"He would regret kidnapping her, she's make sure of that. For he would soon discover that she was not a willing captive."
FINAL DECISION: Filled with fun and adventure, I really enjoyed this second book in the Embraced series. The story of Brigitta and Rupert added to the legend in the world of Aerthlan. A paranormal with a historical feel, the book read like an old fashioned serial -- in a good way.
THE STORY: In the world where those born when the moons eclipse have magical powers but are hunted and in danger, some of these Embraced have found refuge on the Isle of Moon. Brigitta has spent most of her life hidden in the convent on the Isle of Moon; she is Embraced. On her way to join her sister of the heart, Brigitta finds out that she is a princess whose evil half-brother wants her back to help secure his bloodline to the throne. Just about to be taken by his troops, Brigitta is kidnapped by the pirate Rupert who is Embraced and has the power to harness the winds. Rupert has plans to use her against her half-brother, but has many secrets of his own. Including one which involves Brigitta herself.
OPINION: This book is one adventure after another as Rupert and Brigitta meet, deal with Rupert's abduction of Brigitta and then also confront her half-brother. There are sea battles, dangers and, of course, love aplenty. Secret identities, lies, hidden motives, abound along with varying paranormal gifts.
Brigitta, along with her "sisters", have been awakened by the events of the first book in the series. They are now aware that they may not be orphans but may have some secret unknown pasts. As the series progresses, I expect that we will learn their stories. Here, we learn that Brigitta comes from a family of usurpers of the throne. There is no happy family ending waiting for her. Brigitta is an interesting mix of naivete and practicality. She has an innocent heart, but at the same time, she has strength and a determination to chart her own destiny. Having a hidden past, Brigitta is just finding out who she is. This is her time to create herself after finally reclaiming her true identity.
Rupert has a different journey. He knows too much about the past and it haunts him. His story is not reclaiming the past, but rather his finding freedom from the past that at times overwhelms and smothers him. He also happens to be a sexy, powerful sorcerer who rules the seas. His story here is also a discovery story. Rupert is rediscovering who he should be. In a real way, he is rediscovering himself as well. A man who has kept himself hidden, he might have more knowledge than Brigitta, but he has also been unable to claim his true self.
A swashbuckling adventure, the story barely has time to take a breath before a new dilemma arises. It truly feels like an old time serial where the hero and heroine just solve one problem before a new adventure presents itself. I really enjoyed the pacing of this book which felt exciting and fun. I somewhat expected the ultimate twists and turns of this story, but the frantic pace kept the story moving.
I thought that this book picked up the ball from the first book in the series and moved the story forward. I get some sense that there is a larger narrative at work. Perhaps I am wrong, but I think these individual stories might be building towards a bigger conflict or solution.
Onto the next book of the series -- next year, unfortunately.
WORTH MENTIONING: Special bonus for fans who read the first book -- twins!
CONNECTED BOOKS: SO I MARRIED A SORCERER is the second book in the Embraced series. While this book can be read as a standalone, there are overlapping characters so if that bothers you, read the series in order. The romance in this book starts and is completed in this book.
STAR RATING: I give this book 4 stars.

I received this novel from Netgalley for an honest and unbiased review.
I have to admit that I am a sucker for anything written by Kerrelyn Sparks. I will admit that So I Married a Sorcerer ranks up there in my top five faves from her though! The fantastical world of Aerthlan where two moons reside in the sky is a place of dragons, elves, and the Embraced. The Embraced are people who are born on the day when the two moons connect and they are born with extra abilities (such as controlling the weather and calling lightning from the sky).
In this second installment in this fantastic series, it follows another sister of the Isle of the Moon. Brigitta. Brigitta is able to search out secrets from a mere touch of someone's flesh. She, having grown up in a convent on the Isle of the Moon does not know that she is a noble descendant of one of the five kingdoms in Aerthlan. She only finds out after being kidnapped by a pirate A pirate who is the true king of a usurped throne and he needs his Embraced mate to get said throne back!
