Fantastic book! 5 Stars!!! to Jilted (Love Hurts #2) by Sawyer Bennett.

Coming July 11th 2017

Cooper and Eden.......

What a brilliant book! This book was amazing in every detail. The author gave us real, likable and unlikable characters. Every page flowed effortlessly into the next. From the first page to the epilogue (which I loved!) I was engaged in the story of Cooper and Eden.

Eden was special; she was just perfect. Her character was honest, loyal, kind, generous and personable. Even when situations for her were less than good ones, her strong personality shone through.

That said, Cooper was not so likable at first. He was outright mean to Eden when she returned to their hometown. He was also spiteful and I thought he acted immaturely sometimes. I admit to wanting to smack him on more than one occasion for his assumptions. Because of their past, I thought that no matter how guilty Eden might have appeared, he should have given her the benefit of the doubt. He didn't.

Eden and Cooper were high school sweethearts. They loved each other from that young age and always planned on a life together.

Unfortunately, plans change.
Cooper and Eden mutually ended their relationship.

When Eden came back to town after being away for more than a decade, she was shocked and dismayed, not to mention a little more than confused, to find she wasn't welcome.

Circumstances had thrown Eden and Cooper together. There is angst and childish behavior between them at first. That said, I loved everything. Watching Eden and Cooper find their way back together was magical. But for them it was difficult. Even so they each secretly hoped to have a second chance at a future together. Unfortunately that might not happen.

Jilted does have many 'feels.' This book and its outcome warmed my heart. The intimacy between Cooper and Eden was sexy and erotic; their chemistry was undeniably scorching hot!

There wasn't a single thing I did not love about this book! Oh wait...there was one thing I hated. Actually I should say there was one person I hated. But you'll have to read for yourself and see if you have the same opinion. ;)

Jilted is the second book in the Love Hurts series. The books are standalone and not related so it doesn't matter what order you read them. I do recommend you read book one though, Sex In The Sticks. I adored that book as well!

*Book received from NetGalley. My review is honest and unbiased.

Summer is here, just in time to enjoy the latest fun, frivolous, fabulous Sawyer Bennett romance. I'm not a big fan of second chance romance, but this was lots of sassy, steamy fun. Turns out second chances, rebound sex, and cupcakes are a great combination, just like former high school sweethearts Eden and Cooper now that they are older, wiser and way sexier.

A refreshing change from the usual second chance romance trope is the lack of bitter drama. Eden and Cooper was in love as teenagers, but made the difficult but mutual decision to split so to follow their dreams. Years later, they both have what they want and can acknowledge that at painful as their break was, it was necessary. There are no nasty recriminations or bitter "I told you so". Even better, both are frank and open about not being celibate while apart. No slut-shaming here. Once the initial misunderstandings and dramas are dealt with, there's nothing to keep Eden and Cooper from indulging in a scorching, no holds-barred affair.

Best of all, I loved seeing our hero doing a well-deserved grovel. It was a satisfying end to their fun romp (I wanted to high five Claire, Eden's assistant, the entire time).

One major sore point for me, however, was the weirdness involving Eden's grandmother. It really bothered me that there was no explanation for her coldness to Eden, much less her leaving part of the house to Cooper. The illogic and incompleteness of that really bugged me.

4.5 stars

Second chance novels are a favorite of mine. This book was packed with drama yet we saw the characters playful sides. Cooper and Eden's relationship is strained by the perception of the person that she's become. The hometown locals don't cut her any slack and give her the cold shoulder. It's obvious that Eden lost touch with Cooper and his family but she never stopped caring. Her glamorous life is not all it seems to be. Misunderstandings have caused a big whole in their friendship but once the truth is revealed their relationship takes on a whole new perspective. Cooper and Eden must put their guards down and rediscover love! I really enjoyed how well balanced and written this book was.

Sawyer Bennett is one of my top "read everything written" authors. So, getting an ARC for this book was really exciting! Part of that excitement was because it was a different approach for her. As was Sex in the Sticks (Love Hurts #1). This hometown girl coming home after For-evah and then some was a pretty entertaining read. As always, Bennett gives a realistic side with a great deal of preface and details. For example, our starlet and our landscaper...I really felt like I knew them when it was over. What I loved about Coop was his really hawt and honest approach to, well, everything. Overall a great read. Highly recommend it, esp for fans of Bennett...it's another swoony hawt read

***ARC ***

I was offered to read this for an honest reveiw.
Small town girl made it big in modelling then acting but along the way she left behind her first love.
Small town boy turned to a love them and leave them type of man when he and his first love agree that a long distant love is to hard.

