramifications, personal ramifications, and familial ramifications.
With so many twists and turns, it will take teamwork on the part of Mary and Bennie, to figure out how and why Simon has been set up; the conspiracy and who it truly involves; and how to keep themselves and each other alive long enough to ensure the correct men face justice.
If you love mystery and suspense novels, this one is for you. Not only will you love this novel, but the whole Rosato and DeNuzio series.
Rating: 4.7
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
** I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this novel.
Mary and Bennie make a great team in this book full of twists and turns. I like that Mary has become more forceful. The ending is fantastic!!!
This is my first book from the R&D series, but I picked up much along the way. Lisa loops in the past perfectly.
The book opens when Mary takes a case representing an old family friend, loyalties run deep; the same day her partner Bennie takes the case representing the parent company. Obviously a conflict of interest for both attorney and clients, neither are willing to give up their respective cases resulting in a split between the two. Mary's friend Simon was relieved of his job on the grounds of poor sales, but actually a medical issue with his 4 year old child has the company coughing up money.
There are so many legal issues addressed in the first 2/3 of the book, you kind of have to be law savvy to stay with it, add to this case the murder of Simon's boss which now brings murder charges into play. The book gets very intense with lives being threatened and things just getting so convoluted with the plot. Lisa is such a great writer, she keeps the reader on track, but man can she weave a tale that keeps you glued to the pages and turning just as fast as you can. You're never sure of the outcome, she never tips her hand. Such a great writer. I'll read the next book.

There's good news and bad news. The bad news is Exposed is part of an ongoing series, but the good news is you don't have to read the other books in the series to know what's going on. While the main characters remain intact through each book, there is a stand alone novel, but to be fair, I plan on reading the other books in the series just to see how they measure up. From just this novel alone, I like Bennie and Mary, but as the book goes on you can see cracks begin to form in their partnership because of a case that Mary has just taken on.
Exposed starts out pretty simple. Lisa does mire us in legal hell for awhile, but once you get through that, it's smooth sailing. These parts of the book allow us to see that she's done her research, and it adds a tedious bit of realism to the novel. The draw here is Simon who is a character you can't help but like, and even cheer for. You see what he's going through and your heart breaks for him. The thing is, it feels like a simple legal thriller, but underneath the surface is something far more sinister. This is where Scottoline shines as a writer. She's able to elevate the simplicity of the story and add another layer to it so it becomes a compulsive read you won't be able to put down. When it comes to thrillers, I crave a great story, and characters I can either relate to, or cheer for.
The conflict between the lawyers is nothing compared to what happens to Simon as the case takes a turn into far sinister territory. Exposed is both a legal thriller, as well as a novel full of suspense. At times, it does seem a bit predictable at times, but there's enough twists and turns here to matter, What it boils down to is the story, and how invested in it you become. This is a writer who gives you great characters, and plenty of moments where you begin to question where the novel is heading next. It's the things you don't see coming that really draw you in. It becomes more than just a case of wrongful firing, and becomes something else entirely. Sure, you could say this is nothing more than fluff, but sometimes we need fluff, we need novels that entertain us, and I say thank Lisa Scottoline.
When this is released on August 15, I happen to think it's going to do pretty well, and it should. For fans of fast paced suspense, you can't go wrong with Exposed. It sounds cheesy, but it's the perfect beach novel, and most importantly, it's a book to read when you want to be entertained. Exposed delivers on a variety of fronts, and shows fans that these types of books are popular for a reason. Pre-order yourself a copy, you won't be disappointed.
Readers, get ready to do your happy dance!!
Lisa Scottoline never disappoints and Exposed is no exception. It is full of unexpected twists and turns - her story line, characters and style keep the reader engaged and on the edge of their seat from the first page til the last.
this is the 5th book in the Rosato and DiNunzio partnership - It has a great Legal case, Continued character development of the regulars with some engaging new characters, and the plot never gets stale. The resolution and ending are so satisfying, I actually smiled and clapped my hands after reading the last page.
Well done!! Thanks to #NetGalley for the opportunity to preview a fabulous new release by one of my favorite authors. I really enjoyed this story.
Lisa Scottoline, over the course of her many books, has perfected the art of the taut, well-paced, suspenseful mystery. Exposed focuses on a challenge to Mary and Bennie's still relatively new partnership when an old friend approaches Mary to defend him against his former employer, who turns out to be a major client of Bennie's. The legal issues and personal issues involved threaten to disband their partnership.
There are a lot of legal issues at play in this one, and Scottoline details them all in ways that are clear to the non-lawyer reader, without making it seem out of character or an info-dump. The characters are given plenty of room to further develop, without sacrificing pacing or plot. The stakes remain high, and the story is fascinating throughout. While this may be a book by an author who can sell books based on her name alone, this story was not phoned in- it's going to please fans of the author and could attract new readers as well.