Sparks has done it again in writing an enchanting fairy tale that anyone would be delighted to add to their bookshelves. And though I received this on my kindle, free of charge, I have also ordered myself a copy for my forever shelf! Can't wait to see what she has in store next in this engrossing world of magic!
4.5 stars out of 5
This is an amazing paranormal romance story filled with tons of adventure and humor throughout that had me laughing out loud and left me with a huge smile on my face and I loved this! This reminded me of The Princess Bride in the best possible way and this fairy tale definitely kicked some serious butt!
There wasn't a dull moment to be found within the pages of this compelling story and I never wanted it to end! I am a huge fan of this author and can't wait to see what kind of crazy adventure she's going to take us on next! I highly recommend reading this to anyone.
So I Married a Sorcerer is book 2 in The Embraced series. I did read the first book and I did enjoy it.
This book is good and I did read this book in one day because I just didn't want to put it down. The story is different from what I have ever read before.
I give this 4 out of 5.
I read the first book in this series about six months ago and really enjoyed the story and the set up so I was eager to read this one. The title for this one is a bit misleading the cover a bit off putting. I know these are romances with a fantasy/paranormal twist but bleh. Horrid.
Anyway. At first I didn’t enjoy this one as much as the first one mostly because I found Rupert (ha, also a really ridiculous name although it’s not his real name. Actually his real name isn’t much better) really annoying for half of the book. He kidnaps Brigitta, one of the women raised on the Isle of Moon because she’s embraced and being embraced is still punishable by death in a lot of places on the ‘mainland’ of kingdoms. Rupert is a notorious pirate who has dedicated his life to getting revenge on Brigitta’s brother and he plans to ransom her to him in order to get even more of his gold. He has a (well placed) hatred of Brigitta’s brother but he spends a large portion of the first part of the book also attempting to hate Brigitta simply by association. He also gets mad at her brother for wanting to hold a tournament for her hand because that’s using her, conveniently forgetting that he’s using her himself for his own gain. Brigitta was sent to the Isle of Moon as a baby for her own protection and has not had anything to do with her family since. She didn’t even know who they were. The idea of Rupert blaming her for their actions is laughable, especially as Rupert is supposedly presented as this incredibly fair and just man with strong morals (even the pirate thing is a bit of a furphy). Some of the stuff he comes out with is so hypocritically laughable that I spent a large portion of the book incredulous at his stupidity.
But if the first half of the book is ordinary, the second half is actually quite good. Brigitta begins to take her destiny into her own hands and learns a lot about herself, her heritage and what she could have. Rupert calms down a bit in wanting to do everything his way and there’s quite an interesting plan concocted to attempt to thwart Brigitta’s brother’s plans for her. There’s a lot of action and sneaky plots and a few interesting minor characters that are definitely more than they appear. A section of this book also works to set up the next book, introducing the reader to the people of a country (Kingdon? Nation?) bordering that of Brigitta’s brother and it looks very interesting. I did feel that there were still things in the second half that felt a bit awkward (like the sudden 180 of Brigitta’s brother’s personality) but for the most part it was very enjoyable and I really liked Brigitta. For me, she was the backbone of the book because her character was so well done that it sort of camouflaged the fact that Rupert’s was a little bit weak. I enjoyed the sideplot of the captain and the nun which added a touch of humour and sweetness but mostly I find myself excited for the next book. There are dragons.