Eden turned into a big time Hollywood actress and Coop took over his Dads landscaping business then expanded it, both are doing really well in their work life but personally....
After a disastrous relationship Eden decides she need some time away from the spot light and heads to the one place they don't know where she'll be, home. Only when she gets there she finds out that her late Grandmother left her a surprise in her will a roommate, her first love COOP.
Coop never thought he would have to be in the same town with Eden let alone share a house with her, his feelings for her become soured after a misunderstanding as does the whole town, can Eden put things to right or will she run again?.
Even after 14 years apart their chemistry is off the charts.

I love a good second chance love story and this book didn't disappoint.

Another winner for Ms. Bennet. It was funny, cute and relatable. Even though Ms. Goodnight was a movie star, her small town charm was there.

Jilted is another awesome creation from Sawyer Bennett's imagination.
Following a rather embarrassing situation, a return to home roots, some crazy juvenile behaviour and an rekindling of past relationships the reader gets to know the people of Newberry.
A thoroughly engaging novel and a fabulous trip into southern America.

I make no secret that Sawyer Bennett is one of my go to authors, I love her style of writing, I love her characters and I love how I feel after reading one of her books, this standalone gave me everything I want from a book, It's a second chance romance that's also a fun read.
Eden Goodnight is in Hollywood to make a name for her acting career not a name that's associated with a cheating partner so when she is humiliated at a red carpet premiere by her fiancé she heads home to lick her wounds. Cooper Mayfield was the man she left behind and he still lives and works in the small town Eden has run too. Will the time spent together rekindle old feelings and what happens when Eden is offered the role of a lifetime, will she leave Cooper for a second time.....
I fell in love with Eden and Cooper, they felt real, they felt like friends and their lighthearted banter was a breath of fresh air. This book has it all, its emotional and funny and let's not forget the Hollywood glamour. I read this book in one sitting, it drew me in from the first page. Once again Sawyer Bennett has shown that she is very good at what she does and she has given us yet another 5 star read.

Jilted is the second book in the Love Hurts series by Sawyer Bennett. You can read it as a complete standalone since there isn't any connection between the couples. Just that well...Love Hurts. I read Sex in the Sticks and recommend reading that as well because it was just as kick ass. Anyway, back to Eden and Cooper's story...

Eden Goodnight had to get away from L.A. Away from her cheating fiancé. Away from the paparazzi. Away from her life. So she decided to go to the one place she once belonged. Her hometown of Newberry, Georgia. She has only been back once in the last fourteen years but it was calling her name. When she got there she wasn't exactly welcomed back with opened arms. It was the opposite in fact. She knew it would be somewhat of a shock to be back but that was an understatement. First, her first love tells her to turn around. Then, the whole town seems to want the same thing. She is confused to why but when things become clearer she decides to stay. And to her surprise, Cooper wants her to stay as well. Just until she feels like she doesn't need to hide anymore.

Cooper doesn't hate her. But he also doesn't love her. He tolerates her. He even cares a little. But that's with every woman. He doesn't do relationships. Not since she left to New York to pursue her dreams. The town knows the score. It's just sex with the woman until their time is expired. So when Eden suggest some rebound sex while she is in town, he agrees. It's just another expiration date. She will go back to L.A or whatever city she needs to go to film her next movie and that will be it. But, what if she gets to his heart again? Will this just be second round of the same thing from fourteen years ago? She goes off to be a star while he stays behind?

Damn. I just love a second chance romance! The connection and navigating their way through the person the other has become is just amazing. Cooper and Eden have changed in many ways but their core hadn't. They knew what was important but now know what to do about it. If that makes sense. They were eighteen when they went their separate ways the first time. They have grown since then. But, can it work? She loves acting, it's her passion. He loves his small town and his business.

Overall...I loved it. It's a fast read full of sexiness, heart, and soul searching. There is also some drama. The characters are lovable, crazy, and so much fun.

P.S. I really want a cupcake right now.

Quotes:

“Cooper Mayfield is the biggest asshole on the face of the earth and I need a cupcake like right now.”

You are in so much trouble tonight. I almost feel sorry for you.

“You want cake don’t you?” I tease her.

