Do you also love big bad bikers with tattoos in leather? Well, if that description excited you, then this book will positively leave you panting and breathless!
Caleb Laramie, "Eagle" is the president of the Iron Norsemen MC. A MC situated in Holly Beach Louisiana. He is still trying to get over the death of his one true love, Angel. It's been almost five years and he is only just returning to the land of the living. He knows that he needs to face the truth, but it seems that that is easier said than done. That is until he meets a feisty and sassy stripper at his friend's bachelor party. No woman has been able to entice him since losing his Angel. But it seems that this Italian beauty just might be the light to bring him out of the darkness.
Serafina Scala knew that it was a bad idea to come back to Holly Beach. She has had a number of surgeries to alter her appearance, but still fears that she will be recognised. Even though she knows the danger that she faces, she still can't stop herself from seeing the man that still haunts her dreams. Especially when he saves her from a very sticky situation...
You don't usually expect a MC romance to be as emotional and even sweet as it is hot and raunchy. But "One Taste of Angel" is definitely just that! It seems that sometimes the heart sees much better than the eyes and it won't be fooled! I truly hope that Violeta Rand will write many more novels in this series. I would really like to see Serafina's best friend, Asia, get her own story.
A lot of over-the-top storylines here that require a tremendous amount of suspended disbelief.
Eagle meets Serafina and they fall insta-lust/love. Eagle doesn't know that Serafina is his "dead" first/only love, Angel, who faked her death to get away from the bad guys and miraculously had facial reconstruction surgery so she wouldn't be recognized. The whole thing is over-the-top and made me wonder WTH?!?!? as I was reading.
I wasn't very fond of the storyline in this book. Im sure that others will enjoy it, but it just wasn't for me.
One Taste of an Angel was a great second chance at love story. The story is well written. I couldn't put this book down. It kept me on the edge of my seat. It's filled with so many emotions. The characters had scorching chemistry. Great start to the Iron Norsemen MC series!
I really, really from the bottom of my heart, wanted to love this one..
But i got to the 57% mark and the book went downhill from there
Their love was the stuff of Shakespeare - two star-crossed lovers from rival MC's, divided by their families' bloody history, but fate has given Eagle and Serafina a second chance. Can the biker and the stripper find their redemption in Violetta Rand's sexy standalone romance, One Taste of Angel?
Eagle
I’ve bled for my club. Taken four bullets. Buried eight brothers in six years. Screwed a hundred women. And only loved one. The one I lost. But there's something about Serafina that reminds me of just exactly what was taken from me. Not just because I can't resist a damsel in distress.
Serafina
To Eagle, I’m dead. Murdered and cremated, my ashes interred at the local cemetery. Part of a past I left long ago to save his life. Seeing him now, touching him again makes me weak, even if he doesn't recognize the woman I've become. Since my escape from Holly Beach five years ago, I’ve lived by my own rules. And no matter how much I love Eagle, he’s not going to break those rules.
Review:
Dark and gritty are the first things that come to mind after reading this story.
These two star-crossed kids really got the shaft 5 years ago, Eagle almost dies and Angel/Serafina fakes her own death. Both end up kind of lost and empty without the other and then fate puts them back together and others try to keep them apart.
Both Eagle and Serafina are very interesting characters, lots of layers to them, which I liked. The story is good and kept me reading wanting to see what would happen next. The sexy parts are excellent and very well written. Now, there is some violence, drugs and violence against men and women. It all makes sense to the plot and lives of those in the book, but could be an issue for some reading, especially the violence against women.
This is the first book in this new series, so you can get on-board now and not miss anything in the series. At this point it seems these books will be self-contained but you never know.

I’m a lover of MC romances so when I had a chance to read this book I jumped at it because it sounded so good. We have a biker, Eagle, from one club who has eyes for a girl, Angel, from the rival club plus she happens to be jailbait at this time. Their relationship grew over time and Angel has fallen in love Eagle. She would do anything to protect him and his club which has become like family to her. When she found out that her low-life brothers not only got their mother hooked on drugs they now planned to sell Angel into slavery and would come after Eagle and his club next. She did the only thing a 16 year old would think to do…she ran. She went as far as having plastic surgery to change her face. Angel couldn’t take any chances of anyone finding her and she would do anything to keep Eagle safe.
Years have passed and Eagle never move on to anyone who could possibly be old lady material and Angel still only loves Eagle. She hated that she had to let him believe she had died so when she had a job back in her home town she had no choice but to take it and hope no one would recognize her. Eagle is now president of his MC and the surviving brother of Angels is president of the rival. So does Angel make it through her one night job and is she able to keep her secret from everyone? It becomes a little tougher when its Eagle who has to come to the rescue of Serafina and he feels a connection with her that he has only felt one other time in his lifetime.
There are a lot of secrets that come out and a lot of ups and downs. The author does a great job of pulling you into this story and then keeps you entranced the whole time. I definitely have found a new author and can’t wait for the next book to come out in this series.
I received this book as an ARC from NetGalley for a freely given and honest review.