The romance could’ve done with a bit of work, it felt a little forced in places. I’m not sure how I feel about the destiny aspect of these novels. I think that because these meetings are predicted in the games the girls of the Isle play with the stones that there’s less work put into orchestrating that chemistry and making it sizzling. Rupert and Brigitta never really felt like they had much chemistry for me, because the set up was all in that first half where Rupert is being a bit of a giant pill. The second half was a bit better, during the competition where Rupert is no longer concerned with using Brigitta but it’s a bit hard to get behind a character who has kidnapped the woman in order to ransom her to a man generally acknowledged to be a heinous person. If Rupert was smart enough to locate her on a ship as she made her way from the Isle to visit her sister, now Queen of one of the mainland Kingdoms, then surely he’s smart enough to realise she’s been raised in seclusion away from her family and was a tiny baby at the time who literally had no idea what had even happened. I did really like both of their gifts though – Rupert’s controlling the wind certainly gave him an advantage against other ships and he was pretty good at what he did with the pirate thing. And Brigitta’s gift definitely gave her an advantage in that it allowed her to discover things that Rupert didn’t want to tell her. Otherwise she’d have been kept in the dark about a lot of things and she was the one who really had ideas once she did know those things.
This one was a bit of a mixed bag for me – really liked Brigitta and the second part of the story and the way in which they worked together as a team but the first part felt like it needed a little bit of work in terms of making Rupert a credible character. I’m really looking forward to the next one – the bond these girls have from being raised together is amazing and I am enjoying their journeys as they leave the Isle and fulfill their destinies.
6/10
Kerrelyn Sparks sure knows how to spark one’s imagination with her interconnected, intricate plots that unfold in each of her stand-alone but on-going “Embraced” series. Though I had some writing issues with this new to me author in the first book, the multi-paranormal concepts in this particular series keeps me coming back for more.
I definitely felt the writing and large cast of characters were more enjoyable this time around, but I must confess at times it felt overly l-o-n-g. At almost 500 pages, I can’t shake the feeling the tale might have better been told in only about 300 pages or so. If you don’t mind a leisurely pace, you may feel differently.
The first portion set the stage well, had great character development, main couple chemistry, and featured quite a bit of action and drama. However, it was the sea voyage that supposedly only lasted a fews days but felt like months had me impatient for the characters to do more than just walk back and forth between decks noticing one another. By 60% I felt anxious to see the pace pick up. Around 75% into, I found myself once again trapped into waiting day by day for a week long event involving villainous sub-characters I had no interest in to get over with so the main couple’s relationship would give me what the title promised. At least some of their large posse of friends were around to lend assistance and diversion.
For me a big highlight was whenever the main couple used their special paranormal gifts, especially Rupert’s when he became agitated/irritated. I kept picturing Captain Hook from the tv series Once Upon a Time (played by Colin O’Donoghue). This handsome, good guy pirate hero struggles with fulfilling what he vowed to do years ago to avenge his family vs being the man he knows he needs to be to keep his damsel in distress, lady love in his life. As someone who doesn’t mind seeing villains killed off, I found it rather sappy and unbelievable how quickly a switch was flipped and all seemed to be forgiven towards someone who did not deserve it.
If you are looking for a leisurely paranormal read that has a medieval era feel, you may want to travel along with Rupert and Brigittia as they embrace their destiny and fight off an evil foe to be together. I am looking forward to the dragon drama that awaits Gwennore, one of Brigittia’s convent sisters, as she is matched up with a character named Silas.
Title: So I Married a Sorcerer, Series: The Embraced (Book 2), Author: Kerrelyn Sparks, Pages: 496, stand-alone but part of a series, pirate out for revenge, sweet/innocent/damsel in distress heroine, both have supernatural powers, a few steamy scenes. Rating: 3.5 stars

Book 2 - So I Married a Sorcerer (Rupert & Brigitta), Pages: 496, 8/29/17

A fun second book to the series. I'm ready for the next one and to see what adventures await the next sister.
Book review of So I Married a Sorcerer by Kerrelyn Sparks
If you liked the Love at Stake series by Kerrelyn Sparks, you should try her new series, the Embraced. The setting is a fantasy world called Aerthlan where all babies born on the night the two moons eclipse will have a magic talent. The law says these “embraced” babies must be put to death, so children are sometimes hidden by those who love them, although they would also be killed for protecting them.