Eden and Cooper were high school sweethearts who broke up when life took them in different directions. Eden went on to become a top model and then an Oscar winning actress. Coop returned home and now owns his family landscape and design business. They have not been together in 14 years and have hardly spoken at all.

Eden returns home after a disastrous breakup in front of cameras with her Hollywood boyfriend. She escapes to what she believes to be her childhood sanctuary. She discovers Coop now lives there and was given a list estate by her deceased grandmother. Eden does not take this revelation well and so ensues some childish behavior on both of their parts.

Coop mistakenly thinks Eden knew about what transpired in the fire at the high school. Both he and the town hold ill-will towards Eden that she knows nothing about. His behavior toward her was juvenile and not well thought out. When he realizes his mistake, he does try to own his part. Eden is shocked and dismayed to learn what happened and sets about trying to rectify it.

Both Eden and Coop were both emotionally closed off at points. Their earlier breakup did a number on both of them. Their brains were telling them that rebound sex would be okay, their hearts were singing a different story. You will have to read the book to find out what happens with them. I will say it was not a smooth ride. Both had baggage and didn't really acknowledge their true feelings for the other. For their age, I kind of expected a bit better from them. They both acted like spoiled children at points and I was hard pressed to come up with a plausible excuse for their behavior. Coop's unwillingness at points to compromise drove me crazy.

The ending was nicely done and worked out well for these two. I really did enjoy this book and was grateful to receive an ARC through the author and NetGalley.

Eden is the it girl in Hollywood and walking the red carpet when she discovers the news. Her fiance has been screwing around on her with the leading actress in his movie. She lets him have right there gor.everyone to see. Feelimg embarrassed and angey she goes to her home town where she is sure no one will look for her. When she arrives she fimds Coop living.in her house. Then when in town she feels like the townspeople hate her. Her life turns upside down when she discovers a second chance at live with Coop.
I found myself thinking about what the famous people have to put up.with in their lives. How shallow and fake the people can be. I loved how the characters grow and face the differences in their chosen carrer paths. Would they fight to make a life together happen or give up like before? It is a great read!

Eden is a movie star engaged to Brad who is also a star. They are at Brad's movie premier when a reporter asks Eden what she thinks of the pictures of Brad and his costar. She goes off on him about cheating on her, makes a scene, and leaves. She ends up going back to Goodnight, Georgia where she is from. She has only been back once for her grandmother's funeral in 14 years. Her grandmother was not very good to her, especially after Eden's parents died when she was 15. When she gets to the house Coop is there mowing the lawn. Coop and Eden were so in love when they were young and went their separate ways with Coop finishing college and Eden going off to model.

There are a lot of misunderstandings between Eden and the town and Coop. The town treats her terrible and won't talk to her which she doesn't understand. Eden and Coop are forced to live together. Coop broke up with a woman he had been seeing for sex, and she doesn't take things to well. I loved seeing how Coop and Eden had matured since the 14 years that hadn't seen each other. Coop finds out what a good person Eden is once he gets to know her again. There are many shallow people in Los Angeles which makes you wonder why people would want to live around that. There is also a lot of sex in the book. Sawyer Bennett’s books are always a joy to read. She has a way with words that make you feel you are there in the story. It is a very good story, and I strongly encourage you to read the book. I voluntarily read an Advanced Reader's Copy of this book.

Sawyer Bennett is quickly becoming my go-to author when I want a fun contemporary romance that has the perfect amount heat but plenty of plot to keep the story going. Eden and Cooper were once high school sweethearts but when Eden found stardom, she and Cooper realized they had different dreams and that a long distance wouldn't work for them. Now fourteen years later, Eden has come home again to her small town as a successful but jilted actress. What starts off as simply "rebound sex" morphs into way more. Bennett creates great characters that you can't help but like so much so I hated to see the story end. I can't wait to see what is next in this series!

I voluntarily reviewed an ARC of this novel.

This was exactly what I was looking for - a sexy, low drama, second chance romance. The story was playful and funny with plenty of steam and I loved every second! This is book two in the Love Hurts series, but can be read as a stand alone and the characters are completely unrelated to the characters from the first book, Sex in the Sticks.

