Such a fun book full of great knitting patterns. I am enjoying the patterns and teaching my students how to knit them has been easy and very satiisfying.
These would be fun projects for a scout troop or a children's art camp. Personally I find the oversized heads a little disconcerting, but I think kids will be okay with it for the most part.
Wonderful instruction to make royals using YARN........
I absolutely love all the characters featured in Yarn Whirled: The Royal Family and one of these days I a really going to have to sit down and try to make one. The book has instructions on all of the characters and even has a family tree of the royal family. There are various different outfits featured - Kate and Wills wedding, the Queen at 90, etc. There are step by step tips and techniques to help you make a royal family all of your own!
I received a free e-copy of this book in order to write this review, I was not otherwise compensated.
I absolutely loved this! Directions are clear and easy enough to follow along with.
I love anything using yarn. The process introduced is more complicated and time consuming than I had imagined. Illustrations and instructions are very clear and easy to follow.
This book surprised me, I was expecting wire arm work and polystyrene but I was very pleasantly proven wrong. All modelled with wool, not a single wire anywhere. The wrapping gives a very solid effect and perfectly safe for children to play with. The dolls look like they came out of a fairytale, and have a resemblance to the roylas. I love them. These can be made out left over wool or new balls - either way they would make a lovely gift for a child.
I am sorry that I can't review this but I will keep trying to download.
This is another cute and quirky addition to Olski's Yarn Whirled series. She has an inventive way of creating these dolls that is still simple to follow. The instructions are laid out neatly and are easy to follow. The royal family is a great subject and I love that she included less well known members of the current royal family like Sophie, Countess of Wessex.
Another beautifully-photographed, well-organized, detailed craft book from Dover Publications. A book that will appeal to Anglophile dollmakers and fabric artists. A caveat however: the subtitle decribes the contents as "Easy-to-Craft." Not necessarily. Those who are familiar with yarn crafts will likely have quicker success. The instructions are clear and comprehensive but the projects are for the dedicated crafter--not for the novice. Photographs of all finished doll projects are included. Prior to the specific projects, detailed instructions with photographs are provided, showing basic wrapping and connecting steps for each doll part. A family-tree showing the dolls and their relation to one another on the first two pages provides an adorable opening to this book. Beautifully-presented, five stars--but not for the faint of heart crafter.