So I Married a Sorcerer is the second book in the series which continues the adventures of the five embraced adopted sisters from the Convent of the Two Moons: Luciana, Brigitta, Sorcha, Gwennore and Maeve. Luciana won her true love in the first book, How to Tame a Beast in Seven Days. This time, it is Brigitta’s turn to have those spooky “Telling Stones” predict her future of romance and adventure – Blue, gold, seven and eight. She will be meeting a tall, handsome stranger and have seven suitors compete in a contest to win her as prize. Brigitta does not accept the inevitability of the future predicted and tries to choose her own destiny. She refuses to accept fate without a fight. I love her persistence and strength.
Mother Ginessa and Sister Fallyn are accompanying the four adopted sisters on an ocean voyage to support Queen Luciana in Eberon as she is about to give birth. Fate intervenes. Turns out that Sister Ginessa has lots of secrets, one of which is that Brigitta is the lost princess of Tourin. Her brother, Gunther, discovers where Princess Brigitta is and has sent his navy to bring her home. Before this can happen, Brigitta is kidnapped for ransom by the infamous pirate, Rupert, a wind sorcerer. Rupert is embraced and his talent is controlling the wind. He keeps himself disguised and this drives the curiosity of Brigitta wild. Her talent is knowing secrets and finding lost items. They both fight the attraction, constantly sparring with words and fearing the secrets they both hide will be disastrous, if discovered. After all, it is a death sentence to be embraced in most countries of Aerthlan. Rupert competes in a barbaric contest to win his Brigitta, to try to save her from the fate her evil brother has planned.
One of the themes of this book is trust. Can love survive without trust. It is very difficult for both Rupert and Brigitta to trust each other with their secrets. A lot of their dialogue is sarcastic and comical. I especially like one of the repetitive comments made by Rupert which is a double entendre. There are many twists and turns in the storyline that weaves an awesome love story and happily-ever-after for two people who are meant to be together and have had a lot of tragedy in their pasts.
My favorite part of the writing of Kerrelyn Sparks is her use of comedy. Sister Fallyn goes with Brigitta when she is taken by the pirates as her chaperone and protector. Hilarious, as Sister Fallyn is quite useless at both tasks, however these pirates are not your usual violent swashbucklers. The interplay between the honorable Captain Stefan and Sister Fallyn with the delightful urchin cabin boy, Jeffrey, as referee is laugh out loud fun.
There is a short description of the fantasy world of Aerthlan in this book, so it is possible to read it as a stand alone. However, it is best read in order, so you will enjoy understanding the “foreshadowing private jokes” as the story progresses - Brody, the perfect spy; some of the secrets Brigitta is hiding; the Chameleon is back; and also foreshadowing for book #3, because we get to see more predictions for the upcoming books. I am guessing that Sorcha from Norveshka may be the next heroine as she went first in this game of the Telling Stones with nine, pink and lavender, but we will see.
Kerrelyn Sparks is very talented at storytelling. So I Married a Sorcerer is filled with magic, romance, adventure, comedy, lust, murder, betrayal, revenge, loyalty, excitement and true love. Everything you could want in a romance. Open up your heart and let your imagination free. Allow the magical tale of a love that would not be denied between Brigitta and Rupert to entertain you.

'So I Married a Sorcerer' by Kerrelyn Sparks is Book Two in "The Embraced" Series. This is the story of Brigitta and Rupert. Brigitta along with some other young girls were brought to the Isle of Moon when they were very young. This was their save haven from trouble that was looking to find them. They all became 'Sisters' and lived at the Convent of the Two Moons. Now in their present day they are traveling aboard a ship to visit with their 'Sister" Queen Luciana who found her happy ending and now is about to give birth. Along with the sister traveling with them is Mother Ginessa. Brigitta is unsettled by a predication that her and her sister found out about in the Telling Stones they created. It tells that Brigitta will meet seven suitors in eight months and it revolved around the Royal Colors of Tourin. Well the time frame is here and Brigitta is worried for her future. When the ship they are on is stopped buy the Royal Navy Guards of Tourin Brigitta knows something is wrong. When confronting Mother Ginessa...she finally tells her that She/Brigitta is a Royal Princess of Tourin. And that her half brother Gunther is looking for her. We learn that Gunther is not a good person and that he killed the Brigitta younger brother and rightful Heir to become the King.