Eden and Coop had amazing chemistry and were really relatable. Their reunion starts off hilariously rocky, but once misunderstandings are cleared up, they begin taking the steps to reconnect after their 14 year separation. Even though they have each had individual success, they both recognize that something in their lives is missing, especially Eden. I really liked that neither really begrudged the other for following their dreams and staying true to themselves, even when it caused them to go their separate ways. So much in life is about timing and I felt that this re-discovery of each other after both have had to time to grow and mature felt honest and realistic. Having both Coop and Eden's points of view also was awesome because it helped to understand where the other was coming from and how each struggled with their feelings and fears. I loved how their relationship was both comfortingly old and excitingly new.

If you're looking for a feel good, low angst, and sexy second chance romance, look no further! Jilted will leave you with a happy heart and a smile on your face!

Once again Sawyer Bennett you have managed to hold me hostage with such a fantastic story. I adore Coop & Eden so much!!!! I could not put this book down! I am such a sucker for an awesome second chance romance and Coop & Eden's love story is 14 years in the making. Eden left their small town of Newberry and Cooper 14 years ago to become a model first then an actress. Now she is back in town to hide out from her life in the limelight after having been "jilted" by her cheating fiance and it is clear their feelings for each other never disappeared they were merely buried beneath the years that separated them. Coop & Eden's chemistry is steamy and undeniable. They decide to be each other's rebound sex, but the love they have always felt for each other is so close to the surface it doesn't take long for it to surface and consume them both. Luckily this time around they are both older, wiser and more mature and able to reason and get through the problems that seemed insurmountable all those years before. True love wins and conquers all!
Amazing 5 star second chance romance!!

This is a standalone novel and one that was an amazing read. I love Sawyer Bennett's writing style; her characters are well rounded, easy to relate too and believable.

I love a second chance at love story which is what Jilted is. When Eden Goodnight returns home to lick her wounds after being publicly humiliated by her cheating fiancee, she expects to find peace and support. The opposite occurs, it appears the locals think she is a spoilt brat and have little sympathy.

Ironically the one person who offers support is the very man she left behind, her high school boyfriend, Cooper Mayfield.

Coop has never forgotten or gotten over the beautiful Eden. Despite initial misunderstandings, passion quickly reignites between Coop and Eden.

The chemistry between them sizzles and their banter had me laughing out loud on several occasions.

I really loved Coop, he is the total package. It is obvious how much he cares about Eden and he was sexy yet tender and totally melted my heart.

Will Eden take a chance on her relationship with Coop or will she return to the bright lights to pursue her career?

I received an ARC through the publisher and Netgalley and voluntarily reviewed.

I love Sawyer Bennett. She is one of my all time favorite authors. Jilted was another hit for me!

Hollywood's it girl Eden Goodnight. She is in the middle of a red carpet event, when she finds out her fiancée is a cheating, lying jerk. Eden runs back to the only home she knows, Newberry (small town southern time) and back to the only man she every truly loved, Cooper Mayfield.

Eden and Cooper were once inseparable. Then Eden left him and everything else behind, to pursue her modeling (later turned acting career). From lovers to strangers, and now that they are back living in the same home, maybe back to lovers?

I loved Cooper. He is everyone's dream. Hard worker, leveled headed, and hopelessly in love with the women who got away all those years ago.... Now, if nom and Eden could only work through their past and make a future together!

I have no idea how Sawyer Bennett does it. She writes great stories over and over again! I devoured this one quickly. I loved the pace and the chemistry of the characters was off the charts. Eden and Coop are childhood friends and had a pretty serious relationship until distance didn't work for them anymore. Eden returns from her glamour brokenhearted and wants to just be away from all the lights for a while so she heads to her little hometown. Only someone is living in her house, her ex Coop. Coop is a ladies man now. Never stays with the same woman for too long, he did that before and got his heart broken. Now, people are talking bad about Eden and she can't figure out why. Coop being a good guy sticks up for her and wants to set the town straight, now if they were to have a little friends with benefits while she's home what could that hurt? Only now Coop is thinking about the future and he knows Eden loves her glamorous life so that won't work.

This was a great book I loved it!

Eden is an award-winning actress, she is on top of the world until she was humiliated on the red carpet when she learnt her fiancé has been cheating on her, so she decided to go back to her home town for some relaxation.

Coop loves his home town and his business, he and Eden have history and since they split up he has shied away from relationships.

When Eden come home and the two see each other for the first time in 14 years’ things are tense, but when some truths come out they decide to be each other’s “rebound”. The sex that results is extremely hot, but when Eden has to go back to LA for work can the two make it work this time around?