I have read a couple of Ms. Rand’s NA books and they were okay but I didn’t know what to expect from this book except a lot of angst, However, ONE TASTE OF ANGEL was surprisingly good, well-written and enjoyable, quite low on the angst and a very sweet story, too.
You never forget your first love and for Caleb 'Eagle' Laramie, even though he slept his way through a large swath of women, he's never gotten over the only woman he ever loved and their doomed romance, but for the first time in five years, he may be in a place where he be interested in another woman for more than just a quickie, all thanks to the fiery and prickly stripper. But what happens when he realizes that the woman he's falling for is not exactly who he thinks she is and that he may have spent the last five years mourning based on a lie?
Serafina Scala may have been tricked into becoming a stripper, but she's definitely not going to keep quiet and let herself be exploited by her boss. After all, she knows all about re-inventing herself after faking her own death and making cosmetic changes to avoid the future her brothers had planned for her. But seeing her first and only love again after five years is something she was not prepared for, even though he does not recognize her. Can she take this second chance life is offering her without revealing who she really is and without staring another war between the Iron Norsemen and her brothers' MC? Will Eagle forgive her for her deception?
The list of authors whose MC romances I've enjoyed is very short, but I'm glad I took a chance on this one because even though it was set in that world, it really was more a story of an enduring first love and second chances. Serafina was very prickly from the beginning and I liked that she was no wallflower but as the story unfolded, I enjoyed her character even more and respected the strength it took for a sixteen year old to make such difficult choices.
Eagle is a ride or die brother, totally dedicated to his motorcycle club, with the scars to show for it. But when it comes to his Angel, he's a softie through and through but he will fight to the death for her. The author also gives us a glimpse into the seedy side of this lifestyle as well as the bonds that keep these together. This was a really good read and I'm definitely looking forward to more in the series.
What happen when the president of a MC falls for the woman he thought was dead?
Here’s what’s going on. When Eagle rescues Serafina from a bachelor party, there’s something about her that he’s drawn to and he’s willingly to do anything to protect her. There’s a reason Eagle’s drawn to her, even though he doesn’t realize it. Serafina is Angel, the woman he loved and thought was dead. She fake her death to save them both from her brother’s MC. And now that she’s be found out, the danger is back.
The blurb of this one intrigued me. It offered ‘two star-crossed lovers from rival MC's, divided by their families' bloody history’. So basically, they’re supposed to be the Romeo and Juliet of the MC world.
And things were going good. The prologue had all the danger and grit I love in a MC romance and the first few chapters had me hooked. Then it started losing that MC feel and started turning into a bit more mainstream. Eventually it did pick up that MC feel again only to lose it after a few pages. That rival MC feel that was promised, was lacking because there was very little club business going on. Sure, it was mentioned from time to time but nothing like what I was expecting.
I did like Eagle. He’s been through the ringer. Angel’s ‘death’ not only crushed his soul, it caused his Iron Norseman brothers to die. So, he’s been emotionally gutted and, at one point, he was ready to give up just to be with her. I didn’t really care for Serafina/Angel. She just seemed selfish, even when she had a chance to confess who she was, she let Eagle believe she was someone else. And what I couldn’t understand is why she faked her death rather than going to the Iron Norseman for help. The club accepted her as one of their own and would do anything to protect her. And Eagle was a big boy, if she would have told him what was going on, he could have handled things.
So, the romance was hot and steamy and there was an attraction between them but I couldn’t buy some of the romance, especially once he found out she was Angel.
A few things just didn’t make sense to me like how easy it was for Eagle and the rest of the Iron Norseman to accept Angel back into their lives. Her actions caused club members to die and nearly cost them Eagle’s life. Lives were lost and trust was broken so I just don’t see a them accepting her back into the fold. Then there’s this whole ‘we’re one percenters’ thing. Yeah, they’re totally legit, so definitely not one percenters.
Overall, the book promised more than it delivered. If it would have just been a modern day Romeo and Juliet story rather than a MC book, it would have made a world of difference and I would have rated it higher. As a MC book, I just couldn’t buy their actions.
This book turned out to be a very powerful story. Eagle who is the president of a motorcycle club comes to the rescue of a striper by the name Sarafina. She is actually named Angel and five years ago died in order to save Eagle. Now five years later her she is face to face with him. The only good thing is that he does not recognize her. He is though attracted to her and is wondering why. This story has everything you want in a book, sex, action, murder, and intrigue. Sarafina is still in love with Eagle even though it has been five years, and Eagle has had only one love Angel. What will happen when he finds out that she is alive, and better yet what will her brother do since he has been wanting her dead five years ago. There is a lot going on in this story and the author makes it all work. I found this to be a very good story and I liked the two main characters very much. Overall a very good book.
Three and a half
I was in the mood for am MC book and spotted this by an author who I haven't read before and the premise sounded very unusual . The idea of a heroine from a rival MC taking off and returning years later after plastic surgery sounded so far fetched that I just couldn't resist downloading it! Yes it's a second chance kind of idea but still it's well written with truly disgusting bad guys who just happen to be Angels relatives!