Rupert spies on Gunther and learned that he was looking for his sister that everyone thought was dead. Now Rupert to is looking for her and he arrives at the ship about the same time as Gunther's men. But Rupert is looking for revenge and Brigitta is the key. Rupert met Brigitta before when she was a baby and even then she had a calming effect on him which appears she still effects him.
I loved the first book in this series and this book didn't disappoint either! I truly enjoyed their story and hope to read more in this series soon. I am so curious about each sister and their stories.

So I Married a Sorcerer by Kerrelyn Sparks is the second book in her Embraced series. But rest assured that each book can be read as a standalone. I would definitely suggest reading the first book before getting to this one but it is not necessary. You know how there are some books which just make you happy- while reading them and after. They leave you with a smile on your face and you can't stop giggling at some parts. Kerrelyn Sparks' books fall into that category for me and So I Married a Sorcerer was no exception.
This is the story of Brigitta. She has lived her whole life with her sisters on the Isle of Moon. She knows nothing of the dangers of reality but she soon discovers that she is a princess and wanted by her half brother. It also just so happens that she gets taken by a pirate on the way. I loved Brigitta. She was sweet and fearless. Life threw curveballs at her but she just kept going. Brigitta was one of the nicest heroines I've read about like most Kerrelyn Sparks' heroines.
Then we have Rupert, the infamous pirate. On the surface Rupert may seem like any another pirate in his greed for gold but actually he has hidden intentions. He has his reasons behind kidnapping Brigitta. Rupert was a great hero. He took care of his people and protected them. He tried hard not to fall for Brigitta but he really couldn't help himself.
Brigitta and Rupert were great together. Time on the ship only brings them closer though they are both keeping secrets from each other. Kerrelyn Sparks has a way of writing an ensemble cast where every person has a role to play and still doesn't get confusing or repetitive. We get a sweet side romance as well which was very cute.
Along with the romance there was an equal amount of action and adventure. There are several plots which move forward and Kerrelyn Sparks has built such a rich world that there are several undiscovered kingdoms and realms. It is difficult to categorise So I Married a Sorcerer. The book is a combination of historical and romance and paranormal and fantasy but the author makes it work and work well. I would suggest this book for anyone looking for something a little different and humorous.
*Note: A copy of this book was provided by the author/publisher via Netgalley in exchange for an honest review. We thank them.
This is the second novel in the Embraced series and I highly recommend reading this after reading the first novel, How to Tame a Beast in Seven Days. Kerrelyn Sparks has done a wonderful job creating the world and the back story of each character that you immediately feel as if the world is real. This entry features Brigatta who was left as an infant on the Isle of Moons. Brigatta grew up thinking she was an orphan when in truth she was a Princess that had been used to destroy another royal family. So when she is kidnapped by the infamous pirate Rupert she doesn't know which fate is worse, kidnapped by a pirate or returned to her murdering brother who only wants her for the heir that she can provide.
This paranormal romance had a bit everything - suspense, romance, action and a bit of humor. I'm definitely looking forward to the next in this series.
I voluntarily reviewed an ARC of this novel.
I loved this book! I enjoyed the first book in the series, How to Tame a Beast in Seven Days, so I was really excited to start reading this book. This book was just as good as I had hoped it would be. Once I started reading it, I didn't want to put it down and ended up reading almost the entire novel in a single day. I didn't want it to end because I was having such a good time getting lost in this magical world. This really was a joy to read.