Eagle is very easy to fall for, still mourning his dead lover and yet moving forward and looking after his club brothers and their interests. Meeting the dancer Serafina kind of throws him as she is probably the first woman who has actually interested him. Oh he's not been celibate but he has never got over the death of his beloved Angel.
Angel knew that her time with Eagle had to come to an end as her brothers constantly threatened both her and those she cared for. Leaving everything behind to the young, naive Angel seemed like the only solution but circumstances bring Eagle crashing back into her life . He's still tough but somehow now Eagle is even harder with a shell that's hard to crack and yet the attraction , the pull is as strong as ever. Can Angel walk away or will she stay for just one night ?
It is hard to believe that at just sixteen Angel would have the moxie and resources to change her life so radically but I went along with the idea as what her brothers intended would have anyone running for the hills. The two rival MC's are very different with the Dead Dogs being portrayed as amoral, vile characters whereas the Iron Norsemen, whilst not exactly squeaky clean are shown as more protective and almost wholesome ( for bikers anyway!) . Eagle is to my mind young to be the Iron Norsemen's president but I can't fault the way he is portrayed as he is strong enough to know what needs doing and what to avoid. Yet the war between the rival clubs has only escalated with the 'death' of Angel and it's been a hard price paid by both sides.
Essentially this book is about the two lovers finding each other again. I really liked that they got their resolution and particularly the fact that the Norsemen were involved. What surprised was the end as Eagle really does use all his resources but my lips are sealed! Emotional and intense but most important to this reader a happy ending
This voluntary review is of a copy I requested and my thoughts and feelings are I believe honest and fair
4.5 Stars
A great second chance love story, will plenty of heat and action.
This book is told in a dual POV with some very strong characters and a deep story line. It places perspective on how people judge bikers. We see that although Eagle is the President of the president of the Norseman MC, he has also had a rough past and steps up to help Serafina when she is being threatened. The attraction is intense but will their pasts keep them apart.
I loved the story and these two characters. It was told with passion and this is just the beginning of a series that I look forward to following.
One hell of a ride from this MC romance from Rand. I loved the passion and destined love story, between Eagle and Serafina, which rose from the ashes to start anew.
I voluntarily read an advanced review copy of this book
I loved this book. There is nothing like a hardcore biker that fell in love...lost love... and then somehow found it again. I loved both Eagle and Serafina they both lived a ruff life but somehow made each others life just a little bit more beautiful. Great job Violetta Rand!
While I'm quite fond of biker romances, I found this to be rather lackluster. Everything was so formulaic that I predicted the entire plot by the end of the first chapter. I can't fault the writing itself but I was bored enough that I won't read the rest of the series.
ARC was given by publisher on Netgalley
I tried my damndest to get into this book, which is sad, because I absolutely love a good MC book. For some reason, I just couldn't connect with the characters no matter how hard I tried. Though, I will say the writer has good flow with the story line itself.
I think the problem lies with me. It just wasn't for me. And maybe I wasn't in the best mindset to read this book, since RL Decided to go crazy on me. So maybe soon I will have to give it a retry. Though, I do think if you like a strong female(which I do), you'll probably like this.
One thing I will give this book, it had a interesting premise, and one I hadn't read yet.
So if you like drama and angst, I suggest you check this one out, even if it wasn't one hundred percent for me. It might be for you.
Arc given via netgalley & publisher for honest review..
MC's are my downfall!! I love love love them!!! This book. Is full of sexy alpha bikers...
this was a truly amazing book... full of heartache & sorrow... love & danger.. I absolutely loved Eagle & Angel!!!
Two people from rival MCs find love? Angel and Eagle did but it all ended with Angel’s death, or did it? Serafina enters Eagle’s life and she reminds him of Angel. Will Eagle learn the truth and will they have a second chance at love? Lots of emotion and drama. I really liked the fast paced read.
I love MC books, so when I saw this I knew I needed to give it a try.
Eagle has been mourning the death of the girl he loved for the last five years. When he sees Serafina at a party, he is so drawn to her that he decides he is maybe ready to move on and put Angel out of his mind. But Serafina is hiding something and finds it extra hard to stay away from him even though she feels she must.
So....I liked Eagle for the most part. He was protective and strong and had a sweet side. Serafina was a bit unbelievable for me. She faked her own death and had reconstruction surgery - all at the age of 16. What? I have a 17 year old who would be clueless as to where to even inquire about such things, much less be able to carry it out. I rolled my eyes at Serafina often.
I liked the MC business and the guys we met were interesting. I LOVED that this was in Louisiana and the author didn't overdo the Cajun accent.
*thanks to the publisher for sharing a copy of this with me*
This is a good, quick read and leans more towards the darker side of romance. I loved the premise of the book and thought it was different from other MC romances that I've read. The main characters had good chemistry and I even got jealous for the heroine-which is funny because she's also the other woman. There are great secondary characters that I'm sure will get their own stories in this series. Definitely a fast paced book that doesn't pull any punches. The hero is sexy, with a dirty mouth and the heroine selfless with a tough as nails attitude. Looking forward to more installments in this series!