Brigitta and her sisters from the Isle of Moon are on their way to be with Luciana. During their travels, their boat becomes a target and Brigitta learns that she is actually a princess. She ends up on Rupert's pirate ship along with a nun to act as her protector. Rupert is a pirate and is known as a sorcerer. He has the power to control the wind which turns out to be rather handy while at sea.
I really liked Brigitta and Rupert together. They just clicked right from the start. They had a lot of things in common and just seemed to connect with each other and had a lot of chemistry. Their relationship did move pretty fast but it worked with in the context of the story. I loved that Brigitta and Rupert had equally exciting backgrounds and I wanted to keep learning more about each of them.
This book was incredibly exciting to read. There were a lot of scenes that were just filled with action. I loved how Brigitta and Rupert's special abilities were described in this story. I wouldn't have imagined how exciting the power to control the wind could really turn out to be. This book really does a little bit of everything with some really funny moments worked into the story and a pretty entertaining secondary romance.
I would highly recommend this book to fans of paranormal romance. While I do think it is possible to read this book as a stand alone novel, I think this series is best enjoyed in order. I cannot wait to get my hands on the next book in this delightfully entertaining series.
I received an advance reader edition of this book from St. Martin's Press.
In this second book of The Embraced series, Brigitta, who grew up as a supposed orphan on the Isle of the Moon with others like her, meets her fated mate in Rupert, a notorious pirate. They both come from royal backgrounds where their families where brutally taken from them. This story has a Princess Bride vibe with even some “as you wish” lines and, of course, Rupert’s pirate persona. Brigitta, like her “sisters” is a brave young woman with a good heart. Her embraced talent is finding lost things and being able to see the memories of people she touches. Rupert is a sorcerer who has the power of wind which is quite handy for a pirate. He kidnaps Brigitta intending to use her in his quest against her brother, King Gunther, whose family is responsible for his loss. As they get to know each other, things change in unforeseeable ways.
Brigitta is a strong heroine who does not let the restrictions on women of her time keep her from fighting against evil and helping the man she loves. She and Rupert have time to develop a relationship while planning to overthrow the bad folks and gain freedom for those in Gunther’s kingdom who have been used and abused. As in the first of this series HOW TO TAME A BEAST IN SEVEN DAYS, this story is a good mix of action, romance, humor, and fantasy characters such as shifters, dragons, and Fae. It is a fun and entertaining ride for fans of this genre.
So I married a Socier by Kerrlyn Sparks is the second book in the series. Brigitta and her her sister are on the way to go see her sister give birth. While on the boat Brigitta is taken hostage by the infamous pirate Rupert. He has no plans to give back the beautiful princess. She is his betrothed but she has no idea. Rupert plans to kill her brother the king. But will he be able to kill the king before he finds out who he is?!! Wonderful story by a amazing author! Action, adventure, romance. You cant put the book down till it's done!! Highly recommend!!!
I'm having a difficult time writing this review. I read the first book, and while I found it to be a little slow, I thought it could be due to the world building necessary, and was looking forward to the next installment. I was somewhat disappointed because this one still felt slow to me and took me awhile to get through. My other issue, and my biggest problem, was that she acted so stupidly at times. I wanted a heroine who was strong and capable, and at times I saw that, but at other times I was frustrated by her actions. That being said, I loved the world and the story. I am still looking forward to the next book of the series.
I am SO in LOVE with this world!
First, let me say that I had not read any of Kerrelyn's work prior to this series. I had won a copy of How To Tame A Beast in 7 Days from Goodreads Giveaways, but hadn't been able to make time to read it until after I received approval for this ebook from NetGalley. I managed to devour both in just 2 weeks! Due to personal & professional issues, I've been in a reading slump so that is a testimony in and of itself.
Brigitta & Rupert's story is one of star-crossed lovers. Betrothed almost at birth, Brigitta has no knowledge of her former life due to being raised by the sisters on the Isle of Moon. Rupert was old enough to remember everything - including how Brigitta's father slaughtered his entire family following the betrothal in a bid for the crown.
Richly detailed and fantastically written, I would recommend this series to anyone who enjoys Maggie Shayne's or Nora Robert's more paranormal stories.
**I received a complimentary copy of this ebook via NetGalley.**
So I Married a Sorcerer is the second book in The Embraced series by Kerrelyn Sparks. It is currently scheduled for release on August 29 2017. While those that have not read the first book in the series will be able to enjoy the adventure and romance fully, I think those that are reading the series in order will enjoy it more because of the recurring secondary characters and the larger story arc that carries across the books.
Growing up on the Isle of Moon, Brigitta knows nothing of her past, except that she is Embraced: born with powers that forced her into hiding. Everything changes when she learns she’s a princess, hidden away from her villainous half-brother who now rules the kingdom. But he knows about Brigitta, and he’ll do anything to get her back. Unless a certain roguish pirate has anything to say about it. Rupert is both an infamous pirate and a sorcerer with the power to harness the wind. He’s been waiting nineteen years for revenge, and he needs Brigitta to get it. What begins as a kidnapping of the fiery beauty turns into a fierce attraction. But can he win the captive princess’s heart?
So I Married a Sorcerer is a fun and adventurous ride. I loved the characters, and who can resist a noble pirate, especially one with so much heart. I enjoyed Brigitta's spirit, gift, and intelligence. While there were moments when I wanted to kick the nun travelling with her, she seemed just as exacerbated as I was. I was highly entertained by Rupert's second in command, and the cabin boy on the ship. It really is the character development and interaction that makes Spark's work so engaging. I cared about the characters, found their banter amusing, and felt for them as they faced troubles and worries. Some if the twists and turns I saw coming, others came out of the blue and I was pleasantly surprised. I was thinking about the characters, including the secondary characters, well after I finished the book and moved onto the next on my list.
So I Married a Sorcerer is a good continuation to this series, and I fully plan on following the rest of the story. I am eager to see the rest of the sisters find love.
So I Married A Sorcerer by Kerrelyn Sparks
The Embraced #2
Five sisters of the heart raised on an island in a convent will have their stories told through this series. The world building of Aetherlan is superb with five kingdoms in need of…something. The prologue tells enough to set the stage and then…a story begins.
In the first book Luciana finds her future in Eberon with Leo and as book two begins the four other sisters of the heart are on their way by sea to be there when Luciana has her first child. Brigitta is taken captive by a pirate and believes her future, as foretold by the fortune telling stones, is just beginning – BUT – who is the tall handsome stranger that was predicted?
With dragons, shapeshifters, “embraced” with unexpected talents, an evil stepbrother, murder to be avenged, a contest for the hand of fair maiden and a whole lot more this is an action-packed fast-paced book with adventure, romance and a happily ever after ending that makes me want to find out what will happen in the rest of the books of the series. It will be difficult to wait for book three that is not expected to be released till sometime in 2018.
I liked this book but for some reason the first book seemed a bit more mature while this one a bit lighter hearted or perhaps not as deep and for that reason I bumped it down a bit in stars in comparison.
Thank you to NetGalley and St. Martin’s Press for the ARC – This is my honest review.
4 Stars
First off I want to say that this is a series you should start reading with book one - not hard as there are only two right now.
I loved this book. I will admit to not reading much romance lately but Ms. Sparks is one of my favorites.
I loved both Rupert and Brigitta for so many reasons. The banter and chemistry between them...sigh...just sigh (that's a good thing!)
This was a great romance filled with humor, romance(obviously LOL) and adventure and it was just as good if not maybe just a bit better than the first one! LOL
I enjoyed visiting both main and secondary characters from the first novel and can't wait for the next one.
